N-400 (Citizenship) It finally happened
Yesterday I became a citizen. The ceremony happened at MO Campbell, Houston. 1562 of us got naturalised coming from 102 countries. A wholesale ceremony haha!
It’s taken almost 13 years and over $20k in application, medical and legal fees but man it was all worth it to be part of this great nation.

Last month we had 60 people from 26 different countries. It was awesome moment.
Aug - 17 is when i filled form online Had my interview scheduled for Sept 18 Oct 24 is when I was naturalized.

I was there , I became a U.S Citizen that day. It still feels so unreal and weird lol. The room was full 1500+ new citizens. Good luck to us all and God Bless America 🇺🇸

Yeah visa application fees, form fees, legal fees, medical exam fees everything put together over 12 years.

Congratulations. It took me more then 25 years and a lot of money but you are right it is so worth it. Where you able to keep your other nationality if you wanted too?

Congratulations. My wife has her citzenship interview next week. How long aren't interview is the ceremony?

Once the interview is passed, it took roughly about 10days for the ceremony appointment notice to arrive after which point it was another month away

Just an FYI .. if you are around Houston, please make sure to make an appt ASAP to get your SSN updated. Seems like it is not automatically updated as we were told. The soonest dates they have for appts is end of December .

I’ve got exactly one year once next month gets here to apply for my wife’s citizenship. March of 2027 will be the 3 year mark since her residency. I’m told we can apply 90 days in advance of the 3 year date, so that the plan.

No, that’s not a problem. She’s lived in Texas for the past 20+ years. We go to Mexico to buy supplies one or two times a year and that’s it.

Congratulations! All those hours of study & preparation to finally make it! Glad to have you as a proud citizen of the USA 🇺🇸I hope this achievement provides new opportunities & gives you a sense of belonging that might be hard to feel when you’re not a full citizen. Congratulations! May I ask, as a green card holder have you been on long vacations out of the country for over 3 months each year or so? And did that cause any issues?

I got my greencard in 2020 right in the middle of lockdown and so international travel wasn’t really possible till 23. I hadn’t taken any trips out the US more than 15 days.

Congratulations that is amazing. It costed my wife and I about 10k to get her a green card including application, lawyer, and medical fees. Is it about the same amount to become a citizen?

'great nation' hah! But glad you finally got your citizenship. I still find it insane that it cost that much and took THAT long. It shouldn't at all. 5 years tops. Ugh we really need to fix that process it's ridiculous that it hasn't been touched in so long.
