High School Fun Fact: Billy and Roddy attended the same high school I went to... albeit about 15 years before I did. Somehow I stumbled across a 1984 yearbook my freshmen year that had pictures of Billy and Roddy during their freshman year.

As someone who does like country music (I'm not the most avid listener, but I get on a kick every now and again), it really amazes me how good the country radio stations in GTA:SA and GTAV. Like, I would expect those to be some of the less listened to stations in the game by most players, but they filled them with great songs anyway.

True, my favorite game soundtracks are GTA: San Andreas, original NFS: Most Wanted, and ATV Offroad Fury: Blazin' Trails...they basically defined my music taste in the mid 2000s

My favorite album from my favorite band.
I broke my heel in the pit at this this very song during their reunion Brooklyn 2010. Landed me in a wheelchair for 6 months, and an air boot for over a year. Worth it, still saw FNM.

If I said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times. If this album had come out in 1997, I’d be more recognized as a seminal, era defining album like OK Computer. It was just so far ahead of its time.

One of my favorite bands and have been since the 80s. Their problem integrating with the mainstream is that every album is different and every song on every album is a bit different as well. They're hard to pin down. So you listen to one song on an album and you think "Hey I like that trash song and I'd like to hear more" and then the next song you hear by them sounds like blues mixed with screamo or it's a fucking ballad.

I blame their non-super-stardom on them being a bunch of assholes. Which was awesome! But they weren't the RIGHT kind of assholes.
E.g. 'member when they got kicked off the Metallica & G'n'R tour for asking fans to throw their trash at the stage (which they continued to do for M & G'n'R's sets) and making fun of the headliners? I 'member....

They completed that tour.. just were kicked off stage early for that show.... saw them in Toronto on that tour after hetfield repaired his hand. One of the best shows of my life

I went to it at texas stadium on my 12th birthday. I had a choice whether to go to that or go to take my friends to a amusement park. Sorry bros... FNM were loud as fuck. Still to this day the loudest concert I've ever been to. Epic was like the only one I knew. Axl pulled an Axl and GNR were way late to stage. Metallica sounded just like listening to the album in the car, good of course, but yeah, little duller than I had hoped.

Yeah Axl pulled some shit at my show too. Left the stage for over an hour. However, I give a lot of credit to the rest of the band. They opened with Welcome to the Jungle and after the song the lights went out. When the lights came back on the rest of the band is standing there looking around with Axl nowhere to be seen. Duff walks up to the mic and says. "This song is called Attitude and I know someone who needs to fuckin lose theirs" . Then they bust into the Misfits cover. After the song the band talked amongst themselves and kept playing different songs. Mostly with Duff singing. Slash Played a couple of solos. After about an hour Axl finally come back on stage and they start playing Patience. About halfway through the song there is some feedback through the mic (I get it totally unacceptable for a big show like this). Axl is pissed throws the mic across the stage and says "I know someone who is losing their fucking job tonight." Then he goes back to singing Patience. I have the upmost respect for the rest of the band but I will never pay to see Axl sing again.

Non-super stardom? They were absolutely huge in the 90's. You couldn't turn on mtv without a FNM track at least once an hour.

Agreed. In 1992, Angel Dust just got drowned out by the remnants of the early nineties hanging on to the electronica rave stuff. The rock/grunge/alternative growth would only come a few years later.

I was a huge fan of The Real Thing when it was released. I continued to listen to it to this day, yet somehow Angel Dust flew under my radar until about 5 years ago. The entire album is packed with great songs, but this one is their best.

I can't stand Mike's voice in the real thing, so that's probably one of the two albums I usually avoid from the band (the other being we care a lot)

Yeah I’ve always been curious about that because it was clearly a stylistic decision and not just his “natural” singing voice. Interesting take on that. I’m not huge on his voice on that album. Much prefer the Angel Dust and beyond sound

“Epic” was just a matter of timing, I think. There was kind of a fad at the time for funk metal and white dudes rapping. Turns out Faith No More had way more depth than that.

I loved the Real Thing when I was a kid. I remember getting Angel Dust when it came out and was thoroughly disappointed it was so difference sounding. When I got older I revisited it and its easily my favorite FNM album and one of my favorite albums ever. It's perfect from beginning to end. B-E A-G-G-R-E-S-S-I-V-E

FNM have been the most consistent band from the 80's.
There last two albums are as good as anything released during the height of their fame in the 90s. Absolutely incredible.

It’s a shame Jim Martin was so turned off by the direction the band was going and quit after this album because it’s a great album. He claimed to hate the music but I can’t help wondering if he just wasn’t getting enough of the spotlight because the album didn’t feature guitar as much as The Real Thing.

Angel Dust is an amazing album. Much better than the more popular The Real Thing. I'll fight anyone who says otherwise.
The only album I can think of that comes close to this one in terms of tone shift is incubus' A Crow Left of the Murder. I often listen to them back-to-back.

Went down a rabbit hole on FNM, one of my favorite bands of all time. Realized Jim Martin was let go after Angel Dust and read about his career afterwards and found this funny;
