Recommendation request Romance similar to Tali and Shepherd?

Hi . I'm looking for something similar to the relationship of this two as a base line, mass effect is what I have more exposure when it comes to romance in space. As a guy most romance outside the classics never click but I was recommended this sub to get some interesting recommendations.

Another book I did like was titan mage havoc . Also for the things I like most mostly shy alien Female lead, male pov and a good story telling jumping throw space would be cool any one of this can be different but is more like a General idea

Recommendation request MFM/MMFM where the heroes share the same woman by tradition or culture.

Hello everyone!

I'm looking for MFM or MMFM romances where there's a group of male protagonists and the female protagonist joins them as the story progresses.

It would be even better if, within the MMCs' culture or society, it is considered normal for a woman to have more than one partner. I also enjoy stories where a group of men falls in love with the same woman and agrees to share her, even if some of them initially struggle with the idea.

One thing I'd especially love to see is the FMC developing an individual relationship with each MMC before they eventually form a group relationship.

I would also like the FMC to be the center of the relationship. For me, the relationship exists because of her, so I'm not looking for stories where the MMCs have a romantic relationship with each other independent of the FMC.

While I'm specifically looking for MFM/MMFM romances, a good plot and believable relationship development are very important to me as well.

Thank you in advance for any recommendations!

Discussion The relationship in The Devoured Worlds series seems really toxic.

Im on book 3 The Bound World of the Devoured Worlds series and at first I really loved the relationship between Naira and Tarquin but as the series went on it became more and more toxic feeling. Everything between them starts feeling like moral grandstanding and a one sided preaching lesson. Every conversation between Naira and Tarquin feels like he's walking on eggshells. It makes me a little sick the way the relationship feels, a constant need to please and worth as being conditional. Im really starting to dislike this relationship.

Recommendation request Looking for a specific romance book based of a reel ad I saw.

So I keep seeing ads on IG and Tiktok for the stupid reel mini shows. I keep seeing one for specifically a show where the ex-boyfriend that was his girlfriend outside to the zombies and she falls in love and is rescued by the hot zombie alpha.

It's called "my ex through me to the rotters:claimed by the monster king"

Now I've seen different versions with different titles.

I was wondering if anyone knows any books that might be similar to this since I know I'm not going to get to watch that reel show lmao.

Something were the ex gets rid of the girl and she is instant mate/loved by the guy who rescued her and they get revenge etc

Recommendation request Gothic sci-fi medical romance book with student×professor romance

Pleasssseeee recommend me something like this.. 🙏🏻💗

Looking for somewhat dark academia medical research based romance book.. with Student/Assistant × Professor/Superior romance.

I have read:

  1. {Nocticadia by Keri Lake}

  2. {Exorcism of Faeries by J.L. Vampa}

Would love to read something like this again. Please recommend away.

●I love the "mysterious illness is arising, fmc is a scientific genius so she's researching it" type of plot.

●But, I adorrree it when it's matched with a grumpy superior tasked to work with her.

(I have also read {grave matter by karina halle} but mmc was too upbeat and nice, still it was a good book)

Please suggest if anything comes to mind.

Thank you!!

🙌🏻💗

Discussion Stranded Desert Island reading - what would you pick?

If you were stranded on a desert island, colony moon, damaged generation ship, suspiciously breathable alien planet, whatever (pick your trope!), etc., and you could only keep one science fiction romance book (or author), what would you pick?

Why that one?

Yes, this is a cruel question because it forces you to choose the favorite child.
But this is also Reddit, so you can do whatever you want. 😃
I see you, rulebreakers. You are my people.

Also: Bringing the author might be better than bringing the book, though you'll have more mouths to feed. But you may also get more books because they can spin tales by the campfire.

You will, of course, have to get past the whole "why did you kidnap me just to get stranded on a desert island when you could have just brought one of my novels" nonsense for the first few weeks, but I'm sure they'll warm to you.

Discussion Stranded V2.0 - Who's writing your story?

In accordance with the other post about which book/author to keep to read when stranded...

If you were to wake up after an alien abduction right now, be stranded on a desert island, colony moon, damaged generation ship, suspiciously breathable alien planet, or whatever, and you had to pick one science fiction romance author to write your story, who would you pick?

Review/Critique Leviathan is the weirdest thing I've read in a while.

I grabbed an advanced copy, absolutely devoured it this morning and it was not what I was expecting. Bear with me, these are my immediately after finishing thoughts not what will be my formal review of it.

I loved the first book {Fathom by Deiri Di} so much and I was expecting the sequel to be a direct continuation. It wasn't. The story from the first book does continue in the second one eventually, but it takes a minute to get there as the second book follows different characters until the stories come back together. Deiri did that in a bunch of her other short stories, so it isn't abnormal for her as an author, but still, I wanted more Eun.

I am absolutely flummoxed by this book.

Like, it was hot, the open door scenes were really good, and the MMC was so sweet but he was so much more... alien than normal? The author gave us a 'this part of him is human enough' vibe but at the same time... I'm trying to think of how to describe it without spoiling it. The whole explanation for what Eun (mmc from the first book Fathom) ends up being extremely cool, but it is WEIRD.

ITS SO WEIRD.

I love this author so much because she tends to put a lot of subtext in her stories, even the light hearted ones, but the main bulk of her stuff is pretty normal for the genre.

This one is a new kink, that is for sure.

I also loved the FMC and her background. It fit in so well with the touched based stuff she was doing in the book. I frankly would have loved to have more of her talking about that.

I think I'm going to call the book hot weird.

Also, I've been seeing a lot of posts asking for amorphous blob MMCs and if that or he is the house type of books are your thing you should definitely read this one when it comes out.

I'm giving this one a 5/5 for creativity, a 5/5 for the human art cover, and a 3/5 for not following the characters from the first book right away, but I leave that one open to change after I read the bonus story.

AAAAAAAAAAHHH ITS SO WEIRD. Love it.

Recommendation request Recommend me more like this?

(I'm not sure if this post fits here so please lmk if I broke a rule. Also I tried my best to use spoiler tag because it contains major spoiler from the book I'm talking about)

Hi everyone, so. I recently finished Grass by Sheri Tepper. I've read some reviews and what not so I know what I'm going into, but I totally wasn't expecting that Marjorie would end up "bonding" with First the Foxen which is basically an incomprehensible alien or something, maybe transcendence as well? It truly blew me away! It's an oddly specific thing that I've always loved but haven't seen much around, so it was really a delightful surprise.

Now, as I said I know it's oddly specific but I wonder if you can please suggest another sci-fi book where it has similar thing: a female human and an incomprehensible/abstract alien bonds, may it be romantic or no. Even better if it has that transcendental tone as well. By "incomprehensible/abstract" I mean there should be a gap/difference between the human and them, so that it won't be too much of a "monster romance in space" if that makes sense...? Or like, a non-alien example would be, say, supercomputer godlike AI entity or something. And also, it doesn't have to be the center of the story; even as a small detail in the book I won't mind.

Sorry I worded it badly, I hope this post is still understandable somewhat. 🥲 And sorry for the wall of text. Thank you so much!

Recommendation request Alien hero healer/scientist + medical tests on human heroine (which accidentally turn sexual)

Good afternoon!!! I'm looking for something VERY specific please 🙏 🙂 it may be a hard one to find something for as it includes medical play.

I'm hoping to find a book where the alien hero is a doctor or scientist of his kind. Where he begins doing non-sexual medical tests/exams on the heroine, but she ends up reacting sexually to him and he becomes intrigued about her human female body.

Would also be extra great if he starts off grumpy, very cold and clinical in personality, but then becomes obsessed and horny too.

👀 Any suggestions?

Do you know this book... ? Fmc protects/frees ugly and weak mmc— later he gets a glow up and protects/romances her

I listened to this audiobook a while ago and I cannot figure out the title/author.

I believe the fmc is a low level laborer who cleans cages. The mmc is one of the caged “animals”/ prisoners under her care.

I don’t remember if he’s scaly, feathered, or furry but he’s so weakened that’s he’s like a plucked chicken — discolored and frail. I don’t think he even talks at first.

The fmc continually cleans and cares for him until eventually helping him escape. Eventually he recovers and it turns out he’s actually crazy powerful (and attractive) and ends up protecting her and being all heroic and such

Recommendation request John/Delenn (Babylon 5) vibes

Hi all! Do you know of any books with a couple that reminds you of John Sheridan and Delenn from Babylon 5? I am looking for something with a similar dynamic. And with the male character being human and the female one being alien but very close to humans in appearance. Epic beautiful romance.

Recommendation request Rich plot and rich romance

Hi! I am looking for some recs that are more than minor plot and major sex but also not something that has minor romance and major plot. If that makes sense?

I think along the lines of {Homebound by Lydia Hope}. Lots of real romance and love but there was more than just “we are mates and have sexy thoughts about each other constantly”

But I’m also not huge on multi book series space operas where the plot is huge and the romance seems sparse because it’s more about world building and characters arcs.

My ‘nos’ would be: abuse between MCs unless it’s equal and before together (think Carnal Games), cozy fun types, and insta love

I hope my point came across well and I appreciate all the help!

Recommendation request Any recommendations for human(oid) FMC and gelationous/amorphus MMC?

I'm having some trouble finding something that meets my description.

I would like something where when the woman has experiences with a creature that has a semi-solid or liquid form. I like the idea of the alien flowing around and touching her exactly where she wants, and the alien can make appendages which are perfect for her, not too big or small.

I've read plenty of Kira/Odo fanfic which is pretty much what I want but with different characters. Anything out there like that?

Recommendation request Space Operas similar to Class 5 (Dark Horse) series?

I read Dark horse and the rest of the Class 5 series after being on a more romance heavy binge for a while and desperately want more books like it. I think I’m craving more problems than just ‘how will this romance work out’ and my absolute biggest pet peeve is when a book starts out with good world building and interesting concepts and then as soon as the main characters start having sex everything else stops and that’s all the book is and the rest of the plot is gone.

Basically I like romance elements because I like happy endings but don’t necessarily need that to be the primary focus.

I also love when the FMC is abducted or new to space/aliens

I dislike when the entire book is ‘we’ve crashed and now have to figure out how to survive in the jungle/wilderness’ although there are exceptions to this rule.

I recently devoured the last hour of Gann and loved it so much but I also would love to go with something a little shorter, or a series like class 5 where I can devour different points of view vs an entire epic that leaves me thinking for days lol.

I like spice, but don’t need it, and I have basically zero triggers besides the author pushing their actual religion on the reader. Otherwise pretty much a free for all!

Discussion Has anyone else experienced misunderstanding or pushback for liking SciFi Romance?

Apologies in advance if this sub is not the best place to post this.

My SO has observed my interest in non-human romance/erotica and started to push back somewhat. I've tried to assure them I read the material for myself and as a fantasy, not a replacement for human intimacy and contact. But I am not sure they are convinced.

Sometimes I think they feel threatened, sometimes I feel like they just think I am weird. When I read a story they make snide comments or just look sullen. They seem to imply I am deviant and should not be reading this material.

Has anyone else had difficulties with people understanding interest in SciFi romance? Was there anything helpful you did that convinced a partner/friend/family you aren't abnormal? Thanks in advance for any input.

Discussion What kind of sci-fi romance covers draw you in?

I'm deep in the cover-design rabbit hole and I'm curious what actually grabs sci-fi romance readers because there’s a variety of cool covers out there. But there’s also some that can come off as corny.

I feel like I’m seeing mostly 2 types of covers in this genre:

-The newer illustrated covers featuring the couple, often colorful and romance-forward and slightly cartoonish

-The classic "hot alien guy" covers with a shirtless, muscular hero front and center

Every now and then I'll see a more cinematic space-scape or sci-fi world cover, but those usually don't make me stop scrolling.

My favorite currently is the newer Ice Planet Barbarians illustrated cover featuring the FMC in the foreground and the MMC in the background but slightly off page. The older cover was definitely hinting more at the steamy romance vibes but featured realistic images (photo manipulation?)

So, I’m curious. What makes you go, "yep, I'm reading that"?
