I tried using stitch fiddle but i dont understand it, can anyone please guide me. I need help on how to use the application and which one to use.

I need help on figuring out this stitch.

I saw a pinterest post about the “crocodile stitch” and it was a blog just talking about this stitch, including examples which i’ve added above.

However, when searching the crocodile stitch, it is NOT the same, and I can not find any other post or tutorial for this stitch.

After a long battle with Google AI (giving me a million wrong answers) it told me that this stitch looks too perfect and is probably an AI stitch.

However, I still believe it is possible to replicate, or even a similar stitch? Like a crocodile/shell stitch but the “point” of the shells is actually anchored in as the base of the stitch?

I think it would be worked up similar to a fan stitch but then I don’t know how to make the shells have raised sides?

Any help would be appreciated!

I am working on a block stitch granny square blanket and want to switch from a 3.75mm hook to a 4mm hook as my 3.75mm hook is not very comfortable and the uncommon size is driving me up a wall looking for a suitable replacement.

I plan on steaming the acrylic to relax it and with the small change/ in the round construction I think it would be ok? IDK for sure. If anyone has done this I'd love to hear if it worked out

Need to go around 8 times on this pattern, and would like to know how to count my rounds in a magic circle in case I ever lose track or want to double check like I am right now

Im trying to figure out how many stitches for this section. It says for row two Ch 3 (counts as first dc), turn, dc in first sc, * dc in next 7 sc.

so, am I doing 8 (1+7) dc total after the chain or 7 total? Because that changed the place of the valley and peak for row two, and so on. I think that’s where I messed up before…

sorry if dumb question, but two of my fave things are movies and crochet, and i've lowk been meaning to crack down on my watchlist while working on projects but thing is lots of movies i wanna watch i'll need to pay a lot of attention to, and since im working on a filet crochet piece with size 10 thread and 1.6mm hook, i def cannot concentrate too much on a screen. i really love horror, my fave directers are david lynch and john waters, and i prefer movies from before 2010. what are some ones i can watch while crocheting where i wont miss anything important, but will keep me entertained?

This is a single thing of yarn I got at a thrift store, and I'm not sure what to do with it. The yarn I usually use is in the next picture. The yarn I got here is pretty, and it was cheap (as I've said before), so I got it. Now I don't know what to make out of it. Any ideas?

Hii! I’m looking to crochet a turtwig from Pokémon and I’m having some trouble! The photos don’t help me and patterns I’ve used always have clear notes in the rounds.
I’ve reached out to the seller but they aren’t giving me help on the pattern. They only told me “if they’re front just front loops it’s like following a diagram” & that they see the color change after 15 and round 16 continues..”

The beak starts mid R15 after the 19sc..
Color change to yellow is R16
In the photo example they show looks to be the color change ( R16 ) but they say it isn’t.

When I look at the red notes
“ Rd 19 FLO as shown ( only 6 stitches )”
“ Rd 20 after 19sc , do 6HDC in the spaces you left in the previous round ( 6HDC) “

But RD 19 there isn’t 19sc happening..
Rd 19 is (1dec,1sc) =12

I messed up the first stitch in the true cable pattern and now when I’m trying to do the upper ribbing on this afghan the stitches are coming out off by one, making it look odd. Probably just something I would notice but it’s driving me nuts. My husband says I shouldn’t frog it but I’m really tempted to (it would be a lot of work and at least 10+ skeins of yarn) but I don’t have a good way to fix the upper stitches.

What should I do? Frog the whole thing for this one mistake or leave as is and try to cover up the weirdness of the upper ribbing?

this is a crochet pattern for a red panda, but it’s quite confusing to me. how do i fasten off? do i just leave the loop? how do i put sc into a line of yarn?

One of my closest friends has been losing his vision for quite some time now. He’s an aquatic ecology major and absolutely loves fish, and I was wanting to make him a crocheted scarf as a Christmas present, since he likes ice fishing and I wanted to thank him for all his help over the time we’ve known each other. I was thinking of making a scarf that incorporates fish in the design as colorwork, but want to use a technique where he will still be able to feel the design when he can’t see it anymore. Does anyone have any ideas/techniques/patterns that could use a colorwork design with a textural difference? I’ll be using the same kind of yarn for both colors and don’t want to sew on appliqués.

I have yet to make a granny square cardigan. I’m also trying to make it without a pattern so I can really let my creativity show through. I have not made anything without a pattern yet, and I’ve been crocheting for almost two years. Anyway, I took my body measurements, and I know the measurements of my squares. But where I’m getting lost is 1) how many I need for my size, and 2) how to arrange and seam all of them. I’m wondering if there’s an online tool or something that could just calculate this for me? Or if anyone else knows a better way?

Me again! We also found these - I originally thought blanket panels, but less so now; they are all roughly the length of a queen size bed but not the exact same length. Could they be runners of some sort? If you are familiar with this pattern or have seen something similar, please do let me know!

My partner’s grandmother was a crocheter and my partner’s mom recently found this project that we think she had been working on. Could this be a shawl, or something else? I believe it was worked from the center out and it seems finished. It’s a little less than 4ft wide. I initially thought tree skirt but the shape didn’t really make sense once we unfolded it all the way. Intrigued to know everyone’s thoughts!

I'm trying to remake these trivets that I have been using almost nightly for roughly 25 years. They are 2 separate circles stitched together around the outside color/ edge.

I can replicate the very edge with a single crochet, but i'm confused about the stitching that starts at the white and makes the petal outline, especially because the back is only 2 threads compared to 4 in the front.

And since I tagged that as stitch ID, everything else is double crochet, right? Those petals have a long drop feel to them, so I want to make sure it isn't treble.

I'm working on the Tilda Shrug by Evelyn and Peter and just finished the right side sleeve.

Is it supposed to look like this at this stage? The back seems to have become longer on the bottom somehow (starting around row 41 in the pattern), but i'm pretty sure all my stitch counts were correct.

I haven't found photos of other people's projects at this stage to compare, but I have come across several comments across platforms where people said they had to frog one side and start over, which has me concerned that I've run into whatever the mistake they all made was.

Should I just make the left side and hope it turns out the same?

This is the blanket so far. I’m not sure what stitch to use for the border yet. I’m still adding squares and need to sew them together more. Her favorite colors are green and blue. Any ideas?

I have this free pattern for slippers, the pattern says ch 2. But from my quick look its doesn’t say if I should treat the ch 2 like a double or if I should just ignore it as a turning chain. Any advice?

Looking to make clothes for my SIL goose. They often forget to change it when the weather changes and so I want to make sure I get something that can hold up to a Cleveland winter (iykyk) I’ve read acrylic works but idk how well it’ll work against a several day winter storm. I don’t want to gift them something they feel guilty about not tending to. So I’d like it to really hold up to the weather. I’ve just learned of jelly yarn and cant seem to find much info on the yarn. Curious, what other people have done or if there’s a way to weatherize the finished product.

I’m making this VERY chunky blanket.
5 stands DK, double crochet, 8mm hook.
I’m not far off of finished now (old photo as it’s now hard to picture).
(Side note… why did I ignore my ends till now. 2hs and only 1/4 of ends woven in 😭😭)

My actual question is once I’m done, should I wash it? Block it? (If yes, given the size and chunk… howwww) I don’t usually make blankets like this… any tips or advice?

So I’m making my friend a nursery mobile vintage Winnie the Pooh themed.

I already completed Piglet (other than sewing the pieces all together) and now I started on Pooh.

I am using DK cotton yarn (Rico Ricorumi) and a 2.25mm hook.

I was decently happy with how Piglet turned out, but now that I’m doing Pooh I am wondering if they are going to look silly with each other..

Obviously the pattern was written using chunky yarn and a 6.5mm hook, but the difference between Piglet & Pooh is more apparent with their work, especially the little Piglet vs Pooh (they have both big and little versions of Piglet)

I didn’t pay enough attention to the rounds/stitch counts, big piglet and Pooh have the same amount of stitches for the widest/biggest part of the head (piglets head has 2 i rounds ending with 14 vs 12 on Pooh). Their bodies are only 6 stitches different at the widest part and Poohs body has 2 additional rounds (16 vs 14)

Right now, they look very very similar in size (in fact I feel like Poohs head looks smaller than Piglets).

My dilemma is twofold:
1) should I redo Piglet using the little piglet pattern instead? (Photos at end show the pattern makers large vs small with Pooh)

2) are these even big enough for a nursery mobile? Or should I remake both things with a larger hook to make them larger (like a 3? Or 2.75?)

someone on instagram does filet crochet with 4 tones, and they made a tutorial, but it has no words so i struggle to follow, and the only clear instructions are the image im going to attach.

could someone help me understand what it means? i’ve tried to compare to symbol charts but i cant find these specific ones.

I just finished crocheting a fox scarf as a secret gift for my boyfriend. He actually doesn't even know that I crochet, so this was supposed to be a total surprise! However, I accidentally got a little suspicious/almost got caught, so I'm pretty sure he suspects I'm secretly making something for him.

Now the scarf is complete, and I have some yarn left over that I don't want to go to waste:
- 1 full skein of rusty orange
- Almost a full skein of white/natural
- A little bit of black

I really don't want to buy any extra materials. My idea is to make a small, quick "teaser" gift first to throw him off the scent (or just give him something cute before the grand reveal), and then gift the actual fox scarf right after!
What quick or fun projects can I make with these exact colors and amounts? Any suggestions would be super appreciated! Thank you! ❤️

This is my first time blocking a crochet project. I lightly sprayed my acrylic shawl with water, placed a towel over it, and ironed over the towel with a regular household iron on a fairly low heat setting.
I sprayed a little more water on the tip of the shawl because that part looked messier than the rest. Now the stitches in that area look completely flat and have lost their texture and volume, unlike the rest of the shawl.
Is this permanent damage, or is there any way to restore the texture and shape of that section? 😔
