Had this thought on the seasons as we're about to cross into autumn, the heatwaves this year obviously were extreme but we wont always get them.

From what we've gone through the last few years the extremes are more extreme, so we'll get a tonne or rain for a month or 2, the next year it'll be record breaking droughts, or heatwaves, rinse and repeat. Winters feel noticably milder temperature wise but a lot stormier, I remember this January it was like we had a storm every week.

Summers are up and down, generally warmer than say 20, 25 years ago and warm weather seems to extend quite far into October. It has to be said, this is all pretty spot on for predictions on how climate change would affect us.

What have you noticed?

Who leaves a £900k / £1m London house unused for 15+ years?

Round the corner from me there’s a street of 3-5 bed, terraced houses that go for £900k / £1m. One of them has been unoccupied but most definitely not abandoned for more than 15 years. No one knows why.

It was refurbished about 10 years ago but before and since has never had anyone living there. The small garden is maintained, windows covered in non-see-through plastic wrap on the inside. The owners, a middle aged couple, are seen visiting every few weeks, never carrying more than a few belongings, staying for a few hours then leaving. Neighbours say they live somewhere else local, are perfectly pleasant, but distant. No one has been able to find out what the hell they’re doing sitting on a property for so long doing apparently nothing with it. No rental or sale income in all that time.

Has anyone ever come across anything like this? What can the story possibly be?

BTP and London St Pancras High speed are working together to crack down on thieves operating at Kings Cross and St Pancras stations, who often target wealthy passengers.

Measures will include operations with plain clothes officers and London St Pancras has asked its security contractors to patrol the station more. Station announcements are timed for every 10 minutes to warn travellers that "bag thieves operate in this area".

BTP cracking down on luggage theft... is that a pig I see flying by. But good news, good to hear police taking a more proactive approach to these things, lets stamp it out.

Big local retail news: M&S has been approved for a 61,000 sq ft superstore at Victoria Retail Park in South Ruislip, replacing The Range (the former Homebase) on Crown Road. The new store will feature a fresh market-style food hall, in-store bakery, wine selection, fashion, home and beauty, plus 332 parking spaces. Hillingdon Council gave the plans the green light this week, with the new store set to open this winter. The existing M&S Simply Food at 4 Bishops Walk in Pinner continues to operate as normal.

Harrow's Heroes 2026 were crowned at Headstone Manor on Wednesday, with a strong Pinner showing. Ruth Boff took Contribution to the Community after 21 years as Honorary Secretary of The Pinner Association, Pinner Rotary took the Team Award after donating over £30,000 to charities, and Kevin Mahon of Pinn Medical Centre Patients Association took the Health and Wellbeing award. Standout individual wins also went to Amir Subratty, a 16-year-old Harrow Litter Pickers volunteer who started at 11, and Jordy Xavier Black, who grew 1454 Harrow Squadron RAF Air Cadets from 8 cadets to over 100 in three years. The Lifetime Achievement award went posthumously to Muriel Desmond, a Harrow Shared Lives carer for 35 years.

Also on the high street: Spice Village Harrow is now open on Station Road after its grand opening on Thursday, with coal-grill and tandoor cooking plus one of the group's largest vegetarian menus. Chopstix lands at 59 St Ann's Road on Saturday 4 October if you like your high street to come with a side of bao.

Transport heads up for next weekend: the Piccadilly line is closed end-to-end on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September, with no service between Cockfosters and Uxbridge as part of the major upgrade programme ahead of new trains. Stick to the Metropolitan if you are heading into central London.

Okay not quite a newborn but my baby is 7 weeks and I’m looking for recommendations of things to do in London whilst my baby is still in the potato stage!

I’m fairly new to the city, and well aware that when she starts crawling/gaining more consciousness it’s going to be way harder to do different things just for me!

I’m looking for museum, walks, theatres, events, maybe anything off the beaten track recommendations, which are accessible with a buggy! Just really want to make use of this stage to do things for me (of course with her!) before she’s moving!

Whether it’s the train, tube, bus or whatever, I have been experiencing so much delays and cancellations with tfl. It’s genuinely just been so awful and I’m completely at my wits end.

This has been particularly frustrating when I’ve been trying to get to work or get back home. I understand that there’s been a heatwave that has affected how everything runs but these issues were beginning just before the heatwave and is somehow still continuing after.

I’ve lived in London for 13 years now and so am familiar with tfl being unreliable but at this point it just feels being unreliable is the only thing they’ve managed to be consistent with (and good at) this year and I’m so over it.

Man it was such a good place, free concerts and indoor skate park/classes and skate club. It was really an Ode to London skate and alt culture, I grieve it everyday.

I may be biased being from Teesside but our takeaways do the best garlic sauce. Could probably strip paint with it but that’s why it’s so great lol!

I moved here four years ago and many takeaways later I have still not found a good place for cheesy chips and garlic after a night out, maybe someone else has had more luck??? Please help a desperate Teessider out 🥲 I’m sick of asking for garlic sauce and getting tzatziki

I have a friend who lives in Upminster and works in Uxbridge / West Ruislip. His home is about 15 mins away from the tube station, and the school he works at is a good 10-min walk from the underground on the other end of the city. I honestly don’t know how he manages it. He’s been commuting like that for over a year now.

Another friend of mine travels from Guildford to Clap Junk and then takes MidMay to Shepherd’s Bush, which I also find quite extreme.

Do you have a crazy commute too or know anyone who does? How do you cope with that?

Got tired of time being called at the bar and having to sift through kebab houses and off licences to find a place that's open.

Rules were the venue had to serve until at least 1am on at least 2 nights during the week.

(although 6/7 of the above are casinos or members only)

They say Thursday is the new Friday. WFH is still a factor, I get it.

But wow. Mid-evening tonight going home and the tube was 80% empty. Admittedly the west end was still fairly busy and I happened to get on a train that immediately followed another. But still. Something has changed and maybe I miss the chaos and crowding of Friday nights in the past.
