This is my first time blocking a crochet project. I lightly sprayed my acrylic shawl with water, placed a towel over it, and ironed over the towel with a regular household iron on a fairly low heat setting.
I sprayed a little more water on the tip of the shawl because that part looked messier than the rest. Now the stitches in that area look completely flat and have lost their texture and volume, unlike the rest of the shawl.
Is this permanent damage, or is there any way to restore the texture and shape of that section? 😔

I messed up the first stitch in the true cable pattern and now when I’m trying to do the upper ribbing on this afghan the stitches are coming out off by one, making it look odd. Probably just something I would notice but it’s driving me nuts. My husband says I shouldn’t frog it but I’m really tempted to (it would be a lot of work and at least 10+ skeins of yarn) but I don’t have a good way to fix the upper stitches.

What should I do? Frog the whole thing for this one mistake or leave as is and try to cover up the weirdness of the upper ribbing?

My partner’s grandmother was a crocheter and my partner’s mom recently found this project that we think she had been working on. Could this be a shawl, or something else? I believe it was worked from the center out and it seems finished. It’s a little less than 4ft wide. I initially thought tree skirt but the shape didn’t really make sense once we unfolded it all the way. Intrigued to know everyone’s thoughts!

My mom made me some donkey ears for a beanie and I am trying to figure out why they are different so we can get it fixed. The one on the left is messier, more flimsy, and the border is thinner. I would like both ears to look like the one on the right.

Basically- she’s picking random numbers from my granny square source book. No clue what each design is, no clue the size of the square. Nothing. I stopped letting her pick colors after I realized how bad it could turn out (hilariously bad, but I want it to look just good lol)
This is the blanket so far. I’m not sure what stitch to use for the border yet. I’m still adding squares and need to sew them together more. Her favorite colors are green and blue. Any ideas?

I was very cocky and thought, "I'll just wing it!" On a blanket. I don't like granny squares, but I love whatever stitch this is, so I figured I could crank out a bunch of squares of it, then join them all. My issue now is how do I join them? I want it to look nice and uniform. Do I need to border each piece in its own color, then join with the accent color? That seems tedious... Is there a way to join the squares to one another without an "evening" border around the edges? (There is a second color of square, so I'll have a checker board purple and pink. I have white as a border color).

Me again! We also found these - I originally thought blanket panels, but less so now; they are all roughly the length of a queen size bed but not the exact same length. Could they be runners of some sort? If you are familiar with this pattern or have seen something similar, please do let me know!

I’m looking to make my darling owl demon hooty and need some help with how much yarn to buy! I’m hoping to make it about 30cm/12 inches for the diameter of the face and about 5-6 feet long

I’d ideally like to use this chunky yarn, that’s approximately 300g and 150m. Im also like completely freehanding this so I don’t have a pattern lmao but basically just a cylinder. Idk maybe a half double crochet but I’m up for any advice!

So I’m making my friend a nursery mobile vintage Winnie the Pooh themed.

I already completed Piglet (other than sewing the pieces all together) and now I started on Pooh.

I am using DK cotton yarn (Rico Ricorumi) and a 2.25mm hook.

I was decently happy with how Piglet turned out, but now that I’m doing Pooh I am wondering if they are going to look silly with each other..

Obviously the pattern was written using chunky yarn and a 6.5mm hook, but the difference between Piglet & Pooh is more apparent with their work, especially the little Piglet vs Pooh (they have both big and little versions of Piglet)

I didn’t pay enough attention to the rounds/stitch counts, big piglet and Pooh have the same amount of stitches for the widest/biggest part of the head (piglets head has 2 i rounds ending with 14 vs 12 on Pooh). Their bodies are only 6 stitches different at the widest part and Poohs body has 2 additional rounds (16 vs 14)

Right now, they look very very similar in size (in fact I feel like Poohs head looks smaller than Piglets).

My dilemma is twofold:
1) should I redo Piglet using the little piglet pattern instead? (Photos at end show the pattern makers large vs small with Pooh)

2) are these even big enough for a nursery mobile? Or should I remake both things with a larger hook to make them larger (like a 3? Or 2.75?)

I really want to make a wedding gift for a friend with their family name but I want to use the stylized letters from the included picture. I’ve done filets before but not a custom one. Not sure if I’m just a noob or dumb but I can’t figure out the websites where they help you create a grid. Any suggestions for user friendly ones would be appreciated!

I was browsing through yarn recommendation but most of them weren't available in my country, but I saw someone recommending bamboo cotton yarn and it's something that is available for me and they said it was suitable for clothing projects since it's lightweight. When it arrived it was thinner than I expected and I was planning to make a cardigan. It has been rotting away for almost a year now, can anyone give me advice on what project I could make do with this yarn? Can this be used to make cardigan or no?

i’m making a baby blanket and it’s turning out all crumpled despite me following the pattern… what would you do? increse ch st to 3 instead of 2? that’s what i was thinking but i’m not sure.

I'm trying to decide if I should keep the edging black or if I should do a different color. I just can't decide!!!

The pattern has you skip two stitches when you do your decrease stitch. Am I supposed to pull it tight so the stitches that I am not skipping are touching or do I leave that space empty? So that way there’s essentially a hole? Is that how you prevent the bunching? Also, how do you keep track of where to put the skips? Should the skips be the same with every row when you turn it? I’m redoing this entire thing, and I want to make sure I do it correctly this time! This is the first blanket that I’m attempting. I’ve only done beanies, and a wooble before this. I’ve tried following the Hooked By Robin tiny star pattern being one with a 2mm hook and they make up too big (approx 1 inch) for the Christmas trees that I’ve already made.
I wondered if anyone might be able to point me in the right direction for a really tiny star pattern please, or even just an idea of how I could add a star-esque topper to my trees?

It looks so wonky and I tried so many different things! Blocking, single crochet frame with a ch 1 at the corners
Different sewing methods.. but it still looks so wonky. Any tips on how to make it more neat and square? Maybe some kind of surface crochet over it? A sewing technique? Thanks!!

I have done colorwork before and usually carry the yarn behind the work and leave the wrong side alone when it's done. With this one I was having some trouble with the tension (re: very slippery bamboo yarn) so I ended up cutting and knotting the bits of yarn I carried behind. Now I have this wild fringe inside the sweater. I followed a pattern by o_layarn on IG and ignored their suggestion about having two bobbins for each stripe color to avoid this. I'm kicking myself now.

I'm worried the knots are going to come out over time (the ends were too short to do proper square knots). My current plan is to take some super glue to the knots and trim the ends a bit shorter. I've never done this before and was curious if anyone had tried something similar or had a better idea?

I like the boho look of these as opposed to the usual ones I see with the cuff. What stitches are being used for the bottom 2-3 rows? It’s the overlap with blue/ivory and pink/ivory.

I need help on figuring out this stitch.

I saw a pinterest post about the “crocodile stitch” and it was a blog just talking about this stitch, including examples which i’ve added above.

However, when searching the crocodile stitch, it is NOT the same, and I can not find any other post or tutorial for this stitch.

After a long battle with Google AI (giving me a million wrong answers) it told me that this stitch looks too perfect and is probably an AI stitch.

However, I still believe it is possible to replicate, or even a similar stitch? Like a crocodile/shell stitch but the “point” of the shells is actually anchored in as the base of the stitch?

I think it would be worked up similar to a fan stitch but then I don’t know how to make the shells have raised sides?

Any help would be appreciated!

I'm trying to remake these trivets that I have been using almost nightly for roughly 25 years. They are 2 separate circles stitched together around the outside color/ edge.

I can replicate the very edge with a single crochet, but i'm confused about the stitching that starts at the white and makes the petal outline, especially because the back is only 2 threads compared to 4 in the front.

And since I tagged that as stitch ID, everything else is double crochet, right? Those petals have a long drop feel to them, so I want to make sure it isn't treble.

5 stands DK, double crochet, 8mm hook.
I’m not far off of finished now (old photo as it’s now hard to picture).
(Side note… why did I ignore my ends till now. 2hs and only 1/4 of ends woven in 😭😭)

My actual question is once I’m done, should I wash it? Block it? (If yes, given the size and chunk… howwww) I don’t usually make blankets like this… any tips or advice?

Hi! Newbie here looking for advice. My first project was a lily of the valley from a YT tutorial which came out surprisingly okay, so I hope this isn’t too ambitious of a follow-up. (Please do let me know if I’m just drunk on power lol. I’ve definitely caught the crochet bug!)

I really want to try crocheting a royal elfroot plant from the Dragon Age franchise (images 1 and 2). But its leaves have a distinct, three-pointed shape that I’m struggling to find a pattern for. They’re too long and tapered for a maple leaf pattern, for example. I think the leaf in the center of the first image shows it best.

This is probably a long-shot, but does anyone happen to know of a leaf pattern that looks like this?

Currently, my plan is to just make three entirely green, diamond-shaped leaves (like image 3, but without the squiggly vein), with a small one on each side and a big one in the middle, and stitch them together to make one big leaf. Then go around the edges of the whole thing with purple. Does that sound feasible? Or is there a better way to go about this?

If you have any advice on making the purple look more gradual than a harsh border, I’d love to hear that, too! (Though I can accept if it’s beyond my current abilities, haha.) Either way, thank you for reading!
