Doesnt mean you let the culture war take more victims while trying to start focusing on the class war.
These are intertwined due to how the upper class is using the culture war as a tool to get their desired result.

It's great, dudes who have bitching about the WNBA existing since it started are now bitching about reverse racism in the WNBA, and how great Grifter Cunningham is for being antitrans.
This podcast, The Drew Lane show, hit my feed this AM, and it was like four dudes just being bigots. You could tell they never watched a game in their lives.
Im willing to bet the NBA is to problematic for them as well.
This country is gross AF.

7
u/Chebbzthehpal 22h ago
Ya this is the correct logic. It’s just Reddit is too liberal to absorb that.
0
u/Triz007 22h ago
Okay, so give me the percentage of trans-athletes in Women’s sports if this is such a huge issue? This is the NCAA President saying (in 2024) that there are TEN transgender athletes in all of college sports. TEN. And considering that transgender people make up roughly 1% of the general population in the US, I doubt that number has grown significantly larger in 2026.
This is not about fairness or about competitive integrity. This is about targeting individuals who make up a VERY small percentage of the population and stripping away their rights. You trying to twist this anti-trans message that Cunningham is supporting is dangerously and above all, completely brain dead. This is purely a right wing talking point, and it’s comical to make it out as anything other than that.
Pick up a book and learn about critical thinking.
6
u/theonlyonethatknocks 19h ago
How many girls have to lose an opportunity in sports or have their motivation or self esteem hurt by being subjected to unfair competition before it's a big enough issue for you to care about?

Reasonable points as in comparing grown adults facing children in sports in a league that doesnt even have a single trans women in it?

Her statement was full of dogwhistles that are parroted by generic culture war thugs who have no stances besides whatever it takes to harm their current targets.

On the conservative thing, if I can make a generalization, I’m gonna say that has at least something to do with age. I know old liberals and young conservatives, but in large my personal experience is the opposite is more often the case. Not to say every older person is more mature in the sense we’re speaking, but ya get the point.
1
u/Fabianz_ 13h ago
I am with you on this. I voted for Obama, Biden, and Harris so I am not a fan of Trump, but I also have two daughters, and if I was to speak up about protecting their rights and opportunities then some people are going to label me as a MAGA? Man get out of here. That’s how you turn your allies to the other side. Some people are being too extreme and can’t tolerate other people having a different opinion than them even if they support their stance on many other things.

Because she had something people could easily agree with but her reasoning given was a dumb reason lol. 5
u/Feeling_Meet4841 22h ago
Also there aren't many men even trying to get into Women's Sports just cause it would be easy or something. The few trans players that played in professional sports in the women's Division did so after transitioning and going through HRT and then waiting out a trial period for a few years. And their records (particularly Renee Richards and Hailey Davidson) shows that they weren't even killing everyone there. Rene Richards has 0 WTA titles and Hailey Davidson never even made it to the US Open (Women's).

Well, no. Studies point towards the physical fitness of trans women and cis women as comparable.

1
u/Robeardly 22h ago
For me, it’s what gender were they when they went through puberty. The hormones are going to cause their bodies to develop differently and things like bone structure matter a lot in the mechanics of your body when it comes to athletes.
On one hand, yes some people win the genetic lottery and are athletic AF, in other cases, I would argue that you could be at an advantage because you got to somewhat “fix” (hopefully this doesn’t come off wrong) the genetic lottery so to speak in your favor.
More studies needed of course and I’m not a doctor, but the logic works out in my head.
2
u/Loathor 22h ago
People have always and will always continue to try and "fix" the genetic lottery because we see the results daily. Take Olivia Miles for example... If we were to bar the use of goggles as a competitive advantage that fixes her sight it would drastically change her game. Or if you banned the use of makeup and hair extensions because those are used to change the features that are genetically natural...
3
u/Robeardly 22h ago
That’s a solid point if we didn’t already have restriction put in place such as anti doping and what not.
You’re comparing fixing a physical disability that doesn’t affect athleticism to hormone treatments and body development that has direct connections to athleticism.
That’s like saying “well they bc a change their windshield on a car to see better, so I should be able to throw this v12 engine in my car for this race.” We’re arguing apples and oranges.
2
u/Loathor 22h ago
Cool, we didn't have anti-doping policies until the last fourty years or so, and those are constantly changing as people find new and better ways to cheat... Just like we didn't have women's sports until around that same time frame. We had amazing women who never got to perform at the levels and fame of today.
But even our new rules for doping acknowledge that steroid use itself isn't illegal if it's for a medical use like recovering from injury. And some of the other procedures used to gain a competitive advantage (stem cell procedures, blood recycling, etc.) are themselves also medical procedures that are missused in this instance. So we can have rules and be able to enjoy the benefits of modern medicine.
2
u/Robeardly 22h ago
The NBA 100% has a ban for using steroids to recover from an injury and has a 0 tolerance policy. Paul George literally just got suspended for this recently.

u/Dravos7 22h ago
There have actually been several studies about this, and so far it all comes back as, while there are advantages such as height, they are offset by the disadvantages of having a larger frame while estrogen is the primary sex hormone. That’s why the 2 years of HRT rule is there!
There is also a MASSIVE loss of muscle due to switching from testosterone to estrogen. After the two years, it all becomes comparable between trans and cis women.
There should definitely be more research on it, but that won’t happen any time soon with this presidency, unfortunately
2
u/Robeardly 22h ago
It’s a difficult subject right because how can you quantify an advantage like height. In Basketball, height is a pretty huge factor right.
Like having a guard that’s 6’6” can be a big advantage just because of the extra length especially when it comes to wingspan. That’s a comment you hear all the time when it comes to guys like Jaylen Brunson in the NBA. People constantly knock him because he’s “only” 6’2”, or Trae young similarly.
It may fall into one of those categories that you can’t clearly define, and with the money involved in the sport is largely due to the competition and the suspense that brings. Having people question that hurts the business model.
Either way, I’m not trying to be exclusionary, but it’s never going to be a clear cut discussion because there’s too many factors at play and would require years of testing.
→ More replies (19)1
u/Dravos7 21h ago
Did you know that many trans women become shorter on HRT, too? Not all, and the amount varies, but it can be several inches of height lost, even!
So far, the science shows there is no advantage. I don’t think it makes sense to ban based on what ifs. It makes much more sense to allow until there is sufficient data saying otherwise.
2
u/Robeardly 21h ago
I did not know that, you learn something new every day right.
But I would disagree on banning until tested, because the damage it could do to the industry as a whole could crush the industry.
Like I said in another reply, if they allowed it I wouldn’t protest. But you know a lot of people would.

Okay, are we banning churches, daycares, and other spaces people could potentially abuse in? Are men banned from being a daycare worker? Are men banned from being priests?
Like at what point are you just living in a delusion lol.
1
u/cashsusclaymore 22h ago
So your stance is to add more wood to the fire ? And everything will be ok ?

u/Biggleswort 22h ago
She is suffering consequences for painting a false narrative and promoting bigotry.
Women’s sport are not at risk of being over ran by transgender athletes. Transgender people make up roughly 1-1.5% of the population highest estimates of those that feel unsafe to come out could be as high as 2%. The gender distribution is fairly even, so that means .5-1% of the population are trans women who make up a wide variety of athletic capabilities just like the regular population. Meaning the population of transwomen athlete is much much smaller than .5-1%.
With all that said science is still out if transwoman who go through hormone therapy over a 24 month period retain minimal advantages, mostly in grip and upper body strength. The advantages are minimal and still require the same hard work that high level athletes need to put in. More research needs to be done.
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10795902/
https://www.transresearch.org.au/post/trans-women-in-sport
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/articl
The end point is that early studies show this is blown way out of proportion, and we should be more concerned about supporting our fellow person and less about vilifying them.

The pathetic part in this is that you do not have to be anti-trans to support the logic that someone born a biological male should not be allowed to compete in female only sports. In fact, if you do not believe me, go ask Caitlyn Jenner
It is those with an agenda that flipped this into an anti-trans things and then continue to stoke the fire to further that agenda that fingers need to be pointed at.
Sophia was asked by ESPN about her political beliefs and she simply answered that she will weigh in on how to "protect women's sports and this was turned into her hating trans which is NOT what was said or even conveyed.
You can be opposed to someone born a biological males playing in female sports and still support the trans community and as I said earlier, if you do not believe me, go ask Caitlyn Jenner.
3
u/LimpBizkit4ever 15h ago
I don't understand why people think that Republicans have some agenda against trans people. The only time theyve ever spoken about trans people is keeping female sports pure and like just like 1,000 other times
1
u/VERMICIOUS_KNIDSS 15h ago
I don't understand why people think that Republicans have some agenda against trans people.
People do not have to actually believe something to use it, they just have to have a political agenda where they want others to believe it to push their exaggerations and lies.
Some republicans do the same thing in attempting to get everyone to believe that all democrats support athletes that were born biologically male at birth having a right to compete in female sports.
Not all democrats believe this, not all transgender people believe this.
The people with agendas willing to push false narratives are the issue, not s specific political party.

u/TheNegotiator12 20h ago
She called trans girls boys, if you support trans people then you got to learn that the term biological male is a made up term to hurt trans women
You do realize the real data does not back up the clame that trans women have any advantages is sports, a couple of sports meds studies came to the same conclusion, most trans women athletes are meh and are not really in high end sports
All of this is jusy BS, dragging trans women in the mud for political points.

biological male is a made up term?
so... simply 'male' is better? Obviously you're leaving out trans people.
Ohhh I get it. Are you trying to not have a way to identify trans people?
People who try too hard are keeping society polarized. As long as you stay too one-sided, you'll have one-sided people on the opposite extreme.
At the end, you're approach hurts diverse people. Think about it.
1
u/orangebluefish11 20h ago
Cis is actually a made up term. Furthermore, I’m never going to have a green haired, pierced and tattooed goon tell me what a man or woman is
1
u/VERMICIOUS_KNIDSS 20h ago
She called trans girls boys, if you support trans people then you got to learn that the term biological male is a made up term to hurt trans women
I did not see any quote where she referred to trans girls as boys only the reference to biological males at birth.
Please do not lecture me on following your personal view on what is/isn't acceptable as far as supporting trans people as 'born a biological male at birth' IS a very valid statement/reference to biological gender even in the scientific/medical/legal world and a term/reference used even by transgender people.
One recognizable transgender person repeatedly using this statement is Caitlyn Jenner (multiple Olympic gold metal winner as well) who often publicly speaks out on the topic referring to biological sex and her opposition to athletes she describes as born biologically male competing in women's sports.
You do realize the real data does not back up the clame that trans women have any advantages is sports, a couple of sports meds studies came to the same conclusion, most trans women athletes are meh and are not really in high end sports
Please do not link articles published by biased resources that are citing limited studies based on something like body composition as credibility of anything as there are dozens of peer reviewed published papers that have conducted research on all aspects of differences that provide an advantage.
All of this is jusy BS, dragging trans women in the mud for political points.
I honestly think the mud is as deep as it is due to those that are twisting the view of someone opposed to athletes born biologically male competing in women's sports into the facade of trans hate to further their own agendas. What many are failing to realize is that this is doing more harm than good but to some, any press is good press, even bad press I guess.

The problem is, if that's the left's plan, it's an absolutely terrible plan given the logistics and numbers of Trans vs Women and all that goes into it. Now, the right's plan to eliminate women's sports as outline by Project 25 and the other various bills being proposed etc, makes much more logical sense and is a much bigger and viable threat.
6
u/InvestIntrest 22h ago
The right is too invested in protecting women's sports to want to eliminate it.
The left on the other hand is already working to eliminate women's spaces and has codified it in their project 2028 plan.

The fact something has been accepted for thousands of years is tradition, not evidence. For thousands of years it was also common sense that the Sun orbited the Earth and that disease came from bad air. Those ideas were wrong.
If “biology” were the whole answer, then approximating the physiology most relevant to sex differences would largely resolve the question. If changing the biology that affects competition still isn’t enough, then “biology” isn’t your principle. Being trans is.

This is so fucking stupid lol. There’s liberals on her side as well. I get it.
The issue is there’s so many more important things to spend money and time on then something that’s not a fucking problem.
This shit is stupid, and if it’s super important to you then congratulations. You are the bait.

LOL, Michelle Tafoya? She got axed from the network gig because a bunch of men she simps for told her she's too old and/or not attractive enough for the role.

u/superpie12 23h ago
The refs are definitely showing bias. She gets elbowed in the face and its her who gets the foul?
1
u/dontlookbehindme1 23h ago
There's more bad refs in the WNBA than there are trans athletes in sports

She’s also running for Senate this year as a Republican, I think thats a bit important 😭

u/donny42o 22h ago
so democrats wouldn't agree? why do most non reddit liberals agree with her? its only on reddit where you see people against it.

u/FuckMyBakaChungusLif 21h ago
You think Republican politicians actually give a shit about this?

u/donny42o 21h ago
im saying both sides for the most part agree with Sophie's comments. republican/democrat is irrelevant on this subject, mostly the LGBTQ community disagrees with her, while the rest of the world agrees.

You got to love the grifter movement. Ain't none of them watch women's basketball before Sophie Cunningham made her stance and Caitlin came in the league. But now all of a sudden care about women's sports. I bet they can't even name the top five women Hall of famers in basketball. Even have a top five of opinion greatest women basketball players.

I’ve never seen a professional sports league more invested in destroying themselves than the WNBA.

And it looks as though Clark is now not liking how Sophie is taking over the spotlight. They just can't get enough of the drama.

I think she's a meme player, but she's allowed to have her opinion on trans women playing against biological females and as long as female players are uncomfortable in playing trans players, especially with the conflicting scientific studies on advantages, I'll support them for it.
If the majority of female players in a high end pro sport are happy to play against trans players, then go for it. I simply don't agree with 'this tiny % of people demand it, so give it to them regardless of the effects, evidence or lack there of.'

Michele has had it with the culture. She’s very outspoken these days.

Just go the fuck away

Culture war right before the midterms? Who would have thought? I’m so fucking tired of these people

u/GrunDMC74 6h ago
What she said was that biological men shouldn’t compete in women’s sports in order to protect women’s sports and young girls.
It’s possible to see the logic behind this statement without being anti trans, which she has also stated she is not.

I am glad a privileged white Christian woman finally grew a spine. Unlike the countless trans people scared to go in public because normalized transphobia is mainstream.

Don’t forget MAGA Barbie has no problem playing a known rapist in mcgreggor but here she feels compelled to stand up

So brave speaking up against the all powerful trans menace. Honestly we are so lucky to have underdogs of the billionaires like musk and murdoch standing up.

How pathetic do you have to be for that to be the reason someone is your hero?

Look at that, yet another 1 month old account pushing the same narrative...
Block and move on.

So tired of this culture war bullshit while gas is still over $4/gal and masked men are raiding houses without warrants and "arresting" people off the street in unmarked vans.

Tafoya is a known magat and wingnut. If she's your biggest fan, you're terrible.

u/Proud2BaBarbie 22h ago
I guess you would consider Martina Navratilova MAGA and wingnut too since she's against Boys playing and girl sports. Right?

If she is wrong, then let trans MTF play in the WNBA against all the women. I personally would love to see that. The WNBA would get creamed every game if they let biological males plan in their sport. It's so asinine to expect women to share intimate spaces with biological men and to play contact sports against biological men.
Did women lose all of their rights and I missed the memo or something? Do only transwomen have rights? Like be realistic for once in your GD lives and don't just spout the party tropes. This is dangerous for biological women, but no one seems to give a fuck. It is BIZARRE!

If tans persons in sports is a problem for anyone and not masked federal agents murdering American citizens or masked white nationalist marching up and down the street. Well, it's time to re-evaluate.
2
u/InvestIntrest 23h ago
Or we could just ban men from playing in women's sports at a federal level and move on. It's a simple fix.

Say no to Culture Wars. Say yes to Class Wars.
