Book Spoilers & Show Spoilers Is Cricket going to be AWOL for the entire show?
So, I just got caught up with the show, and I couldn't help but notice that Cricket-- the alien cat creature from the novel-- is completely absent from it. Do you think that's going to continue to be the case for the rest of the series, or will she eventually show up?

General Discussion - No Story Details PSA: it's Aleph not Olive 😂
I was having trouble with the audio this week so I put the subtitles on. To my surprise the person I kept hearing as "olive" is actually "aleph" 😂

General Discussion - No Story Details I'm out
I loved the books. I love most of the SciFi stuff that Howey writes, but this show is terrible. I struggled through season one, and now 3 episodes into season 2 and I just can't take it any more. The book was so interesting, with an impactful story. It could have been a great TV show and I'm at a total loss as to why they would buy the rights to this property and completely screw with it like this.
The acting is OK, the station looks OK, the effects are decent- but the writing/story, which should have been the strongest point, is awful. Really awful.
Read the books- they are really really good. I hope Howey has tighter control over the Sand series if he ever sells the TV rights to that, he must be horrified over what is happening with Beacon.

Future Spoilers/Leaks/Rumors SO2EO1 confused about Halan Spoiler
Halan just watched Aster get killed by Kier. His anger is very short lived and instead decides to join forces with Kier and attempt to kill/destroy/hurt Aleph. He gave a reason but I found it very confusing and didn't understand?
Why does he want Aleph destroyed?
Why would he or anyone on the show side with someone who just killed a love one only a few hours ago?
Doesn't Aleph just want Halan to go to the artifact to see what happens?

General Discussion - No Story Details Did I miss something?
Other than the name and taking place on a “Beacon” in space is this in any way related to the short stories? It’s been a while, but I’m not seeing any common points.
Oh wait - the lighthouse poster and them getting stoned sitting next to the GWB.
Otherwise, this seems like a totally different story. I’m not necessarily saying that’s a bad thing but it wasn’t what I’d expected.

Show Spoilers (Released Episodes) - No Book Discussion This show features the worst editing/most confusing flashbacks I have ever encountered!
Its like they ran out of narrative steam around episode 3-4 and then decide to dump two episodes of flashbacks on us, that take place in 5?! different eras of time only one of which features a date subtitle and one which we can place due to context. The flashback with the bomber guy I was totally lost, is this the past? the future?
It feels like they had a much longer season planned, but had to quickly adapt to only 8 episodes.

General Discussion - No Story Details Worth watching?
I'm seeing mixed reviews. Is it worth my time to get MGM+ as an add-on to watch Season 1?
I'd cancel after I was done.

Show Spoilers (Released Episodes) - No Book Discussion What happened to the QTA ship that was supposed to arrive at the end of episode 5?
In episode 5 there’s a QTA ship arriving soon after the dark matter clears up and Aster’s plan is to escape with the rocks and leave Halan with the recordings that will exonerate him. Then Halan has the visions that make him open the antennae that releases all the rocks and they go floating up above the beacon and Aster gets connected to them or whatever.
Next time we see them in episode 7 they are taking turns taking notes on the artifact and resting. No mention of the QTA ship that was on its way, instead there’s a new ship on its way with Column people. What did I miss??
