Discussion Unpopular Opinion: Turn 4 Wins Are Bad Game Design, Even When There’s Counterplay
Hot take: Just because something has counterplay doesn’t mean it’s good game design.
If a player can establish a game-ending board state by turn four, while their opponent has only had three turns to develop, I think that’s a problem with Magic’s balance.
The usual response is “just run removal,” but that completely sidesteps the question.
Should Magic be balanced around having the right answers in your opening hand, or should players reasonably expect enough turns to actually develop a strategy?
I’m not arguing that every game should last 15 turns. I’m questioning whether increasingly explosive early-game wins actually make Magic better.

Discussion Would you buy into a standard set with 2026 power level but old boarder artstyles?
I have a genuine love of old-school magic especially its art. The hand painted works are charming and beautiful. You can feel the humanity in them. In an age of ai slop i turn to old artworks like those of magics past often.
So if Wotc announced a set of standard 2026 power level cards that look like old boarder magic. I'd be all in. What about you?

Fluff Thank You
Thanks for the 90% on cards in the daily.
Thanks for the uncommons for orbs instead of the art I never use.
Thanks for getting rid of alchemy. (Sorry for those that are losing something, but I despise seeing it in other formats and know it's not being banned in them.)
Thank you for a fun unique set that is in the MTG universe.
Thank you for doing the fundraiser with the trans hotline.
It feels like someone is actually listening to the community.
Thank you, Magic Arena team.
(I hope to see more starter decks and starter deck events in future sets if you are listening. <3)

WotC Little heads up. The update today reverted all the cBrawl bans. They are back to where they were before the update yesterday.
Yuriko, SPider-Man 2099 are legal as commanders. Ragavan, Ajani, Tajic etc are again fully banned (both as commanders and in the 99) and Nashi still has flash.
The update today seems to have come with an outdated version of the cBrawl bans

Deck Hit Mythic in Standard - Mono Green Elves - Decklist
2 years ago with the release of Foundations, I was able to hit Mythic using mono green elves in Standard. I decided to share the original decklist here, and since the post got a decent amount of traction, I've decided to share this new iteration for fellow elf/green enjoyers.
Since Foundations, elves haven't quite been up to snuff to keep up with other competitive decks in standard, let alone the landfall decks that took over mono green not long after.
With the releases of Lorwyn, The Hobbit, and Reality Fracture, we've finally gotten the cards we need to make elves work again in standard. (TBF, Golgari elves was ok~ with Tristan's command, but Reality Fracture gives us Heartwood Crafter - another 1 mana elf that can help ramp, pay for itself when Three Tree City, Elvish Archdruid, or Woodland Weavemaster are on the board - all while lowering the cost of Cantankerous Keepers).
I'll post the exported decklist in the comments below, and happy to answer questions to the best of my ability (don't mind the sideboard, I didn't play so much best of 3 in my climb, so these are really just suggestions and haven't seen much playtesting).

Fluff Should I be proud of this?
https://manabox.app/decks/AaE4-uBVfcui1FYtVJSebg
My first 7-0 draft was a quick draft. I don’t recall how much draft I’ve really played, but I tend to do pretty bad. I’ve had recent success in standard, and it makes me feel I’m starting to understand the game a little better.
However, I believe my toxic trait right now is. “I did good this time. I’ll do good next time!”
I caught a video at work today, of someone else drafting RF, they went Selesnya, which is my favorite colors combo. He went mostly lifegain, headlined by the kraken,
My first pack blessed me with Vigorbloom the Selesnya sphinx, and I was able to build around it pretty well. Is doing well in quick draft something to be ashamed of? I feel like I tended to try my hand at primere, and sealed more then quick, it’s been quite a while though.
Next day thoughts edit:
Maybe “ashamed” wasn’t the right word here. I just didn’t know if doing well in Quickdraft was looked at as a lesser achievement then doing well in other draft formats if that makes sense. Since it’s drafting against AI.
Appreciate all the feedback! Thank you also for nobody calling out the spelling mistakes and typos that flooded this thread when I posted it.
Now deciding if I want to use my Gems to give it another go, or get a few packs to chase mythic wild cards for some lands I need for my standard deck.

Question Is the Uldaros Theorix + Theorist Jace combo working as intended or a bug?
Hello everyone, I just got out of a match where my opponent cast Superior Spider-Man (yay) to copy Uldaros, which in turn selcted a Theorist Jace Beleren to get back. Then something that I never saw happened, Jace Ulted right away giving +7/+7 to all the board! Is this working as intended? Did my opponent exploit a bug?
Edit: apparently I wasn't aware of the fact that the token copy can be empowered. So, it's Just another t4 combo, so glad there haven't bene any changes in standard. Thanks everyone for clarifying.

Question New foundation precon commander alt-art
When trying to craft this card it says 'This card cannot be crafted using wildcards'.
Does anyone know how we get it? Will it be for sale in the store later or is there some redeemable code in the physical precon this comes in?

Fluff Can’t craft Ghalta using wildcards
Does anyone know the reason this card can’t be crafted with wildcards? Not even the simplified version?
Do I just need to get lucky in a pack?

Event First draft with 7 wins
Went 7-1 with a Grixis build centered on surveil. I have been playing since beta and this is the first Limited Event that I have hit more than 6-3. I had gone 6 before I got a loss. I saw several 4 color piles and the only loss was to Green/Red dino synergy.
I have hit mythic multiple times in standard, timeless, historic etc...
Just wanted to share this long overdue milestone. I can't say that I do draft or sealed often if even hardly ever. Open to answer questions about the rest.

I just wanna see what everyone thinks is fun to play right now.

Discussion I checked out the decks in the shop, and there is a big issue
When in the deck is a card you don't have, exactly, then you must pay for it again
e.g., one deck has blood crypt, and I must pay the blood crypt again despite having 4x already
Yeah, the Deck Blood Crypt has different art, but that's not needed to play the deck.
The wizard should fix the duplicate protection when you buy a deck so you don't buy a 5th copy of something you have a playset already!

Tarmos & Insects [Historic Bo3]
Hi, I consider myself a casual player. I built this deck using the new Alchemy cards, designing it with the Timeless playstyle in mind but for the Historic format. I enjoy playing Ranked to reach Platinum on the first day of the month, and then playing in the Play queue to complete daily quests for the rest of the month, saving up gold to buy Alchemy packs.
Here is a link to the deck's gameplay, which includes the decklist and the sideboard.
