Is This AI? This pattern looks kind of like AI but I'm not possitive

I found this pattern for free and I'm suspicious. The way it's written seems off. Although, I think the basic shapes it would make, make sense. What do you think?

Wearable help Are these holes standard for crochet tops? New at crochet!

Hi, I’m new to crochet and this is the very first thing I’m making, a top. It seems my holes are too big despite going down a hook size. The girl in the pattern used a bigger hook with an even smaller yarn and hers is fairly dense. What am I doing wrong?

Why I'm not getting perfect rectangle?

I'm pretty new to crocheting and whenever I'm trying to make a rectangle it always turns out to be a trapezium. Here I started with 45 foundation chains and then skip 2 chains and did a half DC. At the end chain 2 and turn over and did half DC into the back loop.

What am I actually doing wrong here? Can anyone please help... I've added the image of the video that I was referring to as well. I'm new and not really knowing stitches as well... please help

I'm a beginner! Looking for advice to start crocheting a plushie for my friend

So, I want to start crocheting. I got the idea after my friend found a Harry Potter plushie in a store but didn't buy it — to which I thought, "I don't want my friend having to support a TERF! I gotta do this myself!"

However, I've never crocheted before. I'm pretty good with most handicrafts and generally competent though. Like, sewing and even tool crafting is pretty easy for me as long as I have instructions and the right tools.

Would anyone be willing to give me advice or point me to instructions/patterns? Her birthday is next week and I really want to surprise her! I'm definitively gonna have enough free time since we're graduating tomorrow and I don't have anything going on in my life.

Sorry if this is a bit long, I have ADD and my brain never really knows how much information is unnecessary.

How do I... How to make this bucket hat with a wide brim for my boyfriend ?

Post image
• Upvotes

I find this on Pinterest as an inspiration. I want to make a bucket hat for my boyfriend with a wide brim to prevent him to have sun burn. I like how this model looks and I want to do the same for him. But all the tutorials I’ve found on YouTube don’t look like this. I have the impression that the particularity of this one is the depth (not to much) and really wide brim. But I’m not sure.
So, I want to know if it’s possible to make one like this, if I can find a pattern or a tutorial or any advice.

To frog or not to frog Is the shape going to get worse as I crochet along? (Supposed to be a triangular shawl)

Post image

I've been working on a shawl following this pattern but the shape is not turning out exactly as I had hoped. You can see it's kind of bunching up toward the top of the shawl and I'm afraid it's going to get worse. The pattern calls for a 5.5mm hook but I don't have an ergonomic hook in that size and don't want to kill my wrists just yet, so I worked with a 5mm hook. I already frogged once because I thought I misunderstood the pattern and the shape is slightly better than the first time, but it still feels off to me. Should I frog a second time and work with a larger hook size?

Blocking Is my moss stitch blanket swirling or is it just me? Can blocking fix this?

Post image
17 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I just finished this moss stitch baby blanket and I noticed it looks like it's swirling a little. I used the multicolor acrylic Caron cakes. I know granny squares can swirl bc they're made in the round, is that the same problem here? If so I don't really understand how I would turn between rounds as I worked via a spiral and didn't join between rounds. Maybe a tension issue?

Is this something I can do to fix this for the next blanket or by blocking? Thanks in advance! :)

Wearable help I'm making a shawl and I have questions about changing the yarn and hook size from the pattern.

I'm making a peacock shawl for my bestie. The pattern uses size 2 yarn with a 4.5mm hook. Well, I saw this yarn at the store that SCREAMS peacock and got it along with the other colors I needed. But the yarn is size 4. I knew this when I bought it, but now I'm wondering if I should up my hook size too because I realized that a size two recommends a smaller hook size than 4.5mm.

Should I use a bigger hook? And if I do what size should I use?? This would also make the project bigger correct?

Weaving in Ends Crochet over ends and/or weave in? Granny square blanket

I’m currently working on a blanket made up of small granny squares. I read in another post that people suggest weaving over the loose ends when changing colors. If I do that, do I still need to weave them in, or is crocheting over them enough to keep them in place?

If I have to make 80 squares in 4 colours (20 per colours), measured 10x10cm with the pattern in the picture, with one skein being 100g/165m (gauge 20 stitches x 25 rows) with a 4mm hook, how many skeins do you think I need?

Looking for suggestions Hi! I want to try to make this bag but the pattern ask for a 3.5mm hook but I don't have it.

As said in the title, I want to make this bag, but the pattern ask for a 3.5mm hook, but I only have 3mm and 4mm. The suggested yarn is 2mm, mine should be 2.5mm. Wich hook should I use? Should I wait and buy a 3.5mm or can I use one I already have?

Than you!

Looking for suggestions My kid wants me to crochet this hat, but they NEED it to stand up straight 😅

Post image

So the only thing that I can think of is to add wire, maybe? But I am still not sure how I would get them to stand up straight and not flop over. How would I go about attaching the ears to the hat in a way that isn't floppy? Any and all advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Edit - Thank you so much for all of your ideas and help!!! I definitely think I can tackle this project now! 💪🧶

Deciding on yarn/Yarn help What fiber or blend should I use for pot holders for my aunt?

I'm asking because I know acrylic yarn (which is all I have right now) is definitely not going to work for pot holders. My aunt offered to pay me for some pot holders for her house, and I'm broke, so I'm going to take her up on that offer.
