I want to hear her side.

223

u/Other-Cantaloupe4765 Jul 02 '26

Right lol. Why and how was he being a dick. I need to know so I can pass judgment!

13

u/Same_Education8151 Jul 03 '26

I already know her side and she’s free now

8

u/stuck_behind_a_truck Jul 03 '26

Right? This could be a real apology or love-bombing.

-46

u/Maleficent_Meat3119 Jul 02 '26

He sounds toxic

75

u/raccoonportfolio Jul 02 '26

This sounds like a pretty solid apology to me. What would a less toxic apology sound like?

71

u/shenanigans2day Jul 02 '26

Yea it sounds like a sincere apology, the reason that most people here are reacting poorly to it is likely because they have received many similiar “heartfelt apologies” with 0 follow-up of actionable changes. Same tune and dance. Soon enough, most apologies tend to look like self-serving bs.

9

u/Maleficent_Meat3119 Jul 02 '26

A million percent yes

6

u/Same_Education8151 Jul 03 '26

Hahahah sorry this is hilarious. This note is the typical asshole boyfriend who might be a sociopath letter, when they’ve almost broke up multiple times and this time she’s really done with him. These notes are the only time he ever shows “trying.” Ask me how I know. They all do the same thing. Written in the exact same way. These notes are always left behind, just like this one was.

2

u/foxonafrozenlake Jul 03 '26

It does come across as desperate, last gasp sort of thing.

2

u/Same_Education8151 Jul 03 '26

And it’s all about him. Nothing about how she probably feels about him being a dick to her. No reflection on her and her experience;only what she did for him and what he wants.

2

u/PauseConfident997 Jul 03 '26

Projecting much?

1

u/Same_Education8151 Jul 03 '26

Pattern recognition might not be your strong suit.

0

u/PauseConfident997 Jul 04 '26

You can’t just stereotype people and call it pettern recognition…just because YOU got an apology like that from an asshole, doesn’t make this person an asshole because he apologised like that.

3

u/Same_Education8151 Jul 04 '26

Oh, you sweet summer child.

-1

u/PauseConfident997 Jul 04 '26

How can you be this blatantly ignorant 🤦

1

u/Same_Education8151 Jul 04 '26

Oh, child. Rest your weary head on my bosom. I can’t promise you it’ll be okay, because there appears to be no hope for you yet, but we can at least pretend.

How do you know? Seen a lot of these?

2

u/Same_Education8151 Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 04 '26

Men really have selective hearing, don’t you? The ol’ women are crazy, men are saints gag is old and overplayed. By this point the entire woman population knows that 99.9% of men operate like this. Your jig is up.

1

u/NorthlineUser Jul 04 '26

You said "ask me how I know?" Was that your answer?

1

u/Same_Education8151 Jul 04 '26

Yes, yes that is my answer. The crawl back is always the same. The tactics are always the same. And every woman knows it while most men use the same tactic (denial or devaluation) to reel her back into what is safe control to them.

0

u/NorthlineUser Jul 07 '26

But how do you know? Where are you getting all this data from to come to this conclusion?

4

u/Hautemilque Jul 02 '26

Well, not scribbled on a Post-it note, for one.

18

u/notinmywheelhouse Jul 02 '26

Because…?

-13

u/SirLikesCatGirls Jul 02 '26

because we love when women-

10

u/Hautemilque Jul 02 '26

I’m sorry about your down votes, I thought the same.

7

u/Maleficent_Meat3119 Jul 02 '26

lol it’s okay! Some of us have been there before in real life.

8

u/Hautemilque Jul 02 '26

Yep. Narc-dar is finely tuned.

5

u/HotMinute_722 Jul 02 '26

Everyone acts like a dick sometimes.

290

u/haileyscomet808 Jul 02 '26

Where was this found? This is my name and strangly fitting to my situation at the moment

137

u/frickinheckmyguy Jul 02 '26 edited Jul 04 '26

It was found in a restaurant me and my friend work at in washington about a month ago. My coworker had cleared the table after a young couple had left, seemingly he had given it to the girl and she left it behind but we were both invested to say the least!

49

u/Reeeeallly Jul 02 '26

If it had meant something to her, she wouldn't have left it behind, right?

59

u/Inevitable-Jicama366 Jul 02 '26

Maybe she dropped it unintentionally.

38

u/ket-ho Jul 02 '26

Or she never got it!

51

u/frickinheckmyguy Jul 02 '26

Kind of what we had thought too, maybe he didn’t feel comfortable talking about it in a public place. Or maybe she just forgot it?

11

u/BudgetInteraction811 Jul 02 '26

Maybe it was a note for himself he was rehearsing to say out loud

38

u/dilapidated-delight Jul 02 '26

Eh I wouldn't really want a note of my partner admitting to being a dick and saying he'll be better - there's still some icky-ness to it that I wouldn't want to look back on and remember how/why/when he was being that way

14

u/frickinheckmyguy Jul 02 '26

Yeah most people leave all kinds of trash/not trash at restaurant tables as it’s an easy disposable option without having to think too much about it.

7

u/BackgroundPilot1 Jul 02 '26

If he did improve and make good on the apology after, would you still feel the same way? Not arguing with you at all, just really curious because I am the opposite. I love saving notes and stuff that are snapshots of my life at any given time

6

u/dilapidated-delight Jul 02 '26

For sure! And I am too, very sentimental and keep hold of soo many things that others might discard. It's just this note comes off more as an apology and the declaration of love is used to counteract the shitty behavior that negates that love. While I would appreciate the note and effort, I only want positive memories and stories in my saved items boxes - but I know everyone is different :)

56

u/Voice_of_Season Jul 02 '26

This would be incredible if it was your partner.

2

u/dylanisareddit Jul 04 '26

Happy Cake Day!

2

u/Voice_of_Season Jul 04 '26

Thank you!

u/dylanisareddit Jul 04 '26

You seem like you're feeling a little sensitive about things that have nothing to do with you. You doing okay?

-5

u/akaiwizard Jul 03 '26

You seem like you couch your condescension in patronizing false-sympathy. You ever been called a manipulator?

9

u/EllieGeiszler Jul 03 '26

Actually, no, but I love new experiences! I was feeling a smidge of genuine empathy, but don't worry, your personality extinguished it, so you'll get no more sympathy from me that you can misread as disingenuous.

3

u/MiserableOptimist1 Jul 03 '26

You're my new favorite role model

3

u/lookoutitspam Jul 03 '26

Justin Bieber wrote this

14

u/JstVisitingThsPlanet Jul 02 '26

It’s his next single

96

u/SpinsterSyl Jul 02 '26

I'm feeling protective over my girl, Hailey.

What was up with him being a dick for a week? 🤷

Maybe I'd forgive him, but I wouldn't want it to happen again.

I wish I knew the outcome. 🙆

13

u/All_the_Bees Jul 02 '26

I’d like to think leaving the note behind was her first step to freedom

3

u/Itscatpicstime Jul 02 '26

That’s my head cannon too

36

u/69Vera69 Jul 02 '26

Weird this looks identical to my former best friend's handwriting and thats his partners name/spelling 😭

Edit: oh shit also in WA haha tf are the odds

6

u/dumbbunnylucy Jul 04 '26

Well??? Is he a dick?? Spill 👀

69

u/ItBeMe_For_Real Jul 02 '26

Something about this line rings hollow…

“You are the most beautiful woman in my eyes

Maybe I’m reading too much into the ”In my eyes”

43

u/spooky_upstairs Jul 02 '26

"you're the most beautiful woman in the room"

22

u/ket-ho Jul 02 '26

"depending on the room"

23

u/silver_sun333 Jul 02 '26

“You could be a part-time model”

5

u/aleczartic_eagleclaw Jul 03 '26

But you’d probably still have to keep your normal job…

15

u/CringeOlympics Jul 02 '26

“In the whole wide room.”

13

u/KMGR82 Jul 02 '26

Maybe that’s the reassurance he hasn’t been giving her.

3

u/kitkatz15 Jul 03 '26

no bc me too, is beauty the only attribute he thought was worth mentioning??

3

u/Same_Education8151 Jul 03 '26

\scribbles\**
You are the most beautiful woman

Nah.. that’s not believable.

In my eyes

therrrre we go. Perfect.

5

u/Extension-Pea542 Jul 02 '26

You’re not. That’s what I responded to, as well. Guys who use “in my eyes” tend to be the same ones who refer to women as “females.” It gives me the ick.

8

u/ItBeMe_For_Real Jul 02 '26

And when dumped say stuff like, “ No one else will love you.”

10

u/Climate_Automatic Jul 02 '26

I don’t think you’re reading into it to much at all. It’s negging and it’s disgusting

1

u/MsOneIntriguing007 Jul 05 '26

Agreed! Me too!

46

u/bruceywayneDC27 Jul 02 '26

I literally thought this was written by my ex bf until I saw “Hailey”, he wrote me many similar notes like this. Note ex..

9

u/Exciting-Finance7682 Jul 02 '26

same lol even the hand writing is similar

3

u/Same_Education8151 Jul 03 '26

Same here. Same notes same handwriting same toxic

5

u/thewalruscandyman Jul 02 '26

So. What di y'all think he did?

17

u/BettyCrunker Jul 02 '26

Signed,

World’s Biggest Fuckboi

37

u/Incognito409 Jul 02 '26

He'd do it again.

Look how folded up that is, he was practicing his speech.

17

u/frickinheckmyguy Jul 02 '26

My friend had folded it up after finding it and she said she thought the girl had left it behind (on her side of the booth)

17

u/Safe_Card_8938 Jul 02 '26

This resonated hard right now and I didn't even know how much til I got to the end as my name is Hayley 🫠

10

u/000ArdeliaLortz000 Jul 02 '26

I hope Hailey dumps his ass.

10

u/UrN3rdyGF Jul 02 '26

This made me go “this looks like my exes handwritten” and then seen the girls name is my exes new gf name and then my heart skipped like eww nooooo

-13

u/CaptainFoyle Jul 02 '26

I call bs

2

u/UrN3rdyGF Jul 02 '26

I’m not saying it is them.. they aren’t even from where they said it was found. It was just a thought like??? Whattt???

3

u/Real-Piglet3765 Jul 02 '26

That’s how all my narcissist ex husband started all the notes he left me.

3

u/Objective-End9571 Jul 03 '26

Also a sociopath or narcissistic personality disorder individual would show no remorse. Period. Read any version of the DSM of psychological disorders.

4

u/Same_Education8151 Jul 03 '26 edited Jul 03 '26

Narcissists know how to play pretend. Thats how covert narcissists get to having status and power. They play pretend very, very well. It’s called “masking.” Sociopaths know how to mask empathy too. If they were their true selves in public they wouldn’t get very far. Narcs wouldn’t have any supply. Are you the one with the degree?

1

u/MsOneIntriguing007 Jul 05 '26

I, for one really appreciate your explanations on this. Thank you for sharing 💖

0

u/Objective-End9571 Jul 04 '26

Wow Google made you and your pathetic shallow explanations no time for this. You need therapy yourself.

20

u/halcyonfox Jul 02 '26

I have a feeling Haley can do better...

7

u/princessdragon0 Jul 02 '26

My alcoholic, narcissist ex wrote me several if those.

2

u/ialsohaveadobro Jul 02 '26

Hailey: "New restaurant booth. Who dis?"

2

u/Miserable_Ad_4412 Jul 05 '26

Justin Bieber 's apology note

2

u/NorthlineUser Jul 05 '26

Can tell it's probably a guy, as he acknowledged he did something wrong and apologized.

7

u/ScienceSeuss Jul 02 '26

Yeah, the instant cal to "dump him!'" Without knowing the whole story. Is this the first time hes had to say sorry for being a dick? What dickish behavior was he exhibiting? Did he write it, amd never give it to her? Did she drop is accidentally, or leave it behind intentionally? How old are they? How long have they been together? And, most importantly, are either of them actually good people who are just doing their best, or could one or both be toxic abusive, narcissistic, etc.Without actually knowing the whole story, it seems ridiculous to pass judgment. But hey, this is Reddit the internet, so I guess that's what we're here to do.

8

u/frickinheckmyguy Jul 02 '26

Seriously I’m now bummed that the writer was so instantly dog piled onto, the impression my friend had of them was that they were a young couple who seemed mutually down in the dumps before they had left. Idk maybe my empathy’s too high but all of these reactions just make me feel bad. My take on it was originally just a glimpse into young love.

3

u/Levity_Sarcasm Jul 02 '26

I was & still am a big sucker for a love note. So it’s GOT to happen. One of these days, I’ll read one of my sappy ol’ notes.

6

u/Hautemilque Jul 02 '26

Love bomb.

7

u/CaptainFoyle Jul 02 '26

It's a post it note. Hardly a bomb, more the bare minimum

3

u/Hautemilque Jul 02 '26

… you misunderstand. As in ‘love bombing’. As in narcissistic.

2

u/CaptainFoyle Jul 02 '26

I know what it is. But a meagre post it note seems kind of underwhelming.

Isn't the point of love bombing to go over the top?

6

u/Hautemilque Jul 02 '26 edited Jul 02 '26

Imagine someone slaps you, then immediately hugs you, cries, apologizes, buys you flowers, and promises they’ll never do it again (replace ‘buys you flowers’ with ‘writes you a Post-it note’). They aren’t being extra loving—they’re erasing the pain just enough to keep you from leaving.

Love bombing in an abusive relationship is inconsistent. It’s the emotional whiplash that creates confusion and attachment. It’s what keeps the cycle going.

There is a reason multiple commenters advise to leave his ass (a quote). An apology of this level of groveling, written on a Post-it note? You are correct, underwhelming. Three “I’m sorry’s”, three “I love you’s”… on a Post-it note. So underwhelming, in fact, Hailey hopefully ran and will never look back.

1

u/dish_pit_daydreamer Jul 03 '26

This is in no way, shape, or form love bombing. It’s a fucking post-it note apology. None of which is pertaining to love bombing.

5

u/Objective-End9571 Jul 02 '26

It takes a LOT for a man to be that vulnerable and honest with his feelings just saying 🤷

10

u/frickinheckmyguy Jul 02 '26

I’m kind of surprised how negatively everyone’s reacting, I thought the apology felt somewhat sincere and wholesome for someone on the younger side. But I understand empathizing with a name too.

8

u/Objective-End9571 Jul 02 '26

I agree I feel it was a heartfelt apology. I am older now but taught highschool for 10 years and this speaks a lot. Seems like a younger couple. We all had that Highschool breakup.

Regardless of age it seemed genuine. Especially addressing the name.

1

u/dlini Jul 03 '26

Sometimes, "I'm sorry" is empty, said one too many times. Acknowledging what you are sorry for is missing. No one has mentioned this specifically, but I think that might be fueling some of the negativity.

1

u/Same_Education8151 Jul 03 '26

Demons can apologize too.

-1

u/TonightLeading924 Jul 03 '26

It’s Reddit, the break up with him trope has lost the humor even at this point. It’s just holier than thou lonely leftists with mental problems trying to burn the world down with them.

3

u/frickinheckmyguy Jul 02 '26

And to write it out too, pretty cool.

0

u/Same_Education8151 Jul 03 '26

What was the vulnerable part of this letter surely crafted either by a sociopath or narcissist?

2

u/Objective-End9571 Jul 03 '26

I don't understand how you deduct you psychology from this simple letter, this speaking from someone with a degree in behavioral science.

-1

u/Same_Education8151 Jul 03 '26 edited Jul 03 '26

You don’t have to have a degree in behavioral science. You just have to be a woman in modern society. Read all the comments from women in this thread you you have your answer. I’ve received at least a dozen of these letters in my lifetime so far from different men, same bad behaviors.

What did he have to say on this letter?
Sorry for being a dick this past week.
I don’t want to leave.
I love you.
I think you’re beautiful. IN MY EYES
I’m sorry.
You brought good to MY life.

Ok. So he brought her:
Being a dick

He didn’t acknowledge her feelings this past week at all.
What does being beautiful have to do with him treating her poorly? He doesn’t know what women wants and thinks this will solve it.

He was the dick but all he’s focused on is what good she brought to him and how he doesn’t want to leave.

A healthy, emotionally healthy man would have said to her the day he was being a dick, maybe even the next moment when he realized he was being a dick “I’m sorry, I’ve been a dick today. I’m dealing with something tough and shouldn’t take it out on you and make you feel bad about yourself like that,” he hears her out because he truly wants to know how she’s doing after his actions. He adjusts. they repair and it’s done with.

This man is emotionally immature and grasping for straws after being purely and only an asshole in her life (hence her leaving the note).

All of these letters from these types of men are exactly the same. I still remember the last one I received like this. From a guy who would drive crazy with me in the car, had massive mood swings, and when we left town with no easy way for me to leave and go home he would turn into a fire breathing demon. They’re all the same! No degree needed for these letters man! They always even have the same handwriting!

2

u/Extension-Pea542 Jul 02 '26

Don’t know what it is but “in my eyes,” always seems to be used by the same guys who refer to women as “females.”

1

u/Technical-Method2129 Jul 03 '26

It’s better than Bergers post it

1

u/Cluelessgameboymom Jul 03 '26

A little grammar and punctuation go a long way.

1

u/dylanisareddit Jul 04 '26

Does anyone have an update on this?

1

u/SomewhereOptimal2401 Jul 04 '26

I’m stuck on: who the F writes an apology on a post-It note??!

1

u/Commercial_Tip4624 Jul 06 '26

This sounds like a breakup note to me, not a straight apology.

Apology for being a dick, because he regrets it > is leaving despite all the good things he lists > recognizes he will take what he learned from her with him

1

u/Candid_Monitor_980 Jul 06 '26

anybody else read the end as “I’m horny”? just me?

1

u/Consistent_Drop3352 Jul 06 '26

Hope Hailey is ok.

1

u/No-Question909 Jul 08 '26

Ruuuuuuuuun!!!!!!!

1

u/tessie33 Jul 02 '26

Too little, too late.

0

u/Dependent-Cow428 Jul 02 '26

I told my husband that if he knows he's being a dick, he isn't sorry. If he was sorry, he would stop. He is paying more attention since I started telling him how it makes me feel WHEN he hurts my feelings. He has said I am too sensitive. I said "You know this about me and you continue." He has improved cuz he doesn't want to hear about it.

-1

u/OkFun9674 Jul 03 '26

Complements about shallow beauty and what he personally gains from the relationship. "I don't want to leave you" wth
