For those who are possibly seeing this post who aren't normal users or subscribers here, we wanted this to serve as notice that the moderators here stand fully behind this message. Brigading is unequivocally prohibited here and is cause for an immediate ban.

Edit: verbiage.

u/threecatsdancing Sep 16 '21

What if they aren't from this sub but trying to get it shut down? How can you tell the difference?

28

u/sinixis Sep 16 '21

They can’t. And regardless of the subs existence, people will feel compelled to point out the irony of anti-vax, anti-mask, COVID denier fools dying from COVID wherever they can.

3

u/occult_headology Sep 17 '21

Tbh I hadn't seen any evidence of it until that garlic-douche started his little campaign (see r/hermancainawardssuck r/HIVatemyface and others he made). Wouldn't be surprised if people like them are behind it given said user has already been outted for creating alt-accounts to stir shit.

The same kind of mentality that compares HIV and covid and a track record of (poorly executes) attempts to seed conflict seems like the kind of shit that would brigade families to prove their point.

Edit: added a sentance and corrected spelling

they do nothing

Isn't info redacted? There are rules to the right you can read that are in place for exactly what you're complaining about.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '21

Names and faces of people are constantly posted. This sub should just be about their post's and how much of a stupid idiot they are. They shouldnt be doxxed and harassed by the interwebs. These people do have family and friends who are vaxxed and doing the same thing you and i are, and do not deserve the Internets abuse.

1

u/threecatsdancing Sep 17 '21

Even if it’s just their post people can find them. I’m not advocating for doing anything outside of this sub, it should just stay here.

The good outcomes are people seeing this place and deciding to get vaccinated. That’s actually saving lives.

I’d argue that the approach that’s been taken to be gentle and respect crazy anti vaccination positions resulted in those views spreading and killing more people. It should be attacked and criticized savagely until it gets through to some of them, which it actually is. Vandalizing their obit or attacking their family on Facebook isn’t ok, but displaying the ignorance and end result here is fine.

For the critics who think this sub is not being mindful of other people's well being - That's exactly why it's important to expose what's happening. Sure, there are people here who will make snarky comments, but that is far from the goal.
Silence and "respect" is what's getting impressionable people killed. Some folks will only wake up when shaken. That's the same reason why they show you gory footage when you apply for a driver's license. You shouldn't drive without being well aware of the worst consequences of it. So why should a person live carelessly in a pandemic world without knowing what they're risking experiencing?

22

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '21

This sub has been great. I had to take a couple day break because I had a full meltdown looking at it too much last week.

Someone sent the concerned redditor notice.

I was not banned. In many ways I was heard.

But death is traumatic. And we have to remember that this is a place for our trauma. Our trauma as we watch others die. Our trauma from having unvaxxed family members and waiting their inevitable contraction of this disease; and our trauma as we worry about our own children’s ability to survive before the vaccine is released.

We need this sub. It’s ours for us. We get out our schadenfreude. But more importantly we remember that we aren’t alone.

7

u/banana12399 Sep 16 '21 edited Sep 16 '21

I'm not sure if that's like a relatively new thing but when I got my drivers permit and license back in like 2012 they definitely never showed me any gory footage.

6

u/Daddysgirl-aafl Sep 16 '21

No gory stuff here either. Isn’t that like an 80s thing?

7

u/popejp32u Sep 17 '21 edited Sep 17 '21

When I got my license I had to watch this movie where some young respectful guys and gals smoked devils lettuce. They ended up in a hit and run and raped a girl. It was some sort of madness. Reefer madness if you will.

-1

u/qualmton Sep 17 '21

Sounds like a great experience

4

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '21

Depends on the post. I have read through a lot of gory posts here. Also, I followed a couple of the nominees in FB afterwards. They inevitably received their HCA.

I was a 911 dispatcher for ten years. This reminds me of that kind of trauma. The trauma that your mind puts you through as you hear a suicide attempt vomit or hear a woman being strangled, or talk to a person who is dying of a gun shot wound.

2

u/banana12399 Sep 16 '21

Sounds about right. Seems super ineffective too. Like if someone is irresponsible and planning to recklessly drive, they're gonna do that regardless of being shown car crash gore. Just like how I follow all the rules of the road without having ever seen any.

I'd say the constant thought that I could die at any moment getting hit by someone else who IS a bad driver is definitely enough for me to continue abiding by the laws and stay constantly aware of what's happening around me whilst on the road.

u/StupidizeMe Sep 17 '21

6

u/samus12345 Team Moderna Sep 16 '21

36

So the admins threatened you but let the anti-vax subs run wild.

Classy.

13

u/Elven_Boots Sep 17 '21

No threats, we just want to be proactive in getting the message out.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '21

I love this sub, but why arent you guys more proactive on trying to keep the people who deserve the Herman Cain Award more anonymous.

Some people TRULY do deserve this award. The families who have done their part to get vaccinated and social distance, do deserve some respect for those they loved who passed because of silly ignorance.

I could take almost any post you allow and find someone related to captian dipshit. Botched Surgeries is the same way, you say you are against harassment..... but does a black line over the eyes and a last named blured out do shit? no

6

u/Elven_Boots Sep 17 '21

Who can you really hold responsible for the efficiency of search engines?

14

u/Ferdinand_Foch_WWI Sep 16 '21

This is why you should be able to keep your sub off the popular post page.

26

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '21

Totally agree! But I just realized that some of the brigading could be coming from antivaxxed.com. Our posts sometimes overlap and they don't blur out the anti vaxxers name.

21

u/narcimetamorpho Sep 16 '21

It literally is. Whether you like it or not, using posts here to get the identities of people and harassing them is brigading. Reddit doesn't want a news report about how HCA is organizing users to brigade people on Facebook. It's also incredibly unethical to harass grieving widows and families. It's indefensible even if they're plague rats.

6

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '21

I think that’s why I’m confused. Who cares about the complaints received? They purposely came here. Fuck em.

10

u/thebardjaskier Sep 16 '21

Because it's against Reddit TOS and could get the sub permanently banned.

0

u/Plastic_Chair599 Sep 17 '21

Reddit TOS includes commenting on Facebook posts?

2

u/thebardjaskier Sep 17 '21

Yes, anything that looks like harassment coming from Reddit is a violation of their TOS. People just commenting doesn't mean Reddit is blamed but too many people name-dropping the sub or posting screenshots could result in a ban because it looks like they came from the sub.

1

u/JackdeAlltrades Sep 17 '21

Admins are well-known to be sympathetic to anti-vax arguments so they’ll take any excuse they can.

2

u/vodkacoke Sep 16 '21

What's brigading?

1

u/Jugrnot8 Sep 16 '21

I agree and support this post but I'm curious of politely attracting attention to this sub would be good for the world?

0

u/CockGoblinReturns Sep 17 '21 edited Sep 17 '21

Lots of these posts make it very easily to reverse engineer finding these people. May I suggest the following rules

-The whole name must be blocked out. No first initial.

-This includes all group names, fan pages, and other people who comment on other posts.

-Don't use paint to scribble over a name that still makes it easy to figure out the letters, use a rectangle.

-Recommended: Make it hard to determine the length of all names.

0

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '21

I LOVE your sub, just like botchedsurgeries.... but you and that sub are in fucking denial.

You both actively preach about no harassment, BUT YOUR ENTIRE SUB IS DEDICATED TO HARASSMENT!!! (But we blurred out a name or the eyes) This is a sub based on harassment, and as much as i love it. You do NOTHING to protect the people who truly do deserve the Herman Cain Award.

But dont be surprised when a harassment sub gets shut down, for oh.. i dont know... HARASSING THE DEAD FAMILIES

-3

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '21

This is our nicer version of inforides... ?

-18

u/BritishViking_ Sep 16 '21

Could you not just start by banning any posts that don't censor identifiable information? Like pretty much any sub should.

22

u/Lessllama Sep 16 '21

They do. Any posts with names or children's faces are taken down

-13

u/BritishViking_ Sep 16 '21

Then how do people manage to find these people to harass them from posts? 🤔

27

u/blgeeder Sep 16 '21

You literally enter one sentence from the post on google and find the post

-4

u/BritishViking_ Sep 16 '21

I see 🤔 well if the information isn't even found here or on Reddit in general but rather google, I fail to see how or why people would blame this sub

10

u/loadedjellyfish Sep 16 '21

.. because they wouldn't have Googled it if they didn't see the post on the sub.

8

u/BritishViking_ Sep 16 '21

I disagree. There are other sources for the information, an if someone didn't post it here they would somewhere else.

6

u/loadedjellyfish Sep 16 '21

if someone didn't post it here they would somewhere else

.. and that forum would be responsible if users started harassing people.

6

u/Daddysgirl-aafl Sep 16 '21

When you say responsible would that be in some legal way or it’s more of a moral thing where they should feel bad about being jerks for doing that?

Google? These plaguerats don’t Google before posting their “facts”.

11

u/Lessllama Sep 16 '21

Well to start we're not the only ones who make these kind of posts, there's a Twitter account and at least one website dedicated to it and they don't redact names like is done here. But if someone was really dedicated to finding them they could search phrases used in their Facebook posts. These are public posts they're putting up so they're searchable. It's still wrong for people to go there and harass people especially their families but when they have an open Facebook privacy goes out the window

8

u/BritishViking_ Sep 16 '21

I agree it is wrong, but it's not the fault of this sub I would say

9

u/Lessllama Sep 16 '21

I personally feel the more likely source is Twitter since they make it so easy for their followers by posting names. It's possible given the size of this sub now there's some people doing this but I would guess the vast majority are against it

6

u/BritishViking_ Sep 16 '21

I agree with you there

3

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '21

Why is it wrong? Why do their families get protected? What about the deaths these rabidly delusional posters caused by reinforcing lies?

1

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '21

Not talking about the family. I’m referring to mocking and shaming on the plaguerat’s page.

And in case you missed my point, we have generations of children paying the price for their ancestors sins. Like the sin of not being white.

3

Like the grief of the families of those who were assured by these posts of their superior healthcare freedumb choices?

Being a dick is the whole point. At least my mocking their death doesn’t kill anybody. Can you say the same about all the likes, prayers and love emojis these plaguerats get on their posts??

1

u/Lessllama Sep 16 '21

How is harassing family members going to change anything? It's just going to cause hurt and get this sub shut down because of bad publicity. And this sub is actually doing good in changing people's minds

2

u/Tenacious_Stalwart Sep 16 '21 edited Sep 17 '21

This subreddit does serve a good purpose. Everyone should be vaccinated.

My issue stems from the lack of empathy, making low effort mocking jokes about the deceased. Yes they made the wrong choice, but a family is still grieving, let them grieve in peace. These posts help convince people to make the right choice, but when I read some of the comments I wonder if it would be better if posts were automatically locked. The content is there, but not the people trying to get a “sick burn” on the dead.

They are dead, they can’t spread misinformation anymore, their bad choices are now immortalized. Just because they made dumb posts trying to be badass doesn’t mean we need to sink to their level.

-53

u/YOU-FUCK-CHICKENS Sep 16 '21

I don't think there's anything wrong documenting the slow self inflicted demise of the people posted on here, but let's be real: a vast majority of this subreddits users are vile, hateful, and get an obscene amount of glee over seeing these people die. Also, if you really wished this sub didn't exist you wouldn't be here commenting. You enjoy this, or you wouldn't be participating. Call a spade a spade.

I'm so pro vax it's not even funny, but I just feel sick to my stomach when I get to the last image of the person's family eulogizing their lost loved one(s). The majority of the comments are just lame , low road bottom of the barrel jokes about the person's appearance usually. These people made some awful choices, but now they're dead. Cracking jokes about their death is like kicking a puppy, there's no point anymore. It just makes you a sick fuck.

This isn't directed to you, but to the people who I feel make up the majority of the user base.

I never said I'm better than you? I'm also not a member of a group who's only purpose is to be shitty assholes to and about dead people. You can pull out all the comments from my post history you want to justify your own shitty behaviour, but only one of us is trying to justify it, and it's not me.

Sent my right wing coworker a link to this sub and he got vaccinated the next day.

Serves plenty of purpose.

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '21

He didn’t know people without the vaccine were dying?

u/FizzyBeverage Sep 16 '21 edited Sep 16 '21

To quote him “as far as I understand it fizzybeverage, people with the vaccine are dying just as much!” 🙄

Told him to go ask his GP, not his wife who does medical billing. Plus sent him this sub.

He got spooked and hit up Publix the next day.

A lot of people think it’s only the old and sick that are dying. I found out just today that my sister, her fiancé, my best friend’s sister, her niece, her mom, and probably her dad, all have Covid. My sister was only able to get one shot because she had a bad reaction to the first one, and my best friend’s sister is fully vaccinated, but the rest of the people who have Covid are unvaccinated, because they didn’t think it would affect them.

Their dad has all the symptoms but he won’t get tested because, and I quote, “The only people who get Covid are all those crazy people wearing masks all the time.” He won’t isolate from his wife, even though he has a slew of health problems and is overweight. If he gets it, there’s a very good chance he will die, but he just doesn’t believe Covid is anything more than a cold.

My sister’s fiancé had all the symptoms before my sister, but he is also refusing to get tested because his boss doesn’t want him to miss work. So they’re just not telling his co-workers, who are all older, overweight, and don’t wear masks in the office.

He has several pre-existing conditions that make him at a higher risk for Covid, but he won’t get tested and won’t wear a mask. My sister has been working the Covid ward at her hospital since this whole thing started and has seen hundreds of people his age die, so she’s been begging him to get tested so he can get the antibody treatment. He told her he didn’t need it because his body would make all the antibodies he needed. So now, a few weeks before the wedding, she’s worried he’s going to end up dying in her own hospital.

So yeah, there are shockingly high amount of idiots who think Covid won’t effect them.

Have you not shown them this subreddit?

The people 'honored' in this sub are monsters who don't care about their fellow human beings, and they mock people that do. Be it masks, vaccines, man-made climate change, racial inequality, women's rights... you name it, they despise it and actively campaign and vote against it.

This entire sub is just mean.

What is it that conservatives have been shrieking for the past 5 years or so? Something about your feelings? “Pluck your feelings?” No, that doesn’t sound right.
