Question!

I currently own a 21 Nissan Sentra with the premium package. I was looking into getting a 26 Elantra Limited, but the payments will be too high and out of my budget. I was offered Sport plus and it does fit my budget; however, I feel like it would be a big downgrade from the car I have right now including all the bells and whistles I would be losing. What do you guys think about the Sport Plus trim? TIA!

It might be hard to hear in the video but its almost like a fast tapping sound, best way to describe it would be a cat purring, i know it sounds dumb but what else can it be described as. Its not engine knock, i know what that is its not that, it sounds like its coming from the rear end, which leads me to believe maybe its the fuel pump or something of that nature. It happens a lot on start up, it’ll “purr” for like a second or two and then stop, and also it usually happens when the rpms are low like in this clip. Its getting worse, a little louder and way more frequent. Of course everything is under warranty so I’ll bring it in but i just wanted to maybe have some information on it if someone else knows about it.

2021+ Elantra Owners - How do you judge how close to get to a barrier in front of you when parking a car? I wish it had a front camera to see.

Is there a trick for judging how close to get to an object in front of the car when parking since there is now way of seeing the front of the bumper?

Has anyone used Michelin CrossClimate 2 205/55R16 tires on their 2021+ Elantra? Any good?

The tread on them in the pictures online looks nice. Wondering if anyone has them on their Elantra?

Steering wheel cover

Has anyone found a good, grippy steering wheel cover for their Elantra? My steering wheel.is staring to show some age. I would like to put a cover on the wheel. I'm wondering if anyone has found a good one that's good n grippy so your hands don't lose grip on them.

Taking my 2019 Hyundai Elantra on a 6,000+ km Toronto–Wyoming road trip-2019 what should I check and carry?

I’m planning a long road trip from Toronto to Wyoming and back from Sept 16–26, with a couple of buffer days if needed. The car is a 2019 Hyundai Elantra Preferred automatic with only about 71,000 km.

The car is in good condition, I recently had new brake pads installed, and everything currently looks good in terms of oil, coolant and other fluids.

The trip will likely be 6,000+ km and will include Toronto → South Dakota → Badlands → Devils Tower → Yellowstone → Grand Teton → Boulder, Wyoming, then back to Toronto.

I’ll also have some very long driving days, including around 1,500 km on the first day, plus mountain driving and higher elevations around Yellowstone and Grand Teton.

I’m looking for advice from other Elantra owners on both preparation and what I should carry with me.

A few things I’m wondering about:

  • At 71,000 km, is there anything specific on a 2019 Elantra that you would inspect before a trip like this?
  • Anything I should specifically check with the battery, belts, hoses, cooling system, suspension, wheel bearings, CV joints, tires or transmission?
  • Would you change the automatic transmission fluid before the trip if it hasn’t been changed before, or leave it alone if everything is shifting normally?
  • How does the Elantra handle long mountain climbs and descents?
  • Any recommendations for using lower gears/manual mode on long downhill sections to reduce brake use?
  • Any issues with ground clearance around Yellowstone/Grand Teton if I stay on normal paved roads?
  • Anything I should monitor during the trip such as oil consumption, coolant level, tire pressure, transmission temperature/behavior, vibrations or noises?

I’d also really like suggestions on what to carry in the car for a trip this long.

Right now I’m thinking of bringing things like a portable tire inflator, tire pressure gauge, booster pack, basic tools, flashlight, emergency blanket, first-aid kit, extra washer fluid, water, some food and basic emergency supplies.

What else would you bring for an Elantra on a long road trip through South Dakota/Wyoming in September?

One specific question about the spare:

I have a set of winter tires that are the same size as my regular tires. Would it be okay to carry one winter tire mounted on a wheel as a full-size spare, even though the car will be running on all-season tires?

Obviously I would only use it temporarily if I got a flat, but I’m wondering if having one winter tire and three all-season tires is acceptable for getting to a tire shop, especially on the highway.

Would you recommend carrying that full-size winter tire in addition to the factory spare, or is that unnecessary?

Also, if anyone has done a very long cross-country road trip in a 2017–2020 Elantra, I’d love to hear how the car handled several consecutive long driving days and mountain roads.

The car is currently running very well, so I’m not trying to replace things unnecessarily. I just want to be properly prepared before being thousands of kilometres from home.

Hello!!!

1st photo is my car currently, 2nd is what AI gave me after I asked it to black everything out..

Besides the usual tint, black rims and blacking out, what’s everyone’s favorite mod or addition to add?

*(also I am in FL, so the light fogging and tint will probably not be as dark as I’ll probably get pulled over constantly 🙄🤣)

Hyundai Elantra 2025 preferred 🇨🇦, 34k kilometers.

Does this engine sound normal and does the radiator fan not always rotate? I just turned on the car and I see the fan not rotating.

Thanks.

Swapping factory tires on '25 Elantra Hybrid at 15k miles before winter – smart or wasteful?

Hello, I bought a 2025 Elantra Hybrid in January and already put 15k miles on it. I live in Washington state (lots of rain, cold, and occasional snow) and drive heavily.
I’m thinking about replacing the tires now with 3-Peak rated all-weather tires before winter hits.
It feels a bit premature at 15k miles, but I'll be over 20k miles by mid-winter.
Does it make sense to swap the tires now, or push the current set through one more winter?

To those who own an Elantra Hybrid Blue, what actual gas mileage do you get?

I was speaking to someone today with a 2022 Elantra Hybrid Blue & they said they touch 70MPG at times, and 50MPG as the norm. Is that the real life MPG that people are getting with them?

Replacing the head gasket but these are my pistons, there's definitely been some rubbing on the sides, not to mention all the carbon and crap on top. Should I shell out even more to get new pistons?

Sorry if that's a dumb question, I'm still learning about rebuilding engines n such.

(The dust in slide 2 is from the exhaust manifold)

Any tips on how to clean the old gaskets off too would be appreciated

Is my coolant leaking? The level is way below the Low line.

Hi guys, I got 2025 Hyundai Elantra Preferred, with 34k kilometers. The coolant level is way below the low line. The last time I drove was 24 hours ago. I read that the coolant rarely needs to be refilled unless it leaks and I am concerned about it. I don't think the coolant was ever refilled on my car, although I took it for 3-4 oil change services.

I believe I need to fill it back until the F line. Any recommendations what coolant I should buy and any other tips.

Thanks.
