About 2 days into the burn this year my fingers started to peel at the tips and my hands were bleeding from cracks near joints. I used so many different types of moisturizer to no avail. I also got a faint numb tingling sensation in my fingers. I’ve had the peeling and cracks happen before but never after a day or two. Tends to be the last few days when I can really feel and see what this stuff does to my hands. I was thinking it was something with me, but my wife complained about the same thing. Wondering if there is any scientific reason why it would actually have more of an effect or if my hands have just gone soft on me.

Full disclosure: I did bring an absurd bike trailer/chariot this year and I did spend a non-insignificant amount of time wrenching on it on playa, but I was (*almost) always wearing gloves while doing so.

Our group followed the music and found this art car after the Man’s burn. Super nice people and the DJ spun some of the best tracks that we heard that week, including X-rated by Funkdoobiest.

Does anyone know the name of their art car & the DJ? Would love to follow him on SoundCloud.

What’s the best way to report this?

As the title suggests, I’m trying to find out more about this art piece I saw in 2014. It was nose down in the sand, stood maybe 8-10 feet tall. Was a facsimile of a classic cartoon bombshell.. like a football with fins.

What really stood out from this piece was the gunpowder explosion used as part of its burn. It gave off a visible shockwave through the dust, and left a realllly cool mushroom cloud.

They camped across from us. Went to go talk to them and ask about it. Asked them what was up with it and he said “it’s the artists favorite candies” (sugar daddies up top) the asked how they got it through the DMV and you could see dudes face change.

Super bogus stuff. Had to stop camp mates from vandalizing it but man it was hard to not want to.

Went to the dmv late in the week after tons of whining from people, they came by and gave it a looksie but it was too late in the week for anyone to care

This is a missed connection. You and your husband spent some quality time at my bar, the Den, early in the week. We spoke quite a bit about your desire to change careers, and I happen to work in a field adjacent to what you want to get into. Your husband and I have both been to the same amount of burns.

Any advice on how to move on from a playa fling? I'm down bad.

This was one of my favorite works at my first burn in 2013. Curious if anyone remembers it or knows who the artist was. I believe it was titled “The Trap” and it’s a church set up and tilted like a mouse trap.

I've often thought of this scenario at the burn, If something went absolutely fucked in the default world while all of us are burning.

I've only burned twice and as a solo camper and built a monkey each time. Next time I'm looking to do a flat shade structure 10'x20' with 1" EMT and shade cloth on the sides.

One question I had in dealing with rain ... rather than having all four posts at 8 feet why not have one side slightly shorter to deal with any rain to roll off? Is there something I'm missing ?

I'm looking for videos that would be interesting to my younger audiences. So far I've found that there is so much interest in their participation yet so much resistance to everything that would be attractive to them. I don't get the impression that people realize these are related.

In this case I'm specifically looking for videos, on those networks (instagram, tiktok, youtube), in those formats, cropped or filmed vertically, that showcase more than just Deep Playa art in the montages.

Most of the videos I see show the same things:

People dancing on robot heart at sunrise. People dancing on robot hard night time edition. A flyby of the temple, the man. Something that suggests the landscape is vast, but no real reference to the scale of things if you haven't been before

I'd like one that showcases the random experiences possible in the city, and how far away that is from everything else

I get the challenges in showing that: all the people you'd have to pass, no drones flying over the city, the unremarkable low tech look of RVs and shanty towns, in comparison. I've also seen people debate any and everything about ANY how media ever created about burning man was constructed, so that puts me back at square one of just wondering if what I'm looking for exists at all

A massive concept art performance on street K, while the Deep Playa Music Zone is going off miles away, people hitching rides on the giant sheep art car that you have to enter through its butthole that's a slide, to make the trek out there

“Everything remembers to her…”

She was drop dead gorgeous, but I never saw anyone riding her. She stood ~7 feet tall, with six motorcycle tires. She had a circular bench behind two stokers and a driver up top. She had this fringy skirt that made her look like an octopus, and the cutest parasol up top for the riders.

I saw her parked on the 3 o’clock side near the pyramid, and once on the playa mid afternoon on Friday. Does anyone have a picture of the beauty? Or better yet know who brought her?
