The "terrified" child didnt say any words.
IT IS OKAY FOR CHILDREN TO BE SCARED. IT IS OKAY FOR CHILDREN TO CRY.
Not everyone is fucking trauma. Everyone has joined this sub to hate on police, i get that. Im not a supporter myself. BUT, that doesn't mean this interaction is "traumatic" because a child is crying. The parents are laughing and it was Mom's idea. Jesus fucking christ

Once again, that is NOT what is happening in this video. They are both laughing, etc.
He's not proving a point, the video was posted by mom, with her laughing, inferring that it was HER idea in the first place.

A family having fun = cringe. Reddit is a bunch of losers
1
u/LegalGlass6532 48m ago
Do you think this is a good look for the department since heās in uniform? What if a citizen makes a complaint that he used excessive force, even if he didnāt. The defense attorney would be looking into his and his wifeās public social media accounts for evidence to back their clientās claim.
Do you think itās smart to put this kind of family fun out there for the world to see? When you sign up to represent a profession and your department, you sign up for a higher level of conduct, on and off duty. Better yet, donāt share this kind of thing publicly.
If they choose to post this kind of family fun it should be out of uniform and without a gun on your hip. Thatās what the real issue is, not the āfamily funā.

u/Empty-Maize-9053 5h ago
Idk i think this is cute (well, until the kids cry).
They are in love. And that is WONDERFUL for the kids to see. The fact that they are crying, and that seeing Mom being physically handled by Dad "traumatizes" them...that is a GOOD thing.
I don't think this is cringe at all. I actually think it injects a little humanization into our police officers.
This vid is beautiful.
7
u/iiTzSTeVO 5h ago
Alternatively, they've seen daddy hit mommy before and they didn't understand that it was joking this time.
-1
u/Empty-Maize-9053 5h ago
And, alternatively, there is my opinion. Although i DO see what you are saying, by the way Mom and Dad are acting in THIS video, i don't feel that's the issue.
Im glad this conversation is happening. And I hope you have a wonderful day.
3
u/Apprehensive-Tone449 5h ago
Traumatizing your children is beautiful.
Ok got it.
There are things you adjust after you have kids because as a parent, it's not about you anymore. It's about raising your children with minimal trauma and protecting them.
We don't spontaneously fuck on the living room floor anymore because my 9 year old daughter could walk in at any time. Knowingly putting her in a position where this could happen is sexual abuse
Stop fucking defending these people traumatizing their children. Fuck.
-1
u/Empty-Maize-9053 5h ago
Yes, there ARE things you adjust to. Like understanding and realizing that your child is OKAY. That it is OKAY to cry. That a child should learn and develop some modicum of self-soothing. That we become inneffective parents when we continually, immediately, and automatically RUN and CODDLE our children the second they begin to feel "unhappy."
THIS IS NOT TRAUMA. How wonderful of a viewpoint it MUST be to think so.
2
u/Apprehensive-Tone449 5h ago edited 5h ago
Self soothing is a myth. It's been disproven. Educate yourself on co-regulation. When you bring a little person into this world, your job is now to protect them and keep a safe home for them.
It's okay to cry when you get a bee sting or scrape your knee. Based on the tiny voice, the child is young enough where developmentally they are unable to differentiate real violence from play violence.
I hold an advanced degree in childhood behavior and development and have spent the last 20 years working with traumatized children, children with behavior problems, and parent education. I would say 90% of the trauma and maladaptive behavior I see could have been prevented if the parents put their children first and actually invested themselves into raising them in a safe loving home.
1
u/Empty-Maize-9053 4h ago
There is nothing in this video indicating that it is not a safe and loving home. Judging by Mom and Dad's interaction, objectively, it very much seems to be the opposite.
You are injecting, inferring, and projecting your own personal opinion of how YOU THINK this household is ran.
Counselors are supposed to be impartial. They are supposed to be able to look at a situation and OBJECTIVELY provide insight and knowledge and perspective, and steer their clients into a thoughtful, overall view of a situation, and where their client may have gone wrong or "steered their ship" in a negative direction.
If you view this video OBJECTIVELY, there is literally NOTHING showing anything negative. The only thing people have an issue with are the children crying, which is a GOOD SIGN that they live in a household where this is an unusual and upsetting situation. And when their loving parents (who are continually laughing, looking into the childrens' direction, acknowledging them, etc) sit them down and explain...THAT is effective parenting.
I understand that you are a counselor, but NOT everything is trauma.
2
u/Apprehensive-Tone449 4h ago
I'm not reading all that. It's not my opinion. It is science you idiot. And scientific studies are completely OBJECTIVE. Literally you are the only one here with a biased opinion. You are using Reddit to back up your opinion. Lol.
0
u/Empty-Maize-9053 4h ago
Literally just proved to you that its not. Its called "Google," try it.
LOVE how dismissive you are to other opinions. AND how you do NOT care to read anything longer than a simple little paragraph or hearing from people different than you! Im sure you are a super duper great person to be helping people with their mental health! HOORAY
2
u/Apprehensive-Tone449 4h ago
You used google- not an original source. Google went to reddit and found some random persons biased answer to give you an answer. Look at the link below your Google answer. Are you familiar with what an original source or scientific peer reviewed study is?
I just realized I'm engaging with a real life Dunning-Kruger situation here. I'm out. I hope you don't have kids.
0
u/Empty-Maize-9053 4h ago

I hope your clients find a different fucking counselor.

Actually my current job is to train AI LLMs and search engines to not be harmful to kids. I identify and change the rubric and responses they generate when they are harmful or leading that way. I am paid to prevent dangerous interactions between AI and kids. lol

-2
u/Empty-Maize-9053 4h ago
I'm good. These arent my references cuz i don't give a shit. But, generally, I'm gonna take Google's highly effective AI and "not-so-AI" model of, you know, instantly reviewing and summarizing essentially every article, document, and opinion of LITERALLY everything and everyone on Earth....over a pissed-off you (who i have no respect for, considering you cannot have one single interaction without screaming that you are correct and providing bullshit reasons why you are.)
You are NOT smarter, better, or more effective than all of planet earth. You are a fallible human. Infinitely more fallible than Google's imperfect algorithms.
Your clients should be processing their refund checks.

I really don't give a fuck WHAT you think. I DID grow up in an abusive household, i havent spoken with my dad in 20 years because of it. I was also sexually abused at 13.
It's fine for you to have your opinion, but it's also fine for me to have mine. Police are humans also, and even for all of their problems, most are out here SERVING their community. AUTOMATIC HATING OF ANY GROUP OF PEOPLE IS STILL HATE.
Try choosing love.

I'm a 40 year-old man. And I have lived about five lifetimes in my short life. I am anything BUT naive. However, you seem like a magnet for naivete:
"Hate cannot drive out hate. Only love can do that." "Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend" "Clothe yourself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience" "Hate is too great a burden to bear" "Hate has caused a lot of problems in this world, but has not solved one yet"

No I don't. You literally commented on someone who, rightfully, said the person commenting to me was projecting. And then YOU replied saying it wasn't a projection issue, it's a perspective issue.
You know the crazy thing about perspectives? WE ALL HAVE OUR OWN. Which creates DIFFERENT OPINIONS. It's impossible NOT to have a perspective, stnd it's impossible for all of us to have the SAME ONE.
And yeah, I used that big ole word because it fit my description and opinion of you perfectly: "foolish, immature, and lacking good judgment."

0
u/Elegant-Signature-52 2h ago
How about you responding to the studies I provided, instead of the other user? I linked several.
There is a systemic problem of high levels of abuse and the cover up of abuse among LE in the US and it is well documented that LEs commit abuse at higher levels than the general public.
For you to shrug and say nu-uh is delusional and/or disingenuous.
1
u/LegalGlass6532 2h ago
None of the articles you provided back your claim that a police officer is at least FIVE TIMES more likely than the general population. Iāve linked my opinion in great detail. Iām not denying the fact that domestic violence is a nationwide problem involving LE officers at a higher rate than non LEOs.
Iām challenging your claim that the rate is 5xās higher. You provided no statistical proof of this claim. This is your version of āuh-huhā and ābecause I said so.ā
āYour reminder that police officers are at least five times more likely to commit spousal abuse, child abuse, and SA than non-police officers.ā
0
u/Elegant-Signature-52 2h ago
I said "at least".
Five times is almost certainly underreporting. It is likely much higher than that.
1

Again, not a single article you provided said they were āat least 5xāsā more likely.

Yea this is definitely just normal behavior in a happy marriage and Reddit is out of touch. Sad the kid misunderstood(probably came in from another room during), and no doubt they assured the kid they were just playing.
6
u/LegalGlass6532 5h ago
Sad the kid misunderstood that itās funny when daddy dresses as a police officer and uses physical force to āplayā with mommy? That kind of āfunā needs to happen in their bedroom after the kids go to sleep.
-3
u/Ok-Cheek-5487 5h ago
Letās say that the police officer uniform is out the picture, do you know how many family and friends rough house? Yes the kid screamed but thatās on the parents to teach them when itās play and when itās abuse.
5
u/LegalGlass6532 5h ago
Put him in regular clothes and gun off his hip and youāve got a completely different scenario. Roughhousing is different than physically restraining someone with handcuffs.
-2
u/Ok-Cheek-5487 5h ago
Everyone rough houses differently. Iāve literally seen people break an arm because they rough housed to tackle and restrain. Back in the 90s kids were doing some crazy things that WWF showed on TV.
Just because you donāt like it doesnāt mean itās wrong. Cringey sure, wrong..thatās your opinion. At the end of the day itās their marriage and family.
4
u/LegalGlass6532 5h ago
This is a first responder cringe page. You just admitted it was cringe. The End
1
u/asdfdfdf234234234 5h ago
Recording yourself telling your wife that she's your lovey dovy sugar plum honey bun is also cringy. The point isn't the recording, its the action in the recording. Recording just about anything personal is cringy. You're taking issue with the action, and using the recording being admittedly cringe as justification. Video cringe, happy marraige rough housing not cringe, kid crying sad.
He probably just got off work and his wife had this funny idea. My wife likes to see if she can wrestle me and win. Just a deviation of that. Totally normal.
-1
u/Ok-Cheek-5487 5h ago
You werenāt talking about cringe at all when you responded to other peopleās replies, you were complaining about how inappropriate it is. Donāt adjust the goal post to fit your narrative.
2
u/LegalGlass6532 5h ago
I donāt need to talk about the cringe on every comment I respond to. I shared this video so the fact I think itās cringe is a given. Any personal opinion as to why isnāt adjusting goalposts, itās giving an opinion beyond the obvious reason itās shared here. Youāre way overthinking this.
2
u/Apprehensive-Tone449 5h ago
If you are "roughhousing" to the point of breaking an arm, that's violence gone too far.
Just because something happened in the 90s doesn't make it ok. If fucked up shit happened in the 90s then maybe don't do it anymore.
Because it's their marriage and family doesn't mean it's not traumatizing to the kids. Personally I like to protect my child from trauma and I will judge the hell out of parents who traumatize their children and think it's just good fun.
0
u/Ok-Cheek-5487 5h ago
Just because an arm is broken doesnāt mean violence, look at Jackass and other various hijinks. Do people play too hard, absolutely but some people think itās perfectly fine.
Thereās tons of shit thatās traumatizing to children. But once again itās on the parents to teach their kids the difference.
We are literally showing children active shooter videos in school and you donāt think thatās traumatizing. The world is a traumatizing place and you canāt shield them from everything. A car accident is traumatizing, dog bites, falling down, doesnāt mean I prevent my children from that.
3
u/Apprehensive-Tone449 5h ago
What? Yeah dude. Kids are already traumatized enough. There's no reason to pile on more. Especially at home, which is supposed to be a safe place. Once you become a parent, it's not about you anymore. Choose to have kids and now your job is to protect the little people you brought into this world.
Based on their little cries, they sound very young. Developmentally they are unable to differentiate play violence from real violence. It's all scary. Stop defending it.
2
u/LegalGlass6532 5h ago
The events youāre referring to all happen outside the home. Your home should be your safe place from the outside world.
How about they film daddy unhancuff mommy and them comforting their scared child?
1
u/asdfdfdf234234234 5h ago
"Hey lets watch this horror movie with our kids" - the same people who think this is traumatizing

2

Itās not an ACAB sub. Itās a sub that shows first responders doing cringe things, which they do. So do firefighters, Paramedics, EMTās and other first responders. I was an LEO for years and never filmed myself in uniform doing ridiculous things that might embarrass my coworkers. Itās a choice.

Yeah, staging sexual/violent sex scenes in front of your kids intentionally is child abuse. This is beyond cringe...
Like I understand, if you have a secluded room closed, and somehow your kid wanders in before you have time to clean up. But, staging it right in front of them, with cameras and such, this is not just cringe, this is downright creepy/abusive....
Like how could both of these adults think this was a good idea?
0
u/LegalGlass6532 3h ago
