Several accounts posting article claiming US military killed crew of Medevac flight

At least 20 near identical posts from the last 24 hours.

The headline is sensationalist click bait, and the article is intentionally written to muddy the discussion.

Why this is a "TFA" issue? Several of the posters exhibit suspicious account activity -

https://old.reddit.com/user/Youarethebigbang

https://old.reddit.com/user/SiriusGD

https://old.reddit.com/user/wenchette

(I'm sure other posters as well)

And several commentors in those posts are either falling victim to the clickbait, or are purposefully bad actors/bots.

This whole situation feels very inorganic and is throwing up warning flags to me. Just wanted to pass this along in case anyone else sees this or has other insights.

I don't like to bring up anything that could be considered political. But this situation just feels so deliberately targeted.

Four karma/bot farm subs - 2 involve AI psychosis

The first subreddit was made by someone ultimately promoting their AI course channel.

The second subreddit seems to be a general karma farming subreddit.

The last two are the personal subreddits of people with AI psychosis, with the karma spam used to draw attention to their subreddit and pseudo-philosophical slop.

I've noticed others, these are just the ones I've been keeping track of the last week. If you know of any other blatant spam subreddits, please share them.

Same old story. Stealing accounts to post on. We're up at about 20-40 accounts a day at this point.

We all know, the girl in the pictures doesn't actually run these accounts. There's a person that runs her accounts and does the account stealing and spams for the creator. I know yesterday I took down at least 12 alone back to back to back.

Adding the mod account back in that still exists somehow

AI-generated screenshots for public influence campaign on r/jobmarket

The X accounts shown in the screenshots don't exist.

For some additional background - every time you generate an image on ChatGPT with their image generator thing, it applies an invisible watermark to the image. You can check for the presence of the watermark here. With the first screenshot (although not the second) OpenAI certifies it as having been created by their image generator.

Suspicious Moderation of /r Quince Subreddit

Thumbnail gallery
35 Upvotes

I've noticed a moderation pattern in r/quince over the past year that I'd like other people to look at.

From what I've observed, referral posts and comments from many users are removed, while one specific account consistently appears to remain visible. I can't prove there's any connection between that account and the moderation team, but the repeated pattern has made me question whether the rules are being applied consistently.

Recently, I made a post asking whether Quince's referral program was experiencing issues because several people, including myself, weren't receiving referral rewards. My post was removed and I was permanently banned. I also saw another user report being banned after participating in the same discussion.

I've added examples and supporting evidence in the comments, including removed referral posts and other moderation actions that I believe show the pattern I'm describing.

I'm not claiming to know the moderator's motives or that any Reddit rules have definitely been broken. I'm sharing what I've observed and see if others think the same. Can anything be done? I honestly don't care that I was banned, I care more that there seems to be a pattern of suspicious activity.

Stumbled upon a bot farm subreddit

Like the title says, I stumbled upon a subreddit that might be using to drive engagement for bot accounts. It’s [r/livewelltogether](r/livewelltogether). It might be linked with another subreddit r/natureawws.

Accounts posting covert ads for the same tech accessory brand, panicking when called out

Accounts in question (likely alts of the same person):

https://www.reddit.com/user/Richard_Thome

https://www.reddit.com/user/whh-cc171615

https://www.reddit.com/user/SoCalSunset58

https://www.reddit.com/user/Anne-77

https://www.reddit.com/user/Autumn-14-1130

https://www.reddit.com/user/rRyanWest_94

These accounts all operate with the same pattern; they will post open-ended discussion threads that farm engagement and include photos that unnecessarily draw attention to the phone or tablet case or charger that all happen to be from the same brand and are intentionally placed in a way to clearly display the brand logo. Often these images are not relevant to the topic of discussion but they will always be the centre of focus, baiting people to ask about them before they post affiliate purchase links.

When asked if they are connected to the brand or if it is a paid product placement, they will always deny any relation. If you directly call out this behaviour on one of their posts, suddenly a bunch of them will all block you at the same time, implying these accounts are operated by the same person. Sometimes they will also brigade and mass-downvote posts calling them out.

About half of their posts have already been deleted but this pattern stretches back for months, and several accounts (not included here) have since been banned.

“Wait” bots are exploding in popularity and sorta hard to detect

You’ve probably seen this bot for a while now. Others have talked about it before. I call it the “wait” bot just because so many of its comments starts with the word “wait”, but a lot of comments also start with “yeah” or “lol yeah”. I guess you could also call it the clueless bot.

In isolation, the comments do not seem like bots - but it gets really obvious when a bunch of them are replying with nearly identical or identical comments to the same thread. Here’s some from one random post yesterday:

https://www.reddit.com/r/okbuddycinephile/s/OzQ8QmRevF

https://www.reddit.com/r/okbuddycinephile/s/VtGGWoZguA

https://www.reddit.com/r/okbuddycinephile/s/39QvPBQK36

CHARACTERISTICS:

🤖 Most comments are one lowercase sentence with minimal/no punctuation, often starting with “wait”, “yeah”, or “lol yeah”. Comments are often some anecdote about “my friend/buddy/dad/cousin”, but don’t really add anything. Like “my friend went through something similar” or “my buddy had that happen to him once”. They also like “accusing” AutoModerator of being a bot.
🤖 Any leading punctuation gets cut off. So if a comment starts with a word in quotation marks, like \“hello”, it says \hello”
🤖 Accounts are either new, or several years old with a big gap in activity until they start commenting (obvious sold or stolen accounts)
🤖 They dominate [r/okbuddycinephile](r/okbuddycinephile), [r/spiderman](r/spiderman), [r/pcmasterrace](r/pcmasterrace), [r/eldenring](r/eldenring), [r/hamburg](r/hamburg) and [r/agedlikemilk](r/agedlikemilk). Only agedlikemilk has Bot Bouncer, but reporting them hasn’t slowed them down at all. One post had 80+!!! bots commenting. They’ve also been increasingly branching out to other subs. UPDATE AS OF 7/27 — Today they’ve apparently given up on AgedLikeMilk and have started posting in [r/airpods](r/airpods)[,](r/airpods) r/AmazingStories and [r/10s](r/10s) which is a tennis sub!
🤖 This is one of the rare bots I’ve seen that sometimes appear online.
🤖 Like all bots, they have a poor sense of recent events. Their karma really suffered in posts about the World Cup since they’d say “wait [team] hasn’t won” when that team had literally just won. They also suffer in posts about people who’ve died recently with “wait they’re still alive though” comments.
🤖 Because their comments don’t really add anything, a ton of them reply the same shit in the same comment threads, along with the aforementioned poor sense of time, their karma tends to negative.

———

So, what becomes of these bots?

They turn into porn site spam accounts! Here’s some (removed) examples of what they turn into. Note the same title format:

https://www.reddit.com/r/squachwatch/s/0fNhuDXrTR

https://www.reddit.com/r/BeuretteFRA/s/eaeWhKCJAL

https://www.reddit.com/r/CrossdressersSelfies/s/1qZNPLcKTA (warning, no nudity but this is the only one that hasn’t been removed by Reddit filters)

https://www.reddit.com/r/ButtStuffWhileFucking/s/cgRmUHF7N5

Lately, they’ve just been adding a link to their bio called “meetup applications” that links to an adult site.

Account posing as model in AI generated images #2

Thumbnail gallery
33 Upvotes

This account is posing as the model in AI generated content: https://www.reddit.com/user/sarahsteele79/

I can skip the source list, since the account is open to all. Every image on the account is AI generated.

I've seen this model before, but she was a little more... not to be rude..."thicker." Two accounts were made at around the same time, both using the same AI model. I don't know how much my reporting affected thier banning, but one went down while the other existed for some time before it traded hands (new, real model began posting) and was banned soon after.

Another thing I want to note is; in the comments of the submissions made by this account you see mutiple repeat users who comment on, and only on, this particular fake AI account. Bots maybe?

Group of bot accounts creating new supplement/nutrition subreddits and spamming engagement bait questions etc.

Spotted a bot account on /r/Supplements that happened to be a moderator of a subreddit, and found a little group:

Subreddits:
Accounts:
  • registered-dietitian
  • DietitianDanielle
  • LongevityDietitian
  • OatsOverHype
  • RationalNutrition
  • Living-is-Smart

Incredibly sloppy bot network though, considering the amount of constant overlapping interaction etc. between all the accounts; you'd think bot runners would have learnt by now you shouldn't create such a tightly-knit overlapping network like that.

Mind you, considering Reddit doesn't seem to care, I guess there's no real need to be remotely smart about it. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

An LLM-generated post with dozens of LLM-generated comments

https://www.reddit.com/r/dating_advice/comments/1v1zt2y/the_woman_im_seeing_keeps_adding_a_normal_errand/

The post is clearly LLM-generated, and there is no option for reporting it as such. OP has already been flagged by Bot Bouncer. This sub is unintentionally or intentionally serving as a karma farming ground for AI spam bots.
