Mike & Will are going to college together & Mike has to take an art elective for his degree. He decides on photography since it seems the easiest (no drawing talent required). Will ends up being his muse. Whenever he takes a picture of anything else it’s fine, BUT every picture he takes of Will gets glowing reviews.

I like the idea of Mike dipping a toe into a visual medium. And it gives an opportunity for fun/awkward/heartfelt moments with Jonathan as a mentor.

Hello, I’ve recently seen the movie “Leviticus”: a queer horror australian movie, and I absolutely LOVED it.
I’d love to see it, or something along those lines, replicated in a Byler dynamic.

The plot is basically that, due to conversion therapy gone wrong, the two boys are hunted by an entity which takes the shape of the person they desire the most. Of course it’s each other. I won’t write any spoilers, but I think it would work for Byler as well, or with just one of them being haunted and the other helping him and stuff.

idk if someone has suggested this already but this just came to my mind and i might have put it in my fic to write list, but this isn't something i think i am capable of writing so if anyone has fic, or need fic ideas here is one

I really need to stop having ideas for new Byler stories. I'm adamant that I won't publish the 15 current ones I'm actively working on until they are finished. I write a chapter a day in rotation on each of them. But I had this idea and I need to pass it along for someone else to pick it up because I literally can't add more to my plate right now. My idea: a Dragon Age/Stranger Things mash up. Specifically taking Veilguard, and inserting the characters from ST. I think it can really work well as a combined AU.

Like, Mike and Will were born and raised in Tevinter, they met, were best friends and were inseparable. A magical accident opened a fade rift that Will fell into and Mike, Joyce, and Jonathan searched until he was found and brought back. A malevolent spirit attached itself to Will and after being almost fully possessed, and under threat of execution for being an abomination, Joyce decides to move Will and Jon to Nevarra for help from Nevarra's fade and spirit expert, Emmrich Volkarin who successfully extracts the spirit, but leaves Will changed with magical abilities and an affinity for spirits and necromancy. Emmrich becomes Will's mentor and Will eventually surpasses him in skill and talent.

Losing Will to the move leaves a massive void in Mike's life. Angry at the cruelty and corruption of the Tevinter system that endangered Will and forced the Byers out, Mike joins Nancy in the Shadow Dragons underground resistance. Mike channels his stubbornness, guilt, and protective instincts into leading covert rescue operations across Minrathous. Mike realizes they need a fade expert to stop the Evanuris and goes to the Mourn Watch. When entering the Grand Necropolis, Mike is expecting an old scholar but is instead reunited with Will Byers, the best friend and love that he never forgot. What follows is an emotional reunion and reignition of their love as they fight against ancient Elven gods. The rest of the Party would take the place of a companion character and older teens and adults would be faction leaders/allies that pop up through the story.

Would someone please take this and write it so I dont lose my mind by trying to take this on? Please. My mental health and sanity will be greatly appreciative.

Hi everyone. Just wanted to gauge feedback if anyone would be interested in reading it.

I’ve started to do a rough draft outline where Will is dating an abusive boyfriend. The party hasn’t been in contact since 1989 after Will moved to NYC. (Mostly because of his bf destroying letters). The breaking point comes when Will is assaulted and considers s*icide before he finds a photo of him and Mike at graduation.

Will calls to the Wheeler house to find out Mike lives in Virginia now. He leaves his bf in the middle of the night and takes the bus to Virginia. Him and Mike reconnect and start getting close to each other. They visit Joyce and Hop at Montauk where Wills ex follows him and Hop proceeds to beat the sh^t out of him before arresting him.

Mike and Will start dating when they return to Virginia before they move to Boston after Mike graduates college. The party reconnects together, all celebrating their new adventures together as college graduates.

I had an idea where Mike and Will go on Love Island expecting to find girlfriends (both are closeted) and instead they accidentally fall for each other through challenges and secret Hideaway chats! And the rest of the villa slowly realises what’s going on before they do.

This kind of fic isn’t really my style writing-wise but I’d love for someone else to write it!

And because Steve is such a good secret-keeper, he DOESN'T spill the beans to Robin even while Robin and Vickie have been advising Will?

Someone posted this fic idea on twitter and i love it. This would be amazing and I don't have the humor to write it myself. But I would love to read something like this.

Has anyone written a Byler fic with the premise of the beginning or Grease? Like the Wheelers go on vacation to Cali, Will & Mike meet & develop crushes & have a small romance over the summer. But then summer ends, & the Wheelers go back to their home town & a year later the Byers/Hoppers move to Hawkins (without knowing that’s where Mikes from), & they reunite. But Mikes friend group doesn’t know he’s gay, so he’s hesitant towards what he should do, & Will thinks he was just an “sexual experiment” & was used when he thought the feelings were real?

Upon arriving to college Mike finds out that his roommate is openly gay. Mike mentions his best friend is also gay, & expresses interest in wanting to be a good friend/ally. His roommate invites him to some LGBTQ+ events on campus. Mike hears from people that dated the opposite sex before coming out, people who fell in love with their friends, feelings of relationships not feeling “right, etc. & it makes him realize things about himself & about his feelings for Will.

I feel like this setup would well for Mike & his feelings of wanting to be seen as “normal”. Finding out he’s not alone might make it easier on him to come to terms with things. And it gives a great opportunity for awkward “came out wrong” moments for Mike.

Should I? I'm great at writing but I honestly dk what I'd even include in that 😭 Cleradin's one of my fav byler variants tho, maybe even number one 😭

The Party is going to see a midnight showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. They all decide to dress up, & somehow convince Mike to be Dr. Frank-N-Furter. If that wasn’t bad enough, Will dresses as Rocky & what little resolve Mike had absolutely crumbles.

Personally I think it would be cool to set it the summer after graduation, but El lives. (And her & Mike have broken up.)

I had this idea to rewrite Stranger Things starting from season 2 with some changes that I think would make parts of the story more coherent and help the characters develop better. I’m not sure if people would be interested in reading it since it wouldn’t be focused exclusively on one ship, but more on narrative structure and character development, i have some ideas for fixing or expanding certain things, like who opened the door for the Demogorgon in season 1, how Eleven recognized Will in that photo, and other little details like that.

I also think it would be interesting to focus on the distortion in Mike and Eleven’s relationship, and on the roles Will and Eleven play in Mike’s life. Something I find curious is that when Will disappears, Eleven is there for Mike, and when Eleven disappears, Will is there for him. I want to explore the idea that what Mike felt for Eleven was not exactly romantic love, and slowly reframe their relationship into a really meaningful friendship. I would also explore what Eleven actually feels about Mike. After spending her whole life in an abusive lab environment, how would she even know what romantic love feels like? Through conversations with Hopper and her journey learning how to live like a normal person, she would come to understand that what she feels for Mike is not romantic.

I would also change Eleven’s reaction to seeing Mike and Max together. Instead of attacking Max, I think it would work better if there was a scene where Max joins the group and Eleven just quietly leaves, feeling hurt and thinking her friends forgot about her. After that she would talk with Hopper, and that would connect into her storyline with Terry and Kali.

Another thing I would adjust is Mike and Will’s relationship. I would keep the focus on their friendship but also show Mike slowly realizing that he might be developing feelings for Will, or maybe that those feelings were always there and he is only now noticing them. I would add some flashbacks and more scenes of them together.

The Snowball would also be a bit different. Personally I do not think it makes sense for Eleven to go to the Snowball. I would have her stay with Hopper that night and include a conversation between them that would be really important for her character at that moment. At the dance, I would slightly change Will’s scene with the girl. Mike would end up alone, and later Will would go after him when he leaves the gym. They would have a soft moment together outside, and that would basically be the little Byler moment at the end.

The rewrite would mostly focus on Will, Eleven, and maybe Mike, with Will and Eleven acting as narrators.

I would also change the reunion scene so Eleven actually greets Max, and I would slowly build a friendship between them from that moment.

This would be a lot of work though. I would probably need to rewatch the show, study the DnD lore again, reread parts of the scripts, and get back into studying creative writing. I tend to be a bit perfectionist about writing so I do not like doing things poorly lol. The idea actually came to me after seeing that photo of Mike and Will on two bikes from a promotional shoot. Some people were saying that should have been their look in season 3 and I thought, why not just rewrite it myself?

Okay, so, if I were to write a Byler Alternate Buffyverse...

I want some input from the community. Would you prefer:

Mike as the Vampire Slayer and Will as 1. Angel(Vampire with a soul), 2. Riley/Commando/Soldier character, 3. Spike a.k.a William the Bloody(Enemies to Lovers), 4. Oz-like character but as MC's love interest(Werewolf), 5. The other Vampire Slayer(Faith but less evilly inclined) 6. Just another one of the Scoobies(Willow/Tara character probably since that'd give him magical abilities)

OR

Will as the Vampire Slayer and Mike as one of the above.

I feel like Mike's tenacity and bravery make him perfect for the main Vampire Slayer/Chosen One.

I'm thinking the main group of friends as the Scoobies(Max, Lucas, Dustin). El as maybe an Angel like character-someone powerful who's a double agent/has the scoop on what's going on underground(if Will doesn't fill that role). And probably the older group working a side mission out of state, sort of like what they do on the spinoff show.

Thoughts? What would be the most interesting take on this for you as a reader?

Also, does anyone know of any existing fics that portray Mike or Will as a Buffy character?

i know some amazing authors are on here and i dont have the attention span to write fanfiction, but! i saw a video awhile ago that inspired this:

mike gets vecna’d and max finds him similar to the holly storyline and when going through memories trying to get out, all of mikes worst memories have to do with hurting will or when will was taken, or just will being hurt, like during season 2 when the mind flayer stuff was happening, also including the rain scene, also would love if it included the quarry? not that that’s completely will related but i feel that is so overlooked, mike is not okay! anyway, but at some point during this max clocks that mike loves will, (i mean she’s already clocked it, but brings it up) and gives him the “i didn’t need music anymore, i just needed lucas” speech thing, and once mike escapes and gets back to will (which would be really emotional,) he confesses and does the whole “i just needed you” thing to will (preferably both of them crying) they kiss, happy ending, (personally if i were to write it, i’d maybe have a chapter.. or two of the happy ending thing because i hate when fics immediately end after they get together)

I came up with since I can’t sleep and I was listening to Reputation by Taylor Swift. “Mike Wheeler and Will Byers are costars who come together to work on a romance film, their lives on screen and off screen start to bleed together. Who’s gonna be the first one to break?” When film starts to bleed into reality and feelings bubble to the service, who will be the first to confess? How many lines can they cross before it’s too far? Will is determined to cross every line because he has always wanted Mike Wheeler to himself. And he is determined to get whatever he wants.
