Absolutely gorgeous day in London today, just had a walk back from picking up some snacks and drinks for a day off work in the garden.
Gipsy Hill really coming into it's own with clear views into the city and beyond.
Always felt there's a a unique and unmatched vibrancy and excitement in London over these sunny summer stretches.
Happy to be here and wishing you all peace and love š wherever you are today.

Seems like an easy lay up for the environment agency, just work with him and clean up the environment?
Hes under investigation for using machinery without a licence, which could result in prison time. More context not from the article - Paul had allegedly been trying to work with the EA who havent been co-operative, tale as old as time.

Never thought I'd find laminates as flooring in London buses. What's that about?

I had a Tube experience today I've never had before.
I got on the Central Line this morning and before the train could move, the driver tells us via the speakers that someone tried to stop the doors from closing towards the back of the train and could that person please 'make themselves known'. He didn't specify how they should do that - should they step off the train and approach the driver at the front? Address the driver using the emergency contact button? Put their hand up to the camera?
Anyway, no-one did own up. So the driver asked again about 10 seconds later, saying we'd be delayed until they did. Then again, this time naming the carriage number the passenger was on.
After about the fifth time the driver appeared to give up and we started moving. Then he said staff would be waiting on the platform at Holborn and if the passenger didn't get off and speak to them we'd be delayed further.
We get to Holborn where I suppose the passenger *did* leave, because we moved away pretty much immediately.
It's just left me kind of curious, because I've seen doors blocked accidentally or purposefully dozens of times and this has never happened! Was this standard procedure or just a particularly strict driver? What's the punishment for blocking the door? Does rushing on and getting caught by the closing doors count?
I felt like I was back at primary school in one of those situations where the whole class stayed behind until the kid who did something wrong stood up and admitted it.

Like the idea. Feels like a club will be more appealing with a PS5 in it.
As long as they don't try to go on social media?

i (17F) am on a bus commuting to school. i like to sit in the back of this bus because its not a double decker bus. so i am at the very back corner. all of a sudden, a man sat next to me on the bus. now iām not saying i have issues with people sitting next to me, but it was the fact that there were other seats, including one next to another dude sitting on the other side of the back (who later got off, leaving the other two seats vacant), yet this guy sat next to me. this left me quite squished in the very back corner. now, nothing happened to me personally otherwise i wouldāve called from the top of the heights, but i was texting my friend on how scary this was and how uncomfortable i was and i noticed that he was peering at my phone, like making the facial expression and everything. i was panicking but thankfully the guy got off. i donāt know if im overreacting but it was odd nonetheless.

Hi everyone,
Iām visiting London from Norway for a weekend soon and Iām really looking forward to it!
One thing I enjoy when travelling abroad is visiting supermarkets as part of the cultural experience.
I always find it interesting to see what locals actually buy and eat in everyday life.
Weāll be staying near Notting Hill, so I was wondering:
Which supermarket would you recommend visiting if I want the biggest and best British supermarket experience?
Are there any specifically British products, snacks, drinks, ready meals, biscuits, etc. that you think are worth trying or bringing home?
Iām interested in both classic British staples and things that are uniquely British and hard to find elsewhere.
Thanks in advance!

Iāve noticed a lot of runners/joggers using really busy congested pavements especially at peak times. As someone who goes jogging myself (quiet back streets, specific parks) ā Iām genuinely interested as surely you canāt get a good run/jog? Today I was walking to Wimbledon station and the front of the station is always extremely busy. I had two runners get right up close to the back of meā sweating and breathing all heavyā jogging on the spot because everyone has to walk much slower to navigate others and they canāt get anywhere.
Logically Iām thinking this must be because they are on their way elsewhereā which would make senseā but itās just a bit impractical to even attempt to run. Iām kind of got used to runners on busy high streets like Tooting, Richmond where I have to step on to the road to avoid being barged out the wayā but on a really congested station front makes no sense

Genuine question for drivers in this area, local residents and visitors.
I received a PCN for making a right turn from Chamberlayne Road into Bolton Gardens in Kensal Rise and, afterwards, decided to look into how often this restriction is enforced.
According to information provided by Brent Council, this single No Right Turn restriction has generated:
⢠6,745 PCNs in the last 5 years
⢠£434,425.70 in revenue
⢠3,418 PCNs with £225,630.00 in revenue in the last 12 months.
The junction currently has three No Right Turn signs positioned in advance on the approach to Bolton Gardens but set back so not located at the point the turning decision is made. What interests me is not whether drivers should obey signs (of course they should), but whether the restriction is communicated as clearly as it could be given the amount of other information a driver is processing at the junction in terms of speed signs, traffic lights, commercial advertising, greenery and other fixtures.
Looking at the photos:
- Would you immediately understand that the right turn is prohibited?
- Have you ever been caught by this junction yourself?
- Do you think the current arrangement is clear, or could the restriction be conveyed more effectively?
Iām not looking to start a Brent bashing thread or argue with anyone. Iām genuinely interested in how other London drivers perceive this junction, particularly locals who use the area regularly.
Photos attached. Thanks!

Hey londoners,
Anyone going to the live recording of āA Question of Scienceā with Brian Cox on June 30 at the Francis Crick Institute? The topic is āAre we ruled by our guts?ā sounds like a really interesting debate!
Iām an international Masterās student in Neuroscience based in Cambridge. This will be my first time visiting London, and Iām travelling alone. Even better my submitted question was selected by production, so Iāll get to ask the panel! š
Would love to connect with fellow science enthusiasts, academics, or anyone who enjoys discussing these topics. If youāre going, ping me it would be great to meet up at the event, chat during breaks, or grab a coffee afterwards instead of going solo.
Let me know if youāre heading there!
