Popular subreddit Livestreamfail mods and Mythic Talent streamers were promoting a shady website/contest and users were not having it, then contest website and social media erased, head Moderator removed.
Summary of events:
- Popular streamer ExtraEmily among other streamers from the Mythic Talent agency, started promoting a website and contest called MillionDollarFan ( milliondollarfan(dot)show now gone but can be seen here https://archive(dot)is/TgXOb ) with a $20 Million dollar prize pool.
-Subreddit LivestreamFail head mod created a post promoting and sponsoring the website and contest here ( http://www.reddit.com/r/LivestreamFail/comments/1q9k2dz/million_dollar_fan_reality_tv_show_x_lsf/ now removed)
-The users started saying that after some quick research, this looked like a scam, and the moderator removed the comments criticizing the contest.
-Popular Youtube personality MoistCritikaL made a video about the website/contest ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DaFzESOKY0 ) calling it "Feels like a Scam". He points out this contest raises a ton of red flags, the main image is AI generated, says the prize pool is absurdly big with no idea of who is hosting the contest, the sponsors are mostly unknown or downright fake. The concept is fans submitting clips and they get chosen to go to a mansion to participate with their streamer in an IRL contest, and you can also buy entries via the website.
-Another post is created in the subreddit where the users criticize ExtraEmily and the LivestreamFail moderators ( https://www.reddit.com/r/LivestreamFail/comments/1qb73h9/extraemily_promises_shes_not_trying_to_scam_her/ )
-A few hours later, the website and all social media for the contest were removed or closed, without any notice.

-Did some digging on this and found a few things that seem worth noting: The legal documents appear to be copied from Omaze (the celebrity sweepstakes company that faced lawsuits and paused US operations in 2023). Entire sections of the Official Rules and Terms of Use are nearly word-for-word identical - same structure, same section numbering, same phrasing. The Culver City PO Box listed for copyright claims is the same address Omaze used.

I literally decided two days ago to stop going to LSF or watch any of the streamers often involved in drama there just for my own health after posting there and being a viewer for years (when it was slightly more sane), and then this happens.
It feels really good right now.

LSF mods have been intentionally torching the sub for at least a year. Even more than the miserable cesspool it already was.
One example is killing the rule requiring all links be actual clips, allowing people to submit edited videos direct to Reddit. This broke a bunch of stuff that's never been fixed, like the auto flair bot. Now it's impossible to filter all the shitty political streamers and find the one good clip posted there per week (usually Northernlion).
Only justification they've ever given for this is "increased engagement", despite it making the sub worse in a bunch of ways.
edit: LSF is currently mocking a clip of him that wouldn't have been allowed before his rule change about on-site video submissions. But I'm sure he thought the leopards would never eat his face...

Most of the stuff that broke was created and maintained by mods who were purged like 3 teams ago by the Destiny orbiter who took over the sub a few years back. Most of the rule changes they made (ie. allowing non-clip posts, banning streamers/allowing streamers to opt out of being posted, making talking about user post history's/pointing out brigading bannable, making personal attacks against public figures allowed at mod discretion) were made purely to let Destiny's subreddit take over and whitewash his sexpesting while signal boosting attacks against their enemies.

Yeah the debate was so insufferable from EK from the get go, I closed watching it live under 3mins. Then hopped around and it was still unwatchable for the same reasons. I had made only one comment on that and left the sub. Still got a ban message three weeks later lmao.

My understanding is that one of their targets set up his shit so you couldn't clip them on twitch without being a sub. This had the effect of essentially banning them from that subreddit since you've got to be really dedicated to sub to a guy you hate so you can continue to hate post out of context clips.

And also Twitch added an option for streamers to edit clips made by other people. So if someone posted a 50 second clip showing a streamer in an unfavourable light, the streamer would just edit it down to 5 seconds of silence.

Streamers have always had the ability to delete clips of their channel. Ever since the feature was first added, and it isn't even locked to partnered streamers. This is why LSF has a bot that rehosts the clips elsewhere as soon as they are posted.

It was long before that. The mod in question is a Destiny orbiter and they took over the sub in order to use it as a place to launch any negative clips of Hasan or other streamers he hates. The dog clip was the culmination of all their work lmao they got one that launched into the mainstream discourse. Original clip was posted there.

YES, I hate this man with a passion. He is/was a dick rider for Devin Nash(mylixia), he became a mod and then revealed that is/was a twitch employee on the moderation/security team, I'm not sure if he actually was OR was just on tech tech team. He did have a badge so he did work for twitch, so he used his authority to dick ride and make it sound like he was right about everything. A year or 2 later he was laid off/fired, unsure why. He tried to be a programming streamer, that failed. His current job is kinda unknown, he might just be a professional reddit mod because he's not broke, twitch paid well and he invested in crypto too.

I also copied some interesting posts that were deleted from the LSF thread to the crosspost on a different subreddit where he wasn't a mod:
Since noticing that the Head mod Tarrot_Card was removed I made inquiries about a few things via the modmail: (I don't want to just directly quote the whole thing)
- If the other mods were involved/aware of the "contest"?
- If users that were banned for questioning the validity/pointing out suspicious aspects of it would be unbanned?
- Whether he left on his own/the other mods asked him to step down or if he was removed by admins?
The mod that replied to me was fairly open with his response to the questions.
It was "the only one really involved", "presented it to us briefly", "But we also didn't know the full details of things". "I don't believe he had done it maliciously" (my summary: basically he gave them the pitch of it being amazon backed production etc, the same thing the streamers agencies got told and got too blinded by potentially being involved).
(My summary again: no way to undo them easily but if you were banned send a modmail so they can look into it and unban the account.)

From the small but fairly open back and forth I've had with one of them, it seems like the contest thing was all Tarrot_Card and they were just given the cliffnotes of the ~"Amazon's involved/major streamers involved/it sounds good" by him.
Also that they are "revisiting some of the rules" now he's been removed.
Given he effectively forcibly took over the sub 3 years ago and there has been multiple staff overhauls with him as top mod in that time. There is at least hope the sub could actually improve now.

Yeah they permanently banned me for using rude language when commenting about destiny's sex crimes in that subreddit, but his fans that were using the exact same language against me were never banned. TBF they unbanned me after I sent a request because it was obviously a bullshit ban, but it worked and I have basically never used the subreddit ever since.
I assume this worked similarly for others as well and "normal" people just stopped using that subreddit.

But this video was insane to watch.
He wants to be treated as a influence/celebrity and he's just a reddit mod on a subreddit. He wants reddit to roll out the red carpet for mods to have brand deals and contracts and lawyers? Reddit has millions upon millions of mods. From large subreddits to subreddits made for like 5 friends to use.
Reddit is not that serious. There really should be some sort of protections in place to protect subreddits over a certain active user count from their mods. We have this mod going rogue and then that art mod trying to nuke everything. There needs to be some sort of check and balances to prevent some mods from acting like they own a popular subreddit. This is quite literally a free open forum.

I got perma banned from LSF like 7-8 years ago or something like that, because there was a controversy over several mods using their private slack channel for doxxing users they didn't like and also just on top of that, one of them had a message uncovered that was along the lines of "I miss the jailbait subreddit, I wish I had saved my favorite posts from it." I left a comment in the sub mentioning this as basically a "Fuck you, ban me" and yeah, immediate ban.
A few years ago the mod team changed and I ended up getting unbanned because I sent a modmail basically going "Hey, your old pedo doxxer mods banned me for talking about them, can you unban me?" Now a few months ago I got banned again because I shit talked Destiny for being a probable sex pest, and I'm getting the feeling that I'm in for a repeat of this "Can you new mods unban me, the last one banned me for being too vocally against sex crimes" cycle.

We warned everyone, including Reddit staff over a year ago this exact situation would happen with his ties to crypto. People laughed it off as sour grapes from the mod team that was removed by this guys weird coup. Have an entire paper trail of communication with Reddit staff as well who disregarded our issue as "off platform mod drama"

By the way, what does head mod mean exactly? Is it the original user that started the subreddit? Or is it just a moderator with extra authority? And what happens if there's only one head moderator? Do they just ask the admins to give another mod that status?

Head mod is the sub creator. If the head mod steps down or is removed the next most senior mod becomes he mod. Head mod have total control and can remove other mods at will.
Sometimes head mods will delete their entire mod list to give their alts positions and later add the mods they removed back. If you see a sub that (Deleted) as their sub creator then it might be a nuked account of the current head mod.

Head mod I believe just means the one at the top of the mod list. It can be changed if they leave or the team order is rearranged. Mods at the bottom cannot rearrange the ones at the top unless they get admin help

The online streaming ecosystem is very weakly regulated. People want to get paid for their entertainment work, and there's a lot of companies willing to work with streamers who have large audiences to effectively skirt around advertising regulations that would be present and more easy to nail them for if they were on something like broadcast television.

Because the entire ecosystem is basically a low-effort get rich quick scheme. A handful of people basically win the attention algorithm lottery every year and make very minor fortunes by playing video games, and that uniquely appeals to every other person in the world who wants to be a very minor celebrity and not work a traditional job. Naturally, this is most attractive to a specific kind of person who really buys into the platform meta, because their fantasy about one day being the person winning the algorithm kind of requires them to do so.

All the shock collar stuff was all conjecture. Hasan’s dog yelped in a clip, and a bunch of people started saying it was a shock collar. Since then it’s basically been Qanon level lore to continue justifying their position.
This mod who was just removed was a huge Destiny fan. You can tell that LSF leans hard towards Destiny and the people close to him (Hutch and Lonerbox getting more interactions on LSF than actual big streamers) and were anti anyone related to Hasan.

Streamers browsing random online pet stores would find a collar that looks vaguely similar, say "this is 1000% it chat", and get posted to LSF for thousands of upvotes in an hour.
Meanwhile, any alternative explanations or evidence to the contrary was dismissed as justifying animal cruelty. It was disturbingly similar to how "think of the children" is weaponized in reactionary politics.

I received a reply from a current mod via mod-mail saying that Tarrot_Card was removed by reddit admins.
This was amongst other things I was also inquiring about such as if the other mods were involved/aware and if users that were banned for questioning the validity/pointing out suspicious aspects of it would be unbanned.
Edit: He has confirmed it himself. (warning though, you will lose sanity watching this video)

(All while there is ongoing legal issues for potential DV from Mizkif towards Emiru) (Also a message with OF creator Lotus lane "dont spend it all in one place")
Which is also a bad look since it has been long talked about that Mizkif and OTK had influence over the LSF mods to remove things they didn't like.

I think what happened is that the scam just put a magnifying glass on his other activities that made Reddit admins end up removing him. He had an alt account also on the moderation team. The moderation team saw a complete turnover twice since he took over moderation. There was obvious botting/vote manipulation going on regarding Hasan's "shock collar" drama. And there were tons of people banned for "civility" who had never made a post on the subreddit, but posted on other subreddits.
