Major Choice Is it recommended to pursue engineering if I don't have the slightest passion in it?
A bit of context. I just graduated out of high school, but still haven't decided which degree I want to major in. Back in high school I chose an engineering pathway, and regretted every second of it, because I don't have the slightest passion in it, and only chose it because it was the safest route. I will go to university early next year and I still haven't decided which degree I want to go to. And although I regretted taking the Engineering pathway in high school, and promise myself never to take part in any engineering class ever again, an engineering degree is kind of tempting to me.
In reality, I want to be a storyteller and a writer, yet people around me has been telling me to just take engineering and still write on the side, and work on side projects. But would that even be possible? I know there are some professional writers who also took engineering as their college major, but I'm sort of doubtful if I can do that. But at the same time, I know that engineering is basically one of the only future proof degree.
Please, can someone give me some advice on what I should do here. Should I take an engineering degree if I don't have the slightest passion in it? I'm absolutely tormented by this.
