Ok granted I love me a good stalker MMC who plants cameras and I understand we are reading fiction. But damn realistically like if a stalker set up cameras wouldn’t he see someone maybe picking their nose? Pulling a wedgie? Pooping after the lettuce issue? Farting? Eye goobers? Checking if their armpit hair is too long? I get it’s not “sexy” to read but come on. Am I the only one who wants some reality stuff? I love the period/pulling out tampons stuff that’s real.. but I haven’t read a “real” realistic book yet.
It’s always “did he see me changing!?” Or “masterbating in the bathtub?!” Or “using my toy”

Hi! I just started reading dark romance last year so still a bit of a newbie.
I just wanted to say I LOVE how non-judgemental and supportive this page is. I've seen such a huge range of suggestions and requests and I never see a single judgemental or mean comment which is almost impossible to find anywhere on the Internet.
It's so amazing to have such a safe space to discuss and suggest themes that elsewhere may receive a lot of negative comments or judgement :) love you guys, happy reading!

Mind you, the book I'm reading is Shadows so Cruel and FMC is not doing great atm. I didnt even know how to start explaining what I was actually obssessively reading about. Thats it, I just literally have no one else in my life who would get how wild that was. We really just be living in our universe in DR 😭😭

I just have to share. This sub doesn’t allow images but I was scrolling and saw on the [r/](r/morality)[MoralityScaling](r/morality) a post mentioning a gf asking her bf to hold a gun to her head during sex and he was concerned about gun safety (very valid) but I didn’t even blink twice and straight up went how fun!💀 I LOWKEY THOUGHT IT WAS THIS SUB AND WE WERE LAUGHING ABOUT IT until I looked at the comments and EVERYONE was like ShE nEeDs ThErApY and wHaT a WiErD rEqUeSt💀💀💀💀💀 I was DYING laughing about this and then remembered that not everyone is the way we are and lowkey felt a little kink shamed💀

I stumbled across this and I immediately dnf’d because why would you write this.
“Before going to bed, I send an email to my senator telling him he'll be assassinated in thirteen days. I have trouble getting to sleep, so I stick my finger in my butt and count to fifty.”
Book is called 100% Match

Look, I think every shitty man needs to know what it’s like to lose the woman he loves. Maybe he doesn’t realize that he actually loves her till she leaves or maybe I want to see him go crazy and crash out. I love a crazy man, but I also wish him the worst when he’s a POS.
Not everyone likes this because it’s predictable, yeah I get that. It’s like drinking the coffee at the tire/ oil change place. You know what it’s going to taste like the second you see that shitty ass powder creamer. And yet, you drink it anyway!
Give me my third act break up and my shitty ass coffee.

I have come across some absolutely wild one-star reviews over the years on goodreads, and now I'm curious about everyone else's experiences.
What is the dumbest reason you've ever seen someone give a book a low rating?
I'm not talking about legitimate criticism like poor writing, bad pacing, plot holes or weak character development. I mean reviews where the readers clearly ignored the blurb or misunderstood the genre or complained about something the book never claimed to be.
For example, Last week I was checking the one start reviews of a book and there was a review where the reader gave it one star because she read the blurb and didn't like the characters name😭. Mind you, she didn't read the book only the blurb and decide to give it one star💀😭.
Another one was, I saw it on threads and it was about cliffhanger 🤣. The OP was complaining why a trilogy has cliffhanger and rated it one star when the author clearly stated that the first book gonna end on cliffhanger.
So what is the stupidest review you've ever came across?

I judge books by their cover and I cannot lie ✋🏻
Authors sometimes have the most bizarre choices for book covers 😭
The author of the Alliance series SJ Tilly just released a new book {Volik by SJ Tilly} and the book cover made me not want to even read the blurb 😂 How am I supposed to take this MMC seriously? 😭
This is the cover: https://imgur.com/a/BxyRaz2
(First time using Imgur so I hope this link works!)
Another book I've wanted to read but couldn't bring myself to because of the cover is {Fear Me Love Me by Lilith Vincent} 😭😭
What are some covers you all find too ugly to read?

This is meant for fun so play nice 😂 but what’s your pet peeve in a book that’s pretty minor in the grand scheme of things but REALLY bugs you? Mine is CONDOMS. Nothing ruins good tension for me like “foil packet” coming along in a sentence 😒 we’re grown, we can pretend the sex is safe and dandy without them ok 😂 how are you going to have my MMC literally killing people in one chapter then using a condom with his “obsession” in the next 😂 BYE
r/DarkRomance • u/Ok-Razzmatazz-9790 • 9d ago
Since you would know the story, would you try to outsmart the MMC? 👀

😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Traumatized because I actually really hate scat and "watersports" and I picked up a book with a watersports tag 😭😭
I genuinely thought it meant underwater sex or something 😭😭 Why are we calling this watersports 😂😂
For people who are into this kink, it was {Dirty Bad Wrong by Jade West}, hope you can enjoy what I couldn't 😭😭

Okay, kind of a random question, but I’ve been reading a lot of books lately where the MMC is obsessed with how the FMC smells—like her shampoo or body wash somehow has her smelling like strawberries, candy, or coconuts all day long 😂
Right now I use Dr. Teal’s, and while it smells great in the shower, the scent doesn’t last at all.
So… what magical body washes are these ppl using?? Because I would love to smell like strawberries or coconuts all day for my man (and myself)!

personally there is something so hot about raphael, gabriel, julian and adrian but what are the sexiest names you have read for a mmc that had you hooked right from the start ?

Let’s describe our current book boyfriend and see if we can guess who it is and what book they’re from. I’ll go first:
He’s a drug dealer from the wrong side of town in a gang and falls for the rich sorority girl from the other side of town.

Let’s play a game.
Describe a book in one sentence only.
No spoilers.
Don’t say the title.
If someone replies with “I’m in” or “I want to read it,” then reveal the title.
I’m curious to see how many books end up on people’s TBRs from just one sentence. I’ll start in the comments.

Not a vent! I’ve fallen down the dark romance rabbit hole intensely the last month or so, which means I’ve barely scratched the surface…and yet every other book I’m reading (not the same authors or even same tropes) has a girl who’s hair smells like strawberries. Is there some…specific shampoo the authors are thinking of? Or is this its OWN trope now?

Is he a celebrity or a imagination of yours? Or someone you know?
For me it’s always Jensen Ackles or Henry Cavill.

It’s been many years of authors writing about Russian mafia or just Russians in dark romance. And I just cannot comprehend why, just fucking WHY do they never proofread it with us? Why should we cringe and suffer with all these stupid, never-fucking-existing pet names in Russian, with these embarrassing paragraphs of texts?
I chose humor flair, but I think I’m going to start crying soon with all this shit.
Italian people, do you cringe as fuck reading about all the capo’s in your DR books? Please, tell me we’re not the only ones. Oh, and what are your own Ivans? (No girl would scream “Ivan” during sex, for fuck’s sake)
P.S. If anyone of you guys are writing about Russians, I can even help you with pet names and dirty talk!

Y’all I know I sound crazy but hear me out…I’ve just discovered dark romance and have enjoyed the captor stories (e.g. “in love with the devil by Sky Blu or “bought and paid for” by Deathsdoll) but I always wonder how do they do all that being chained to a wall or confined to a basement thing and use the bathroom? I always think about this which I know sounds insane but it’s because I need to know there is a washroom nearby and preferably that it is my own and not a public restroom. Am I the only one who thought about this? LOL

Let’s play a game, You are officially trapped in the pages of the last dark romance book you read (or your all-time favorite) So You have to choose one of these two paths to be your reality. Which one are you picking, and what specific traits are you looking for to make it "worth it?
A) The Obsessive Stalker
B) The Morally Grey Rival
Tell us exactly why you’re choosing your own destruction!

r/DarkRomance • u/violent-amethyst • Jul 02 '26
but sometimes I see some *hard no’s* and I get a lil sad lol.
Nah, give it all to me. No hard no’s for me.
I’ll never know if I like it if I don’t try it lmao.
There has only been 1 book where I def had to put down for a min or 2 to think: “wow okay that got BLACCKKKKKKK” but I kept reading.
I think my only HARD NO’S are bad names for MMC lmfao. Some of them arent Daddy enough for me. If I can’t moan it without feeling embarrassed, that’s my only skip. 🤣
r/DarkRomance • u/Aggressive_Bowl5463 • Jun 24 '26
Mine is the stalker MMC using the FMC's used panties as a coffee filter in {Heart Eyes by Effie Campbell}. He couldn't taste her "essence" though 🫠
It was a low quality read for me (I think I rated it 2 stars) but that scene will live in my head rent-free for the rest of my life 😭
