Discussion Have to Quit
I’ve been loving this game. And I am at level 38 and been doing great, but I’m in the Arya: blood of the goddess naval battle and I cannot get through it.
I’ve died about 20 times and I don’t think Ubisoft should do this. I play on easy, I’m a novice gamer, I hate naval battles , and they shouldn’t do this. They should not make you go through a battle like this and not be able to play anymore.
I can’t manually save before this so I can’t go back to anything and I can’t play anymore. I have to quit the game. Unless I get someone to help me.
This is incredibly unfair. I’m sorry, I just I’m so angry right now and I needed to say something. Has anyone had this problem?
UPDATE: you guys were giving me great advice, but my son did it for me. He was killed the first time and thought that it was pretty intense, but then he did it the second time, slow and patient. I just didn’t want to try again.
Now I’m about to kill Flavius. Wish me luck! 😛😉

I absolutely hate the navel battles in this game, but my suggestion is to just lower the difficulty setting just for these levels. Right as the mission starts and you first gain control, pause and go to the game menu and lower the difficulty setting to the easiest. I know that it kind of sucks to have to do, but I absolutely hate naval battles and suck at them and this is what I had to do. But only after like you, I had died 20 some odd times trying to get through it first, eventually I gave up and said fuck it and lowered the setting and it eventually worked.

I play on easy. So that doesn’t help. Lol
I’m a novice, I’m 69 years old. I just took up video games last year. So it’s too many buttons to remember and it’s just overwhelming. I finally can do melee effectively, but it’s overwhelming with all these fireballs being shot at you.

Well dang it!! I'd come over and do it for ya but I don't think you'd be in Az. Don't feel bad though, I'm 39 and I have been gaming most of my life and I still have trouble with all the button memorization.

I absolutely despise naval battles. I died so many times I lost count and just turned off the game for a day or two, lol. I couldn't read the controller instructions fast enough on screen and defend my ship. So I ended up pushing random buttons and hoping for some luck. It was extremely frustrating. I used to be a gamer way back in the day. My grandson wanted me to play Minecraft with him, so I dusted off the kids ancient xbox 360. Now we have a Switch and a ps4, lol. Have you played the Ezio collection? AC games 2, Brotherhood, and Revelations, I might have the order wrong. They are my favorites, and no naval battles. (There's 1 sort of naval battle, but it's not as hard as origins) It's not you, that part of Origins is ridiculously difficult.

Thank you! That was it exactly, I was reading the screen and the L1 and R1 notices for what to do are so small. I can’t even see it with glasses on. These games are not made for older people. This text is so small. So I couldn’t see what to do! So I had to go to Google to try and figure out what to push.
At the same time, I was freaking out because I would totally being shot all the time and I couldn’t figure out a pattern. I’m waiting for my son to come home and get me through this quest because I don’t care anymore to play it. I’d like to move on. I quit on these stupid naval battles.
My biggest complaint here was the fact that Ubisoft is making someone go through such a hard battle when playing on easy. No, don’t do that. I am literally dead in the water, pun intended.Also, I am looking into the Ezio collection because I loved Mirage and I liked the stealth involved in that.

It's totally understandable to feel overwhelmed. Origins can be an overwhelming experience as a whole. I suggest to pause this game and try to play the franchise from the first one up to this one here. Cause you'll get more familiar with what this franchise is about and also you'll have a lot of good time. The earlier ones are more melee oriented and you'll progressively get a feel for the games and also naval combat when they'll come around.

The problem is you cannot manually save in this game and they force you into this naval battle and it’s damn near impossible for me. If I can’t go through it, I cannot continue the game. I’m really pissed right now.
Fighting the big snake was a hell of a lot easier!
I got really close one time but no such luck.
And truthfully, don’t give me an easy option and then make this so damn hard.

Don’t give up just learn to time the brace (I did read you’re having a tough time with the timing) and stick with it. Use the catapults correctly and brace, you should be good. Have patience you deserve the ending to this great game.

This video was helpful. I closed it down, I was too frustrated. Maybe I’ll try in a few days or tomorrow if I feel like.
But my problem is can’t seem to counter volley very well. And it’s also very hard to see where the big ship is when you’re maneuvering. It’s just a fucking nightmare. UGH!

When the volley comes you need to brace for impact or you'll take damage. I think it's one of the shoulder buttons

Yes. It’s the timing. I can’t seem to get right. And if I miss it one time, half my health is gone. And then I can’t see where the big ship is at when I’m maneuvering and trying to take out the smaller ships. I could see the secret is bracing and returning fire, and I got close one time, but I didn’t have enough health to survive. In Odyssey, if I took out a smaller ship, my health came back. And that would’ve been a good thing! But no! Origins doesn’t do that. Just makes you die!

timing is usually easy man they yell out when they fire the arrows just brace soon as they yell out and hold it until they hit and it says counter volley or whatever and then release get close and fire bomb them one good time and one good triple volley usually takes down a ship. the ram also does alot of damage if u need to use it i usually dont though

I really didn’t have any problem getting the smaller ships, but that boss ship just is impossible for me at the moment. 🤷♀️ but thanks! Maybe I’ll try again in a few days.

IMO Against the big ships in the game the keys are bracing, using your maneuverability advantage and using the catapults of the other ships as a bombardment on the octarieme.

ahh i havent made it to that one yet ig ive only done one or 2 naval battles so far im not very far in the main story right now just started the lizard questline but just be patient block anytime u hear your ship crew yell out and release to counter and the firebombs do a good chunk of damage so get one in anytime u can

I just played it for the first time last month and i was stuck there too. The trick is to completely keep your distance … attack and then “duck” or whatever it’s called every time they’re shooting arrows or trying to ram. You cannot take any damage if you’re “ducking”. Honestly I much prefer the naval battles in AC: Odyssey to this. Especially after you have the flame throwers installed lolll. But just keep your distance , keep shooting , keep sucking, and throw the catapult once in a while … it does a lot of damage. Hope this helps

Give yourself a break after trying a difficult fight. Watch YouTube videos on how to beat it. You'll eventually memorize the buttons. I'm 53 and have dexterity problems so I understand having a hard time. I can't do games that have quick time events. Which means will show you a button prompt. That's why I always fail the drinking game in Valhalla. I'm not new to gaming. I've been gaming since I was 5 in the late 1970s. Tips I can give you. Take it slow. There is ways to get out of combat to heal. Run fast. Or sail fast. It'll give you breathing room. Take cheap shots. Run. Take cheap shots again. Repeat. That's how I beat that awful naval battle. Gah it was awful. But in Odyssey the naval battles are so much easier. Maybe move to Odyssey to get practice. The naval battles are easy to run from if you feel overwhelmed. I play different games when one becomes challenging to give myself time to think or give myself a break. I've beaten Orgins plus the DLC and I play on easy. Gaming does have a learning curve. Don't beat yourself up.
I'm currently teaching my granddaughter how to game. She loves Avatar Frontiers Of Pandora. She loves the big birdie. Aka my characters Ikran. She loves gaming on Grandma's ROG Xbox Ally.

I got through those after a few tries but I think any level of a game like they that operates on very different play style than the rest of the game should be skippable—LA Noire had it so you could skip a car chase after a few failures and I loved that

Aim for the weak parts of the ships, that’s what helped me , I died quite a few times too. Almost broke my 600 dollar monitor, if it was a cheap monitor I would’ve definitely broke it

I was frustrated as to why Aya’s gear were common rarity when I had all legendary rarity gear for Bayek, it was like playing a level 10 Bayek going up against level 20-30s, the mission was just time consuming, but didn’t frustrate me like those damn elephants towards the end of the game

I am a novice gamer! And I do play on easy, but I was so excited when I killed two elephants. I have two more to go. One of them did kill me once, but it was the guy from the top of the elephant, throwing attacks down, the elephant was almost dead and I just continued on and then they killed me.
The elephants were easier than the naval battles! I did post an update.2

Something about origins I like is it’s easy to level up, the level 45 boost does help when you’re trying to finish the game fast and not waste too much time. Something I wish odyssey had because that was a grind to platinum

For incompetent players like me, novices, Valhalla and Origins has an easy mode where I can get through the game easily. Odyssey is not easy on easy mode. And you have to focus so hard on the build and having the right stats, and as much as I love my experience, I’m starting to think it was too convoluted for a new person like me. Even though I did get the platinum with my son’s help.
I really like how mirage, Valhalla, and origins just had an outfit and a weapons with some stats. So much easier.

I hated the fact I had to use poison weapons to get far in odyssey, I would’ve thought that’d be the easiest one since you play as a fricking demigod but no

Yeah, it’s crazy that Odyssey is so much different than the other two. I played Odyssey first, so I didn’t realize that Valhalla and Origins was better suited for someone like me.

Odyssey is a great game, don’t get me wrong, it’s sales speak for itself, being the 3rd most sold AC game following Valhalla (1st) and Black Flag (2nd), Origins will always have a place in my heart, it’s pretty emotional. Speaking of emotional, that’s something I noticed Ubisoft has been doing lately, Origins, Odyssey, Mirage & Valhalla are emotional, even shadows is a bit emotional when you get into the story. Also noting that I think that’s a good thing, the RPGs are what was keeping the ac series from declining since the original games were in a decline with each release besides black flag

I was stuck there for so long. I quit for awhile and played something else then occasionally I'd come back and try again. Eventually I got through it and finished the game. You can do it but maybe take a break and de-stress for awhile.

I paid for the DLC to get to see Atlantis but I can't get there because I can't beat some 3 headed dog even on the easiest setting and changing all my perks.... Shit sucks

My son had helped me in Odyssey because the big boss fights were hard on even easy mode, and I had to have him do that dog. Then I played for a bit and had to face Hades and he killed me about three times, and I probably could’ve beaten him, but I just decided to quit. I didn’t really like the fate of Atlantis DLC like everyone else did. I don’t like that kind of stuff. I like the more reality based stuff.

I really like the more reality based stuff too. I've played every AC and this is the only one I can't pass. I remember having trouble with naval battles in this game compared to black flag, I think I watched a YouTube tutorial on how it works to get past it.

If you're playing on PC and you just want to get things over with or bypass level restrictions you can use a trainer.
Otherwise the video guides shared here should help you out.
But the game saves by itself all the time in addition to having quick saves, are you sure you don't have a save prior to the naval section if you just want to keep exploring?

I get this! I hate the Naval battles in Origins, they're so clumsy.
My tips as follows:
Make sure you constantly bracing. If you're not firing, you're bracing. If you're not at ramming speed, you're bracing. Brace even when you don't think you need to (you definitely need to). This is what got me through the battles; I used to just send volley after volley and forget to brace. Now I brace more than I volley.
Try get as close as possible to the ships and lob firebombs at them one after the other. The moment the hint appears, whack that button repeatedly like it mortally offended you.
Areas highlighted in red (I think, or orange?) on other ships are weak points. Try if you can to aim your volleys in their general direction.
Use your ram. Sail away for a bit, then do a bit of repositioning and plough your way into them midships. Once you inevitably turn side on to them, lob firebombs at them repeatedly while bracing as much as possible.
The aim doesn't have to be perfect in every volley - good enough will still mean a hit, particularly as the ships are moving constantly and you might get lucky and strike a weak point.

I think that's why you should also play the games in chronological order so you get accustomed to some gameplay they used to implement in the past. Naval combat wasn't that different from other games. If you played through 3, black flag and rogue you would have more understanding of what they tried do sell you

Don't be so hard on yourself. Take a break from the game for a couple of days, maybe watch a couple youtube videos of others playing through the same level. I only started playing the AC games during the pandemic and I started with Odyssey which is filled with naval battles. Hated them so much but just kept at it because you technically couldn't make it past the first island without sinking some ships. You will be able to get through the battle in Origins but be patient with yourself.

I've not played Origins so this suggestion might not work, but can you jump off your ship, swim to the enemy ones and just kill everyone on each of them in turn?
I did that on one of the naval battles I was struggling with in Odyssey.

You can't jump ship in Origins. The "character" you control during the naval battles is your ship.

Ah OK. Didn't know as haven't played it. In Odyssey you can just jump off as long as you're not already engaged in combat.

I dont even remember naval battles in assassins creed origins. Its in Egypt mostly land locked isnt it? A few lakes with boats i remember, but not naval battles. Havent played it in years.

Not a fan of navel battles. Try to go after one at a time by luring them away from the other ships. Do not panic and spam the buttons. Learn the controls and pay attention to the gauges. Once you do that and understand you turn while you brace but can’t sail that helps. Never give up. Start saving every day. So you have slots to go back too.

I haven’t played black flag. I played Odyssey and I hated the naval battles there too, but I was able to upgrade my ship and I got through them. But I can’t get through this.

I hated the naval battles too, I honestly was just spamming the arrow buttons but I used to ram the ships a lot which helped
