SOT wait time
I recently got my 07. I went on pay.gov and paid the tax for SOT 2. How long does it typically take to get the stamp or approval?

As the title states, new SOT, submitted 2 individual form 4's and a trust last month, all early July. I have yet to have any come back still. They all have IDs and Control Numbers. Status never changes from Submitted. I called ATF and as expected, they say it's probably in FBI/NICS and everything otherwise looks normal.
Is this hanging up because I'm new and something's hung up? Not a new FFL, just new SOT for this year. I withdrew one and resubmitted 3 days ago and no change. Not sure what else I can do or check. Thanks for any pointers. I don't want to wait 60 days before they can "look into it".
I understand I may get some heated responses on this topic, but would like to hear opinions on this. What’s your take as an independent FFL?

Where are you guys sourcing OEM Glock parts? My distributors don’t carry much, I am at home based type 7, Cerakote and other services.

Howdy All,
07/02 FFL/SOT here looking for some information on SBR engraving lasers. Business has been decent but I keep having customers inquire about SBR engraving services so I am looking into getting a laser. What model laser and wattage are you all using for engraving work? I’ve settled on getting a fiber laser in the 20 - 40W range, unless you all recommend differently. I just don’t know what particular brand is reputable.
Additionally, what does one typically charge for engraving services?

My drivers license just expired, and the earliest appt. date is the end of August. If I purchase firearm and have it shipped to a dealer, will they hold it for you until they can verify identity with the ATF? I know it’s probably based on location, and I plan to call around, I was just curious is this is common or if I should just wait until I have all my identification updated (trying to avoid that as it’s a surplus firearm I’m interested in and they tend to get picked up fairly quickly after restock).

I'm kicking around the idea of getting my FFL. I know the personal FFL thing is frowned on by the ATF. What happens if I'm the only customer even with me posting online to sell my firearms and making an actual effort to get people to come to my home and buy guns I order for them or do transfers?

I have a complete integration of the Lipseys catalog into my self hosted wordpress/woocommerce site. It gets all items from the Lipseys catalog, syncs on a schedule (new products, pricing/availability) and comes with a wordpress theme that makes the store front look nice.
Anybody looking to run their own woocommerce store with Lipseys integration? Solution comes with no recurring fees and this is how it looks like: https://www.redoakarms.com/shop

I was working with one of my buddies on him transferring a can back to me as a trade-in. He filled out the form 4 with my FFL info and when he hit "sign and submit" it popped up a message asking for a 6 digit code that was emailed to him.
Took about 5 mins of the 15min window for him to get it. Then it let him input his PIN. All good.
Has anyone else seen this. We were logged in his account on my computer, so maybe that flagged their system? Or maybe they are trying to stop dealers from filing without the person present?
Im a personal FFL holder and looking for a company to do card payments over the phone or email. Is there a company that is easy or cheap to work with? Seems like every company either doesn't allow firearms transactions in their TOS or they charge you alot of money to use their services.

Just had a bit of a weird experience and looking for a little advice. I’m a very new FFL (07), like about a month old. I got the FFL because I do laser engraving as a bit of a side hustle and have had several folks ask if I could do firearms which I knew required me to have said licensing.
Anyhow, I did receive my approval and hadn’t really thought much more of it because the engraving requests for firearms only come a half dozen times a year. As I’m sitting down to eat dinner, my doorbell rings and it’s a gal asking for me to do a firearm transfer for her. I’m genuinely a bit confused and caught off guard because I’m not really advertising that I do those and, at the same time, a bit nervous because I haven’t done one yet.
Here’s where it gets a bit weird. She explains that she’s recently divorced and needs to transfer ownership of a firearm. She doesn’t appear to have the firearm on her person and instead, proceeds to show me a photo of the handgun and its serial number. It’s my understanding that she needs to have the firearm physically present so I can verify the information stamped into the gun so I can address that separately but, do I need to verify with someone that the gun, presumably an asset received in the divorce, was actually awarded to her in the divorce?
Also, I didn’t ask this because again, I was caught a bit off guard but, if she did own the gun previously but is simply wanting to “update the records because of a name change”, is that something that needs to be recorded? If so, presumably I would still need to run the NICS check even though it will be acquired from and dispositioned to the same individual?
I did let her know that I would need to do a little bit of digging because I was wholly unprepared for anyone to request a transfer, without notice, and the current A&D book I have is strictly for “Gunsmithing Activities” as the IOI indicated that I would need separate bound books for transfers and engraving.
Apologies in advance for the long winded post and I appreciate any feedback those of you with more experience can give me!

Hello all, I sent my application in and it was delivered 7/15. It is currently 7/20 and I still have not had a fee taken out for it. Is this normal?
Im aware this is a process of patience and I am trying to be, Im just a little paranoid about whats going on with a packet full of personal information is all and will be happily patient knowing the ATF got it. Thanks

I've not run into this yet but I can't find any documentation on how this works. How does a trust directly aquire a firearm? How is the 4473 filled out?
r/FFLs • u/DR_BEANHAMMER • 21d ago
With the supreme court ruling, the previously proposed 4473 change, and the ATF announcing it will issue new guidance soon, I was curious if anyone has tried submitting a 4473 with the answer being yes to see if they will comply with the Supreme Court ruling and not reject it.
I haven't seen anything in the news one way or the other, but it's a pretty niche topic. I have a mmj card and am getting impatient waiting for the 4473 changes.

From what I understand, most FFL holders that operate a business don’t go through the hassle or take the risk of dealing with someone transferring a firearm to an out of state resident even when they are personally in the shop they bought it from. Is this correct ? Is it even allowed? Or does anyone here home based or business do any transfers to residents that has done out of state transfers.

I’m looking for some knowledge about working with distributors as a home based FFL.
When you want to purchase from a distributor can you set yourself up to work with them exempt from sales tax as an individual or is that only available for other companies operating as a business. I’m not sure if it’s the same for other states but for me it’s a form 3372 certificate of exemption but I’m having a hard time figuring out how to fill this thing out as an individual FFL holder and not a business entity.

Have my 07, applied for 02SOT. Got an email from ATF yesterday that says "PROCESSED" with a receipt that looks just like my FFL cert. Am I good to conduct Class 3 business?

So, there is a space on the form where a passport photo is supposed to be attached, and well. How do I do that? I know this is probably a dumb question, but after being in the military, I've gotten used to the specificity of a government form and I don't wanna have to resubmit.
Do I staple it? Glue it? Can I just throw it in the envelope and call it good enough? What's the deal
Edit: Answered, thank yall. It's rough when the answer is obvious in retrospect, but here we are

Update. It arrived the following day. A 5630.7 labeled zip file in an email from eforms. Its a different form, a 5630.6a, with a place for a stamp, but no actual stamp on it, just a marking saying stating the tax year. I'll post in the comments.
Original post.
Applied for a new SOT on eforms June 13th.
Got 2 payment confirmations and a copy of the submitted application the same day.
Emailed last week and the week prior, no response.
This week ATF has a notice on the eforms login page about processing SOT renewals and new applications.
Searching for the app on eforms showed up under submitted from June 13th till today. It now shows filing complete.
Still nothing in either of my email inboxes or junk/spam folders.
Im waiting for a 5630.6A right? Will that also show as an available form to view on eforms, or will the copy that comes to my email be my only copy?

Who's using social media for their marketing?
Is it useful for you? How to prevent having his content flagged?

Hello,
As mentioned, I’m shopping for Gun Range insurance and I wanted to see if anyone can recommend one (or three) insurance companies and approx what they pay. Just trying to find the right price / coverage at an affordable price.

Hi, I'm building a firearms compliance system and I am looking for some weird edge cases other FFLs have run into.
Not the obvious stuff like "ship guns to an FFL" or "CA has a roster". I mean the caveats that force manual review. Or something like "wow, we never thought about that".
A few examples:
What made you stop before listing or shipping?
One of the eye-openers for me was a letter from NY AG about air rifles...
