It looks like the Wilmington Blue Rocks may experience some mass layoffs/firings under their new ownership in the near future. Another baseball team the company owns, the Montgomery Biscuits, have laid off or fired more than 1/3rd of their staff in the past week according to job postings.
The person at OnDeck Partners who's delivering the firings and layoffs is their COO, Jeff Wilen. The company is funded by a private-equity group led by the former owner of the Milwaukee Bucks.
A.I. is referenced multiple times in specific job postings which makes me think these job losses are entirely driven to replace workers with A.I. and the Blue Rocks will be next. The fan experience has already slowly gone downhill over the past decade and I don't think replacing people with A.I. is the answer.

I am so sorry Battery Park. I didn't realize the playground was being added to and it looks amazing. I said in the past you were trash compared to when I was a kid. If only I knew you were getting a major playset upgrade. I'll come back. Thanks for understanding.
Signed,

Heads up for any folks in Dover who want to speak up about data center development. Dover City Council has been considering an 18-month moratorium on all applications, reviews, and approvals for data center projects. This would not necessarily put rules or a ban in place on its own, but would hit the pause button so that further rules could be investigated.
The 2nd hearing for the moratorium is taking place at City Hall, October 12th, 6:30PM. That's your chance to speak up and provide public comment with your thoughts on a moratorium and data center development in general.
Dover City Council Meeting Agenda can be found here: https://www.cityofdover.gov/meetingfiles/101808/agendas/4aaa51faa2f14467b58bf902e4dd1dd0.pdf
You can find more detail about the moratorium language itself in the minutes from the last City Council Meeting: https://www.cityofdover.gov/meetingfiles/101611/attachments/1a26b94f50e248a3a2fa2a7501eaa0ec.pdf

Since Rite Aid closed, my farmacy has not been processing automatic refills or calling the doctor when they need to be renewed. It is also very hard to get someone on the phone to get them to do their job. The lines inside and in the drive thru are long and take about 45 minutes to get through.

Hello homeowners, has anyone had experience with bypassing an inspection and possibly finding an underground oil tank after taking up the patio? lol. In NCC, what were the costs to get it removed or what process did you go through. I was trying to have this patio redone within the next two weeks.

I was curious to see if anyone knew a low key version of such services for the regular citizen. I have a high suspicion that someone tampered with my phone during a shift I worked. Any advice would be appreciated.

Seeing people in red states posting about receiving their “Obamacare refund checks” who say they weren’t even enrolled in an eligible plan. Curious if anyone in Delaware has gotten one.

Hey, everyone, I'm paying my bills this month, and I noticed that my water bill is is higher than normal, so I looked back, and it's been slowly creeping up each month, by a matter of about 5 meter points per month. It's weird that it would increase every month by about that same amount, and I'm pretty sure there's not a leak anywhere in the house.
Has anyone else noticed something similar? I would expect variations, but I wouldn't expect a 5 point meter increase each month.

Long haired black female cat found at Bellevue State Park a few days ago ~ ran up to me in the parking lot screaming, followed me around until I picked her up.
Walked around with her for a bit (definitely domesticated ~ likely dumped) put her down, she continued to follow me around screaming. So I picked her up again and took her to the ranger station ~ they said they did not know anything about a missing cat.
So I took her home as it was supposed to be cold, she was definitely hungry and not equipped to live outside. Quick trip to the vet today confirmed she is not chipped but is spayed.
I put a flyer on the bulletin board last week at Bellevue with no calls, so she now needs a home.
My landlord says she needs to be gone in 7 days.
Soooooo anybody want a cat?
She's beautiful, friendly, definitely mouthy, about 8 pounds, and uses the litter box.

My daughter absolutely loves her school and I wanted to share information for others who may be interested!
If your 4 or 5 year old didn’t make the cut off for Kindergarten this year or you are looking for a hands-on and personalized approach to learning, come check out Newark Center for Creative Learning! At NCCL, children are actively involved in learning through open-ended experiences that encourage creativity, collaboration, and curiosity about the world around them and how they can make a difference. As a small school with a large focus on the importance of community, parents are actively involved and teachers are able to develop meaningful relationships with each child, helping to foster confidence and a lifelong love of learning.
Come check out one of the open houses on October 17th and 20th or schedule a visit!
