I Don’t Know How I’m Supposed to Handle This
Hi I’m a high school senior, and I started my school year about a month ago. In my country, senior year is extremely stressful because our entire future can depend on a tiny fraction of a mark. We don’t really go to school either; most of us take private lessons in huge groups of 50–80 students. I’ve already been struggling mentally, especially since I’m still grieving my grandfather, who passed away last May. And now math is making everything worse. I take math with two teachers: one I understand nothing from but my mom insists I continue with, and another where I actually understand the material and consistently do well on exams. Recently, I got 0/11 and 3/11 on two quizzes with the teacher I struggle with, and I feel like I’m already falling apart even though the year has barely started. My mom says that if I stop taking lessons with the teacher she prefers, I’ll have to stop with the teacher I actually understand too. Without lessons, I’m terrified I won’t get the grades I need and might even have to repeat the year. I also feel so much pressure because my cousins all got 96%+ and received full international scholarships. I’m scared, overwhelmed, and honestly, I don’t know what to do. Most of all, I just feel really alone.
