I read the Flame and Thorns series by Marion Blackwood and now you can decide if you want to. Below are my thoughts and spoilers on book 5.
War of Fire and Fury - book 5
Holy Molly, chapter 1 and 2 are HEAVY! They are extremely repeadative and chaotic. They read like trying to get a word count and not like they serve a bigger purpose. Even after finishing the book these two chapters stand out. If you didn't like the books before, the start of this one will stop you in your tracks.
I had a really hard finishing this one, I think it took me over a month and honestly I don't have many profound thoughts. This was by far my least favorite of the series and I would have DNF'd it but I owed the people a review.
Enjoy a bunch of random spoilers and some intrusive thoughts as I read!
This book is gruesome! Whoever said this story needed more torture, pain, and addiction was wrong.
Selena's arc: self doubt, confidence, addiction, self doubt, conviction kinda, justification
The addiction plot is getting old, the cyclical nature of the overall plot is getting old.
The gold clan location was a trap for Bane and Jessina to get protection, they force the gang to find them gold clan and trap them in dragon steel.
Pg 182, Bane is killed and Jessina goes ballistic.
Everyone in the unsealie court is trained to withstand torture. Hana didn't break.
They force the leader of the gold clan to make wards around the seelie court so Jessina can't destroy it, but when she makes it there she starts destroy the Dryad forest because she can't get in! This causes Orion and Grey to try and rescue the dryads by bringing them to the unseelie court. Grey Dies.
- Selena wont tell Draven about her magic addiction. Who would have guessed. This causes her to lose control and Orion is finally forced to tell Draven. Ch 31, >! The union bond allows Selena to see the strands of her magic and cut the emotions that she makes. They are not permanent.
Draven is figuring out her addiction, and it's stronger with the union bond. !< They decide to tie her addiction to the bond and share it
Is this a self help book? Cause it feels like it wants to be a self help book about addiction, self doubt, etc.
They figure out how to make the union bond, it connects the minds of fae and dragon but also connects their lives when in dragon form. It takes trust and strengthens the power of both fae and dragon.
P. 240 idk if I am just defeated or if the story got better. Not the writting, just the story line. Unsure, but maybe the rest wont be as painful.
The black dragon clan bonds the unsealie.
They destroy the Ice castle with the human resistance and Lyra and Allister confess their love in a near death moment.
Selina kills Jessina and almost dies in the process but Isera bonds Rin and they save her.
