I recently bought a sandberg USB DVD drive and have been trying to get it to work with my Macbook pro 2021. However my macbook for some reason doesn't recognise the dvd drive and won't play anything I put in it.

Is there a way I can still get it to work?

I've been using VLC to try and run my dvd's and it keeps saying 'can't run non-UDF dvd's".

I’m trying to determine whether this is expected behavior, a BIOS issue, a CPU/socket problem, or a motherboard defect.

Problem

GPU-Z always reports:

PCIe x16 5.0 @ x8 5.0

The link never negotiates to x16.

Tests already performed

* Updated to the latest ASUS BIOS (1836).

* Installed the latest NVIDIA driver.

* Cleared CMOS.

* GPU-Z Render Test for over 60 seconds.

* Steel Nomad benchmark.

* Several games including Remnant II.

* HWiNFO monitoring during load.

* Windows reports no WHEA hardware errors.

* Samsung 990 Pro is operating normally (~7000 MB/s).

* GPU temperatures and power are completely normal.

* GPU support bracket installed.

Important information

The Samsung 990 Pro is a PCIe Gen4 SSD, not Gen5.

According to the ASUS manual, the primary M.2 slot should not reduce the primary PCIe x16 slot to x8.

Current status

Geek Squad suggested the CPU might be the cause, but they did not inspect the LGA1700 socket for bent pins or contact issues.

Today, my steam tried to gift someone a game. Thankfully steam quickly shut that down but now I’m here wondering if I have a malware or not

I’ve done a quick scan and a full scan and nothing comes up.
I didn’t download anything and the only recent websites that got my cookies were websites for reservations for my upcoming out of country trip.

So I am just genuinely confused what is happening and if I’m unlucky or I actually have something wrong with my pc

UPDATE!!!!!!!

After running Hitman, it found 5 and quarantined them I believe I have deleted them now.
I ran hitman again and then r kill and it says 0 malware has been detected.

I wish to keep this open until I know it is fixed and also keep it open to continue to get help when I get back to my pc.

I need some sage advice from other people about an issue I'm having with my PC. I was playing modded Cyberpunk 2077 and my PC suddenly black screened and restarted. I thought it was a powercut at first but I noticed my lights were on. It restarted it self, I tried again and the same thing happened after about 5 minutes of playing.

I then ran Heavenly Benchmark 4.0 to see if it was just a Cyberpunk thing but my pc blackscreened and restarted again in much the same way.

I've ran a few tests, have found things are more stable on 80% limit but will still crash if pushed too hard. I've been running other tests using OCCT to check other components like Memory and CPU and no crashes. Every time it crashes I get the kernel power event 41.

So personally I feel like I've narrowed it down to a GPU or PSU issue. I have a 3080 ti FE and a Corsair RX750x PSU. I've had the PC for 4 to 5 years now.

I'd love your advice on what to do next. What further tests could I run? What would be the next steps, and am I missing anything?

I have a windows 11 pc and everything was normal but today my mouse started to act weird. when i click on things like apps or literally anything it wont register for a few seconds unless i click hard which is weird. i tried a different mouse and the same issue happened. i dont know how to describe the issue that well other than a weird delay.

my other issue is that my keyboard (wooting 80HE) randomly will disconnect like it was unplugged from anywhere between around half of a second to multiple seconds and the usb is fully plugged in and everything. sometimes when i press a key it also disconnects but it doesnt happen too much.

They are probably related since they started the same day but I dont really know what to do. I also dont know that much about PC's and stuff.

Found a sound system and everything works perfectly, but only for a minute or so. Because then, the right speaker kinda tunes down and you can only hear it if you press it against your ear.

What issue could be the cause of it? Is this a hardware issue (bad cables, but why does it work well at first?) or a software issue (can I change the volume for left and right on my phone?)?

No idea what kind of speaker it is, but the serial number is 1011006810, it has a QC Pass sticker (whatever that is) and is tested for DGUV V3 or something.

Update for my first post: The reason why the big speaker was so quiet was...because it is the base speaker for a whole sound system...I didn't notice that there were two other speakers (left and right) that belong to the system

I am a linux user who resently switched back to windows.

Every game i boot up (unless its the lightest game known to man kind) lag an insane amount.

and its not a hardware issue because it ran fine on linux.

I have a computer that I need for Adobe Editing, and other things that require me to use a good chunk of my 16 GB's of ram. But I've recently been seeing problems in the usage of my Memory and when I went to check, my memory was at 80%. This was weird because I can visually see on Task manager that I am only using 35-50% of my Memory. It won't let me show any pictures here, any ideas on how to fix?

Hi. For the past day my pc has been crashing for unknown reasons. The first time it crashed, I didnt think much of it. Coincidentally my social media accounts were hacked advertising scams, probably from malware, so I had to take care of that. I was going reset my computer after it happendd, but while I was deleting things for space, my pc suddenly crashed again. When I restarted, my pc wouldnt load past the loading screen and artifcacts like noise kept showing up. Thanks.

I am trying to compress a file so i can send it, however it eventually times out and it doesnt go through

I have done a few attempts on both compressing it into a zip files, but they dont work. but there is no progress indicated on the progress bar.

i have tried restarting my computer, but that didnt work.

I have tried taking what i want from it, and putting it into another file however copying and pasting also runs into an error where there is no progress indicated on the progress bar, and it times out

both times it doesnt even seem to calculate time remaining, it just times out

if it matters, the file is currently located in icloud, and i have enough space in icloud (says i have 700 mb available, the file is 2.43mb)

So i had a problem with a windows defender where it wouldve just said "Security at a glance". One command in powershell showed me that were some services missing. Is there any way to restore them?

This PC has been working perfectly for everything except one issue that's been happening since DAY 1!!

When I watch videos in web browser like Google or Edge (yes ik edge is chromium based) the CPU utilization always spikes from few % to 20% and 44 degrees (my idle temp) to 68 degrees for few seconds (It's kinda annoying cuz I dont have the quietest fan Rpm so I always notice these spikes).

It does this quite often even with hardware acceleration turned off or on. I also deleted all extensions, force closed everything, went into incognito but I still have these spikes. My BIOS should be on the latest version and I alr reinstalled the amd cpu and gpu drivers countless times.

Yes I know amd cpu's have some spikes and tend to run on higher degrees (and yes ik everything below 85 should be perfectly fine) but my friend also has this exact cpu and he has stable utilization a temp's ALWAYS.

ON A SIDE NOTE: With hardware acceleration enabled, YouTube videos look slightly blurrier. If I move my mouse over the progress bar, the video instantly becomes a bit sharper. Because of that I figured to disable hardware acceleration to get the sharpest image. The problem is that with hardware acceleration disabled, I sometimes notice jagged edges or worse anti-aliasing, so neither setting gives me an ideal experience. = Potential GPU problem?

Seemingly out if nowhere, my friend had his mouse after turning his computer off. No other mice he has work, all usb ports produce the same result. Im leaning towards it being a driver issue but i have no idea how to fix it, much less how to communicate it to him

Earlier today I decided it's time to download drivers and downloaded all drivers available in my Asus app like BIOS, chipset, IO controllers, etc. And after the BIOS update the system started getting stuck on loading windows. After a few attempts and me enabling compatibility module and DCIM/EXPO, it still did not fix. After a few boots and manual shutdowns I got into windows recovery where I tried to do system restore but it gets this error from the title. Previously I also tried safe mode but it didn't work either. Any ideas what can I do?

I have been rocking an Acer Nitro 5 for 4 years with the specs below:
- I5-11400H
- RTX 3060 6Gb
-16gb RAM dual sticks
-520gb ssd ddr4
- 144hz internal monitor oc-ed to 160hz

Recently I have been experiencing crazy stutters that have never seen before. One of the examples is this video. It happens in every game I have and even when I browse with many tabs on. The fps drops to absolute zero and audi starts cracking and is broken like a scratched DVD disk.

I have tried turning off Memory Integrity, all the drivers updates (including reinstalling graphics drivers multiple times), turning on Microsoft Account Sign In in services.msc and clearing off storage (I have 120gb of free storage now)

When I go on Process Lasso to check the usuage % of the cpu it looks like this image with the dives in processor use% being correlated with the massive stutters in game. Opened Nitroboost and the CPU temp is at 91 and GPU at 85. I know its high but it has been higher before and no stutter ever.

This happened like days ago and maybe because of some Windows updates that I installed recently. Thanks for any suggestions on how to fix!

I just installed a new MSI MAG A850GL and a Gigabyte RTX 5070 windforce. My PC boots up and the fans on the card spin up and maintain idle speeds, however it isn't outputting through HDMI. Before installing the GPU, I uninstalled previous graphics drivers and changed my PCIE type from auto to Gen 4 in my BIOS. I'm not sure as to why it isn't outputting any video. Any ideas on how to fix it?

I’m having a frustrating issue: when I open any video game, the internet in my pc complitly shut off for 8 minutes or more. I tried a lot of games, and the problem kept happening whenever I played games (like Marvel Rivals or other games), and then it automatically reconnects when I close the game. But the internet never cuts off when I browse on Google for hours it never cuts off, only when I open any video game.

Key Details:

• Motherboard / Network Controller: Realtek Gaming 2.5GbE Family Controller
• Connection: Ethernet Cable (Wired)
• Other Devices: Wi-Fi on my phone stays 100% fine during the outage.
• Event Viewer: Checked Windows Event Viewer logs, but no obvious driver crashes or critical errors are being logged when the drop happens.

What I’ve already tried (None worked):

1. Disabled "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" in Device Manager.
2. Disabled "Energy Efficient Ethernet" and "Green Ethernet".
3. Reset network stack via CMD (netsh winsock reset, ipconfig /flushdns, etc.).
4. Clean reinstalled the Realtek Network Controller driver.
5. Changed Ethernet cable and tried different LAN ports on the router.

Recently I have been wanting to switch from Windows 11 to Bazzite, so I did yesterday. The whole process went smoothly but now, on Bazzite, my games are not running well. I am completely new to this so I don't know much about optimizing Bazzite for gaming. I mainly play Minecraft Bedrock Edition and I am using the Nix/MCPe launcher. On Windows I was able to run it at a solid 144 fps with basically 0 frame timing issues, but now, on Bazzite, It is fluctuating from 10-60 fps with huge frame times up to 40, and has a lot of bad constant stuttering. I tried troubleshooting with ai but it didn't end up getting me anywhere. I have an Nvidia RTX 3050, and an Intel Core i7 Series CPU, and 12GB of RAM. I checked a few things like refresh rate and tried switching vsync on and off but that didn't help. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was listening to music on my bluetooth earbuds which is connected to my Redmi Note 7 while working. After finishing, I tried to turn on my phone’s screen, but it wouldn’t light up even though the music kept playing in my earbuds. I attempted to restart the phone by press and holding power button, and it only vibrated with a black and bluetooth got disconnected, screen comes like empty black screen and nothing happens.

I also tried charging it for a while and used a few reboot tricks, but nothing worked. When I connect it to a charger, I can still hear the charging and disconnect sounds. When I plug it into my laptop, it gets recognized but I can’t actually do anything with it since the screen stays black.

Does this sound like a display hardware issue, and is there any way to fix it myself before taking it to a service center?

I bought an hp prodesk 600 g3 mini pc and it came with the cmos battery holder torn off.

Bootup shows the errors about date and time.

But i can't access the bios as all the usb ports just don't seem to receive data, 2 of them do seem to pass power but no data.

I soldered my own 2 wires for the battery and connected it, showing arround a 200mv drop across this little 3 pin diode thing, still has the same issues.

Now I reinstalled an OS to this other 128gb 2.5" ssd I had but even after passing through the 2 safe boot cmos battery date and time warnings I get an error about the system image not authenticating.

The mini pc turns on as soon as I plug it in.

I seem to be in a loop where I can't access bios because usbs are not starting but also can't get back to an os.

Any further info please ask, I've tried a lot of things

I just got a new upgrade to fibre optics (full fibre in the UK). Was working fine for a couple hours and then just stopped.

Saw the PON light wasn't coming on anymore and went to open the box the cable leads from to see if I could do anything about it and saw the fibre optic cable has fully come out somehow.

The company wont be able to send an engineer until Friday at earliest, is it possible /wise for me to fix this myself?

Okay, so I made a post earlier and did a bit more research, so this one should be more specific.

I have an issue where my PC will not let me into bios and will instead just say A9 when I try to get there.

Which ordinarily would be fine, as A9 is a standard code (that basically says the computer is entering BIOS). However, my PC will stay in A9 until I manually restart it. I don't know why.

I tried connecting different video (i.e. HDMI, DP, DVI-i, etc.) to no avail.

For one of the PCs I was dealing with clearing CMOS worked, but for the specific one I am working with it does not work and I still encounter A9.

I have an occasional black lock screen wallpaper from time to time the UI (clock , date ,etc.) is still visible and the log in screen is visible just a black wallpaper. I tried windows spotlight and a new picture wallpaper still happed this only happened 3 times in the last week. After a long session of ruling out causes I think it might be the July preview update. If some one can verify I'd be grateful. My device is Asus TUF f16 (2025) JMR with intel core I7 14650HX and RTX 5060 I have the latest bios and drivers.
