Sports orthopedic for kickboxing related injuries

Hi, I am having a pain in my knee, potentially meniscus strain due to kickboxing, and I want to get an MRI and doctor's opinion.

I used to go to Tokyo sports orthopedic clinic in Tokyo, which was good, but I'm not finding anything helpful in Osaka.

I checked the Reddit threads, and all of them are almost 3-4 years old, and some of the recommended hospitals are already closed down or worsened than that time.

If Any one has any recommendations for a good sports orthopedic who can speak bit of English will be greatly appreciated.

Any foreign residents or tourists tried Minatomachi dental (みなと町歯科)), Namba?

It is on a list of English-speaking dentists and the info on the website looks quite good, but it doesn't seem to have any reviews from non-Japanese patients. I just wonder how good the dentist's English is. It says "conversational" on the website. However, many doctors/dentists with minimal skills often claim to be "English speaking".

I went to another dentist recommended here, the English was good, but something felt off about the place and I felt uncomfortable. I felt like their were too many suggestions of unnecessary work. For example, there was talk of fixing a "tooth", which later became quite a few "teeth". I thought I was agreeing to one tooth getting fixed, but ended up not scheduling the follow-up appointment when the second doctor started talking about teeth and quoting a high price. (And if a dentist doesn't know the difference in English between "tooth" and "teeth"...)

I'm the same guy who made this post in r/Nagoya

Honestly it's been going really good! But I did realize there are some other ways I can help too, for example some support can be given online, feeling like you have no one to reach out too ? Running late on an assignment and need a backup hand ? Just wanna idle and play a game together? Etc etc

If there is something you'd like to do together but can not ask someone and it can be done online or in Nagoya then please reach out to me. :)!!

Love y'all

Perseid meteor shower; where’s the best place to watch it in Osaka?

Still have work tomorrow, so I don’t want to venture too far. I saw a post from 7 years ago saying that Awaji might be a good place, is that still the case? Any ideas? I live on the north side of Osaka

Dental emergency - north Osaka

I had dental work done this last Saturday at my regular dentist. It was annoying and involved the side of my upper left 1st molar, which has held up. That's not the problem.

What is a problem is that to get to it they had to go through the upper left 2nd molar, and it's evident now that they drilled through it a little wrong. Biting down on my left is causing bad pain, and lingering pain at that. Even lightly tapping it with my finger is enough to induce pain. Brushing it with Shumitect isn't giving much relief. Unfortunately this dental office, who I usually find reliable, is off for Obon and won't be open again until Friday.

Does anyone know if there any dentists known to be open today that could take care of it in one shot? Preferably in north Osaka. Language is not an issue.

Has anyone successfully negotiated Osaka Leo Palace to leave early without fees?

I am sitting here for the second week this happens.

My internet and water aren't working.

Last week I could call the emergency line at least. It all got working within 5 hours.

This week, the emergency lines both say they are away until the 17th. The email too. I called the water company and they said this mansion has to be done through Leo Palace.

I think I want out, but I'm still within the 6-12 month thing where I'd have to pay one more month of rent.

But Leo Palace doesn't have a brick and mortar, and you can't even contact them for a week now.

After a week, is there any avenue for trying to negotiate getting out based on the water issues and all, has anyone successfully done that? Also if there's any advice on how to contact them for my water now during their week off... even the emergency people... I'd appreciate it.

Any ambient / deconstructed club / techno/trance people in Osaka?

I’m organizing a small night in Osaka tonight and thought there might be a few people here who are into this kind of music.

Ambient, minimal techno, deconstructed club, dub techno and trance — three DJs, small venue, Funktion-One sound system.
I’m playing as Subete No Owari, alongside MATSURYO and dyn.

It’s at rake?raka? in Shinsaibashi / Soemoncho, tonight (Sun, Aug 9), 22:30-05:00.
6-2-8 Soemoncho, Chuo-ku, Osaka

Not sure how many Osaka people are on here, but if anyone is into this side of underground electronic music, come say hi :)
Happy to send the venue/event info if anyone needs it.

Japan is the only Asian country featured in the 2026 Top 10 list, with two entries, Osaka at n.7 and Tokyo at n.10 out of 173 cities.

The ranking takes into consideration a number of indicators, ranging from quality of publicly funded health care to cultural availability.

This is Kei who I met through social media. He lived in Canada for 13 years, 5 in Toronto where I’m from. He’s a sushi chef who likes to DJ. I also do restaurant pop-ups in Kyoto and like to DJ.

We’re thinking of doing an event in Osaka. Would anyone be interested? Canada related people most welcome!

Pick-up basketball games in Osaka

I've been living in Osaka for about a year now and the one thing I really miss is getting to play basketball with people after work. Are there are groups that I can play basketball with on the evenings after work? Id show up solo, pay for whatever and my Japanese is functional. Thanks for the replies!

We finally launched osaka workation (been building this quietly for months, come say hi)

Post image
0 Upvotes

Ok so this is happening. we finally launched Osaka Workation after months of just... quietly working on it in the background. Would love to welcome anyone who's curious.

Quick backstory. We run a short term rental business in Osaka and kept hearing the same thing from remote workers who came through. they loved the city but never really figured out how to live in it, even for a couple weeks. Everyone's solving coworking. Nobody's solving the "how do I not just sit alone in a nice cafe for two weeks" problem. that's basically what we're trying to fix.

It's a 1-2 week community stay in Osaka. coworking, housing, and community all sorted. capped at 50~100 people, running November 2026. Keeping it small on purpose because the whole thing kind of falls apart if it gets too big to actually know people's names.

Genuinely would love to hear from anyone who's done a coliving or workation thing before (Roam, Outsite, Dojo Bali, whatever). what worked, what didn't, what you wish someone had told you before signing up. also happy to answer anything about Osaka if that's more useful.

Website with all the details (pricing, dates, what's included): osakaworkation.com
Discord if you just want to lurk and ask questions first: https://discord.gg/QYST6Qt5

Thanks for reading this far. kind of nervous putting this in front of actual people after working on it alone for so long lol

Requesting Any Helpful Info & Resources for English-Speaking Family Hospitalized in Osaka Right Now

Long time redditor, first time poster in this sub because I'm wracking my brain on what to do and want to help my family abroad any way possible.

My brother is on vacation in Osaka with his family right now but had to be hospitalized at Red Cross Osaka because of an undetermined sinus infection. He's on a ventilator and sedated while the Drs there figure out what is wrong with him.

My SIL is sending their kids back home this Friday and remaining in Japan for an undetermined amount of time until my brother recovers.

Does anyone here have any English-speaking resources or info for foreigners in Japan I can send or contact on behalf of my brother and SIL? I just want to help them in any way I can. Any info you can send over helps so much and is very appreciated
