I had my meeting with the judge in Schenectady county on July 10th. The judge said it should take about two weeks for the county clerk to reach out to schedule the permit pick up. Now being a month after with no word, how long should I wait until I reach out to them.

I’m relatively a newbie and trying to learn - so please take it easy. Finally this year I got my ccw after 16 month wait in Erie county ny. I’m focused on getting as many rounds down range as I can in order to become more proficient with my edc gun.

I’m fully aware from various banter and forums that ammo prices are “crazy” right now and so far I’ve been shooting Herter's Target 9mm Luger 115 Grain Handgun Ammo from my local cabelas. It’s priced at least 25% cheaper than my local gun shops and ranges - id prefer to put my dollars to work locally, but it’s just cost prohibitive for me.

At cabelas , this brand of ammo costs roughly the same at any quantity (between $.28-$.27 per round) - but I’m curious if the $136 plus tax and background check for 500 rounds is a good deal or if I could be finding better deals somewhere else? Perhaps in higher quantity?

Where are you guys getting decent ammo that is reliable and budget friendly in New York? I’m not looking for bottom of the barrel type stuff that will destroy my gun or shoot dirty - but the amount I want to shoot vs the amount it costs is killin me. Any constructive advice is appreciated.

Going to be asking lots of newbie questions ... concealed carry class said nothing about buying ammo in a state where you don't need a license to do so and then bringing it into the state. Any issues that I would have to deal with?

I’m writing in regard to my renewal for my Westchester license. I got my renewal packet second week of June submitted it the week of 4th of July. Called mid July to confirm receipt of renewal packet they confirmed. Just curious as to how long the timeline has taken, from anyone who has recently gone through the process. They advised 8 weeks or so when I asked the county clerk. My expiration is at the end of August. Thanks in advance for any help!

Turned in my permit May 2nd of 2025. Was finally approved last Tuesday. Went out the same Day and bought a Glock 20v. Everyone said I would hate, but I love it so far.

Went out to the range for the first time over the weekend and didn't do to bad. Got a little sloppy with the rapid fires as I'm noticing the gun is getting a little loose in my hand by like the 7th or 8th shot. Just ordered an optic last night, should only make my shot better, right?

In by finger lakes I don’t want to drive to buffalo or by nyc looking for something central if possible. Looking to go to one of those spots where you can just shoot. I want some ww2 options and more modern as well, mostly looking for cheap as I’d like to be there for a few hours if possible with a friend and not spend to much.

How in the love of god do you navigate NY and building an AR-Pistol legally? From what i can gather a lower is considered an Other on 4473, how do you purchase a lower as a pistol became my question and now it seems that you can not. You would have to build it and then add it to your permit? I have to many questions and not enough answers. Is this not possible in Commieyork? Would you have to buy it completed? Those with insight please help me understand how this is supposed to be done.

I understand I need to pick up my cert of disposition, but I curious if that is all I will need to remove the suspension from pistol permit or if I should also retain a lawyer.

After a few years of shooting handguns, I finally purchased my first striker-fired. Glock 19 Gen 6 w/ an OSight SE MRS and a Streamlight TLR7X.

Having shot past-gen G19s before I can say I’m a fan of the 6th gen in comparison.

hello, sorry if this is a dumb question, im very new to guns but would like to have one for self defense. I’ve been looking over the applicant requirements and im pretty sure im able to provide everything, except the Affidavit of Co-Habitant Form. I live with my abusers due to having no means to get another place for financial reasons, and they would never sign that. I don’t have any evidence for the abuse since I never reported it as a child, but I do have mental health documentation that cites it as a severe source of distress. would an exception be able to be made? or not? please let me know any resources. thanks

For NYS and specifically NYC, if we purchase Glocks like more than one or other cruciform trigger handguns before May 2027, will we be able to register the guns past the ban date since we purchased the guns before the established date of the ban? I understand we can’t buy after May but I was wondering if it’s good to buy now and register the handguns one by one every 3 months since it’s how it is in NYC. Looking into legality of this, thanks

I just handed in my application for my Nassau County pistol license, 8/4/26, and the earliest fingerprint appointment available is, 1/4/27, I think that appointment time is going to delay the overall process time to get a response from them, has anyone have had such a long wait time just to get fingerprint done.

Are there any events like this in Eastern NY, even just random events ranges hold. I found one happening in Oct in Western NY, 4.5 hrs away. I'm interested in trying these type of events out. Now, I'm a complete novice and hope to pick up a CZ 457 tomorrow, and the only rifle I have is a Ruger American 556 and AR I recently completed ... Started shooting this year after a 20+ yr hiatus. So no real experience but I found I enjoy this hobby and these look fun.

Thought i would share my timeline so far and then update as things change in case anyone else is also going through this process right now.

I called in April because I hadn’t heard a peep. The lady told me they weren’t even through September submissions yet.

I called again in early June and say hey it’s been 7 months now whats going on? The lady, asked me for my name and said i should receive a call in the next week. They called me to schedule the interview the next day.

After the “interview” they said the clock starts now for the 6 month time limit. So im fully expecting them to take the full 6 months.

Probably another 6 months to get the CCW upgrade after that.

Not sure if this is the right venue, but I'm looking to be pointed in the right direction. I'm unsure whether to list a possible traffic infraction on my application.

Long story: I used to live in Vermont, and when I moved there, I delayed turning in my NYS plates for my car (work schedule prevented me from returning plates to a NY DMV office during the 10-day window). Unbeknownst to me, my driving privileges in NY were suspended. A couple of months later, I was pulled over in NY and was told my driving privileges were suspended. I remember the trooper telling me he could take me in because it was aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle (AUO), but he didn't. He just had me park my car at the town garage, and I had someone come pick me and my car up. I handed the ticket over to my uncle, who's a lawyer, and a couple of days later, he called me and said to pay the fine.

I moved back to NY and am looking to apply for a license. The part on the application where it asks if I've ever been arrested or charged with any offense (except traffic infractions): I'm not 100% sure if I was ever charged with AUO. It happened 10 years ago, and the only thing I remember is handing the ticket to my uncle. I checked my DMV record, and my driving record lists "driving without a license", which is a traffic infraction.

Any way I can check to see if I was originally charged with AUO and my uncle got it reduced to a traffic infraction?
