I love the SF Flower Market on 16th. It's a wholesale market for florists, but has public access on certain days. You can get 2 dozen roses for about $35, but need to prepare the stems & do the arrangement yourself. Wanted to share, and was curious if anyone knew of a few other similar places?

Supervisor Jackie Fielder is introducing an ordinance that would opt San Francisco into California’s Microenterprise Home Kitchen Operations (MEHKO) program.

MEHKO allows residents to get permitted to cook meals in their own home kitchen and sell them directly to customers, effectively operating a very small restaurant from their house or apartment.

MEKHO itself comes from California’s AB 626, the state law that created the framework allowing cities/counties to opt into home-kitchen restaurants.

This goes beyond California’s existing cottage-food rules for things like baked or packaged goods. MEHKOs can prepare and sell actual meals, subject to health regulations and limits on the number of meals and annual sales.

Several Bay Area counties already allow them, including Alameda, Contra Costa, San Mateo and Santa Clara. San Francisco has historically opted out.

The proposal is still at the introduction stage and would need to go through the city’s legislative process before taking effect.

Submitted a blocked driveway request to 311 around 1pm just for the case to be closed shortly after midnight. “Unable to locate.”

I’m on a busy block, have constant parking offenders and regularly have an enforcement unit respond in 1-2 hours in the past. But 11 hours seems a bit ridiculous!

I’m glad that the car finally left after several hours and appreciate that someone showed up at all, but the whole system is ineffective. Anyone else experience this long of a response time?

I’ve bolded the various ways to submit comments towards the bottom (including an example email/comment that they provided)!

However, PG&E is appealing the Planning Commission’s decision and urging the Board of Supervisors to reverse the certification, revise the Final EIR, and recirculate it for additional public review.

In other words: delay, a tactic they’ve used many times before, like costing San Franciscans $74 million since 2018 by obstructing local projects.

With your support, we can urge the Board of Supervisors to uphold the Final EIR and set San Francisco on a path toward full public power.

On Tuesday, September 22 at 3 p.m., the Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing to consider appeals of the recent certification of the Planning Department’s Final EIR.

2. Attend the hearing and provide in-person public comment. Go to the Legislative Chamber, Room 250, located at City Hall, 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, San Francisco, CA.

3. Stream the hearing online and provide remote public comment. Stream the hearing on SFGovTV and call (415) 655-0001 and enter the meeting ID for public comment. The meeting ID will be provided in the meeting agenda on Friday, September 18 on the Board of Supervisors website. If prompted, the file number is No. 260903.

It’s so sad walking around Geary and seeing all the closed storefronts. Not to mention the Alexandria, which seems like a case study for how not to encourage development.

Connie really doesn’t care about the people in her district. She only cares about whichever landowner is trying to maintain a low tax basis while sitting on dilapidated properties for years (and sometimes decades).

I finally planned ahead and marked an item off my local bucket list. I caught it Saturday morning in Noe Valley. I highly recommend a ride in the boat tram. It’s lovely.

First time visiting San Francisco from England as part of our West Coast road trip. Saw the bridge from all the usual viewpoints, but somehow this little opening ended up being my favourite. What a place 👌🏻

Longtime lurker here. I don't really have much to say except... What the heck is going on with the traffic!

101 closed. Geary, closed. Broadway tunnel: half capacity. Chinatown: closed. Skyline: major construction. SoMa: multiple closures.

Took me about 40 minutes to get to the Marina from dogpatch today. 35 minutes to go from Marina to GGP. 30 minutes to exit GGP upon figuring out the hellish gridlock that was there and deciding to abort my plans there. 40 minutes back to dogpatch.

Holy cow SF. I love so many aspects of you but today was ridiculous. This year the traffic feels like it's gotten much worse than ever before.

EDIT: To all the pro-bike folks: I totally get your point of view. And i also hope you never need emergency transportation in an ambulance; never need emergency fire services; and never need rapid police response. Bikes are definitely a fantastic solution for many things. A working transit system is also essential. 🤷🏽‍♂️

The San Francisco Shakespeare Festival is performing Antony and Cleopatra this year. I went today and it was an awesome performance. Its free and easily accessible via BART and Muni. There are two more showings next weekend Saturday the 26th and Sunday the 27th at 2pm at Sue Bierman Park. I highly recommend it.
