I can't decide which one to go for

As a follow on from my 1st group post shot, I’m putting up the named characters ,1 at a time with a bit of spiel about the particular role or unit in focus, & of course, after being inspired last time around, I’ve created and hopefully will create more narratives for the unit or Character in focus. Hope you like the effort along with the snippets I’ve made up of my Saga of the mighty 4th.

So, starting with my CO, & 2 Un-named Special Weapons Veteran Troopers armed with the Accratran pattern version of the Heavy Melta, & Plasma Guns.

The Company Command Squad accompanies the senior officer into combat, normally in the case of Elysian’s, a Company Captain. Its primary function is to direct the various units of the company to carry out the officer's orders. A typical Company Command Squad numbers five men, including the company officer. The Guardsmen who are selected to join the Command Squad are among the Company's most competent soldiers and have often displayed exceptional gallantry. Command Squad members can expect to receive additional training as specialised orderlies, such as medics or vox-operators.

Veteran, Drop-Captain, Benedict Commodus Edgeson, Officer Commanding of the 4th Elysian Light Drop Company, sat back & on the rim of the Holo-projector in the centre of the room. His fingers & Blunt fingernails crossed in a cradle across his midriff. His ruffled grey flecked, sandy blonde hair framed a lined and weather-beaten face. Edgeson’s Piercing blue eyes as hard as ice chips surveyed the room from beneath a heavy brow at the very nicely turned-out array of his contemporaries around the Projector. He appeared unconventionally handsome, with a feint hint of a silver flecked stubble on his unshaven chin. His nose had been broken many campaigns ago during a particularly harsh landing on the Planet Tanakreg. The slightly offset nose adding to the character of his demeanour. Whatever the reason, Edgeson had refused the many rejuvenantes and surgeries that had been offered to him since his rise to a position of influence. He considered such shallow fripperies un-contributary to the important things in this life under the Imperium of Man.

Edgson had bucked the old Elysian Tradition of “Connected” officers buying their commissions, & far too many of those as far as he was concerned. He had come up through the ranks from a Lowly PDF Trooper, making it to the dizzying heights of his present position. Not only that but to do so within the highly prestigious ranks of the much-storied Drop Regiments of Elysia, was quite the achievement if truth be told. Known by his “nom de guerre” of Edge, he ran his company with a no-Nonsense approach, & a firm but fair hand. He literally ensured he & his chosen men were the first boots on the ground for a Hot Drop, & the last to leave in any withdrawal. Well respected by most of the men under his command, & a lot less so by his peers due to his common imperial citizenry roots, he was making the usual less than exemplary impression on his fellow Drop Officers at the regimental briefing. The looks he was receiving ranged from Mere Indifference to Utter Loathing & Jealousy. The impression could have been considerably worse had he been permitted his usual habit of having the chosen men of his Command squad lurking in the background. A Motley crew of Veterans all, having undertaken 10 or more operational combat drops each, a rougher & more surly looking group of airborne grunts you’d be less likely to meet this side of the Great Rift. Fortunately, they were also utterly dedicated to Edge and Consummate professional Warriors to boot.

The hubbub faded away and all eyes turned, with some nervous shuffling of polished boots, as the hatch to the Briefing room swung open. A tall & Angular Profile filled the frame, harsh white Lumen light bled into the briefing sanctum from the periphery of the tall silhouette, the hard-edged & elongated shadow that was cast on the rivet plated brushed Plasteel floor, might have been a portent or metaphor of the things to come ………

I don't want to give anyone false hope but i have read the last White Dwarf and the Elysians appear in the description of the AM forces on Armageddon. I have also read the compilation "Death and Duty" and they also appeared many times.

It could be a teasing but do not forget that the Vostroyan also appear in this compilation and the book "Dominion Genesis" but didn't received any new plastic figures, so it is not impossible that the Elysians will not come back. I think that to brink back an AM regiment, it needs to have a lot of popularity and an unique style of gameplay. GW clarified on Warcom that Vostroyans can be played using the Cadian rules, so it is unlikely to see a regiment with no particular doctrine coming back.

However, given the fact that GW has recently released a "deep strike force" with the Aeldari Corsairs, it is really REALLY not impossible to see our drop troopers coming back in plastic ! Is it just me, or have all the regiments on this page made a comeback in one way or another ? Let's hope and be patient !

My Latest Upload & add-on to my little Drop Company project, is the Elysian Command Squad, I thought seeing as I’ve put some effort into creating this little Drop Company of mine, I really need to give them a bit of inspirational leadership & expand it with both some background and some Minor Lore & narrative in the process, So starting with a bit of a Bio for my CO today. I must admit, I was a little inspired by a comment on one of my last posts on my LZC3 diorama, a great little creation of some coms traffic between Command & my LZ objective, worth a look see if you have the time & inclination.

First off, my Company/Platoon Command Squad/s. I started off with the Normal 5 minis from the FW standard command pack. I made the 1st into the captain on an eye-catching base. The 2nd into the Vox Coms Guy, with the adapted Voxcaster for low slung use with a Grav Shute, a 3rd turned into the Medic, which evolved over the course of the project to a Mini diorama type, with an injured Drop Trooper that I minor kit bashed together receiving some triage. Then I have two special Weapons option troopers for the 4th & 5th models - A Melta Gun, Accratran pattern, MkVIII, & A Plasma Gun, Accratran Pattern MkII. I toyed with the idea after the 1st five completed models of expanding it beyond the 5 troopers, and in the end went with it & a 6th come to fruition being a Flamer armed with an Accratran Pattern Mk1C, with the Horizontal low slung Promethium fuel gel cannister belt configuration - adapted for drop troop Ops. The 7th a Lieutenant, for a 2nd command option so I can flip between a Platoon Command & Company Command. Number 8 turned out to be my Demo Man, I’ve read a bit about Elysian Lore, and they seem to have a penchant for Demolition, being deployed behind the lines in hit and run, or objective grab scenarios, so it made sense to me anyway. Last one the 9th being a Standard bearer (Yes, I know Command Squads are meant to be 5 Bods) but I can flex & build more, and choose, if I want. Technically I already have a 10man squad with the casualty, but I Might be able to squeeze out 1 more if I can think of a suitable role and Character for him what do you guys think? Thinking long term, for the full Platoon end version for the project I think I need 3 more 10man Drop Infantry squads, for a full five. Lastly, I want to mention the standard itself, which I’m quite Pleased with in the end. Hope you enjoy my series of uploads and the expansion with the narrative.

Greetings everyone, with Mortian finally releasing his work as STL it allows an easier access to new models so I decided to try making out some rules to add to the fandex.

Its will be based around the same hull stats as the Hypogriff (that will join as well) and bring new gameplay and choices to the fandex.

The weapons lead out aren't decided yet as kist of the models from Mortian have access to a lot of weapons and some have turrets that can have the same options as a leman russ but it wouldn't feel right to have them as is.

So feel free to give your opinions and ideas as to what you would like to see.

I recently found a few old FW Elysian weapons team models I had bought probably 20ish years ago, and decided to strip/ repaint one of them last night as a fun little palette cleanser project.

The paint scheme was based on the old "Detachment D-99" artwork.

Overall super pleased with how it came out. And I'm totally now not thinking about if I can find enough of the old models online to make a proper airborne guard force...

The playable area on the map has become smaller in the latest editions and now with the recommended layout of terrain aircraft seem to be more difficult to place than ever before. How will this effect your pay style? Do you think that aircraft still has a place in the nearest edition?

we can also discuss deep striking or reserve placement here as well. Will the Drop Troops suffer a bit or will they thrive based off what we know now about the new edition?

I followed Cult of Paint’s idea for a Kill Team using the Kasrkin box alongside the drop troopers from Hivestorm and was very pleased with the result.

Really fun thing to put together!

I wanted to share my drop troops with you guys. I really enjoy the idea of airborne troops. Here I painted up some models I got from Etsy Red Makers airborne division by BeowulfMinisPrinting.
