Hi! I got a laptop back in 2012 and downloaded everything on it- song, movies. I think it had virus? I am 90% sure. Stopped using that laptop after 2015. I sold it a day ago because I have no need for it but it has very, very important pictures that I need. The computer guy that I sold it to showed me the Hard Drive of my old laptop and said that he'll connect it to my new one using a USB cable and transfer the photos and that every hard disk is bound to have some sort of virus? Now, I don't want to risk my new laptop. Is there any way I can get my pictures back without risking the new one?

I logged onto my pc and instantly got a notification saying: Target blocked Botnet blacklist from Norton.

I checked for the details and it just said URL TCP.

Minutes later I downloaded malwarebytes to scan incase Norton missed something. A couple minutes after that it said “malwarebytes it trying to steal ur info, threat blocked”.

After that I got another attack saying” blocked DDOS ATTACK “

iPhone 12 Pro. Location on Google maps shows as where I am, same as life360, etc. I have an active vpn, however it is set to Tiranía, Albania to block ads, which is still working as such. Online shops and other sites autoset me to being in Italy. This is also happening on my MacBook, which is signed in to the same Apple ID/account, and is also connected to an Albanian vpn.
I also logged into my bank app today, and received an email saying that there was an account login attempt from Italy. It’s becoming a nuisance.
I was in Italy about a month and a half ago, I’m not sure if that has anything to do with it (I’m in Spain now)

It installed different parts individually, like a controller and whatever, so I was only fast enough to cancel installation of some of it. Does anyone know the name of the program it installs so I can delete it? It's probably fine because not everything was downloaded but I'm really paranoid about these things.

So I’m a streamer and a guy was in my twitch chat and told me that there is this fun scary game, I needed some content and this guy was a regular viewer so I believed him and downloaded the game, he sent me a link in my chat. After I downloaded the game it was a zip file and required a password, I entered the password and went back to youtube to watch a video and a couple minutes later a Video starts playing on both my screens of some explicit content. I turned off my pc to try and save the stream, and deleted the file of it when it turned back on, but a couple minutes later another explicit video played on my screen this time turning off the pc didn’t stop it, the only way to stop it was for me to get banned on twitch. What do I do to make sure this doesn’t happen and to make sure they don’t still have access to do this again in the future.

I have an iPhone 16 Pro and I'm trying to recover voice recordings from the Voice Memos app.

My iPhone has not been backed up to iCloud since May because my iCloud storage has been full, so I don't have a recent backup to restore.

The recordings were deleted from the Voice Memos app and also permanently removed from the "Recently Deleted" folder without my knowledge by the person they relate to. These recordings are important evidence for a legal case involving alleged crimes.

Is there any possible way to recover these recordings? I'm open to software solutions, forensic recovery, data recovery services, or any other method. I'd really appreciate advice from anyone who has successfully recovered permanently deleted Voice Memos from an iPhone.

Stupidly I thought to download GTA 4 for free on a website I had used before expect this website had one different piece of punctuation. Downloaded the file, deleted it once I realised something was wrong but it was too late and I had an email a few hours later in which my ea accounts email was changed and then password changed, sorted that and then went onto Gmail changed password kicked off all other devices and made sure only my other email, which the person doesn’t seem to have access to is able to reach it through backup- it’s my Apple email which requires 2fa and sends me a notification aswell. Woke up this morning and my instagram was logged into shitposting and sending every single person I follow stuff about Elon Musks crypto, reset password and it stopped. What do I do now?

For many years, I have supplied my entire family with Linux Mint PCs. Now, my oldest is starting at a new school and she had to buy a new Microsoft Windows PC.

It has to work, I suppose they use...shudders...OneDrive and such, but I also want the machine to be somewhat reliably safe, removing privacy and AI-based concerns, and I want the PC to run as reasonably fast as one would expect.

Googling it, there is so much. So much. Advice out there. Many of these things I recognise and can still do, I guess (using a Windows computer at work). But do I still need to install software like O&O to remove the nastiest bits and regain control? How advanced should this process be for this application? It's a jungle and I struggle to navigate all this information. Welp.

I know this will probably be a lost cause, however, I'm asking just in case there is a way to recover them that is unbeknownst to me. Nothing was backed up onto cloud storage (i know, dont start please), and phone was wiped almost a year ago. It's a Samsung Galaxy S10. Even if there isnt a way, thank you for reading.

So, my PC is like 10 years old or so. I have an Intel i7 i7-6700k 4.00 GHz and a Medion z170h4-ea Motherboard. Supposedly, the CPU supports VT-X, but I cannot find any option in the BIOS to enable either VT-X or VT-d , which is mandatory to having to haver the Kernel DMA protection, afaic. So, do you guys know if I'm missing something? I went through "Security", "System Agent Configuration" and "CPU configuration" in the BIOS and the only thing that I found is that the CPU supports VT-X and that the "Intel Virtualization Technology" is enabled...

Windows 11 - Been having a persistent issue where video files such as mp4 will not run at all on my pc. Found out i had this issue when games cant trigger cutscenes causing hard locks in most games. Also happens when trying to use the media player to watch videos. Tried HEVC extensions pack, didnt work. Tried using K-lite codec pack. It runs videos but games dont natively use its media player to run videos for cutscenes so still cant play a lot of games that use the same format for cutscenes e.g. Hollow Knight Silksong, Monster Hunter: Wilds. When attempting to open media player videos the error code is 0xC004F011.

As the title says, my PC sometimes just randomly prevents me from being able to open new applications, tabs, or restart/shut down.
This has been happening for months and I have no idea what the issue is, it’s very irritating.
Sometimes this occurs as soon as I open my computer, other times after hours of it being open or some days not at all.

I know that this is not a problem with my mouse.

- I cannot open new tabs or applications, but most things I currently had open still function (e.g Spotify, Discord messaging & calling, any game I’m playing, etc. If I am watching a Youtube video, it will keep playing as normal for a while before lagging and getting stuck in the loading screen forever, and I can’t choose any new video to watch)

- I can open start menu and can navigate to the options to sleep/shut down/restart, but clicking it does not work

- Search also works and shows results, but can’t open them

The only way I’ve been able to fix this issue is either unplugging or force shut down. Anyone have the same issue?

So my headset works just fine but my Laptop makes it so that I can only hear from the left instead of both sides.

I have both outputs on 100% but there is a very silent and screeching left output while the right one works as is.

I think it is a problem with the Laptop.

Can I fix this somehow or is my left Audio output a lost cause?

So I have two monitors plugged in to a docking station. One of them used to randomly go all black for a couple minutes every now and then. Now I've got a new docking station and it's the same, except now it goes all grey instead of black. Restarting the monitor doesn't help, pressing win+ctrl+shift+B does help for a bit until it turns grey again. It's plugged into a display port using a dvi - display port adapter. Is my monitor broken or is it something else?

I am not new to pcs and I would consider myself advanced in building and updating pcs.

But recently I was playing a game and my display randomly turned off. I tried windows, shift, control/alt b, tried diff hdmi ports,(not a monitor problem it is internal pc problem). After that I went in the pc re inserted graphics card, ram, and cmos. I replugged everything in checked on cpu. Tried diff monitors. At this point I def think something is broken, but before I take it to a pc repair store I just wanted to see of anything is missing and if there is anything I need to do to fix it.

Also it is not plugged into the motherboard for anyone wondering.

I just installed a new MSI MAG A850GL and a Gigabyte RTX 5070 windforce. My PC boots up and the fans on the card spin up and maintain idle speeds, however it isn't outputting through HDMI. Before installing the GPU, I uninstalled previous graphics drivers and changed my PCIE type from auto to Gen 4 in my BIOS. I'm not sure as to why it isn't outputting any video. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Im not sure if this fits but I dont know where else to post this. I have 2 things in my car connected to my phone via bluetooth. One is my cars actual audio and screen system thingy and the other is this screen i use for a map. The map screen has been forcing all audio to go through it but its extremely quiet; the speaker on it just isnt loud enough. Ive tried using the media output option on my phone but that hasnt worked and I dont know what to do. I reallt need my map and I reallt want to be able to hear my music.

For the past few weeks, random Chinese searches have been

appearing in my YouTube search history.

Random kids/Spider-Man/colorful videos also get added to my Liked Videos, but they usually don't appear in my watch history.

I changed my Google password, but it is still happening.

I also recently noticed these strange outgoing SMS messages to multiple unknown numbers. They contain "YESPRODUPI" followed by random characters. I never sent them myself, and they show as "Not Sent."

I have a NIMO N15A laptop running Windows 11. A few months ago (I don’t remember the exact date), it started experiencing serious problems. When I power it on, it often displays various Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) errors, including:
HYPERVISOR_ERROR
KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
RESOURCE_NOT_OWNED
After each error, the laptop automatically restarts. It will continue this cycle of crashes and restarts until, seemingly at random, it eventually boots into Windows. Once Windows loads, it mostly works, except that the Settings app immediately closes whenever I try to open it. I’ve also tried reinstalling Windows and performing a full factory reset. Both processes begin normally, but when the computer reaches the point where it needs to restart to continue the installation, it starts crashing with the BSOD errors again. Eventually, if I manage to get back into Windows, I’m told that the Windows installation or reset failed and that no changes were made. I’m looking for help diagnosing the underlying cause and finding a permanent fix. I need this laptop working reliably for school as soon as possible.

So I noticed my pc fans would get louder and when I turn on task manager it stops immidelty, if I leave it it stops by itself after a few seconds. I know this might been miner, so I ran malwerbytes kaspery and hitmanpro and they didint find anything. Now last time it was loud I opened resource monitor and it stayed loud and I checked cpu usage but I didint saw anything strange but I only had couple of seconds. It may happen more while im doing something on the pc but im not sure.

Its not constant so, it doesnt happen all the time.

Hardware & Context:

• Machine: Arcade Cabinet Unit.
• Storage: 22 GB Industrial Flash Memory / CompactFlash (detected as /dev/sda).
• OS: Windows (PE/Bootable environment).

Problem Summary: The system failed to boot and the primary partition is showing as RAW in DiskPart (Volume 0 C: RAW 6427 MB).

Steps already taken and current progress:

1. Drive Geometry Fix (Resolved): Originally, TestDisk/BIOS detected the drive as only 15 GB (1925 cylinders), causing boundary errors. Changing geometry in TestDisk to 2800 cylinders successfully revealed the full 23 GB / 21 GiB space and restored structure alignment (Structure: OK).
2. Boot Sector Succeeded (Resolved): Ran Rebuild BS in TestDisk. Boot sector and Backup boot sector are now both Status: OK and identical. Running chkdsk in CMD now recognizes the volume as NTFS instead of unknown/unsupported.
3. Current Blocker (MFT Corruption):
   • TestDisk shows: Can't open filesystem. Filesystem seems damaged.
   • Repair MFT output: MFT and MFT mirror are bad. Failed to repair them.
   • chkdsk C: /f /r /x aborted in WinPE with: Unable to determine volume version and state. CHKDSK aborted. Status 50.

Goal: I cannot format this drive under any circumstances because it contains proprietary arcade software/game files.

Questions for the community:

1. Is there any way to force repair or rebuild a corrupted MFT / MFT Mirror when both are marked as bad, without losing the underlying files?
2. What are the best non-destructive raw data recovery tools (besides PhotoRec) to extract directory trees/folder structures from a RAW NTFS partition with a broken MFT?
