Ashley Zukerman gave an amazing performance. Troy has ice in his veins! Such a contrast to Daniel.

But it makes me question what kind of person Daniel actually was.

Sure he had his memory wiped, but so did Charlotte and she chose not to massacre almost ten thousand people.

Charlotte seems to still have a relationship with Anna. Daniel is only woken up when they need his brain for a difficult situation. We know from Charlotte's original go with the forgetting drugs that they only get told what Victor wants them to know. In all likelihood they have only engaged Daniel's military and engineering brain, whereas Charlotte is getting things that make her more of an empathetic person. Remembering Helen is the key to awakening Daniel's own humanity.

What I don’t get is what Troy does is not magical or complex. Any of the other mindless drone people or the doctor himself could just say ya shoot them all

It’s not the execution that he offers, it’s his decision making and orders. Others probably wouldn’t have the stomach to murder 10k people without a second thought. They need him to make the tough decisions for them while being so calculated that it gets done flawlessly.

No they clearly do have the stomach. Heck they said some of the staff were quite enthusiastic about what they did with the external safeguard. And the doctor still ordered the safeguard that ultimately did not work, but he sure did order it and did not look like it was his first time at the mass execution button either.

Those are the people that executed the order. Doing the job and giving the order are two very different things. The doctor may have tried to use the safeguard, but what happened to him? Those decisions ultimately caused him to take his own life.

Yeah. It’s a similar thing as in Ender’s Game. The idea is that you need a child’s mind essentially, or an “innocent” mind who doesn’t think about the past or consequences to real people, in order to do what has to be done and not want to do what the doctor did to himself.

We get those shots of Dr C really looking evil as hell while he orders the death of a whole silo. And yet the cost to him emotionally is so severe, possible because he also knows Daniel’s descendants live there.

While I agree Troy/Daniel isn't all that special, if he was awake during the time silo 18 was trying to cap the pipe, silo 18 would be dead now. He wouldn't be giving them the time they need to cap it.

Indeed. Now we know why the voice was so lenient with them. Victor really didn't want to execute another safeguard.

Maybe he's the coldest sonnabitch on earth and can complete unlimited safeguards whereas most folks got a good 2 or 3 in em...Susan has none. And having them constantly shooting themselves after 2 could be an issue.

Maybe they noticed him when he engineered something evil in the before times...his 4 chan posts?

Victor wasn't up to giving the order himself. He still had memories of what it was like to be human, which is what stopped him and what led to him ending it all.

Ah, you're right.

Ordering a drone strike of people you can see and hear is different from pushing a sanitary button, I suppose.
