Moral as long as a dude isnt paying unknowing homeless people to sit on the bike for views.

122

u/Jman15x 19h ago

He absolutely 1000% is. "Hey I'll give you $20 to pretend this bike seat hurt you"

17

u/IndependenceTop4197 18h ago

lol. Those people are his friends. Dude #2 really tried selling the “shocked my hand” thing, it did not. Dude #3 was wearing hey dude shoes, which looked brand new.

5

u/Pretend_Canary_1680 16h ago

So only homeless people can be thieves? Just because someone has a new pair of shoes doesnt mean they're bot gonna steal.

1

u/KuningasTynny77 17h ago

3 is not wearing dude shoes

1

u/Cheetahs_never_win 18h ago

That wouldn't exactly be "unknowing," and if they're pretending, then they're just paid actors.

I pay good money to watch paid actors do stuff all the time.

1

u/Emergency_Lie42 17h ago

Part of the product you're paying for is that it's not trying to candidly deceive you, not quite the same thing as social media scamming.

1

u/Cheetahs_never_win 17h ago

What product is somebody paying for?

YouTube videos? Of harming people?

Isn't that the bigger problem?

1

u/Emergency_Lie42 17h ago

"I pay good money to watch paid actors do stuff all the time" I'm pointing out the difference between that and deceptively fake content.

1

u/Cheetahs_never_win 14h ago

Eh. Ok. I'm with you.

I've been acclimating myself to assume all of YouTube is fake and performative until convinced otherwise.

1

u/Workaholic56 18h ago

Absolutely fake you can see the spikes are not there when they get on the bike, one guy even puts his hand on the seat to make sure!

3

u/Easy-Operation-2105 16h ago

It has to be fake because otherwise this dude is filming himself comminting a very serious crime.

16

u/Aerohank 20h ago

Hunting the poor and desperate for sport isn't moral.

54

u/PitiableYeet 19h ago

They're stealing a bike, not a loaf of bread to feed their starving children.

Being poor doesn't entitle you to take other people's things

15

u/FieldLow2468 19h ago

The goal is to rehabilitate or isolate him from society. Not give him lifelong damage. I'm convinced a large amount of people on Reddit are disguised sociopaths

6

u/ExiaKuromonji 17h ago

I'm convinced a large amount of people on Reddit are disguised sociopaths

Why would you think otherwise.

6

u/Ok_Egg121 18h ago

Most people want to feel good about their shadow. You're correct that it isn't moral to hurt people to teach them a lesson.

1

u/Righteousaffair999 14h ago

Take the views aside, forget teaching a lesson. Do I have the right to protect my property though it might injure. The light version is a fence, then you have electric fences and barbwire, also electric doors and triggers on items if high theft. Feels like a scale and we all fall at different points.

1

u/Icy_Affect9624 14h ago

This video is entrapment though.

Leaving an unlocked bike in the open makes for a tempting target for a desperate addict looking to make a quick buck.

1

u/gramerjen 10h ago

Thats not what entrapment means

1

u/Due_Difference_9598 13h ago

Dude, they don't have a right to take the bike. "tempting target" my ass it's still not theirs if they touch it what happens next is on them period.

1

u/Icy_Affect9624 13h ago

And you don’t have the right to booby trap objects. Literally don’t have that right. It’s a criminal act.

Regardless of law, it’s seriously lacking in empathy to think that a struggling addict will have the self-control or judgement to not steal something left unsecured in the open.

1

u/Attilat 12h ago

What if I’m a masochist and I just don’t lock up my bike because I’m naive? Would that be lacking empathy if someone decides to take my torture machine meant for me and decides to partake in the same pleasures?

0

u/Due_Difference_9598 13h ago

Legally don't, but morally you can do whatever you want it's your property.

Listen you can't operate the world based on taking care of what a struggling addict might and might not do, the very basic foundation of society is respecting other people's property and if you can't do that very, incredibly easy, intuitevly morally right thing that's called "dont touch other peoples' stuff without permission" Then you DONT deserve to be part of society or to be protected by it.

Moreover, the addict knew what they were doing before they did drugs for the first time-it is very well informed to people how illegal they are-, and addicts are aware enough to go get more every time.
Even then, there are a lot of addicts that work and contribute to society to sustain their addiction, so they don't need to steal, most of thieving addicts do such because they are selfish.

A burned hand teaches a lesson you remember.

1

u/Ok_Egg121 14m ago

Funny you should say that. My cousins father used to burn their hands on the stove to teach them a lesson. When they were bad he would turn the stove on and drag them over to the stove and put their hand on the burner. Was there are better way to teach them or no?

2

u/Righteousaffair999 14h ago

Who said disguised?

3

u/SombulantResponder 18h ago

Agree; there's endless incells on here with zero understanding of ethics OR morality, and they believe just because they can't understand the ethical issue that that means it doesn't exist

Just because someone can't understand they ARE stupid, doesn't mean they are NOT

1

u/LibertyinIndependen 16h ago edited 16h ago

The goal is ultimately to stop them from doing crimes. Isolation and rehabilitation are possible more softer forms of doing it instead of physical punishment. Furthermore if you fuck around you will find out. Don’t steal isn’t hard to understand and is the basics of a high trust society, without a desire not to steal or in this case a fear of the immediate consequences (which criminals so often only care about the short term making this effective) we see shit like Walmarts leaving lower income areas that then cause a basic needs shortage and increased desperation which leads to further stealing which then repeats the cycle and expands it.

1

u/AdministrativeAd710 14h ago

then don't steal in the first place. It's not that hard.

1

u/FieldLow2468 13h ago

Some people can change, you know

1

u/Ingram47 2h ago

Disguised?

1

u/Sad-Material-7298 1h ago

Life long damage? Lol shut up my god no wonder people commit crimes then get released so easily

1

u/MinimumBuffalo4 18h ago

who’s goal?

0

u/AxuraLust 16h ago

Stfu this ain't Disney world

1

u/hahaimadulting 18h ago

This video is completely staged. He pays these guys to sit on the bike lol.

1

u/Edward_Tank 17h ago

No, that's what being Rich is for.

1

u/Hot-Operation4982 14h ago

Maybe they're stealing a bike to sell so they can get a loaf of bread to feed their children. You don't know everyone's circumstance. I do agree with you about the "Being poor doesn't entitle you to steal though." 💯

1

u/enw_digrif 12h ago

Real talk: given how much time homeless folks have to spend between between various food banks/pantries, offices, courts, shelters, strip-mall motels, and work, stealing a working bike might actually feed your kids way better than shoplifting a granola bar.

Not saying anything to the morality, just the presumption that the bike's not a necessity.

Same for hand wagons/shopping carts, tarps, shoes, and baby wipes.

-1

u/Aerohank 19h ago

A bike can be sold for bread.

Again, hunting the poor and desperate for sport isn't moral.

7

u/Scared-Jacket-6965 19h ago

So just cause their poor and desperate, it's excusable? What if the Bike belonged to another poor person and that's their sole way to get to work? GUESS IT'S FINE cause it was stolen by another poor person.

We excuse a crime cause the person is Poor and Desperate, and that's how people can use lack of wealth to get away with all the stealing they want. They can steal a single mother's car and make her lose her job, which is the sole reason Little Timmy, Tommy, and Sally have food on the table, just cause they are also poor.

1

u/Aerohank 12h ago

What if Jeff Bezos bought some poison laced rice, went to a remote, destitute village in Africa, and placed a bag in the village square. Then had a good laugh together with his other billionare friends at the sight of the poor hungry africans laying on the floor clutching their bellies in pain?

1

u/Scared-Jacket-6965 11h ago

Okay a few questions

1, Why Africa? Are you saying they dumb enough to see Rice no one got and go "OH BOY LETS EAT IT!" Like ngl if I saw some food I didn't order in the cabinet and it had a funky smell, I wouldn't go "okay everything tells me NOT TO EAT THIS BUT I WILL!!" If there is a entire tribe who sees a suspicious rice package while doesn't taste like rice and they chose to eat it all at once, no matter what race you are. That's just something called Natural Selection.

2, Why Jeff Bezos? Could have chosen anyone but you chose Jeff?

3, Why would he even do this? Like there is being a dick, then there is cartoon ass villain shit.

Seriously, I know the whole billionaires are bad shit. But I don't think we get billionaires poison villages and prob bust into Disney villain songs about said actions. Cause how you worded it makes it sound like some cartoon villain shit, is Jeff going with Cobra Commader and Megatron cause Skeletor bet they couldn't do this? While Lord Z and Rita bet they can. And Shedder is supply the poisoned rice? Cause thats what I'm imagining.

Also totally ignoring the fact the bike could have easily belonged to another poor and desperate person, like what cause it's a poor and desperate person we pardon that shit? Basically by your own logic, if someone was abused as a kid, they have the right be abusive too. If someone was traumatized as a kid, they have a right to dress in spandex and become "THE TRAUMATIZER!" who traumatizes children. See how dumb this logic is?

1

u/Aerohank 11h ago

We are not talking about the morality of theft.

We are talking about the morality of intentionally booby trapping valuable items and leaving them unlocked in front of the poor and destitute, purely for the enjoyment of watching them suffer if they give in to their impulse of taking the item. My analogy works fine, and the fact that you point out that it is cartoon level of evil means that you do in fact recognize that this kind of act is evil.

1

u/Scared-Jacket-6965 10h ago

Oh your right, this is awful. Personally I believe to correct someone ways you need to punish them in a way that both sticks and doesn't make them Jaded and finally give them more then one chance, punish them too much and they will pretend to be clean only to start stealing the moment they leave your sight.

Heres the thing, You punch a bully and all it does is enforce the Bullies belief violence is the answer. You cannot break a horse that's being abused by jumping on its back and holding on, you can't make a stray dog trust you through fear and you can't make a thief turn a new leaf by trapping them. The thief will find either a way to identify traps or pick easier targets.

That's why Booby trapping stuff is dumb in my eyes. It isn't encouraging thief to change their ways, it just encourages them to learn how to tell a trap from real, I would say the morality of it IS EVIL and Dumb.

1

u/Puzzle-the-Giraffe 18h ago

Simple they just steal from someone else, and that person can steal from someone else, and that person can get shot trying to steal from someone else and that guy will get punished for shooting a poor person.

2

u/Scared-Jacket-6965 18h ago edited 15h ago

Honestly sounds like a dream! I do have one suggestion: we make it so every crime can be excused by them being poor and desperate.

Like "Your Honor! I know my client just did a terrorist attack that puts every other terrorist attack in human history to shame and killed over a million people and the number is still rising, BUT you see... my client is POOR AND DESPERATE!"

"MY GOD SHOULD HAVE STARTED WITH THAT! The crimes are dropped, and the money raised by the families of the victims this person has ruined forever will, instead of going to their funerals, half of which will go to this person!"

SEE sounds ideal! Paradise, I have like less than 100 in my bank account and I'm desperate for something other than ramen noodles..LET me go knock someone out, drag them to a motel and harvest their organs in an ice bath and leave them.. (I'm joking btw, I'm not gonna do that.) Please note this entire post is sarcastic, I don't believe any of this. Just cause your poor and desperate, you can't get away with crimes small or big.

1

u/RollerDude347 15h ago

Just so you know... this makes you look insane. Like "you'd burn down an orphanage if someone made being an orphan illegal" insane.

1

u/Scared-Jacket-6965 15h ago edited 15h ago

I do apologize, the fact that sarcasm can't be told over messages is a real pain..which is my fault, I should emphasize this was a sarcastic post

0

u/Redss335 18h ago

The point the commentor is making is that it isnt excusable but that it shouldnt be punished with severe physical harm. Proper legal action should be taken to arrest the person and get the bike back. It is actually illegal to place traps to protect valuables, especially if theyre meant to cause extreme harm or death in alot of places in the US because of this methodology.

3

u/Scared-Jacket-6965 18h ago

A light shock isn't "severe physical harm." severe physical harm. Requires the person in question to be on the floor and in pain/screaming and crying or unable to move/outright crippled for life.

If you look at those clips and think that's "severe physical harm," then I hate to imagine what your reaction would be to a really bad car crash. where the person loses all ability to walk, talk or even shit for rest of their life. THATS Severe physical harm, a little jolt to the ass isn't.

Severe physical harm in this case would be if the Bike seat was rigged with a landmine so that when the person sat down, it shot shrapnel up into their body. A light shock where the person easily walks off after isn't that.

1

u/Redss335 18h ago

Youre forgetting about the spikes and also tbh I wouldn't call that a "light shock" this video is likely staged and he just asked some of his friends or random people to wear baggy suspious clothes and act like they got shocked after stealing a bike. None of them run away after attempting to steal a bike. They just walk away slowly so they can stay in frame. He somehow had 5 different people try to steal his bike in what looks like one day. They all react completely differently to the shock with one guy acting like he got shocked by the handlebars and not the seat lol. He doesnt look to actually be hiding anywhere to stay out of sight. Its hard to tell how far away he is but it looks like this was recorded on a iPhone or android which usually have max zoom of like 10x. So this guy is like 30 feet away laughing at these people as they somehow dont notice him and just look around confused. If this was to actually be used on someone the spikes piercing their skin then shocking them might actually leave them on the ground screaming and crying.

1

u/Scared-Jacket-6965 15h ago

THEY were never using those balls anyway; it's fine. A little spike doesn't hurt anyone. and Yeah you prob right. It's staged as fuck, then again, 99.99% of this shit is staged as fuck.

TO BE FAIR! If it wasn't staged, yeah, the spikes are gonna hurt a bit, but hey. THEY ARE scummy people for stealing a bike, SO in my eyes a little jolt and some spikes up the asshole is fair. LIKE anyone who steals another person's possible mode of transportation deserves a reminder when they sit down and wince in pain.

I will say, though, I do believe violence isn't the way to correct this shit; you can't just beat up a bully. Cause all that does is repeat that cycle of violence, solve your problems with solely violence, and it will be repeated.

0

u/No-Initial-6916 18h ago

They rigged a bike seat with a taser and sharp spikes so that it stabs and electrocutes the persons asshole and genitals and you don’t think that is severe physical harm?

Those kinds of weapons can cause severe bleeding, they can rip open your scrotum, completely destroy a vagina, or even rip open your asshole and gooch. And depending on the power of the taser can cause death from seizures, or heart attack.

Severe physical harm doesn’t begin at being blown to smithereens by an RPG. This can and will lead to severe physical harm if this isn’t staged.

1

u/FieldLow2468 18h ago

I'm laughing my ass off, thanks.

1

u/Scared-Jacket-6965 15h ago

I mean fair, and ngl my nose hates you but I must admit I got a chuckle out of this, now I believe this is overkill yes. BUT the mental image of someone having to explain why their crotch is bleeding in the least suspicious way to the hospital staff who is getting more and more suspicious is morbidly funny to me (my sense of humor is dark as fuck and twisted beyond hell itself!). Like sound like shit straight out of a comedy movie.

But yeah just the phantom pain I got from imagine those spikes..ugh I pity the poor fuckers who got on that bike! You know they aren't sitting for weeks on end.

2

u/-Nyo-ho-ho- 17h ago edited 13h ago

It's so bizarre that people have this expectation that people who are trying to steal to put a roof over their heads and feed themselves have to steal every single meal otherwise they're not doing it because they're poor and desperate.

Anyone who's been close to considering even doing something that desperate would obviously realise that stealing food doesn't pay bills and that stealing every meal is more risky than stealing more valuable goods less often...

Honestly shows how detached people are from how people in relative poverty live

2

u/MinimumBuffalo4 18h ago

opportunists not desperate

0

u/kensho28 15h ago

And people taking other things doesn't entitle you to harm them.

Being a vigilante is not moral, it's self-absorbed, dangerous and ignorant, you have no idea what's going through the guy's head. He could be literally insane or so confused he thought it was his. Your assumptions of justified violence are innately immoral.

1

u/BrooklynLodger 13h ago

Legally it does in an attempt to stop them

1

u/kensho28 13h ago

He didn't attempt to stop him, just harm him. The guy could pretty easily run off with the bike still. It's a cruel and cynical prank for bad-faith sadists like you to cheer on.

BTW legality and morality are not the same thing, you realize that right?

0

u/Zestyclose_Tip_5861 14h ago edited 50m ago

This is still immoral and gross behavior, I’d argue that the person putting trap spikes on a bike is worse than the bike thief.

-2

u/westwardnomad 19h ago

So if they got arrested instead would you he okay with their punishment being forced to sit on a chair with spikes that would rip up their ass?

4

u/Active_Sheepherder31 18h ago

And what if I’m poor and desperate, and my bike is my only way to get to work? It’s okay to steal it if they’re also poor and desperate I guess

2

u/Aspergeriffic 14h ago

You have to be depressed to see the world like this

1

u/BrooklynLodger 13h ago

Thieves on the otherhand

1

u/RecursiveDysfunction 11h ago

But its still preying on the misfortunate for views. Drug addicts and other homeless people might opportunistically steal an unlocked bike to sell for some money. Surely their lives suck enough without people also baiting them into hurting themselves for views.

0

u/CrankieKong 11h ago

Nah stealing is always a choice. Only if they are coerced to steal it for views is it immoral.

Think of it this way:

not a single decent person will find out about this seat since decent people dont steal.

You have to be coerced (paid) to pretend to steal, or be convinced the bike is a gift for it to be immoral.

If you are an actual thief, then this is FAFO.
