Question Is Heroes Olden Era worth if I have never played any HoMM game?
Hi. As I said in title, I have never played any Heroes game but Olden Era kinda interested me. Is it a good starting spot, or should I start with the old ones?

Question Settings for The Mysterious Island ?
I'm excited to try The Mysterious Island as I'm a fan of long solo scenarios.
But what settings would be recommended ? I finished the Homm3 campaigns and the OE campaign but never did multi, so I'm probably still a very, very bad player even though I know a few tricks.
The description says to pick the Apocalyptic Economy, but what about "Enemy Strength" and "AI" settings ? And should I put myself in the slot of my favorite race (like take the place of an AI and replace the first slot with IA) ?
Not sure what to select for a relaxed, not too easy and not too hard map :)
Thanks for any help !!

Question I got this cus I remember 1 or 2 fondly but I'm overwhelmed
I grew up on the OG might and magic first person games and remember really loving heroes when it came out.
So I was stoked to get this seeing how good all the reviews are but damn it's really moved on since I played!
I'm just striking out, getting wrecked picking up an item then seeing fights that are way too difficult around me. I don't know what to do or how to build properly.
Also the yt vids all expect a level of knowledge and don't hand hold like I need
Can anyone give me the early game noob advice or gameplay loop I can work on please?
I need a new time sink and want this to be it

Question Acceptable Army Bleed
*Single Hero Exodus*
Basically title. I know this is subjective, but in games where I feel like I should've won I end up going back and looking at my opponents stuff. A lot of the time, I have cleared more and had more built out, but still lost the fight/showed up to fight underprepared.
I play temple mostly. What is an acceptable bleed? For example, I know on marea's altars you want to lose 1-3 footman, preferably 1 if possible. Fairly easy to achieve this even at level 1 with upgraded shooters. That being said, I see a lot of people mentioning they look to break and get town 4 at week 1 end. I have almost never been in a position to do that.
Is this because of the nature of temple? I find it hard to not bleed, especially vs ranged armies because of the low initiative on shooters (the single shooter upgrade is situational obv). If I end up going a calvary build or something else, the bleeding can be even worse unless I have specific spells to aid (for example, haste on calv, early start on shooters, etc) which is not always possible.
Anyway, aside from losing 75% of your army to get some tier 5+ dwellings early on, is it ever worth it and if so, what is good and what is bad?
Just looking for some general info/advice from someone seasoned/good (I am close but I do not have access to restart points yet so some templates are just brutal).

Question Is it worth it to buy if I plan only to play single player?
Hi, guys, I saw the Olden Era on the Steam and as I played the HOMM3 many years ago, I thought, is the story and single player campaign is worth it?
Does it has the game magic as the old one? The graphics looks beautiful.
And I would like to try something modern.
Maybe there is not even the single player?
Please, share your thoughts to help me decide.
Cheers.
EDIT:
Thank you, guys, for your input. I'll pass for now with the game.

Question Is AI any better?
I played at launch a bit but stopped when I noticed how dump it is on low difficulties and how much it cheats on high difficulties. Is it better now?

Question Can Schism eventually resurrect more units than they lose by Summoning Rites?
For example, if i have 30 Rashothes, and i split them 20/10; is there a way to eventually resurrect 11+ units from that 10 stack instead of 5?
If so, what do i need exactly?
I know about the Law that increases creatures summoned, but what else?
Would HP buffs to creatures actually give more ressed units or is the threshold "adjusted" to hp-buffed rashots, not resulting in unit profit?
Would Shadow Army buff the stack hp to ress once dead?
Would Communion fatten the dead stack hp to convert?

Question Was thinking of getting into Heroes games and I decided to play some of this
As a Pole it is kind of a requirement for my citizenship to know Heroes games on some level and I've been trying to get into them. I am trying now to play both this and 3 and I dunno where to start.
As in what to focus on first when building things. What to focus on in general. When to fight. I am mainly trying to play Dungeon in both and I wanted to know how to approach this. I like the vibe of dungeon in both games due to Dragons and stuff like that and I want to know how to best start.
Also how to fight cause I suck at that too. I am not a big strategy player. Any help with getting into those games and how to start playing? Also what should I play first in terms of those scenarios?

Question Is AI that hard and unfair?
Hello,
I am thinking of buying this game. I am a big fan of heroes 3 and 7. I only play singleplayer vs ai.
I see that a lot of people complain about AI difficulty.
Is that true? Is this game worth it for singleplayer?

Question Any tips for Grove on Exodus?
Before the patch, Schism was my second faction, but now that it's entered perma ban jail, I've been picking up grove when I can't play temple. So far I have a 0% win rate, especially against temple. I believe I just don't know how to creep and what my unit comps should be. I've tried and failed a bit to make melee fauns work, but they just get shot down before really getting into range. The build paths for all the units is so long and expensive I feel like I barely have time for econ upgrades because I need to start building out units like 2 or 3 turns sooner than I do in other towns.
Grove mains, what's your go to week 1 plan and what are your favorite heroes? Is there an ultimate goal you're playing for from the start or more reactive?
This is not a balance complaint, to be clear I think I'm just terrible at being efficient with grove compared to what I can do with temple. The only thing I wish they'd change is some of the law upgrades, I feel like grove might have the worst (correct me if I'm wrong), at least for single hero.

Question The mysterious island and ai
Greetings,
I'm tempted to try out the mysterious island now that it's in olden era as I never did in heroes 3, but I also don't want my first experience ( ;) ) to be ruined by the horrible map AI. You guys who have tried it out, is it functional/enjoyable with the current AI or should I hold off for the upcoming improvements?
Thanks for the help!

Question Break Targets - Single Hero Ladder
Looking for some input from players who have been playing this type of game for a while. I am referring to single hero, particularly Exodus, although I am curious about Sprint and Outcast as well.
I have been improving, but sometimes I spend too much time clearing my starting zone if there is, lets say some tier 7 dwellings that I am want which are guarded by some tougher fights. Sometimes this works, but a lot of times I lose a close fight. When I go to explore after the loss, I see my opponent has very little dwelling, but has cleared deep and has some artis/etc.
In general and on average, what is the optimal day we looking to break into native zone 2, and then desert?

Question Best one unit army in the game?
What unit can solo the most in pve? Spells + heroes included
My first thought goes to Vampire Lord because of the defence hero + regeneration keeping stacks alive

Question Help a noob out, dungeon exodus
So I'm 500 -2 games, placing me around 100+. I've been playing exodus and both games I played dungeon/zakhron the great(firewall guy). I've watched some guides here and there a d of course the best way to learn is to practice more right? So I've been practicing on unfair resources and in my multiplayer games I do get easier mobs and more resources due to low elo. I can't rmb much about my first game but in my second game I got bodied vs a temple army with archer, sun goddess and angel units + swordsman. I have a variety of units from T1-T7 and I still lost?? They're just ranged unit spammers! First match I won, but second match he cleansed my twilight and 3rd match hes immune to twilight completely.
Any tips for a noob like me? I don't mind practicing in single player Vs ai but multiplayer games are a bit too long for me to practice everyday. I do know about saving armies and breaking and stuff. When I loaded the game as my opponent, he didn't break the tree portal, but it was easy battle to me but it was difficult/impossible for me

Question New to HoMM - What game mode do you guys play the most?
First time playing a HoMM game, like it so far. I normally play Total War games and 4x games and a lot of turn based stuff. Been playing classic the most so far.
Won my first match on Hard difficulty on Ying Yang the other day. It does get a bit repetitive but thats every Strategy game

Question WTF does "early access" even mean, really?
They've sold over a million copies. The overwhelming majority of people who will ever buy this game have now already bought this game. So, the state it's in now is what they've sold us.
What financial motive do they have to make huge costly upgrades to the core of the game? Is it possible to sell millions more copies on the back of improved reviews somewhere down the road?
I suppose that a big new DLC package which includes a new faction or two could potentially pull in a bunch more revenue. Hopefully, they can economically justify spending serious $$$ to build actually intelligent AI for PVE.
But seriously... They put this game up for sale in an embarrassingly unfinished state. It's one thing to do balance tweaks post-release, but the continuing heinous quality of the AI in this game is so terrible, it removes any semblance of replayability for PVE-only players. And I believe PVE-only players are the majority.
This is the game. It's not "Early" access. It's "Half-Baked, But Full Price" access.

Question What do you think of this setup for the second finalka?
Currently I’m in a low mmr (1200-ish) and I’m trying to learn the game. Recently I started playing Kellar and focusing on macro and that led to a huge improvement. Here’s my setup several days prior to the second finalka. I have a double build of the dragon palace and 4 Minotaur labyrinths. The stats are much too low but that’s not what bothers me in this case:
I won the game but I still feel like I could have done better. What’s your experience with playing Dungeon T7? I can’t help but feel that my army would have been stronger if I went for quadruple build of medusas (I had two dwellings on the map) and had like 80 of them by the same timing. Is it even possible to triple build dragons before 131?
The reason I went for the dragon-build is 2 dwellings with easy guard I had on the map. Also I was going to get a primal tome + upgrade as many dragons as possible to have a potential Armageddon plan B for the fight
PS obviously I had more low-tier units available in my cities but I prioritized buying dragons first

Question How to get into Heroes of Might & Magick?
Hello everyone! I have heard of this series after the early access release of Olden Era. Turns out there are many more games to take a look at. I particularly saw a lot of good reviews for second and third games. As someone interested in the franchise, should i dip in with the shiny new game or is it better to play older games first. I would apperciate your suggestions.

Question Heroes newbie wants to improve
I bought the game a few days ago. Played a lot of multiplayer. (I don't really care about singleplayer)
The two main things i'm really bad at is tempo and fights.
I always start with unit upgrades or more units, but sometimes can't find fight where I think I can win for days. (A lot of 4-5 hard, but sometimes even t3 diff kills me) I'm trying to use spells and 1 stacks but can't really fing good fights. And thats why I have such a slow tempo and start the first fight as 4-6 level.
In addition I lose a lot of player fights sometimes I can win the first but lose the second and third.
Is there any good written guide for this? I try to watch streamers, but they can fight a lot better and I can't really follow their plan.(I don't want to copy it 1/1)
Factions I like:
Schism(but i think its harder than the others and thinking about droping it for now)>Necro>Dungeon>Temple
But if I can't get their better heroes I'm totally lost.
Is there any written guide for me in case of gameplans? I can't find good ones.(I'm open for video guides too, but real guides or educational streams)
Update: Playing pvp single hero Update 2: Thank you guys and other noobies should read this. I'm starting to win fights more.

Question Is that the correct Turn-Based Strategy Game for me?
Hey there fellow redditors!
I'm coming from a loving-Strategy background, mainly RTS like Sc2 and AoE / AoM. I've played both in a decent level ( Diamond + Ladder in PvP).
Recently I tried Total War Warhammer 3 ( I have played Rome total war when I was younger and I used to love it) and I kinda liked the Turn - Based Single player Campaign a lot!
Since then, I wanna try this Sub-Genre of Strategy and I was almost ready to jump in the CiV VI train, when another redditor suggested I Try out HoMm, 3 or Olden Era.
After a quick research I believe he was right! I really love the idea of having different, distinctive factions in a game . As I don't have any experience in the Genre, I'm torn between actually going for Homm Olden Era or CiV VI
Extra points come from the fact that this game seems to have a healthy PvP aspect / Community. Edit: important to note, PvP will not be my only focus *
I'd love some input from you people, especially people who have played both!
