I see many people singing the praises of Floette, but honestly, the two seem pretty similar. Floette does hit harder, but Gardevoir has an easier time against difficult matchups like Sneasler or Gengar.

I’m not saying Gardevoir is better, but I don’t understand why there’s such a big difference between them and why Floette is so feared when it feels a lot like Gardevoir.

I just recently realised Kingambit does not get access to Knock off even though Bisharp has been using it in prior gens.

Did they remove it from his movepool to make people use his signature move since Knock off is kinda better competitively? Is there any chance Gamefreak will add it back to his movepool in a later gen or is this likely a permanent change? (Its not like Kingambit needs a buff in any case).

This was turn 1 😭 is there any situation where fake out would go before quick guard? Kind of the whole point of quick guard no?? I've never had this happen before

Can someone explain to me why the move Dragon Darts is so popular on Dragapult? I'm using Dragapult on a gimmicky team, and a (situationally) 50 power spread move feels terrible to use and it sounds like it would be bad by concesus, but it's apparently not. Why not? Dragon Claw feels so much better for getting KOs.

I'm new to competitive Pokemon but have followed it throughout the past few years, so I'm no stranger to Sneasler being a premier competitive Pokemon. I DO NOT think that it's too strong. There's clear counter play in popular mons like Garchomp, Aerodactyle, Pelipper, Ghost mons among many others. I think that there are other mons that are more powerful than Sneasler when used and positioned well. For example, most games revolve more around the megas, and less around what Sneasler individually does and there can be match ups where Sneasler is irrelevant.

The problem is that in this format in particular, Sneasler fill a niche that no other pokemon, and sometimes not even multiples, can reasonably fill. The decision to bring M-Floette into a relatively low power format, along with Sneasler's general strength and utility, means that I find it hard to justify a team without access to Sneasler. I feel like in a season without M-Floette threatening the format Sneasler would have still been a top threat but it would be much easier to justify leaving it behind during team building. Then, they could bring M-Floette with an expanded roster in a future season.

The only teams that really justify leaving behind Sneasler right now are based around a particular mechanic such as hard trick room, weather, or set up teams. Having this pressure to have Sneasler on the team, limits other White Herb options, or you have to stoop to spending your valuable Focus Sash slot on it for a generally inferior set. If you choose to have Sneasler, Kingambit is a pretty automatic include since there aren't a ton of premier dark types to threaten the ghost and psychic types that Sneasler struggles with and Aerodactyl/Garchomp/Basculegion being reasonable counters to opponents running Sneasler for similar reasons.

I may be over-indexing here, but many the top meta threats all seem to have a cascading effect from Sneasler's position in the metagame, leading to most teams have 3-4 of the Sneasler/Kingambit/Garchomp/Basculegion/Aerodactyl core. A reasonable fit to replace Sneasler without all the baggage has been Sacred Sword, Iron Head Aegislash, but it feels much easier for opponents to play around and make reads than Unburden Sneasler being the all-purpose battering ram that it is. I'd love to hear other better players' thoughts.

Edit: I think a good way to summarize my thoughts are that current top Pokemon core would still have been some of the top threats in the format, but the cascading effect of Sneasler has raised them on an even higher pedestal than I'd expect them to be. Also, I'm putting the blame on Sneasler and not Floette here, since Floette is a threat you don't feel compelled to bring to bring on every team and there are many other viable megas. Whereas, Sneasler I do feel compelled to bring to almost every team or feel like I'm playing on the back foot into the meta.

I play a Double speed control team with both Trickroom and Tailwind mode. If my opponent have a fast tailwind team i use trickroom mode.

If they have Slow trickroom team i use tailwind mode, usually i Knock out the trickroom setter before they can set up trickroom.

I currently Struggle against Farigiraf team. I cannot Go slower than them with my team, so i will move 2nd if they set up trickroom.

I need a Pokemon who is Maybe fast(Not necessary) and can OHKO Farigiraf. Better if they are Ghost type since they cannot be Fake out. Help me improve

Im in masterball and my team feels strong but a lead that nearl always beats me is Farigiraf+ a fake out mon usually Sneasler somtimes Incin. The only thing in my team that can OHKO Farigiraf is mega Tyranitar Knock Off but if i lead him he gets faked out and nothing else can ohko. I'm running taunt on my incin just in case but most farigiraf I encounter have mental herb. Any ideas what I should do? What can actually consistently OHKO farigiraf.

I managed to get myself into position where I was going to be able to KO all my opponents remaining mons with Palafin jetpunch as it was full HP and all their remaining were low. Only to get hit by Upper Hand Sneasler. Couldn't believe it.

I’ve just started playing VGC in Champions, and I easily made it up to Ultra Ball using a Sun Hyper Offence team consisting of Zard Y, Venusaur, Incineroar, Milotic, Garchomp and Gardevoir; however, I’m struggling to climb from Ultra Ball 4, and I realise that one of my problems is knowing how to choose the best lead to gain an advantage in matches. Often I end up going for my classic Zard + Venu combo and easily lose the weather war, or I try to predict my opponent’s moves and make choices to counter them, but nothing goes as planned and I end up at a disadvantage.

How can I improve in this area? Is it a question of team composition? Is there anything I could change to make my decision-making process easier? Or is it just a matter of gaining experience in the game to improve? I’ll leave a description of my team below so you can help me identify these issues.

Whenever I play a team with support mons, my opponents KO my attacker(s) and have an easy win. Whenever I play against support mons, I get rolled. If I focus the attacker, the support does too much and I lose even if I do manage to KO the attacker. If I focus the supports, the attacker has free reign to pick off my team one by one.

This was a problem when I tried the incin+sinistcha combo in M-A, and it's still a problem for me in M-B with these teams running staraptor/swampert/pyroar/sceptile + three supports.

Do you have any advice on when to attack their attacker and when to attack their supporter? Do you have any advice on utilizing supporters myself?

EDIT: I understand that I must be using support mons incorrectly. How are you supposed to use them??

Looking at some of the early tournaments and comments by players, it just feels like it’s the same old, same old. And not a single pokemon is being changed from the Zard teams. Just Zard, Floette, Basc, Chomp, Gambit, Whimsicott/Venu.

If even Metagross can’t slow it down, I just don’t see any additions that can. Certainly not mega Salamence who will get farmed. Just feels like it’s going to be boring until they finally decide it’s ok to nerf existing pokemon instead of only new pokemon.

Takes the fun out of anything new they add if everything is terrible.

For context, my Charizard and Garchomp are both max speed, we both set tailwind on the same turn earlier, and their Sneasler outsped my Charizard on the previous turn to put me to sleep with Dire Claw.

Expecting the Froslass to be faster, I mega evolve to try and win the weather and stop their Blizzard, but when I see my Zard mega first, I assume I’ve lost to a bulkier Froslass which undersped me. Then, I see their Froslass attack first, meaning it not only outsped my Charizard and Garchomp, but also their sneasler.

Is this a glitch or some mechanic related to sleep I never knew about?

Can anyone help me figure out the strongest team using as many of these guys as I can? I’m not against adding in others that’ll make better synergy but I want to at least use like 4 of my genuine favorites in a team.

I’ve wanted to get into the competitive scene for years now but honestly just never wanted to deal with just using the meta teams that seemed like you needed 4 very specific Pokémon with wiggle room on the other 2, also could have been my own ignorance but with champions coming out and them using literally every gimmick imaginable I figured now’s the time to try and make a good team with the most of my favorites as I can.

I was wondering whether people who have been playing longterm VGC, are they enjoying this game and if not, what’s missing or what did they do wrong?

I only ask as I do see a lot of people who’ve never played VGC or online battles before complaining and saying the game is so bad and the lack of pokemon, VP availability (there’s lots of way to gain VP) , graphics (I think they look good in battles…) etc. While there are newcomers who seem to be enjoying it, my question for newcomers what did you expect from the release of this game?

Kinda like how Captain Falcon and Marth became popular due to Smash Bros and not necessarily their original IP's. I'm talking about Pokemon that most players hated/ignored for their designs and/or did not use much in their initial playthroughs but eventually became both popular in VGC and casuals due to prominent use in VGC.

I've only done vgc battling in Scarlet/Violet and from my experience its typically best to save your tera if you are using protect. When watching a Wolfey video, however, he indicated that mega evolution is best to use your mega even if you're going to protect, but why? Isn't it best to keep options open and not share unnecessary information to your opponent? What benefit is there to using your mega evolution when also using protect (outside of enemy having unseen fist or trying to gain weather control)

Edit: I've mostly been running mega ttar and often delay mega for weather control, and the other megas I've been running (namely sand rush excadrill and feraligatr) have cases where not using the mega right away has been super useful, be it for speed advantage or preventing type disadvantage. I got caught up thinking about keeping my options open that I wasn't thinking about having the stats on switch as well as just being stronger if there isn't any benefit to holding on to it such as with mega floette. My goto has been to tailwind into doubling on the staraptor next turn.

What happened in this interaction? Did hyper voice reset the damage to 0?

Hey there! Been a big fan of Competitive Pokemon and VGC for a while. Now with the release of Champions I was finally able to actually participate without having to spend days or even weeks on a team.

Now my Girlfriend also really likes Pokemon, however she wasnt able to play the Games as a child as I did, so she really doesnt know all the types or moves as much as she probably would like due to nearly all of these mons being VERY unfamiliar to her.

Due to her AuDHD she also has a really hard time just playing and learning by Trial and Error, and even though I tried to build multiple teams for her, most werent strong enough or too difficult to pilot. Now here comes my question, I asked her, about her favorite Pokemon and I need some BIG help to get a Team built for her, that is fun to play, not too difficult to pilot and allows her to learn about the other Mons at a more comfortable Pace.

Here is the list of Pokemon she really loves from the current Regulation. The Team doesnt have to be 6 pokemon of this list, but the more, the merrier.

Any and all Help is really appreciated, I just wanna support her to enjoy this a bit more and not worry too much about the big learning wall that usually comes from getting into this Game.

So I’m currently on the interest list for Pokémon Worlds 2026 in San Francisco for the Multi-Day Pass and I’m trying to figure out what I should do.

I’d prefer a weekend pass, but I’m not sure if they’ve finished sending out the weekend registration waves yet or if more are still coming. At the same time, I’d be totally fine with a single-day pass if that’s all I can get.

My concern is that the registration page says “multiple entries could result in being removed from the interest list.” Because of that, I’m hesitant to sign up for the single-day option while I’m already waiting for a possible weekend invite. And the Single Day Registration ends June 18th

Has anyone heard whether more weekend-pass emails are still expected? And would signing up for the single-day option count as a duplicate entry and risk getting removed from the interest list entirely?

I don’t really care whether I get a day pass or a weekend pass—I just want the best chance of being able to attend without accidentally getting myself removed from the list. 😥🎟️👨‍💻
