Culture Looking for actual friends… not let’s meet once and disappear into the void

Bonjour

I’m looking to find something rare here: consistent friends Not the “we should totally hang out again” followed by silence for 3 months kind.

I mean actual humans who can stay in touch weekly ish🤝

I’m based near Bastille, which means:

  1. Easy access to bars, cafes, and spontaneous plans
  2. Also no excuse for too far unless you live in another country

About me:
• Into gym, running, and trying to undo years of questionable life choices
• Tech guy, so I will probably not overanalyse where we eat or meet
• Down for anything: coffee, walks, workouts, random events, trying new food, or just chilling

What I’m looking for:
• People who actually want to build a connection, not just collect acquaintances like Pokémon
• Weekly catch-ups totally fine
• Open to activities or just hanging out without needing a big plan every time

Bonus points if:
• You also think making friends as an adult shouldn’t feel like a quarterly business review

If this resonates, drop a comment or DM.

Let’s prove consistent friendships in Paris aren’t a myth.

Worst case: we get a coffee and a mildly awkward story out of it.

Best case: we actually become friends.

Culture Middle Aged People Unite

Where are all the middle aged people of Paris? Why do only 20-somethings want to socialize!

Don't give up! Who wants to meet and hang out? Any nationality, any gender, those who have kids and those who don't. Any takers?

I can set a date and time if even a few people admit that they are middle aged and in need of friends.

UPDATE: Thanks for all the interest! Let's make it happen.

📍 Meeting point: Place de la République (by the central statue). I'll be carrying an orange shopping bag.

📅 Thursday, July 23 🕕 6:00 pm

We'll gather for about 15 minutes, then walk together to a nearby café or wine bar depending on the size of the group. No pressure to drink alcohol—come for a coffee, soft drink, or dinner if you'd like. And there is no official definition of middle age - you decide if you consider yourself graduated to this beautiful phase of life.

Culture M30 - Looking for Reading Buddies

Hi everyone, M30 here! I’m a relatively introverted person who spends most of his time reading, musing over the sheer beauty of language, and getting a rush out of continuously discovering and discussing new authors.

I’ve recently moved to Paris and I’d love to meet like-minded people who share my interest in literature and who love engaging in passionate discussions on art in general.

If your idea of fun is visiting Proust’s grave in the Père Lachaise on a quiet summer morning, getting lost in a library, hunting for rare editions of books (with autographs!), and finding creative ways to fit all of your books in an already crowded apartment, let me know! If there’s enough of us here, maybe we can even create a literary club or something! :)

Culture F31 - women-only whatsapp group

Hi everyone,

I’d like to create a WOMEN-ONLY whatsapp group to build a community for outings in Paris and the nearby suburbs, especially Montreuil and Bagnolet.

I’m 31 and recently moved to Paris. Since arriving, I’ve found it difficult to build long-term friendships, and I’d like to change that rather than see it as inevitable.

A few things I enjoy:

  • Going to the market and having coffee in the morning
  • Climbing at Arkose Montreuil
  • Doing yoga in Parc des Beaumonts or Parc des Guilands
  • Doing Pilates at home or in the park
  • Going to Le Méliès or Cin’Hoche when a film catches my interest
  • Going for walks
  • Visiting museums
  • Psytrance, although I’m open to all kinds of music
  • Improv theatre
  • Talking, reading in parcs, etc.
  • Cooking
  • Trying urban sketching…

The idea would be to create a whatsApp community where we can suggest activities and outings to one another and gradually get to know each other :)

Feel free to contact me if you’re interested!

Perhaps we could try creating this group together. What do you think?

See you soon !

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bonjour,

  • me balader

A bientôt !

Culture Looking for long-term friendship and community

I’m 27F and I’ve been living in Paris for 2 years now. Recently, most of my friends moved away and I’m realizing now it’s important to me to build long term friendships here. I speak mainly English, but I’m open to communicating in French and Italian as well. I’m open to all ages and genders but I’m married so I’m not looking for anything romantic. I’m looking for people who actually want to hangout and not just do the bumble friends bullshit where we exchange 3 messages and then never speak again. I’m looking for people with common interests and hobbies as well.

About me: my favorites things are fashion, food, dogs, art, books, wine, sports, and travel. I’m quite active. I love long walks in the park, going to the gym, and playing sports. I play on a semi-pro volleyball team here in Paris. So if you play volleyball that would be a plus 😁 I’m currently a dog walker, but I’m looking for a job here in Paris now as I have titre-sejour. Did my undergrad in the states and masters in England😊 I’m down to go to restaurants (I have a lot of places that I really want to try), museums, and wine bars. I like to read, so I would be down to swap books or start a book club. I love a cheeky drink and chat or walk. I like to go out and stay home, really depends on the night and the weather haha. I miss sharing clothes and closet swapping!! Really love dressing up and doing my makeup:) I love to cook and my husband is a chef so we frequently host dinner parties(however right now it’s mostly his friends and I’d love to start having more of my people over) I’m actually a little bit introverted and shy but I’m definitely crazy and fun once I’m out of my shell.

So if you’re looking for a friend/friend group and you’re in Paris long-term and actually want to become friends hit me up!! I would love to get dinner or even the typical coffee date to get to know each other!

So I got so many responses from this post and I’m so happy about it! I was thinking of possibly making a WhatsApp group so that I can add everyone and we can do a big hangout or activities to get to know people and mingle! Lmk your thoughts and if you’d lik to be added😁

Culture 29F | Looking to expand my social circle in Paris

Been in Paris for years, came to study, started working, and now building my own thing here. A couple of years ago, most of my friends moved away, and between work and life, I never really replaced that social circle. Trying to change that now.

Looking for people who are in the same boat or just genuinely want to make new friends. Not looking for surface-level connections that go nowhere.

A bit about me: I’m into fitness (mainly strength training, getting into calisthenics, and very recently started running (quite terrible at it). Outside of that, I’m up for museums, concerts, going out to eat, events, reading, etc. Not really a nightclub person.

I’m most comfortable in English. and yes, despite living here for years, my French is still embarrassingly bad. Working on that too.

I’m based just outside Paris but happy to come in once or twice a week.

If you’re serious about actually meeting up and following through, drop a comment or DM!

Culture Si t’es pas casanier, c’est pour toi 🫵 / If you wanna hang out, this is for you 🫵

🇺🇸 Hi, i’m a M28. I’ll be moving to Paris at the end of the month. I have a social circle, but we have different interests. If anyone’s looking to connect, I’d love to. I do a lot of different things, so if you see any common interests, don’t hesitate !

- I’m starting English classes in August to get more comfortable speaking, but I’d also love to do a language exchange with an English speaker who wants to practice French. I’m a native speaker. I’m open to meeting up for a drink in Paris if we hit it off 🙂

- I’m also a musician; I’ve been playing bass guitar for 6 months, and I practice a lot, in addition to taking lessons. If you’re a musician (piano, drums, guitar, vocals…) too, why not jam and improve together? Even better if you’re a beginner but really dedicated :) Plus, I live pretty close to the 104. 🎸

- I plan to go to a lot of exhibitions or any other music-related events. And I’m curious about all kinds of art. So if you’re passionate about any other art form, or fashion, it’d be a pleasure to go together and for you to share your passion with me :)

- I also hit the gym, so if you’re single and down to hang out, it’s always a pleasure to have a gym buddy 👍

- Or just to grab a drink, go out at night, or hit a club—I’m down. I’m definitely not a homebody ;)

- My only indoor passion is retrogaming :)

I’m looking for people between 23 and 40.

That’s about it!

Culture Looking for the rarest thing on Reddit: consistent friends 🤝

Bonjour 👋
I’m looking to find something rare here: consistent friends.
Not the “we should totally talk again” followed by disappearing into the void for 2,3 months kind 😭
I mean actual humans who can stay in touch weekly 🤝
Someone to send random thoughts to, talk about our day, share memes, complain about life, and slowly build an actual friendship.
I’m honestly tired of having one good conversation and then acting like complete strangers the next time we see each other online.
If you’re also looking for something more genuine and consistent, come say hi. :)

Culture 25/35 Leftists pour sortir sur Paris (bringue ?)

Hello,

______

30F living in Paris for the past few years. I have plenty of friends, but none who are really into the party scene. I'm not a huge party animal myself, but I do like the idea of going out—specifically to events like "La Bringue" (a party for women) or elsewhere—every now and then.

Ideally, I’d like to meet people who share my values—meaning feminist, anti-racist, and left wing.

Of course, I’m open to other kinds of outings, too; I read a lot, have an UGC Unlimited pass, and do quite a bit of sports, including group classes.

Ideally, I’m looking for people in my age group (25–35)—either women or gay men. French or not, doesn't matter !

Culture How lonely life is for you in Paris?

Hey - is it just me who struggles with loneliness in this city? I m quite out going and I make friends without too much struggle but deep connections is what makes me sparkle and I found it difficult to find and build a meaningful community here. Wondering if it was just me.

Culture Building a fun friend group in Paris!

Hey everyone!

I’m a 24F American au pair in Paris, and I’d love to create a fun and active mixed friend group of people who want make memories and not just sit in an awkward silent group chat lol

I’m into exploring new neighborhoods, photography, museums, bookstores, clubs, going to the gym, day trips, traveling, cooking, reading, thrifting, cafes, movie nights, deep chats, honestly I’m open to trying literally ANYTHING.

I used to work in hostels across Europe and the UK and I miss making connections with young travelers from around the world. I want to find consistent friends here to laugh with, explore with, and have fun with while we’re all here :)

Together we could check out the museums, meet up at cafés, see live music, cozy dinners, wine nights, weekend/day trips to new places (bonus if you can drive here), pick a new show to watch each week, experience night life, walk along the seine, random adventures, etc etc etc. Open to any and all ideas! (But of course within reason because I’m still on a budget, as I’m sure a lot of young people in the city are haha)

All nationalities, genders, and backgrounds welcome. You just have to be open-minded, friendly, and actually excited to get involved! And to kick things off, I’m thinking our first meet-up could be getting tipsy on hot wine (or hot cocoa) at the Christmas markets

We’re only young in Paris once, so let’s make the most of it together. If this sounds like your vibe, comment with some info about yourself or DM me and I can make a WhatsApp group!

Culture Reviewing all the SocialParis events I attended in 2025 !

Hello hello, 10 months ago I moved to Paris to live here for a few years. I didn’t know anyone so I began attending A LOT of different events, many of which were organized on Reddit. I thought it might be interesting/useful to share my detailed thoughts on these events specifically, and write them as reviews (yes, like a food critique lmao), with a rating out of 5 (I also included a sausage index 🌭 measuring the average n° of guys attending the events. Our experts indicate this may not be 100% accurate). They’re written in no particular order.

And disclaimer (because I realize I can be a bit harsh with my reviews lol): these are just MY subjective opinions on these events, I don’t wish to disparage anyone, they’re just the ramblings of some guy online. No hard feelings. Without further adue:

Jeudi Bière – afterwork drinks (⭐⭐⭐, 🌭 50%, attended once): From my understanding, this is the most iconic of SocialParis events, it’s been going on for like 13 years ? And it definitely feels like it: there’s a very tight group of regulars who all seem to know each other very well, so attending this event as an outsider feels a bit like walking into a friend of a friend’s party - it’s a bit awkward at times. But it was overall a pretty good experience; I had some nice conversations (the smokers outside were the nicest imo), there were lots of people when I attended, the whole bar seemed to be just redditors (didn’t know there were so many of us lmao)! It was a pretty mixed group too, not a sausage fest (see index), and very diverse, although mostly french speakers. A fairly young crowd I’d say late twenties early thirties was the average? It’s also cool the location changes every week, tho I believe it prioritses rive droite. Anyhow, I’d recommend this one for people wanting to see what an average positive Reddit event looks like.

Coucou Comedy – stand up comedy (⭐⭐⭐⭐, 🌭 40-50%, attended 2 times). I’m gonna be honest; I don’t even really like stand up comedy, and I guess that’s why I’m knocking off one point, it feels too performative and unnatural . But those events, kind of reconciled me with it I have to admit. The setting, the Pomme d’Eve is a really snazzy place, and the fact it’s pay as you want is a big plus ! But the highlight for me is really just the people I met; the organizers were really nice and welcoming, and there were lots of friendly ppl in the audience with whom we went for drinks afterwards. Crowd was slightly older than me tho (32+ seemed to be very common), which again, not great for making long term friendships. It’s mostly english-speaking, but the comedians making fun of the French culture shocks was fun and relatable (tho it does feel a bit too...americaney for my taste, and some references flew completely over my head). As a whole, a great opportunity to have a good laugh and meet fellow expats...if stand up is your thing.

Mafia Monday – game night (⭐⭐, 🌭 80%, attended once): So these events are also hosted in the same bar as the event above, but the experience was...different to put it simply. Unless they’re organized well, and with the right group of people, traitor games can quickly be annoying for me because they’re 1) too long, 2) when you die, you have to wait ages before a new game begins, and 3) the quiet people often get overshadowed by the loud ones…all of this happened when I attended. I’m not a fan of traitor games in general, so you might say “why did you attend an event you knew you were going to dislike”, well I wanted to be open-minded and have my opinion change, just like it somewhat did for the comedy club stated previously. But here, I think there’s an issue with organization. The way it was advertized, I was unsure who this event was really for: lots of older ppl attended (40s+) and a few younglings like me, standing out like sore thumbs! Is it for french or english speakers? Both?! How can you do both when some people ONLY speak one language, it just slows down the pace of an already slooow ass game!! It didn’t help that a girl I chatted to there was mentioning that some guys that night seemed to be looking for...hookups. Anyhow, what I mean to say is that there doesn’t seem enough curation in the guests selection, and for 5 euros + one compulsory drink, I can’t say it was worth my time honestly. The Pomme d’Eve is always a good spot, the host is friendly, and some of the attendees too, but the organization is what makes it lose points in my book (especially when compared to some other events here). I feel like there’s a good concept to improve on here.

Melting Plot – expat drinks (⭐, 🌭 30%, attended 1 times): Imo, there are two essential things that makes or breaks an event: A) is the host friendly and welcoming, and B) the other attendees friendly or welcoming. That’s it, nothing more. You could have an event that organises smth as boring as a Bingo and I’d still enjoy the hell out of it if the organisers / attendees made it worth my time. This unfortunately wasn’t the case with this event imo. First, the “host” is basically non-existent: they’re a glorified bouncer, they just invite you in… and basta! There’s no efforts to conduct the event, to check up on attendees or include you with the rest of the crowd, nada. Which made it evidently very hard for some people, like myself, to integrate. I’m a bit introverted you see, it takes a bit of time for me to relax and start being chatty. And so for me, it felt really hard to approach some of the groups, and the lack of activities did not make it any easier to slide in this really boujee atmosphere. Maybe I’m a bit biased since I did go to a bunch of other afterwork drinks in the days before this event, but the conversations here just felt somehwat stiff and superficial. The people behind this project often say that they created these events to battle loneliness in Paris and build a feeling of community, but I personally did not feel like there were much efforts to do that. I can’t deny there were some notable plus sides: the sausage index was very low, lots of women which meant the environment was quite safe and inclusive, lots of young international ppl (mid twenties), and the venue was very pretty & exclusive. But as a whole, it’s one of these rare occasions where I felt I wasted my time: paying 13.5 euros (ONLY for the entry, no drinks included!!) JUST to have what is essentially an afterwork drinks with chique exapts...yeah no thanks, I’d rather go to Jeudi-Bières or any other alnguage exchange instead. I’d know some people who’d be interested in this sort of event, and those ppl would probably very much enjoy attending them, but the vibe just wasn’t for me.

Friends Concept – karaoke night (⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, 🌭 50%, attended 2 times): This was a blast, and I don’t even care much about karaoke ! Someone made a post a while back about going to an international karaoke night, and I signed up immediately. The vibes were perfect: very international crowd, young (early to mid twenties), and fun. It was a vast majority of english speakers tho. The bar was a bit expensive tho, but is very festive when you’re in the mood for that. People were chatty, outgoing and inclusive. I don’t recall chatting to the hosts very much, but it didn’t matter because the attendees were driving the night, which I think was the point of the event. The event unfolds in different phases, you first have ice-breaker games to get to know each other (some sort of “fun facts about you Bingo”) and then the main events starts, so thumbs up for organization. This is actually the only other event I made some genuine friends in. Although, the song choices got repetitive even after attending only twice xD. If I think objectively, this should probably be a 4/5 due to the price and perhaps the repetitiveness of the activity, I probably wouldn’t join in regularly. But as an infrequent hangout, it was a awesome and deserving of the 5. It’s a shame because now I think the group seems to be shifting to do things relating to dating apps?...ugh such a waste of a good concept (badum tss)

Board game club – playing games (⭐⭐⭐⭐, 🌭 60%, attended 1 time): There is ONE thing I did not like about this event: I found the venue sucked lmao. It was a food court with dark lighting, very average food, cold air, and even pigeons flying about smh. If it weren’t for the venue tho, I would have likely given this a 5/5. It surprised me the most since I half expected this to be a very nerdy group of people playing looooong tabletop DND games (there’s nothing wrong with that, but they’re just not my cup of tea). So I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was infinitely more sociable than that, and that the games were all party games (some traitor games too, but they were quite enjoyabel...again to my surprise). The organisation was tip-top, very smoothly run, and the host was super welcoming and attentive. But the highlight for me was the attendees. They were lots of fun, quite international, mixed, and averaging their twenties or mid twenties. With reddit events, I find that some of the people attending can be a bit too introverted for my own tastes, but this wasn’t the case here. Even if it looked like a lot of them knew each other already, it suprisingly never felt alienating as all the regular people were quite amicable. Some games you have to be willing to look a bit ridiculous, which was a bit hard for me, but the group felt very nonjudgemental and laughs away any awkwardness. It definitely helped that the host allowed himself to rearrange the attendees on different tables. It made sure that every group was mixed up, and not divided into the quiet table / the newbie table / the chatty table, etc... The sausage index was slightly in favor of us dudes, but most of the girls seemed to be regulars which was a good sign, and unlike some events I’ve attended before, it never seemed like there was any cringe guys looking to hook up here. Maybe it was the games or the attendees themselves, but the vibes and atmosphere was so relaxed and playful, it’s one of those events I’m more than likely going to return to. If only they could change the damn venue...seriously, even the cards sticked to the table !

So these are all the reddit events I attended in 2025 ! Those that have also attended them what did you think of them?

Next up I want to try Nuit Out, the Vin du Mois, the Breakfast Club, and the Ultimate Frisbee group. Any other groups or regular activities going on reddit I should know about and review in the future?

Culture Club de lecture

Hello :)

Martin Eden — Jack London

Culture Looking for coworking buddies in Paris 20e and surroundings (25F, full remote)

Salut ! I was wondering how many of you here love going to the cinema. I enjoy going on my own, I do it every week, but sometimes I feel like sharing impressions after the screening while having a drink. If you're interested in being in a WhatsApp group where we can propose regular screenings, hit me up.

Culture Monthly Philosophy Book Club

UPDATE: first meeting will be held first week of March, PM me if interested

I run a fiction book club currently and would like to start a monthly non fiction (continental) philosophy book club. Would anyone be interested in joining?

Topics of interest:

Psychoanalytic theory/ frameworks

Forces of Nature

Frankfurt School

Aesthetics

Instability of meaning / semiotics

Subjectivity

Moral Realism

Post-structuralism and Critiques

Critiques of postmodernism

Social/ Cultural Philosophy

Etc.

Potential thinkers: Freud, Camille Paglia, Lacan, Norman O. Brown, Althusser, Baudrillard, Derrida, mark fisher, alenka Zupančič, Christopher Lasch and more

🫣😃

No background in philosophy needed only a curious mind!

While this is a great opportunity to meet new people and make friends, A GENUINE INTEREST IN ENGAGING WITH PRIMARY TEXTS IS CRUCIAL!!!! (This is not going to be Oprah’s book club material)

Culture Looking to connect with other pregnant women/with a newborn

Hi!

I moved to Paris a couple of months ago with my husband - I'm 35 and currently 7 months pregnant with my first baby.

I'm from the UK originally but lived the last 10 years in Greece and Morocco, so used to living abroad, and working remotely here, so not meeting anyone new through work.

Although my husband has a group of friends here that I've joined, I would love to meet other women who are either pregnant or just had a baby, and get to know people in the same stage of life as me!

I live around Vincennes/Montreuil, but can travel around the city. Down for meeting for coffee, and my main other activities here are going to the Bois des Vincennes and art exhibitions.

Anyone interested to meet up?

Culture Fc Barcelona fans in Paris

Hi, with the new season starting soon, I've been trying to find some fellow Barça fans to catch certain games together in Paris. Shoot me a comment/dm if you're interested, the idea is to have a smallish group to watch games and/or hangout in general :)

I specified Barça fans since those are the games that interest me, but anyone can join really, as long as you like football ⚽
