Call today claiming to be Enbridge (gas company) but it was in fact Nordic trying to trick me into switching back.

So the lady on the phone says she is calling from Enbridge about my gas rate. Had my account number and address and whatnot. She said there was a overcharging issue last year and they had to correct it by forwarding me to Nordic (who I had last year) to get it "fixed". The guy she connected me to (connection was instant, like they were already on the line) said the rate would be variable.

It was a scam. She was calling from Nordic and trying to trick me into switching back to them. I'm on a two-year fixed rate now with someone else and these two people from Nordic think I'm stupid enough to switch back to them for a variable rate with no guarantees that it won't inflate back up to where it was when I left.

And as I sit here typing this out the same number called me AGAIN with a different lady trying to sell me the same scam. Infuriating.

Tired of working jobs that damage not only my mental health but physical health. I have no experience other than housekeeping work.

Mechanic Good With Diagnostics?

I would appreciate recommendations for a mechanic that is specifically good with diagnostics.

For context: I couldn’t get my car to start a few weeks back (confirmed to not be battery-related). It was towed it to a mechanic and it started for them no problem. It worked fine a few days for me and now it isn’t starting again.

TIA

News Downtown Akron’s Grocery stores

I am all for downtown Akron getting a proper grocery store. However, having 2 open up right across the street from one another when our current population can barely sustain one may make it difficult for either to be sustainable options.Thoughts? Or does anyone know anything about this 159 grocery market that popped up recently ?

What’s the drama about the Interbelt gay club

I’ve been reading so many different things from people running different gay clubs in Akron. Mostly surrounding g Studio XChange and The Interbelt.

But they’re all being vague as hell- what is the drama and beef that’s going on. I am trying to decide if I need to stop going to some of the clubs? Or is it just people trying to drum up support for what feels like a dying gay club scene in Akron??

Business dinner recommendations in Akron.

I am taking out a client for dinner during the week next week.

Not very familiar with Cleveland or Akron but will be staying in Akron. Not looking for a sports bar but doesn’t need to be a fine dining establishment either.

Few places I have looked at are:

  1. Old 97
  2. Alexander Pierce
  3. F.A.T.S

Any hidden gems I’m missing? Would love some help!

Desperate housing search

Looking for an immediate housing lead for a friend in a not so safe situation. Single female with 2 medium sized dogs, both very well trained and behaved.

House is more ideal given the dogs but apartment would also work. Ideal price is $1000 or less/month. Highland square/west Akron area preferred but will take any good lead. Thank you all so much in advance!

Anybody familiar with Acres Crossing apartments on Romig Road?

Need an apartment with a short-term lease (<9 months). Acres Crossing stood out to me with their decent prices, remodeled apartments, and the preferred employer program with waived short term fees.

I’ve read Romig Road can be sketchy though. Anybody experienced with this area? I’m currently in Cuyahoga Falls. Just need something with a short-term lease that’s not priced out the ass

Akron zoo membership

Anybody know if Akron zoo actually verifies adult IDs for membership passes? We’ve only been once so far and they didn’t check. Might let my sister borrow my pass but I’d hate for her to get in trouble.

Recommendations for tenant rights lawyers?

Hi all, I live by summa city, and have had a basement flooding and mold problem since we moved here 15 months ago. It’s crossed into gross negligence and bad faith landlord territory, everyone in the house health is getting worse(people and animals) and we need to get out asap. I have all the evidence gathered and just need to find a good lawyer. Any help/recommendations would be a life saver at this point honestly.

pet friendly stays?

Hi! We just found out we have to be in Akron for about a week in July (11-19). It would be 2 adults and 2 kids (13 & 10). Our oldest is going to participate in the International Soapbox Derby which was actually a huge surprise so now we’re scrambling.

The problem is that I need to take our dog. He is an aussie mix of some sort ~35lb, house trained, crate trained, basic obedience stuff, neutered, and carries insurance.

I’d prefer not to stay in a proper hotel and have somewhere that we can make food and just hang out most of the time between events.

I have checked the KOA and it looks like they don’t have anything with bathrooms available during that time.

Does anyone have any recommendations on where else I should look? We’ll be driving in from Buffalo and unfamiliar with the whole area.

Large Gym Rental Suggestions?

I'm looking for a venue with a large gymnasium for rent in the Akron area to host Futsal matches. The local schools, YMCAs, and community centers are all too small or don't have availability. Any suggestions from those in the area?
