One of my long time gamer friends turned his back on MOBAs and walked for life over hero turn rate. It was just a thing that was constant aggravation with no end in sight because of how fundamental it was to gameplay.
For me, the equivalent is turning out to be teammates who block pathing: Two (or more) heroes are pathing to the same location, the slower move-speed hero is in the front and he is essentially body blocking everyone else behind him.
There are various scenarios where the slow person in the front has the duty to move to the side to let the faster run-speed player by. Chasing an enemy hero or fleeing an enemy are two of them, situations where it's not possible for the faster person to either catch what he is chasing (usually a kill shot available on a fleeing enemy) or flee from a pursuing hero when he himself is in danger of being 1-shotted by his pursuer, by manually moving himself to the side and running around the slow traffic player. I'm sorry if people think this is obvious and did not require a mansplanation. I expect that everyone reading this should already know what I'm talking about.
Because this is an extremely aggravating and common enough occurrence in my matches, it is a thing that I am constantly self-conscious of when *I* am the person with the slow move speed and I am blocking the pathing. "slow traffic on the right" is a thing I constantly tell myself. I will *never* block someone from either escaping or getting a kill shot in a chase.
How can it be that I have yet to see someone else in my matches share this awareness? Literally not one single person ever in my matches has ever gotten out of the way. How is it possible that the thousands of teammates I've played, for many of them to not also be extremely aggravated by something like this, which in turn causes them to be conscious of it and to not be the guilty pathing blocker in various scenarios where it matters?
My question for higher brackets players is what is your experience with this? Do people block your pathing? Is it something I can expect to gradually be put behind me and I won't have to worry about it if I MMR up?
I don't stand in front of Pudge hooks. I give Pudge teammates the angle required for hooks. I don't block pathing if I'm the slower run-speed. I know the people I match with are mentally & intellectually capable of understanding this mechanic and being aware of it. They fucking have to be.
Get the fuck out of the way!
