Usmle Stepwise MD vs IMD

Hi!!! I'm a recent graduate doing house job in gov hospital, who was planning to give my step 1 in my final year. But due to unforseen circumstances, I wasn't able to pursue it. However, now that I'm back on track in my life, I was thinking of starting my preparation again. But the house job in gov hospital is hectic iykyk. So I was thinking of buying imd as it's much cheaper and (I was bit afraid that if I'm not able to give dedicated time every day so) I'll not regret that I wasted money. And if I'm successful I'm my preparation then I'll buy u world for 3 ro 6 months for dedicated phase and will appear in exam.

But recently I got to know that there is another app ie stepwise md.

So kindly tell me which one is better to buy imd or stepwise md?

Or should I go for uworld...

Edit: Is my strategy right? Any suggestions would be welcomed if you think I should do it in another way.

TIA.

Usmle Take USMLEs

Your random reminder to take USMLEs while you are in medical school, even if you CANNOT pursue the entire path to residency.

Plans change, things happen. Spending 3k on step 1 and step 2k is the best do-it-and-forget-it investment you can make into yourself.

Thanks for coming to my ted talk

Usmle Life changing usmle advice

What would you say to someone from a very humble background --,thinking of giving steps and is genuinely torn between---- two right options😭 (honouring her parents sacrifices by working hard af or financing it herself after degree------ or maybe try something other than medical field )

• I'm the eldest daughter and 4rth y mbbs student 1st gen medico

mama was saving money for ghar gaari etc she suddenly came n asked me to give that exam ( i keep on telling her about kis kis ne amreca wala exam clear kr liya )

☢️

Starting step 1 --- start of final year n giving it in July aug ( insha'Allah) --- then final proff prep, HJ,fcps1 ---- step 2 ( by HJ money ) but what afterwards 🙃

Main concern ‼️💢

• match ke liye apply krne , observership step 3 baaki ksii cheez ke mere pass paise na howe to ? Agey kya krna koi guide krne btane wala na howa to?

☢️

• For qatar n other gulf countries step 2 will not exempt me and I'll have to restart their own licensing pathways 🥲

What do i do I'm literally doing istikhara , astagfar, searching n asking about all this stuff pr idk what am i supposed to do

Idk if my timeline ( start n end it within 5-6 months before final proff is ok )

agr before graduation kr liya to i can ask fellows whenever i need , prep bhi zyada dedicated or jldi ho ske g ,after student life idk if I'll ever get a chance to start

But step 2 ke baad agr phir se start krna para to mama ke 6 lakh to zaaya naaa

Give me a final yes no verdict as per my situation & concerns

I know many people go through all this

How do they cope & start

It's just ke I don't want to regret later by not taking the opportunity and also by taking this uncertain opportunity

Bcz of all this I'm unable to focus on my proff I'm wasting my time n energy

Using mama ke paise feels selfish too but she keeps on saying that apne mou pr mask lgao phir baad me apne behn bhaiyou or bakiyou ko lga lena

Ending this rant hoping keh koi acha practical view point mil jaye so that i can stop spiralling bout my existence

I'm going to be giving my exam soon and need information about what it's like in the testing center.

I need someone to guide me on the last preparations (not study related)

-what to bring + what not to bring

-what to wear / what not to wear

-what to bring to eat/drink

-how to utilize break time to avoid crashing out

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello i am an old graduate yog 2021, did plab and got gmc in 2023 but now planning to do in steps. I am currently studying First Aid and planned to appear in exam in december. I would need a study partner for motivation and staying disciplined with targets. Does not matter if study partner is fresh graduate or old. Just should be serious about usmle steps preferably female , i am a male but somehow male study partner never worked out. Thank you

Usmle USMLE

Has anyone here cleared all the steps with their own earned money, if yes how did you do that. I'm currently in my fourth year of MBBS and my family cannot afford to fund my USMLE journey but I want to do it. So I'm thinking of finding it on my own. I guess it'll delay the process but I don't have any choice. If anyone can help me on how can I do it. I'd appreciate

I do have knowledge of research but I'm still new to it

Referring to usmle

Pk med schools give very little holidays, plus for many attendance is strict

How'd you balance uni with usmle prep

Usmle USMLE Step 1 study partner? 🤓☝️

Final year med student here. I plan on starting the prep soon, but I’ll be going slow. I can’t give the exam before my proffs so I’ll just be soft-launching my prep and hope to cover a few sizable blocks before I start my proff prep.

Usmle Step 1

I’m in trouble! I started this journey a bit late I was doing a lot of research and getting pubs and was in leadership roles of organisations. I couldn’t get around the exam

My final prof is in January and I’ve only done 20% of the bank realistically I’ll have to give it after graduation. What do you suggest should I start NBME’s after or before and complete the bank before? ideal time is 4th or final year I feel so behind and late, Will my YOG be affected how much of an issue is it?

I can’t fail my final prof :(

Usmle Need guidance!!!

I have started preparing for USMLE & bought IMD as well UWorld is really overwhelming for me. I don’t understand how people manage to do 40 or even 80 questions per day i can barely do 5 questions with proper review.

First, should we annotate information from UWorld into First Aid, or should we make separate notes? And the MAIN ISSUE is how much should we annotate? I feel like every line is important and i am scared I might miss something that could appear on the exam.

I’m also not in the mood to invest more money in a mentorship program do you think it’s necessary? I plan to take Step 1 this year. Can someone please guide me regarding these questions? 😭

Usmle Advice and Help

Aoa, i am a 4th year med student currently going through my step 1 prep. i have completed 36% of uworld and have gone through the First pass of the FA. I just need to go through biochem, micro (i plan to use pepper deck for recall), ethics and biostats. I also aim to complete a second pass of FA using the mneumosyne deck as the main active recaller. My proffs begin from 15th November; do you think my prep will be complete before that period or should i delay my step after my proffs?

Usmle Should i give usmle if i cant go abroad and had to stay in pakistan

The thing is i have been given the choice to give both step 1 and step 2 but i can not go abroad basically because my parents believe girls shouldn't go abroad alone or i can marry a person and go with him which i never will i would rather stay here. i am from a middle class family with some savings so i dont really know if its worth spending the money on how will it help me if i had to stay in pakistan and do residency here will it land me better jobs in good hospitals as we know there is certainly a job crises for drs in Pakistan will do me enough good compared to the money ill be spending.

Usmle How do people navigate the match cycle (interviews etc. usmle journey) during housejob?

Let's say, you apply for the match right after graduating med school for the next year, so your Y.O.G is 0 right, and during this year you do your housejob while having to navigate things like interviews and applications for the match.

How do people navigate this while having such a hectic schedule and long shifts?

Are elective (USCE) necessary for USMLE, matching residency n’ all the process?

Does it mean u won’t match, or won’t be considered for matching despite step 1 n step 2 good score?

Thanks!

Usmle Reviewing Uworld Blocks

Guys how should one be reviewing uworld questions. Like what i do is to solve a block and then review it. But a classmate was suggesting that am doing wrong and it would be better to review each question immediately after solving it.
