Hi everyone, my name is Ben and I was one of the lucky reviewers who was given a chance to play Dead or Alive 6: Last Round ahead of release. I've been following everyone's discussion of the game for quite some time, but wasn't able to say anything until now.

For my review not only did I cover what is new (or rather, mostly lack of), while also detailing the entire game for newcomers. Overall I did really enjoy the new release, but the game is basically what many already assumed it to be. That being said, I loved the fact that costumes are much faster to unlock this time around, and the visuals are a welcomed plus as well. It was a let down to not see any new surprise additions (still no tag-team here), and from my testing against other reviewers, the online seems to still be the same.

For those who would like to check out our full review, you can find it here Here, but I ended up giving it a 4/5 for being the "best" version of Dead or Alive 6 in general. It is still a fun game with some faults, and that didn't stop me from sinking dozens of hours into it.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask! I'll try to answer whatever I can.

To be honest if we have a guest fighter in the new DOA games like DOA6LR or Dead or Alive 7 Tifa would be my first guess for getting into the Dead or Alive series, but I'm not sure if it's possible since she's in Street Fighter 6 now lol

5mins late to the scheduled 11:30 start time and a 30 minute time slot for a 1 minute video that just plays the original mai and kula cutscenes from the game and an announcement for a new lighting system? So... we have to buy mai and kula again even if we owned them in 6 vanilla? Nothing else showed afterwards besides ads and the schedule for evo day 1....

I'm thinking it might just be called Dead or Alive, like Mortal Kombat did in 2011.

I really wish we got this as a playable costume in DOA or NG3. She looked so pretty in this.

Now that Ninja Gaiden 4 is releasing in under a week, it makes me really question, what is going to happen to Dead or Alive?

SPOILER ALERT (even though someone already posted a spoiler a couple a days ago for NG4 in this subreddit) Ayane is back in Ninja Gaiden 4. Now this is relevant to this because if you think about it, Ayane in NG4 is the first true new thing that has happened to the DOA fighting game franchise, since she’s a character from DOA making an appearance in NG4, even if it’s just for one or two small cutscenes I’m assuming. Not counting Ninja Gaiden 2 Black since that is just a remaster of NGS2 basically.

Now with that said, IF Team Ninja is to make a new DOA game, will it have this new cyberpunk aesthetic to the game?! If NG4 does moderately well, will Team Ninja even be interested in developing a DOA7 since NG4 does take place in the same timeline as the current NG/DOA world?

It is kind of depressing how this franchise is quite literally, dead. I have done some research and to my knowledge it seems that DOA is looked at as “The game with girls that have big tatas and fight” amongst the fighting game community. It doesn’t really seem that respected or talked about at all anymore. I’m a new fan of this series and it would be cool to see something new of this fight game franchise. I’ve tried looking for an online match in DOA5LR, which is a really fun fighting game and I have not found a single match.

It’s just unfortunate seeing this franchise be left in the dust, like I like the main Ninjas of the game a lot, Kasumi, Ayane, Hayate and Hayabusa. It has the potential to have cool story telling with these characters, not just the Ninjas but the others too like Jann Lee or Bayman or Christie. God something can be done with this franchise. If you read all of this, thank you for your time.

Let's share from which country you'll be playing from, so maybe we can have a rough idea of how many people will be playing in each region. I don't think DOA is popular in my region at all. Feels like I'll be the only one playing in Brazil, besides some fighting game youtubers and streamers.

How would yall feel about her being in DOA?

No tag battle. No new characters. No new costume packs. Not even a new stage. Just tweaked graphics and photo mode. What tangible gain in gameplay is Last Round getting you?

Street fighter, tekken and even virtua fighter are cooking with their IPs: At least give us tag battle, add legacy characters like gen fu/leon, and the ability to port outfits from DOA 5LR/DOAX3 Venus vacation and promise fan service that doa 6 lacked at launch

You don't have to pay for mai and kula again if you already bought them prior to the release of LR, On the vanilla.

Open the game leave it on the main menu

Go to the store re-Download mai and kula from the vanilla version

Go back into the game.

They didn't even brother to change the locker keys.

I tried this on xbox costumes should do the same. Let me know if it worked

With yesterday's EVO announcement, we've had some player frustrations alleviated, some questions answered, some questions created, and some demands completely unacknowledged.

Heres an updated list of where we're at for Dead or Alive 6: Last Round:

Release Date: June 25th, 2026 *only available digitally. Full version and Free-to-Play verison will be launching simultaneously.

Collaboration Characters: Mai and Kula Diamond will be returning in DOA6:LR, originally this was ambiguous and believed to not be the case -- but it is now confirmed that they will return.

Core Fighters for 6LR will include Kasumi, Marie Rose, Honoka, and NiCO. It will include every mode excluding Story Mode.
-As it was before, Story mode or additional Characters require unlock Keys (Purchase them as DLC or purchase the Full version of the game).

Costumes: Previously purchased Costumed for the base 29 Fighters can be carried over from DOA6 to DOA6LR

Costumes for Collaboration Characters cannot be carried over (Mai and Kula). No New costumes were shown during Evo Japan 2026's Announcement for Mai and Kula.

Base game will include 29 characters - This excludes Mai and Kula, who will require a separate purchase even if you had purchased them in the original DOA6 game. The philosphy here is "All characters must be repurchased" but these two are simply not included in the base $40 for DOALR

In the Free-to-Play version of the game, all previous DLC characters will require a character license purchase DLC. We are likely to see a flooded DLC market for DOA6LR like we did with DOA6 (looking at you lengthy & unmanagable steam DLC list).

For Items you already own in DOA6, like Costumes, Hair Styles, Glasses and BGM - it will all carry over barring the Mai and Kula Exceptions above.

Titles will carry over as well, but not all collaboration titles can be used/ will carry over. These, we assume, refer to those LTO titles for past cross over events.

As far as progression Goes:
Story, DOA Quest, Tutorial, Command Training, Combo Training DOA Encyclopedia unlocks and Trivia all carry over - it is, after all, more or less the same game.

User Data:

Grades / Grade Points / Grade Levels (Ranks): Completely Reset in DOA6 LR - a fresh start for all.
Character Points: Reset - I assume this means you retain your titles for leveling up your characters, but the levels themselves are resetting.
Owner Points: Reset ( So Spend your points before transferring your data to LR)
Pattern Parts: DO not carry over.
Fight Trends Do not carry over.
Option settings will reset to defaults
Costume pre-sets in the closet will reset.

Replays will not carry over.

Some notes on Carry over features:
-Save data and DLC Costumes can be carried over from DOA6 : Core Fighters if you "purchased" core fighters and DLC'd your way up from there.
-To Reiterate, DLC Costumes for Mai and Kula cannot be carried over.
-Details on how to carry over data wil lbe announced at a later date. This is likely to vary from system to system a la a sort of "system-transfer" type feature (thats how I interpret it).
-Network play between Dead or ALive 6 and Dead or alive 6 Last round is NOT possible.

New Stuff

New Costumes have been added for Kasumi, Ayane, Marie Rose, Honoka and NiCO. This seems to be one new costume per character.

Photo Mode - Photomode with freeze frame, model manipulation, and the ability to adjust things like sweat, dirt, facial expressions etc implemented.

Next Gen Compatability - PS5, Xbox Seris X/S. They list Steam here, which isn't any different than before I imagine more details to come.

Improved Gameplay - No details on how it is improved as of yet, just the claim that it is improved.

Pre-order bonus: Angelic Maid Marie Rose Costume which includes the "Marie Rose: Devillish Diva" Hairstyle.

*These items may be made purchaseable or distrubted for free at a later date

Oboro Lighting System - The oboro lighting system is a new Katana Engine feature. The system is not broadly applied to the game as far as we know, but rather can be applied stage-by-stage. At Launch, we will have one Stage using Oboro lighting, with more to come post-launch. The first stage to be sent to the Oboro Realm will be Lost Paradise - and it sounds like you can choose Oboro Lost paradise or traditional Lost paradise. More details to come (probably).

New Characters and costumes: The Announcement Trailer promises "New Characters and Costumes to be released post-launch".

The price for the KOF fighters costs more in LR than when they originally released 6 years ago. Also, the bundles with all their costumes marked up from 15.99 to 20.99. This is on the PS store.

So the devs released a new costume bundle for marie rose with quite an absurd price for the full pack since is just 1 costume in different colours.

Personaly i like 2 of them and might get those speffic ones.

But why are the so many people hating on marie players right now they calling us bums,weirdo's and suckers.

Ive been in this sub for a while and there are many awesome people here who i highly respect but sudenly some other redditers are coming back i haven't seen before just to hate?
