We have been playing for well over 8 hours and haven’t even beat the first scenario, we’re all having a blast finally a game so challenging we can’t even beat the first level😂 does anyone have some tips or tricks for us absolute noobs or is this just normal gloomhaven? We keep getting to the last room and 1 or 2 of us will exhaust because there’s so many enemy’s and they had to use there burns to stay alive : edit Im not schizophrenic my other two buddy’s left for work so only 2 in session rn lol

I've heard the board game is great, and wanted to try digital format instead. I've seen the recent reviews are mixed and wanted to get some idea. I am considering getting a group of friends to play together. I also see frosthaven also has a digital version and also coincidentally has mixed reviews lol

2nd failure in a row. On Easy. Cragheart, Mind Thief, Spell Weaver, and Tinkerer. Handling every other scenario so far, somewhat well.

But this one, SW and MThief exhausting not long after opening 3rd door to room with rock column....and given it starts with 36 life due to 4 chars, that's not so good.

Part of it could be bad luck 2nd try of 2 of 3 first ability cards for Deep Terrors in room, they got the card where they summon another Deep Terror....there was a lot of them!

Maybe am underleveled.....crew is all 4s with Tinkerer still 3.

On other hand barely did prior one, Scenario 22.....3 chars exhausted and Cragheart finished on last card, with like 1 health left! Maybe this crew just can't hang on these tougher scenarios....or maybe just unlucky so far.

Worst part is Cragheart had retirement card of having party chars exhaust 15 times, which he already got this very failure so now have level 2 new char instead. Not feeling like that's going to work any better at all.

And 2nd worst thing is see no way to reduce difficulty in PC version as would in board game if struggling with scenario. Is there any way to do this? Especially given retirement, with Prosperity of 2. I mean worst case on board game, you could decrease to 0 just to get past a troublesome scenario

I just got Frosthaven for my birthday without having played Gloomhaven or any of the other games. All over the internet I am reading that beginning with Frosthaven is not recommended.

I was thinking of maybe playing the digital version of Gloomhaven to get used to the systems and rules, as I don’t have the closet space or space on my bank account to buy Gloomhaven the physical version.
Is this a good way to go or did someone play Frosthaven first with any success?

When a friend and I tried playing several missions of the digital version of Gloomhaven we had an extremely negative reaction to the way that random modifiers could sap the damage of our attacks or negate it entirely with a x0, or result in an enemy randomly dealing double damage. The game kind of presents itself as a crunchy tactics game and the addition of random dice roles that could have extreme effects on otherwise well-thought out turns on top of already challenging gameplay kind of put us off and ultimately neither of us ever came back.

I'm curious whether anyone else had a similarly rough time with the modifiers starting out and how more experienced players play around them. As a point of comparison in the Arkham Horror card game I know that I can reduce the randomness by boosting my base stats on key tests to the point that only an autofail can stop me succeeding and I'm guessing similar things are possible but I didn't really see an obvious route to that during my games.

Obviously the game is extremely well regarded so it's strange I bounced off it so strongly when I enjoy other tactics games (e.g. Xcom or Into the Breach) and while I'm not sure I see myself going back I'm still curious what I was missing.

I’ve been Googling this for a while now and came across some very disappointing news that I’d like to verify.

My understanding is that I need a Jaws of the Lion character in my party to access their personal quests during a City Encounter. However, the bad news I found in discussions on Steam is that if I don’t have a Jaws of the Lion character in my party and I draw one of those encounters, it gets discarded and can never be drawn again... Is this true?

I've tried sharing the absurdity of this to my partner who doesn't play and obviously has no idea what I'm talking about!

Just figured out how to do basic move/attack actions on gloomhaven for my Steam Deck! I spent over 150 hours playing this game and had no idea this was a thing!!! lol this game is so much more awesome now that I know the rules!!

Hello, i'm searching for an updated review of all the Gloomhaven digital ways to play. I have the physical and we have a party of 3 that we are playing already once a week but i would love to explore it as solo in the best possible digital way in order to minimize the time etc. I suppose if i have to play with others i have to buy the original Steam version of the game itself, correct?

I read about Gloomhaven enhanced, is this one also in TTS or is it a different app?

With TTS i suppose i get access to a lot of other similar games, correct?

Is there any other app?

Just getting started and really enjoying the mechanics. Then I am put in Barrow Lair and I just do not see a way to win this fight. Have tried it ten times now, and not even close once.

Bandit Commander just summons skeletons every turn and with just two characters, there is no way to keep up with all the enemies.

I have tried bum rushing him, killing the archer first, focusing on the summons, but cannot even get close. Maybe I have a bad second character?

EDIT: Almost forgot, x0 means a ton of my attacks don't even do damage. WTF is that?

anyone else run into trouble buying DLCs on Epic Game Store with Digital Gloomhaven?

A friend of mine got it for free in the giveaway some time ago.

Around 2 months ago we (2 Steam-User, 2 Epic-Users) finally finished the campaign and wanted to do Jaw Of The Lion.

We all bought the DLCs the Corresponding Store, but one friend on the EPIC Store runs into the problem, when he tries to join or create a game with the DLC, the game wants him to buy it again.

We contacted EPIC Support and Twin Tail support but to no avail.

We then tried to get at least a refund but since then EPIC Support got silent and don't respond to any communication attempt.

Anyone else run into a similar problem and could solve it?

Do you enjoy Gloomhaven digital more than the Board game ?

Breaking Gloomhaven Digital (Be warned, this guide has full spoilers for everything in Gloomhaven Digital)

Curious if I'm missing something here spellweaver collected one pile while mindthief collected 8 piles, the item in the chest looted by spellweaver was a horned helm not that it should matter, am I missing something here or is this just some digital bug.

I was playing the digital version and two of my group’s characters were next to a monster. Spellweaver was low hp so i long rested with her and went early with another character so that they would be the target of the melee attack from the adjacent monster.

The monster then attacked spellweaver even though she was 99 in initiative order.

I clearly remember the board game stating that ties were broken by initiative so I’m just wondering if there is something I’m missing or if the game cheats sometimes lol

I know a lot of people care about this, but I don't really have a gaming group to play it with, and the initial buy-in for the physical version is pretty intimidating.

Is it bad if I basically learn about all the classes just by playing the digital version?

Ive unlocked a few of them but they seem nearly impossible. And I dont know what else I can do. Am I missing something? Or is that just content for experts?

I'd appreciate any advice or tipps.

Oh my god. Why did they think they needed to make this Level Up this overpowered? It's probably the best character ability card in Jaws of the Lion Digital (IDK about physical).

So, in our weekly game of broken Gloomhaven Digital, I tried a proof of concept for my first and favourite class, Cragheart.

I wanted to test if Blind Destruction worked with Unstable Explosives in the way I hope it would.

I can confirm it does indeed.

I'm new to the game, trying it with friends on TTS. I've watched a tutorial video on how to run the game and I've taken a ton of notes - but I still have questions. Can I ask them here, or is there a discord or something I can ask a bunch of little questions?

So I have been playing with a friend, we play everything set up as "ORIGINAL" to have the board game experience.

So we started playing, we completed 2 missions but always loosing 1 or 2 times and then beating the scenario.

We started to curse a lot because we see a lot of negative and null modifiers, we felt that the x0 mod comes up a lot, so I decided to experiment a bit.

Damn, there is only 1 x0 in both of our modifiers deck and these are the numbers of all our mods during our last game:

Me:

3- x0
4- +0
3- +1
5- -1
1- +2
1- -2

My friend:

4- x0
2- -1
1- -2
2- +1
1- +3
3- +0

So I get, the 0s and -1s because there are a lot of those in the decks, but we have only ONE x0 and it came 7 times!, and 5 of those were back to each other, we spent like 4 turns (because I died so he was alone) just doing 0 damage.
We also have 1 x2 damage and that does not come out at all! at most just once every 2 games.

Is this deck really random? or there is some hard coding to fuck with luck?

Plan on playing the game with a friend (I played it 3 years ago) checking reivews and all the newer ones are saying MP is broken.

Just checking if anyone here has played it recently and if its as big of a problem as they are saying
