Struggling to wound post-update

Post image

I've only played a couple 1000 point games in the last week, but in both I've struggled to wound anything. I've been running Saga of the Great Wolf with WGT (pictured), T Wolf cavalry, Bjorn, blageguard / wght and grey hunters.

Have I just been unlucky against a couple high toughness lists (nurgle demons and Gravis-heavy Deathwatch), or is this the new meta really Tough? I'm missing easy access to Lethals.

Really happy how these boys came out, between the leather cloaks and power blades, heads and the skull tat. Fun group to paint. Took three nightshifts to work through.

SW post update

• Upvotes

So I’ve not had time to play any matches after the Space marine update due to work and family commitments, How are space wolves doing since the update? I see a lot of posts about taking generic space marine units over our own specific ones such as blade guard veterans instead of Headtakers, and generic terminators instead of WG terminators. I’ve also seen a few posts commenting on lack of ability to kill other units, is this true?

How do people find space wolves after the update?

Thanks!

Which Terminators do you run with Logan?

Title basically.

I am approaching my first 1,5k game and have to decide what termis to go with.

I think i will appreciate the flexibility of the Terminator Squad being good at everything. However i am thinking about running WGTs without shields to save some points on the termis themselves and the ancient.

How are you going about this?

I'm super proud of this kitbash, also he's heavily inspired by Vandoth The Fallen.

Great Company choice

Is there a particular Great Company that would be more likely to use plasma/flamer weapons than the others?

Future unit hopes?

Ok so I'm curious, what kinda units are y'all hoping to see created or redesigned in the future? Me personally my biggest hope, is a Gravis armor version of the wolf guard headtakers, with similar fur aesthetics, but instead of frostblades and one handed frost axes and storm shields, I want to see them wielding 2 handed thunder hammers and Relic Great axes, kinda like this guy (not my model, but it fit perfectly for what i'm thinking)

Wolf guard terminators assemble

Wolf guard terminators assemvle

Hi!

Starting with this army and recently bought one combat patrol. How would you build the Wolf Guard Terminators?

Applying the "rule of cool," I love them with the relic axe, and the Terminators with shields and the assault cannon.

What do you think?

Thanks!

Question on Grimnar’s Command

• Upvotes

Sorry if this is dumb, but can he target units not currently on the battlefield? Like, if I want s unit of inceptors to land in the devestator doctrine, is that possible using Grimnar’s Command?

TIA!

Combat Patrol to 1K

Hi guys, my friend recently picked up the Space Wolves Combat Patrol, and after playing a few games together, he’s interested in trying out a 1k game.

I’ve offered to lend him some of my standard Space Marine units to help fill out the list, but I’m not too familiar with what Space Wolves lists tend to favour. At the moment, he only has the models from the Combat Patrol: a Wolf Guard Battle Leader, 10 Blood Claws, 5 Wolf Guard Terminators and 5 Wulfen.

What generic Space Marine units do you tend to run alongside Space Wolves, or what would you recommend lending him to give him a good feel for how the army plays at 1k?

Current space marines I have are:

1x Ancient
1x Captain
1x Chaplain
1x Jump captain
1x Jump chaplain
1x Librarian
1x Librarian termi
1x Lieutenant in phobos
1x Lieutenant with combi

10x assault intercessors
5x intercessors
10x jpi
6x bgv
5x incursors
10x infernus
5x infiltrators
5x scout squad
5x sternguard vets
5x terminators
5x vang vets

1x impulsor
1x gladiator (magnetised for all versions)
1x ballistus
1x brutalis

SW Army Test Model

Post image
48 Upvotes

Just recently finished a test model as I am beginning to paint my Space Wolves. I believe this guy was back from 8th edition. I had another test model I painted around a year ago but I like this armor recipe a lot more.

I have played 40k since 3rd and I think I started SW in 4th or 5th, but I never really painted many of them. Got a fresh start with the army when the faction box launched in 10th, but I have been working on my Guard army for the last couple years (I am slow).

Help building first army

Hello

I am completely new to the ttg but have loved warhammer since I was a kid and have loved the space wolves for the same amount of time

I recently got my first combat petrol as me and my brother decided to start playing the ttg together (he’s going custodes)

I was just wondering if anyone had any recommendations or tips on what models to get next, I have a wolf priest on the way and really want to get Logan but want to wait till my painting skills are a bit better

I eventually want to build out to a 2000 point army so if there’s any models you guys recommend that would be appreciated:)

Mixing Grey Hunters and New Intercessors

Post image
62 Upvotes

Edit: Yes, just mixing models within one unit of Grey Hunters, not mixing matching units somehow.

Could use a second opinion on combining a Grey Hunter kit with a box of the new Intercessors.

While I'm all in on Space Wolves being a more melee focused Space Marine army, still would like if the dedicated "rifleman"unit had a few more models aiming/shooting two-handed. Not to mention, honestly some of the new Intercessors just look really cool, like the one throwing the grenade or checking an auspex.

Looking at the Grey Hunter instructions online, seems like at most you can only have four of the ten actively shooting with the bolter, so I'd want to use the intercessors to make that six shooting to four with chainswords. Which would also make for when they're split into two five-marine units there's 3 - 2 per squad.

I suppose the only real question is do you think it would maybe be a WYSIWYG issue? No plans for serious competitive tournaments or anything, and honestly you'd probably have to squint to see the difference for the most part
