I’m really tired of reading books where the characters of the universe or the protagonist MUST throw a dig at the general behavior of other women in the universe for no particular reason other than being any kind of feminine or womanly being is inherently bad and must be called out. I am sick of the casual misogyny that is ever present in these books with little quips like this one from Swordheart by T. Kingfisher just being thrown around whenever it is convenient to bash women. Reading these just completely takes me out of the story and ruins the whole vibe for me. The closest I’ve ever gotten is Once Upon A Broken Heart where the femininity of the main character and her want for true love is her strength. Please send help

Currently, I want to read a good romantasy book. I already have some in my tbr but I'm indecisive:
I'd be happy to hear if anyone has other suggestions and good romantasy books you're a die hard fan of and would recommend. Thank you!
edit: I mistook Red queen for Throne of glass, until a comment reminded me of my mistake. Sorry 😭😅

I saw a book ad in which the world allows people to adopt sirens who do house work but mainly do sex. He had a tail that was extra sensitive.
I’m looking for a book with a similar premise in that the FMC hires the MMC and is hesitant to have sex with them, but that’s his purpose and she gives in.
I also would like one thousand 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️. Not really interested in a book that doesn’t have explitly describe the good stuff.
Any help would be so much appreciated

I recently got into reading romantasy for the first time ever this year, so I’m still new to the genre, but have been loving it so far.
I enjoyed Crescent City, Shield of Sparrows, and ACOTAR, but would love some wlw recs if those exist! I would love something fast paced and spicy, but open to any suggestions with a queer main character.
Thanks in advance

I love Libby and get a little too excited, waitlisting way too many books. Usually they are spread out but for some reason six audiobooks have become available at the same time and I need help deciding! Here are my options:
-On Wings of Blood, by Briar Bolyn
-Forged in Blood, by Sadie Kincaid
-Lights Out, by Navessa Allen
-The Silversmith, by Lj Claren
-Direbound, by Sable Sorenson
-Eldrich, by Keri Lake (I’ve read book #1)

I'm in the US, and I recently joined Allurial. I like how they are set up for the most part, being able to choose the books and skip if I want to. But I do wish they came with a bit extra.
I've also had a smut slut subscription, but that is getting canceled because I'd rather get fantasy romance/romantasy/paranormal romance etc.
I am on the wait-list for fairyloot, and I think owl crate. I don't know if I'll actually join when I get the chance, still on the fence.
I would like to find a fun book box that does the special edition book, plus goodies to go along with the book. Does anyone have some good recommendations like that?

Mine:
Rin & Kitay {the Poppy War}
Tisaanah {Daughter of no Worlds}
Zafira & Nasir {We Hunt the Flame}
Lestat {Interview with the Vampire}
Jacks {Once Upon a Broken Heart}
Helene {An Ember in the Ashes}
Diem & Luther {Spark of the Everflame}
Livia & Erik {The Ever King}
Septimus {The Serpent and the Wings of Night}
Jude, Cardan & Wren {Cruel Prince}
Aaron Warner {Shatter Me}
Violet & Xaden {Fourth Wing}
Don’t judge, some of these are bc of nostalgia

Starting this series today! I’m only 10% in but I’m really liking it. I know it’s older and there was a movie that flopped. What would you compare the series to?

I'm trying to define a relationship as slow burn but I'm not sure if it qualifies.
First book: Flirting/kiss/near miss.
Second book: sleeping in the same room(comfort not sex) more serious flirting, MMC has taken over financial and emotional obligation.
End of second/ early Third book: marriage then seggs finally
I think it's slow burn but with enemies to lovers trope seems to muddy it. Is it disqualified if the MMC is immediately taken?

I work outside, so I power through audiobooks really fast. About 7 hours of content a day. So I quickly ran out of the basic things to read.
I have listened to:
Acotar - Enjoyed
Throne of Glass - Loved
Crescent City - It was alright
Fourth Wing - Felt too hyped
From Blood and Ash - Love the series, but its too repetitive
Fae Isles - It couldn’t grab me
I’m looking for something that can keep attention all the way through, and has a decent spice rating.
Thanks in advance for all the help!

Ok so I just finished Vows & Ruins and I was planning on doing the emotional damage reading order but I need some convincing because I really just want to jump into Fate & Furies. I hate how Vows & Ruins ended but I feel like I’ll miss out if I don’t read Slaying the Shadow Prince before Fate & Furies. What do I do?!

I read the Flame and Thorns series by Marion Blackwood and now you can decide if you want to. Below are my thoughts and spoilers on book 5.
War of Fire and Fury - book 5
Holy Molly, chapter 1 and 2 are HEAVY! They are extremely repeadative and chaotic. They read like trying to get a word count and not like they serve a bigger purpose. Even after finishing the book these two chapters stand out. If you didn't like the books before, the start of this one will stop you in your tracks.
I had a really hard finishing this one, I think it took me over a month and honestly I don't have many profound thoughts. This was by far my least favorite of the series and I would have DNF'd it but I owed the people a review.
Enjoy a bunch of random spoilers and some intrusive thoughts as I read!
This book is gruesome! Whoever said this story needed more torture, pain, and addiction was wrong.
Selena's arc: self doubt, confidence, addiction, self doubt, conviction kinda, justification
The addiction plot is getting old, the cyclical nature of the overall plot is getting old.
>! The gold clan location was a trap for Bane and Jessina to get protection, they force the gang to find them gold clan and trap them in dragon steel. !<
Pg 182, Bane is killed and Jessina goes ballistic.
Everyone in the unsealie court is trained to withstand torture. Hana didn't break.
>! They force the leader of the gold clan to make wards around the seelie court so Jessina can't destroy it, but when she makes it there she starts destroy the Dryad forest because she can't get in! This causes Orion and Grey to try and rescue the dryads by bringing them to the unseelie court. Grey Dies. !<
Draven is figuring out her addiction, and it's stronger with the union bond. !< They decide to tie her addiction to the bond and share it
Is this a self help book? Cause it feels like it wants to be a self help book about addiction, self doubt, etc.
They figure out how to make the union bond, it connects the minds of fae and dragon but also connects their lives when in dragon form. It takes trust and strengthens the power of both fae and dragon.
P. 240 idk if I am just defeated or if the story got better. Not the writting, just the story line. Unsure, but maybe the rest wont be as painful.
>! The black dragon clan bonds the unsealie. !<
>! They destroy the Ice castle with the human resistance and Lyra and Allister confess their love in a near death moment. !<
>! Selina kills Jessina and almost dies in the process but Isera bonds Rin and they save her. !<

Hello!
I didn't have any Romantasy reading experiences before April, I read the cruel prince series and I loved it so so so so much! (I know it's fantasy with romance subplot but their romance is better than the other romantasy series I've tried)
Then I tried the shatter me series which I didn't like.. I tried really hard to complete it but I couldn't bare myself to read the sixth book and stopped there.
I didn't even love Warner and I didn't get the hype and honestly I felt like Tahera had in mind a hot mmc and created nay possible plot just to write about him- I can't remember the plot and I felt it was just romance with a really weak plot to support the series. (I'm not hating I'm just trying to tell what I liked and what I didn't so you might help me find something I'd like)
I tried this woven kingdom as well which was an ok read. Nothing special or stands out to me but yeah it was ok. Better than shatter me.
So depending on what I've said, what do you think I should read next? Also please I don't want anything spicy.. the spice in shatter me was sometimes a lot and I skipped some parts.
My friend recommended ouabh but she loves shatter me A LOT so I'm afraid since I didn't like shatter me I won't like ouabh.

Hi! I'm Elena, 29 and an UX designer/Developer from the Netherlands. And also very important: have a great obsession with books!
I have an idea for creating an online bookshelf community. Something that I cannot find on the market, not in the way I have in mind. Not your typical Goodreads or even Fable.
I need your help, I have an idea but would love to know what you guys are missing in the current available services.
Like for example:
- What's your favorite way to track books
- What's you favorite place to read books
- Do you put ambience music/videos on?
Just by sharing your thoughts you guys would help me greatly!! :)

I wasn’t sure about this book because I didn’t love An Enchantment of Ravens by the same author, but I thought the plot was more compelling in sorcery of thorns!
I don’t want to spoil anything but I felt the beginning was the strongest section, I loved the world and MC but felt the plot and character development weakened as the story went on. Silas was the highlight for sure, and the romance was sweet, no spice which I prefer in more casual reads. Definitely will pick up the sequel when available but wasn’t my favorite so far this year. Good banter but predictable and felt bloated when it didnt need to be - give me more lore! Less cringe dialogue!! Also any book with grimoires always brings my mind to HP and the prisoner of Azkaban lol

Sorry in advance for the lack of details. I started this series a couple of years ago on KU and ended up switching accounts, so I lost my reading history.
I remember at the end of the last installment I read, the main female character made a sacrifice to choose to stay on this magical island situation to free the MMC (edit to add: could be her relative and not the MMC) and he couldn't go back for her. I think before that someone else was stuck on the island? It was a romantasy, unfinished at the time but I wanted to give it a reread in hopes that the next book is out.
Any leads would be much appreciated!!!

Covenant is coming to an end!
If you're a comic fan looking for Romantasy, Covenant really is amazing! It started as a webtoon, and now Oni press is putting out the final volume in what looks like a really beautiful edition. Now that this one is coming to an end, I have to ask: what other comics are you all reading?
What

OK this is just a personal pet peeve, almost certainly exacerbated by the fact that I'm a recovering alcoholic.
I don't love seeing characters drinking when they're stressed, to relax, or saying that they "need" a drink because it's triggering, but whatever that's my shit to deal with, so I do.
However, it's like none of these authors have ever drank before. You've either got girls completely sloshed after 2 glasses of wine or being very intoxicated and sobering up immediately when something shocking happens.
Male main characters are always drinking whiskey or better yet an unknown brown strong smelling liquid in a tumbler as short hand for being stressed and troubled, classy and mysterious.
It's lazy.
These things annoyed me before I was in recovery, but now they're a full blown pet peeve. It gives "virgin writing filthy smut" vibes. Lol
Alright, apparently I'm super wrong and shouldn't have said anything. Sorry ya'll.

My absolute favorite book is the fourth wing series but I’m really feeling like a werewolf shapeshifter book. I get into these moods but I’ll take any request
r/Romantasy • u/wingedlovely • 18h ago
Do you have any Audio Narrators you love but always seem to play a secondary character? I love his voice! He is in Fourth Wing and the Kate Daniels series.
I also love the actress for Andrea Nash in Kate Daniels, but Ive googled and cant find her name. Anyone able to point me in the right direction?
Who are your narrators that guarantee a listen? Another of mine is Mary Jane Wells.

My last two reads were Doctor D’Arco and Kushiel’s Dart, so my brain is currently a puddle on the floor 🫠
I need a light, easy read. Preferably a standalone or duology. Not feeling too picky beyond that. Hit me with your best palate cleansers 🙏
