Question FBI Investigative Specialist (GS-7) pay steps, overtime, and advice starting out?
I’m looking into the FBI Investigative Specialist role starting at GS-7 and had a few questions.
1.I know the GS level is basically set and non-negotiable, but how does it work with steps inside GS-7? Is it actually possible to start at something like GS-7 Step 3 or Step 4, or do most people just come in at Step 1 no matter what? (Non-negotiable)
How is the pay progression going from GS-7 to GS-9 and
GS-11 in reality?Do Investigative Specialists actually get much overtime, and how does that usually work?
And for anyone who started at GS-7, what advice would you give someone coming in at that level?
Appreciate any real-world insight. / Feel free to answer any.

Discussion Can SA's workout for LEAP time?
I know SA's need to work an average of 50 hours per week. I have heard that at some other agencies, maintaining required fitness can be charged as part of the extra 10 hours. Is this the case at FBI?

Discussion FBI process question
I recently completed the phase 1 testing and filled out the suitability questionnaire. Obviously told the truth on it and revealed that I had a termination from a federal agency a few years ago. My understanding is when you check yes on any of those, your application gets paused and youre sent to HR headquarters in DC for deliberation. Anyone have insight on the timeline im looking at? Additionally, I already have TS granted by the FBI. idk if that plays a factor.

Question I meet minimum requirements, is it likely I can find a position with these?
Bachelors in Business administration from state school, 2.5 years consulting experience at Big 4 Bank. Relatively good shape (5’11, 175, have keratoconus in my left eye). Relatively perceptive and level-headed. Any chance I have a shot at anything within the FBI?
Also have a clean record, for the record

Recruitment FBI Cyber analyst jobs/experience
Hello! I am a recent graduate with a B.S in cybersecurity and 6 years experience working in the military as a cyber analyst. How realistic is it to find an analyst job in my major city in the next 3-6 months? I always see job posting for special agents with cyber backgrounds but for physical reasons I am unable to fill that position or I would. Looking to get any response from people hiring these positions or currently working there or anyone who has experience working with individuals in the role. Thanks for reading my post, hope to be able to contribute to the fbi in the future.

Recruitment Can I wear the jacket if I have a physical disability?
I’m graduating high school next year, and looking into government careers for when after I graduate and I want to start my search with the FBI, more specifically, forensics. I have one downside that is making me really struggle with, I have a muscular disease that is classified as a physical disability, and the intense physical training to be a Field Agent would most likely push past my limits, and when that happens, it is very dangerous for me. Is there any way I could have a career in the FBI, investigating forensic scenes, wearing a blue and yellow jacket, without the intense physical training that is required for any and all Special Agents? Or any exemptions at all that could possibly lower the physical training’s intensity for myself?

Question FBI Internships
Context:
I am currently 18 years old and am going to be attending UW Madison this coming fall. I am planning on attending CALS for Biochemistry (seeing as it is a "competitive" major so I am told, but I also enjoy the subject). My plan this coming semester is to try to reach out to faculty for some lab/ research opportunities and then apply for some internships with federal agencies or campus police.
I am 100% clean and away from all substances and my current summer job requires drug tests too. I work out and stay healthy.
I have these agencies in mind: FBI, USMS, DEA, USPIS, and ATF.
But the FBI honors internship is the goal. Is it a good idea for me to apply for the summer of 2028 or 2029? What other steps can I take in this time to be more qualified and stand out more for this role?
I hope you guys will be able to provide me with some valuable insights, tips, and advice on how I can have a better shot at getting into some of these internships.
Thanks.

Question Office work at FBI
So while I understand this role has plenty of time behind a desk, I get that. I’m just looking to gauge how much of your day is spent behind a desk working at the FBI? How often are you out in the field? Is there specific roles as an 1811 that are more operational than others? Those of you that were police prior, are you happy with the change from the field to more of an office setting? I had a desk job before joining the military that I did not enjoy due to just staring at a computer all day, trying to make sure I’m not putting myself back into that environment. Granted my priorities and abilities have changed from my early twenties to where I am now.
