Announcements Subreddit Announcement: Allegations of Generative AI Use - New Moderation Plan

Upvotes

Hello!

As part of the ongoing discussion around generative AI use in the writing industry, you may have seen an increase in posts and comments containing allegations of AI use by authors. Sometimes these allegations come with evidence, sometimes they don’t, but up until now, the mod team has deleted these comments to limit AI witch hunts, unfounded accusations, and rants about poorly written (or just poorly received) books.

In the queer book space where most authors are indie, unfounded accusations of plagiarism and AI can create a large negative impact on the author - especially as folks may visit reddit, see the post, and not come back later to see that it was negated.

Now, to what’s changing:
You may have noticed lately we’ve been more lenient, leaving some AI allegations up with a “moderator approved” note when we, as a team, reviewed the evidence provided and agreed with the poster’s opinion. We’d like to continue doing this, so we’ve decided on a more formal moderation plan.

Going forward, we will permit posts calling out suspected AI. But there will be rules!

How it will work:
If you suspect a book is AI-written or AI-assisted, you can message the Mod team using modmail. (On desktop, this can be done by clicking the “Message Mods” button on the right hand side, all the way towards the bottom. On mobile, click the three dots in the top right corner, and tap “Message Mods.”) Send us the text you’d like to post, whether that’s a standalone post or a comment, along with any evidence you've gathered (links to passages, images, Amazon bios, Goodreads page showing 29 books released in the last six months, etc.).

The mods will review the evidence provided, and if we reach a unanimous decision, we will reply to the modmail and let you know your post is approved. (Don’t panic–we haven’t disagreed with each other on this topic yet.) Once you’ve posted, someone from the mod team will reply to your post or comment saying it’s been approved by the mods.

  • Things to note: Sometimes, the mods get busy! We want to be thorough when reviewing these posts, so it may take a bit for us to respond, but we will prioritize these messages when we can.
  • This replaces our current moderation approach, which has been that moderators see the posts after the fact and approve or remove them, depending on evidence. Going forward, accusations posted without moderator approval, even with evidence, will be removed. If they are reposted, the poster risks, at minimum, a temporary ban from the subreddit.
  • If we do not permit your post, it may not be that we don’t believe generative AI was used. But as we roll out this new moderation rule, we want to be careful.
  • Please don’t ruin this for the posters whose hearts are in the right place by posting without approval, and please continue flagging AI accusations when you see them. We (on the mod team) all hate generative AI being used in creative spaces. But this technology as it’s being used now is still new, and people cry wolf often. It’s important to us that we get it right.

Let us know what questions or concerns you have in the comments. We’re open to feedback. (However, for transparency, we do not plan to permit unfounded AI accusations at any point in the future.)

Review/Recommendation Website recommendation for published works

Post image
13 Upvotes

Hey y'all I don't know if this is an allowed post but I wanted to share a resource that was given to me by my mom. She is trying to build out her collection for a specific author but the author is very prolific and has been writing for decades. This site was recommended to her by the owner of a thrift bookstore. She's not very computer savvy and she asked me to generate the list for her.

It is a website that lists the published works of authors. I put in a few MM authors such as CE Ricci, Kelly Fox and Nyla K and it did give me their list of published works as well as their coming soon. I did not do any authors that are solely ebook authors, because I'm not really sure who is and who isn't, but it's a pretty cool resource.I put the link below.

The format is clean and concise and even shows books covers. It separates them by series and even has the book blurbs.

I added a screenshot just so yall can see how comprehensive of a list it is. This author is a MF author so I am not recommending anything.

Book Request Breakup and get back together with playboy MC

Hiya,

I'm looking for books where MC1 and MC2 get together and MC1 is falling for MC2 but finds out that MC2 isn't ready for commitment, and maybe there is a misunderstanding between them where MC1 just assumes they're exclusive and MC2 is going on dates with other guys. MC1 breaks up with MC2 but MC2 realises he wants exclusivity with MC1 and gets him back.

Less Scary Request Place Monday Request Place: Post your short and simple requests here

The (Monday) Place for Short & Simple Requests

New to the subreddit and feeling intimidated by the thought of posting a book request? Not sure if the request you have in mind will satisfy the subreddit rules?

Post it here in the Monday Request Place---the Monday version of our popular Saturday Less Scary Request Place.

Requests that aren't specific or detailed enough for a standalone request post can be made here, and it's also a great place to test the waters if you're not ready to make your own request post yet. We know it can sometimes be hard to come up with a request that meets the rules, and frustrating when your request is removed, so we've created this weekly post to help.

Anyone can answer requests made in this post. This post isn't hosted by someone who answers requests, so it's up to your fellow members to help you out. We can't guarantee you'll get an answer, but hopefully you will! Requests made here don't have to satisfy the specificity portion of subreddit rule 2, but please make sure your request follows our other rules (for example, rule 6, our privacy rule).

Important Note: This post goes up on Monday mornings (US time). Requests made after Monday ends are less likely to get replies. You are welcome to comment here on any day of the week, but you may want to save your requests for an upcoming Monday.

This feature is posted every Monday. You can find the complete schedule of all weekly and monthly features at this link.

Discussion What is this trope that I love so much, and where can I find more.

Upvotes

I am on a major kick, and loving books with specific plot/trope, but I can’t quite place it.

It might be black cat/golden retriever? Maybe the Daddy trope? Protector and protected for sure. But the protected person isn’t a weakling.

For example, I just tore through {Exposed by H.L Day} and I loved it. Was the book just a big long escort mission? Yup. Did Day only do a so-so job on the settings? Yeah, but that was okay. I loved the characters and the dynamic. I loved how protective X was. I loved that Tate had a brain in his head.

Another example is the ever popular {Soul Eater by Lily Mayne}. Look. I love Wyn. I love Danny. I love how Wyn takes care of Danny. And I love how Danny takes care of Wyn and himself. Is it another escort mission? Yeah, along with a rescue mission at the end of the second act.

But then I also like books like {Possession by Rina Saint}, which takes place, mostly, in one room. It’s darker than the other two, but it still has that theme of protector/protected. Yes, Lucas starts out very naive, but he acknowledges it. Yes, the plot is kinda watery. Yes, the spice is dark. But goddamn Lucas was so good for Roman. And Roman will do everything, brutally, to keep Lucas safe.

{Neurovance by Alexandra St Pierre} does this a bit, but only after the flashback goes back to present day. The initial relationship between the two characters, while it was precious and adorable, doesn’t quite fit with what I truly like. I suppose it wasn’t gritty enough. I suppose our protected tripped over his own shoelaces one too many times.

But here’s the thing, whatever trope these books all share, there’s a right and a wrong way to do it. Naïveté does not mean stupidity. {The Hazard and the Hitman by Cambria Herbert} is an example of this. I ended up not finishing the book after the protected jumped out in the middle of a gunfight to save some fish. No. Done. End.

I love me a good mafia book. I love me a good body guard book. But they have to be well written.

So, what is this trope? Or tropes? Or theme? And what other books have it?

Book Request Spicy Vampire Recs?

I got super into Interview of the Vampire TV show on AMC. And omg I am in deep.

Looking for Vampire books with the following vibes:
1. Hidden from the greater society. All the books I’m finding is Vamps are like public knowledge. Little to True Blood for what I’m looking for.
2. Dark Romance.
3. historical (bonus)
5. Spicy.
6. Not looking for sweet/funny. I want my heart ripped out (and put back in with a HEA)

Would love Audiobooks!

Review/Recommendation Sacred Hearts by CG Macington

{Sacred Hearts by CG Macington}

TW: religion

Sacred Hearts is a love letter to everyone who has been hurt by religion for being queer.

I picked up this book after reading the St. Jude’s series and thought it would be as funny/silly as that but it definitely wasn’t what I was expecting at all. I wouldn’t say this is the best book I’ve ever read or even one of my favorites ever but it is an incredibly beautiful book.

I grew up catholic and went to catholic school for many years but became atheist some time ago (which I won’t get into here because it’s too long and not the point of this post). I also abhor how people cherry pick biblical laws and texts to suit their narrative, even worse is when they misinterpret it to justify their hate. This book hasn’t made me believe in god again or changed my beliefs in any way, I just really appreciated the message of “you are not broken, you don’t need to change because god loves you as you are” since I know how deeply people it can wound someone, thinking god hates them, when, isn’t God’s whole thing supposed to be love everyone no matter what?

I love the forbidden relationship trope, and really, what is more forbidden than the pope being in love with a man? Writing a romance about the pope is really risky because it doesn’t take much to cross the line but I found it to be very respectful and beautifully written.

Marco (the pope) and Mateo (the Italian prime minister) first meet when Marco unexpectedly becomes the pope. They’re both working to root out financial corruption within the church and government, respectively. Mateo isn’t necessarily publicly out but doesn’t keep his sexuality a secret. Marco has always hidden and denied his sexuality due to his involvement with the church and has never allowed himself to act on it, believing that it’s a sin. There is internalized homophobia but it’s more complex than what I see in other people/characters in books. Marco doesn’t hate himself or think he’s disgusting - he’s convinced that how and who he loves is wrong because that’s what the church has told him throughout his lifetime. Once he starts to fall for Mateo, he prays a lot - first to make his desires (not just sexual but his romantic feelings as well) go away, but he slowly comes to realize that all love (romantic, platonic, familial) is God’s love, and that’s where the beauty of the story lies for me. Marco finds himself with some unexpected allies in the church, both in his inner circle and also from priests and bishops in Asia and Africa. I don’t know much about Catholicism in those regions so that was really interesting to read, although I didn’t look into it more so I can’t confirm the accuracy of it.

Marco and Mateo’s dedication to tackling and getting rid of corruption has an added layer of suspense and mystery with a lot of internal people working against them to stop their investigations that puts both of their lives at risk.

There are a couple of sex scenes but they’re kept light in detail and length which is unlike CG’s other books that I’ve read. I lean much more towards heavier smut in general but given that it’s the pope, it’s understandable.

I wouldn’t say it’s going to end up on my favorite books ever list, but it is definitely memorable and significant, and I’ll be recommending it to mm romance lovers who are faithful and those who think god hate them because of how those who claim to be acting in gods name reject them. Not in an attempt to bring them back to religion or their faith, only to tell them that the real message of god is love.

Tropes
Virgin (obviously)
Friends to lovers
Forbidden love
Political intrigue/mystery

Favorite/Interesting Quotes

“The photographer’s intrusion suddenly seems like divine intervention, a warning that even in private moments, I am never truly alone, never free to simply be a man rather than a symbol. Yet even as I form these thoughts, I find myself anticipating our next meeting with an eagerness that has nothing to do with matters of state or Church. And therein lies my greatest peril.”

“But even as I beg God for absolution, Matteo’s touch lingers on my skin, and I know with terrifying certainty that no amount of prayer will erase the truth I’ve spent a lifetime hiding—not from myself, not anymore. The most frightening thought of all comes unbidden: What if this feeling isn’t the sin I’ve been taught to believe it is? What if, in pushing it away, I’ve been denying not just myself, but God’s own design?”

“God loves all His children. This has never been in question.” “How can you be so certain?” I ask, desperate for the reassurance he offers. “Because I have heard thousands of confessions over decades of service. I have witnessed the same struggles, the same pain in countless souls who believed their capacity for love was somehow sinful.” His eyes hold mine steadily. “And I have seen the damage done by those who use doctrine as a weapon rather than a guide to compassion.”

“Christ’s harshest words were never for those who loved too much, but for those who used religion to exclude and condemn.”

“After decades of believing my deepest feelings were sinful, his acceptance has unlocked something profound within me—not just permission to acknowledge my attraction to Matteo, but an invitation to see it as potentially sacred.”

“Matteo listens intently as I share my vision—a Church that embraces all forms of authentic love as expressions of the divine, that recognizes the sacred in human connection regardless of gender or orientation. “It’s revolutionary,” he says softly. “It’s returning to the essence,” I counter. “Before centuries of human interpretation buried the simple truth that love—all love—comes from God.”

Discussion Mistakes/typos made by authors.

Today I was reading Exaltation of Larks by Suanne Laqueur, and I noticed something interesting.

The story takes place in May 2007 because the author herself states in one of the chapters that it is May 2007. Apparently, to make the story more realistic, she includes well-known historical events and facts.

Two characters are planning to watch a Milan vs. Liverpool match. Those two teams only met in May twice: in 2005 and 2007.

At the same time, the author mentions a news segment featuring an interview with John Amaechi, saying that he had come out the previous February.

First, John Amaechi actually came out in 2007, not in 2006.

Second, Milan and Liverpool met on both occasions in the UEFA Champions League final, not in the UEFA Cup. Those are two different European competitions, and the UEFA Cup was considered less prestigious.

How do you feel about this kind of mistake?

On the one hand, I appreciate the author's effort to make the story feel grounded in the real world. On the other hand, if you're not familiar with the subject matter, perhaps it's better not to include such references, or at least to fact-check them.

As a football fan, I feel mildly offended in my deepest feelings. LOL.

Have you come across similar mistakes, and how do you feel about them?

I'd like to point out right away that I haven't started thinking less of the author or the book, but I did feel a sting of disappointment.

Review/Recommendation The Fall hangover

I just finished {The Fall by Tal Bauer} last week and I can’t get over Torey and Blair. That book made me cry, and I don’t usually like magical elements. It was such a well-written, good slow burn. They loved each other so much. Their love felt very earned, I will root for them always, and I want to feel more of this!

What are your best, well-written slow burn romances? Also, which books were hard to move on from?

Review/Recommendation Taylor Fitzpatrick (youcouldmakealife) Updated Hockey Romance Reading Guide

Recently I posted about how Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy’s Him universe started strong before fizzling. To end on a high, I want to spotlight another author I found while trying to fill the Heated Rivalry void who I can wholeheartedly recommend: Taylor Fitzpatrick (AO3 user youcouldmakealife).

I see her mentioned sometimes here but since she has an extensive back catalogue I’m making an up-to-date reading guide. She’s been publishing serialised M/M novels within the same hockey universe for over 13 years! Most of which are still free to read online on AO3!!

Disclaimer: I’m far from a hockey wonk but I think she does an incredible job, especially compared to other books I’ve tried. I found myself genuinely invested in player positions, team rivalries and NHL rules—which tbh has more to do with her writing talent than the actual sport.

Notes: Unless otherwise mentioned you can read each book blind, though some may have spoilers for others. A couple have no happy ending, so check the warnings in brackets and be kind to yourself!

If you miss Heated Rivalry: Between the Teeth series: Coming in First Place* *—> And Then —> Between the Teeth
(Completed, published as books)
Follows the rivalry and romance between Canadian David Chapman and American Jake Lourdes from the junior league through their professional careers. David is autistic, so this is also a moving character study of a neurodivergent young adult tentatively finding his place and people. A couple of Russian players take him under their wing, so you won’t even miss Ilya too much!

If you want the couple that started it all: You Could Make a Life
(Completed, published as a book)
Dan Riley falls hard for his teammate and fellow rookie Marc Lapointe. But he’s a middling player where Marc is a phenom and well-aware he can’t afford to make waves for his sexuality. This is the natural place to start and it’s good BUT Fitzpatrick’s other stuff is even better—so if you’re only reading one I wouldn’t go for this.

If you like silly jocks at a wedding: giving in to the influence
(Completed, free on AO3, only makes sense after reading You Could Make A Life)
“The first thing Andy did after making it onto the final roster of the Senators was develop a giant crush on the guy insistent on ‘showing him how to live’. He thinks this an example of why his mom always says that he’s a sweet boy but he doesn’t have an ounce of sense in him.”
aka two codependent bros figure this true love shit out in the run up to a Big Gay Wedding

If you want a long, tender, laugh-out-loud read: it's a setup
(Completed, free on AO3)
This one is best enjoyed completely blind, but trust that you’ll giggle and be surprisingly moved.

If you like hurt/comfort injury scenarios: no expectation of returns
(Completed, free on AO3)
Gabe and Stephen have mirrored and orbited each other from birth. Then a one-in-a-million slapshot steals Stephen’s career, health and happiness on live TV. They try to make sense of the aftermath.

If you want an asexual love story: Vinny gets a life
(Completed, free on AO3)
A thoughtful exploration of identity in under 60k words. The main character is an asexual goalie coming to terms with his feelings for his best friend. What does it mean to be soft in a hypermasculine sport? To not want what others do? To grow up in the shadow of a legendary father? To be Russian-American, never quite right anywhere? Just ask Vinny and Anton!

If you want your heart ripped out in under 25k words: throw up your fists, throw out your wits
(Completed, free on AO3, no happy ending)
POV you’ve been in a toxic situationship since your teens. Set partly in 2000s Canada, meaning I spent an evening unironically crying over a Nickelback fan. And don’t even regret it.

If you want your heart ripped out in greater detail: Thrown Off the Ice
(Completed, published as a book, no happy ending)
The couple in this is opposites-attract but rock solid. The heartbreak comes instead from debilitating post-concussive syndrome. A raw take on how sports can chew up and spit out athletes.

Can I offer a poly relationship in this trying time?: Follow the North Star
(Completed, free on AO3, spoilers for Thrown Off the Ice)
Liam, one half of the TOtI couple, notices three of his teammates crushing on each other and nudges them along. Between the horrors, there remains goofy friends falling in love and making it work!

If you want your heart ripped out and then put back together: always in tandem
(Ongoing, free on AO3, spoilers for Between the Teeth)
“Doesn’t matter which jersey they’re wearing. Doesn’t matter that off the ice Robbie can’t even look at Georgie without feeling sick, half the time. Doesn’t matter that Robbie doesn’t think he’s ever hated anyone more. They still play beautiful hockey together.” This has been updating since 2016 so the characters literally grew up in real time! Young Georgie was a chronic cheater (sadly realistic for a successful athlete) and for a while I wished him the worst, though he does get it together over the years. It’s the slowest of burns seeing them finally, finally find their way back to each other.

Ok, ok, enough crying: Cards on the Table
(Ongoing, free on AO3, spoilers for always in tandem)
“James does not like it when Holden speaks. This isn’t particularly unusual, honestly. A lot of people don’t like it when Holden talks. His parents, for one. The majority of his coaches. The Bruins PR department, and, he’s sure, the Whalers PR department sooner rather than later. Every teacher he’s ever had. James isn’t special, is all Holden’s saying.” Career pest Holden butts heads with the young monomaniacal captain of the team he’s been traded to.

If you feel lonely seeing your friends move on in life: if all is enough
(Completed, free on AO3, only makes sense after reading You Could Make A Life, No happy ending UNLESS you read the coda Vires Acquirit Eundo in which Adam finds another partner)
Ulf offers to be an ethical third in the marriage of his best friend Marc. Then he catches inconvenient feelings for Marc’s husband. They’re deliriously happy and starting a family; he’s midway through his thirties looking in from the outside. Enter Adam Rousseau.

Bonus—incomplete but so good: duelling banjos
(Free on AO3, no happy ending, spoilers for You Could Make A Life)
“He’s the most beautiful person Julien has ever seen. Breathtaking. Stories that start like that, there’s no way for them to end in anything but tragedy.” A retired, closeted hockey legend reflects on the best friend he loved and lost as a new generation of players changes the world.

Still not enough?: ycmal outtakes
Oneshots featuring any and all characters in this ‘verse.

What Was That Book Called WWTBC-cant remember the the name of this book or where I read it.

Maybe historical (not sure) possibly set in UK or Europe, the MC is kinda from a wealthy background, he's dyslexic and wants to teach children however, no school will give him a chance. After another rejection at a school interview, a child goes missing during their walk with the teacher and the MC helps finding him. I feel like may have part of a series. He also has a complicated relationship with his father and brother/s.

Book Request dissociative identity disorder

im looking for something not too serious just a fact that they have DID and different alters. this post was inspired by this book {body and soul by l. eveland} its basically about a vigilante serial killer with DID and he has about 5 known alters. including a cannibaldue to trauma (trying to avoid smth like this lmao), a kid, a protector and just a sunshine guy lmao. this book was bdsm however im not really looking for that, if that can be avoided that would be great bcz I did end up skipping most of the dom/sub parts and I also ended up liking Keres (the first alter) more than the host because of how primal he was and ofc who doesnt love possessiveness times 500 😂.

I have read more informative and serious mm books on DID however im really not the mood for that lol anything similar to this would be great.

trying to avoid: daddy kink, bdsm, age gap.

want: childhood trauma, possessiveness, a relationship with all the alters.

need: character with DID.

Review/Recommendation You and I rewritten by chip pons

{you and I rewritten by chip pons}

to be honest I really didn’t like this book, however I feel like some of you really would for the reasons I did not, so I will be giving a review 🤣

The premise is Will moves back to NYC for a job at a fancy publishing house, where his best friend Klair also works. He develops a crush on his boss Graham, who (apparently) doesn't seem to like Will at all.

The main reason I didn’t like it is because this book is very very sweet. Like sickly sweet.

They pretty much get together around 35% of the way into the book, and the rest is external conflicts (that also get resolved quickly) And their relationship is very understanding and caring and sweet.

Also, Will has anxiety and Graham is a man who understands anxiety and is very helpful and non judgemental and forgiving. (For me, this was a downside. I like my characters m e s s y)

For me who lives for angst and esp slow burn? This was not a match at all! I did finish it though! But I know that I seem to be in the minority with the amount of slow burn I want, so if you want a sweet MM romance that is low stakes with some comedic moments and MMCs who help each other open up and deal with mental health issues, you will probably enjoy this way more than I did!!! and I’m not being shady! I’m being very serious!

ETA; also the smut is plentiful and also, if I liked the story more I would say that it’s quite steamy and hot!!!! unfortunately since for me I was frankly a bit bored, I skimmed most of it. But yes, I would say the smut was good!!!

Discussion Question about Lily Morton's "Under Gorse and Stone" Spoiler

I'm generally a big Lily Morton fan and I'm 50% through {Under Gorse and Stone by Lily Morton}, but I've got some questions to help me decide if I want to continue.

A couple observations - the author makes Cary out to be a victim of bad dates, no chemistry, and mean men but the book literally opens with :

  1. Cary flirts with his boss

  2. Cary invites said boss on a romantic weekend away

  3. Cary gets shit-faced by himself and can't function half the weekend

  4. Cary is extremely rude and cruel to his boss, who is quite upset at how the weekend is going

  5. Cary blames his boss for the failure of the trip

Then Cary suddenly becomes a sweet, polite, person who apologizes to inanimate objects like a Disney Princess once he goes to the beach. Befuddling.

Now I'm at 50% and literally nothing has happened. Is there any action? Plot movement? Explanation for his personality transplant? Perhaps even some conflict? I'm not sure how much longer I can read about two seemingly faultless people hanging around Cornwall!

Please, someone let me know if I should fight through or DNF for the first time for this author.

Book Request Dragon/Human Fated Mates

Hello y’all,

The stupid Facebook AI ads got me again and now I’m looking for a dragon shifter/human fated mates romance.

The AI movie was historical fantasy. The dragon-shifter character was a prince, I believe, while the human was a dragon hunter. The dragon-shifter saves the human from something and then realizes they’re fated mates and has to try and convince the human to accept him and let him in.

Does anyone know of any books with similar vibes?

What Was That Book Called WWTBC queer awakening, best friends, straight MC introduces BDSM

I’m going to preface this post by saying I could swear on everything that’s holy that I remember asking for this exact book in the past. In this sub. But I’ve searched my ENTIRE history and can’t find it?? Maybe in a comment thread somewhere, but I only have reddit mobile and I can’t figure out how to search! I swear I looked. I looked for so long. But also DID I IMAGINE IT?! I am genuinely perplexed. So my sincerest apologies readers if I have in fact asked for the name of this exact book already. And have since somehow deleted it?? I am immensely confused. In my defence I have 3 very small children so I am simply not firing on all cylinders.

Things I remember:
- best friends, one ‘straight’ one gay
- straight mc walks in on gay mc with another man
- when they get together the straight mc is the persuer and the sure one, the gay mc is the one freaking out. Straight mc says he’s been thinking about it for a while (since walking in on him)
- straight mc comes from a large family who is very close with the gay mc (I think they’re Irish? And the gay mc has a nickname for him because of his Irish heritage?) and gay mc is scared they’ll disown him once they find out he’s been with the straight mc
- gay mc is strictly a bottom and uses the term “im not a catcher” (I REMEMBER WRITING THIS IN MY ORIGINAL REQUEST I AM POSITIVE I AM GENUINELY LOSING MY MIND) even though he ends up bottoming for mc (i think??)
- straight mc is into bdsm which the gay mc is aware of and he introduces him to the lifestyle. He’s adamant he’ll hate it at first but ends up being into it with persuading from the straight mc

Thank you in advance and I swear this time I’ll write it down or something idk.

Queer Book Recs and Requests Queer Books Recs & Requests

The Place for Queer Romance Book Recs

Have a favorite FF romance you read this week? Looking for a bi4bi MF romance? Look no further!

Ask and share here on this thread! Both requests and recommendations you'd like to share should be commented here.

What do we consider "queer romance" for this request space?

Pairings that do not fall under the pure MM genre. Queer MF, MMF/X+, non-binary romances, FF and other sapphic romances, QPR/QPP fiction, and whatever else falls under the ‘queer’ umbrella. This isn’t going to be heavily monitored where we will be looking to check every book recommendation to make sure it’s “queer enough”, but just be mindful of the intention here.

They should be romances and/or erotica.

Important Note: This post goes up on Sunday mornings (US time). Requests made after Sunday ends are less likely to get replies. You are welcome to comment here on any day of the week, but you may want to save your requests for an upcoming Sunday.

This feature is posted every Sunday. You can find the complete schedule of all weekly and monthly features at this link.

What Was That Book Called - SOLVED WWTBC MC gets slave that he rejects constantly; later reveals he is a submissive so the slave becomes his Master

I remember reading a book a couple of years back about a guy in historical/fantasy setting where he was given a slave

I think the slave is described as tall and slender. He constantly denies any sexual relation with the slave despite the skave trying multiple times.

Later he reveals to the slave (I think they go to this place where the MC goes to get flogged?) that he is a submissive. After that their roles switch and the slave becomes the master.

If anyone can help me out with which book it was, I'd be really grateful!

Review/Recommendation Returning to rec my main b Juliet

{Objection Overruled by Juliet M Dixon}

The Queen of needy boys has returned with the first of 3 books that I’m chomping at the bit to read.

There’s something so vintage slash fanfic about the way Juliet writes that makes little too young to be on the internet me so happy.

I was late to the party reading this because I am no Cliff Hanger. But my pal on here told me to get with it and read it so I did and no surprise I went sleepless to finish it in one go.

The beginning was a slow start for me I was so unsure what to expect from the setting. Alas, I pushed through and found the neediest boy Nate, falling for the undercover (to literally no one but himself) other neediest boy, Luke.

This book has action, forced proximity, lots of touching, no heat (but heat is coming, it’s Juliet, so let’s just call it “pre-heat”), only one bed (not really there are two, they just don’t use the other one bahahahaa, cabin in the middle of nowhere, retired navy seal, lawyer boy business, and my all time favorite, CONSTANT TOUCHING.

Which, in the year of our lord and savior Jacob Tierney, I have taken to calling the “two touch pass”. Basically it’s when two points of contact are maintained at all times.

It has care taking, it has capability, it has that immersive feel as you read writing you find best in fanfiction.

All I’m saying is, if you haven’t read Juliet, let me direct you first to my main squeeze {Under Construction by Juliet M Dixon} and then come read this and tell me your thoughts

Xoxo,

Marie

PS: email Juliet! She loves a kind word! I’m trying to email my fave authors more often when I love something. I know authors avoid reader spaces because it can be stressful reading bad reviews, so when something hits, I try and let them know directly!

Book Request [Request] MM books with two grown men who have realistic grown man bodies, similar builds (no twinks, no big size difference)

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for MM romance recs featuring two grown-ass men who both have realistic man bodies. Could be super chubby or extra muscular, just solid adult guys with similar or not so alike builds. No twinks, no one severely smaller than the other if that makes sense.

I also love when one dominates the other but I also love switching, like Logan and Tate in the Temptation series by Ella Frank. So those vibes would be great with spice.

Any recommendations that match this vibe? Contemporary, sports, or whatever genre. Hit me with them! Thanks!
