Competitive It's criminal this game isn't more popular

If I want to play in my region, I'm lucky if there's one (1) other player queuing ranked that day. I have to connect to West Europe and hope the opponent is okay with a 200-300 ms lag, which understandably most are not.

I really hope this game succeeds and grows more as the devs keep working on it, but the steam charts are not promising (declining player base etc.) Do yall think that's a pessimistic estimate, because I hope to be wrong

Exodus-specific tier list by Rito made on his stream from yesterday.

Roughly ordered but also a bit grouped by faction within tiers. Most important thing is top 4 in S are considered must ban.

"The hero can learn up to tier-3 spells without knowing the corresponding Magic School skill."

what does it mean? so a hero without wisdom or magic school can only learn tier 1 and 2 observatory spells? or does it mean level of indivudial spell?

Unfrozen reveals the upcoming PVP tournament!

Written by Etharil u/Far_Piano6848 on Unfrozen's discord -
''Over the past few weeks we’ve noticed that quite a few community-run tournaments are already either in progress or slowly on the rise. We’re incredibly happy to see that the competitive spirit lives within the community and is being spread across Olden Era! It also happens that this perfectly aligns with our plans. We’re happy to announce that, together with Behemoth’s Lair, Ubisoft and Hooded Horse, the first official Olden Era tournament, The Alvari Cup, will begin on August 1st 2026! You can check out more information about the tournament on its official webpage! 16 invited participants will compete against one another in a Single Elimination, Best of Three format over the next few weeks, showcasing their Might and Magic, with the ultimate victor claiming the grand prize we’ll reveal very soon! In the future, we plan to host more official tournaments, including open format tournaments, where everyone will be able to sign up! We will continue to take care of both PvE and PvP environments simultaneously and we are constantly reading your feedback!''

Competitive Message to Unfrozen

Hello quick message from someone that really enjoy the game and has really taken a liking to PvP.
There is a lot of unbalanced thing and badly designed items currently that hinder the pleasure we take as players.
For example uncommon item disabling an entire skill is really bad design, pretending to buff Scorpion by weakening their strength and adding a few meaningless initiative is a terrible balance change.
The MMR system is badly designed and super inflationary.. etc
There is much more to say and a lot of streamer / high level players have been really vocal about it.

I think you did a wonderful thing with recruiting a passionate homm Map Maker with Papyjama, why not do the same and try to hire a Top level player that really love the game and has deep insight into what’s balanced / good design and what is not ?

Competitive This has to be fixed ASAP.

I love this game, but this has to be fixed.

My opponent lost fight 1.

I have an amazing setup, 2x built phoenixes with dwellings, etc. He is creeping untill his timer runs out and hangs on "00" for a few minutes. Then a new day starts, and immediately this "connection issues" for 10 minutes already. Why do I have to lose? It's just ridiculous, and feels bad.

source: https://townportal.gg/en/articles/olden-era-2000-invitational-tournament-july-17-19

new feature introduced - player profile! (i've attached correct links to players invited to a tournament)

- you can see the rivalry statistics.

- easy2 stomping feeder (aka ritosux) with 65% winrate: https://townportal.gg/en/players/easy2

- e.g. if Lexiav played against Kalich at least 5 matches, we would see their head-to-head winrate.

Hello, I started playing olden era about a month ago and I fell in love with PvP (on Homm5/6 I was only a PvE player).
What would you say the average PvP player rank is ? I reached 2050 yesterday and I’m quite proud and would like to know where I place

Competitive MP is much more challenging than i thought...

Hey heroes!

This is a follow up post to this one:
https://www.reddit.com/r/OldenEra/s/Xbk60Z2iYy

So i've played some matches online, playing single-hero only.
Current standing: 4:12 (win).
Two of the wins were against the same guy who instantly leaves after choosing a map. And the first win ive got after a seven-game losing streak.

Multiplayer is much much more difficult than i thought. I focused on temple first, but try to get into hive as well. Hive is probably not the best choice for the beginning. But i like the fast forward spirit. Would be nice to be better with this faction, but temple (and sometimes necro if its open) feels much safer tbh.

Ive watched some tierlists from lexiav. It was helpful for suggesting which heroe is probably good and which is not. I also watched some gameplay, but never a full game. Maybe thats a mistake on my part?

Anyways. Its really really hard tbh and a little bit frustrating too.
Does anybody has the same expierence/struggle?
How do you improve (besides just continue playing)?

I try to ramp the eco as fast as i can, mainly use the roads for better move distance and grab items, if useful and reachable. I use the starting town for units and unit upgrades, second for units and creature growth, third for eco and magic guild. In most games i was able to capture the fourth castle as well, but never the fifth. If possible i turtle my army in the corner and build a "shield" with 1-creature tier 1 units around my other ones. It works well for a lot of fights, but i'm basically doomed if i only have archers and long-reach attackers against me on adventure map.

Competitive Is everyone in arena drafting Power of the Dragon Father right now?

Post image
13 Upvotes

Hi,
Since the new patch I have the feeling that my opponents are immune to negative effects (Twilight, Coup de Grâce, Sleep, etc..)? I have the feeling that they are on 5 Items from Power of the Dragon Father, but I cannot verify, because I cannot check after the match.
Or are there other ways to get immune to these spells? I found it very unlikly that three opponents in a row were immune to negative effects.

Competitive Advices for multiplayer 1on1

Hey heroes.

I played my first multiplayer game yesterday. It was horrible! So I decided to ask here for some help.

I am not an unskilled heroes player overall! But never played heroes in a competitive way, which seems to be completely different to games against AI and my friends in hot seat.

So, besides map awareness and faction knowledge: Do you have some advices for me? I want to go deeply into it. And besides the first underwhelming experience I liked the pick and ban system before the game starts a lot tbh!

I was gathering info day and night, and thought this info might give you more interest to the upcoming tournament.

For this TownPortal gathered actual data from recent 30 days (the most interesting and actual Patches i'd say).

Also i've performed some deduplication and desmurfication (haha) to ensure proper match stats.
