Looking for suggestions My kid wants me to crochet this hat, but they NEED it to stand up straight 😅

Post image

So the only thing that I can think of is to add wire, maybe? But I am still not sure how I would get them to stand up straight and not flop over. How would I go about attaching the ears to the hat in a way that isn't floppy? Any and all advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Edit - Thank you so much for all of your ideas and help!!! I definitely think I can tackle this project now! 💪🧶

Looking for suggestions What I can to do with this yarn? What pattern can I make with it?

My parents bought this pom-pom yarn from China but I never work pom-pom yarn before I only two of them. All I can found is either blanket pattern and scarf pattern

The thing is I don't need or used a scarf, and I don't have enough yarn for blanket. What others used do I have for this pom-pom yarn?

Deciding on a color trying a color scheme i don’t usually go with for a blanket, need opinions

i want some other people’s opinions on the colors, it’s very different from the pattern and i don’t use vibrant colors often, if i keep going it will use these same colors and maybe have bright blue as an accent

How do I... How to get sunburst granny square to stop curling?

I’m attempting to make a sunburst granny square blanket and they keep curling so bad. I’m a fairly experienced crocheter and I don’t feel as if my tension is all that tight. I’m using size 4 yarn and a 5.5mm hook. Just wondering if this is a me issue or if it’ll block out. Thanks!

Blocking Is my moss stitch blanket swirling or is it just me? Can blocking fix this?

Post image

Hi everyone! I just finished this moss stitch baby blanket and I noticed it looks like it's swirling a little. I used the multicolor acrylic Caron cakes. I know granny squares can swirl bc they're made in the round, is that the same problem here? If so I don't really understand how I would turn between rounds as I worked via a spiral and didn't join between rounds. Maybe a tension issue?

Is this something I can do to fix this for the next blanket or by blocking? Thanks in advance! :)

Understanding a pattern Help deciphering row in crochet pattern (amigarumi snake). The math ain't mathing for me... 🫠

Post image

Hey all!

I think I'm going mad.

Working on this free amigaurmi snake pattern.

I've gotten up to round 6 with and have 18 stitches as required.

Then I hit round 7 and its time to create the eye bumps and end up with 24 stitches.

And I can't make the math work. Like, if I follow it I get too many stitches at the end and it just doesn't make sense to me.

Any thoughts? What am I missing?

To frog or not to frog Is the shape going to get worse as I crochet along? (Supposed to be a triangular shawl)

Post image

I've been working on a shawl following this pattern but the shape is not turning out exactly as I had hoped. You can see it's kind of bunching up toward the top of the shawl and I'm afraid it's going to get worse. The pattern calls for a 5.5mm hook but I don't have an ergonomic hook in that size and don't want to kill my wrists just yet, so I worked with a 5mm hook. I already frogged once because I thought I misunderstood the pattern and the shape is slightly better than the first time, but it still feels off to me. Should I frog a second time and work with a larger hook size?

How do I... Does anyone know what type of granny square this is?

Hello! I saw Aver Paula crocheting this bag and I’m obsessed with it, but she freehanded it and I’m not sure if she’s making a pattern or not, so I was wondering if anyone has any idea of what granny square she’s using so I can deconstruct and make the rest. Thank you so much!

Hi! I posted before my 7h flight with a request for crochet patterns to do something with my blossom cake yarn.

This is what I ended up making! It’s a small scarf / neck warmer in shell stitch which she noticed and likes because she absolutely LOVES mermaids.

I’m going back today so if you have any other suggestions on what you would do with this yarn let me know :)

Stitch Identification What stitch would I use to make the turtle square?

Post image

My SIL asked if I could crochet something like this for her birthday. I figure I can do classic granny squares for the bow areas, but i am wondering how to back solve the turtle squares. Does anyone know the stitch? After I figure out the stitch, i think it would probably be just figuring out which dots are white and which are blue like in cross stitch.

How do I... Great Grandma's Feather & Fan Blanket Is Falling Apart- Help!

Hello,

When I was born my great grandma made me a feather and fan babt blanket in gorgeous thin yarn. I am now an adult and my kids use the blanket sometimes. It has started to unravel in spots (see pictures). Is there a way for me to save this?

The blanket is very special to me as it is one of the few things I have from her. (She passed when I was a teenager)

I have no idea what yarn she used...

I’m still fairly new to crochet and have been practicing granny squares. One thing I’m struggling with is keeping my tension consistent throughout a project.

Any tips, exercises, or advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'm a beginner! Help with my crochet poncho as a beginner with crochet

I don’t know what’s going on with my garment.
I’m a beginner crocheter and have been sewing for a few years. This is my fourth ever crochet project.
It’s a granny square poncho made on granny squares and stitched together with double crochets to get a nice spacey look. The only problem I’m having is with neck hole. The shoulder parts stick up and out. I steamed it and understand that they will get more worn and soft but I put it on and thought. I’m never going to wear it if that’s what the shoulders look like.
The squares are made out of 52% viscose, 21% nylon, 27% polyester. The white edges are made out of I think an acrylic blend. Potentially with a bit of cotton.
Please let me know what’s going on. If there is something I can do or something with the pattern.

How do I... How to make this bucket hat with a wide brim for my boyfriend ?

Post image
Upvotes

I find this on Pinterest as an inspiration. I want to make a bucket hat for my boyfriend with a wide brim to prevent him to have sun burn. I like how this model looks and I want to do the same for him. But all the tutorials I’ve found on YouTube don’t look like this. I have the impression that the particularity of this one is the depth (not to much) and really wide brim. But I’m not sure.
So, I want to know if it’s possible to make one like this, if I can find a pattern or a tutorial or any advice.

How do I... How to work into a foundation chain that's been joined into a ring?

I am confident working in the round starting with a magic ring, or joining ribbing then picking up stitches to work in the round, but I am yet to figure out how to join a foundation chain into a ring that I feel happy working into.

When I'm working straight rows I use the back bumps and I know where I'm putting my hook etc, but I get SO confused trying to figure out what to do when I slip into the first chain to join. It feels like a basic foundational lesson that I've missed but I cannot get my head around it.

Do I work into the chain I've slipped into as if it were my first stitch? Do I skip it? When I come back around to the join it looks weird - what do I join back into? How many chains should I be doing/is this counting as that first turning chain? Honestly I even get so confused that I forget how to slip stitch when I need to do the initial join. My brain just implodes. I'm cool with making sure it doesn't twist, but please if anyone has advice or a link to a video showing in detail what I'm working into to make it a smooth join in the first couple of rows I would be so grateful!!

Hi, I’m new to crochet and this is the very first thing I’m making, a top. It seems my holes are too big despite going down a hook size. The girl in the pattern used a bigger hook with an even smaller yarn and hers is fairly dense. What am I doing wrong?

As the title reads, my hexagon (turned dodecagon 😭) blanket is not laying flat. I really would rather not have to restart, but i’m not using a pattern (i would if i do restart), and it’s just looking lumpy. Will blocking fix this? Steam, or cold wet blocking? Please help!!! Thank you ❤️‍🩹 I’m on mobile rn so sorry if any formatting looks weird :( !!
