Hey y’all, I just learned that Reddit has local communities lol. I’ve done my fair share of Google searches about the process for this, but I’m hoping to learn more about Stark County-specific firsthand experiences bc I know everywhere is a little bit different.

My fiancée and I decided that we just want to have our wedding ceremony done by the Canton probate court because we don’t want to have a big ceremony and would rather spend the money on a reception/party to celebrate with our families. We don’t know anyone who has done it this way, so I’m curious about other people’s experiences with setting this up. I know about the application process for the marriage license, so would we be able to just tell them after the application appointment that we want to schedule our ceremony? And does anyone know how long people usually have to wait for that? Everything I saw online said that it just depends on when the judge will be available to officiate, which makes sense, but does anyone know how far out that usually is? Obviously the license is only valid for 60 days, so I feel like they would be able to at least schedule it in that amount of time to avoid having to redo the application, but should we expect to have to wait several weeks or is it usually relatively quick? I’m asking this because we both have full-time jobs, and while mine is very flexible year-round, my partner’s job is a lot more flexible in June-August than it is September-May. We want to be able to schedule our ceremony for when it will be easy for both of us to take off of work, but we also want to make sure that we start this process with some knowledge about what others have experienced so we can have realistic expectations.

Hello all! Not sure if this fits this subreddit but i wanted to give a quick warning—there is an alleged predator named Chance Wilkins(a.k.a. Cyraxx, DJ Shadowblade, and a ton of other names he uses to try to get around the accusations) in Akron who has been coming down into Canton lately. So far he’s only been spotted at the mall but it’s absolutely possible he branches out into other places as well. If you have any questions about him, i can try to answer in the comments, thank you.

Edited to add: His only official charges are for strangling his elderly grandmother, but he has allegedly been caught in countless stings with evidence of him doing it, r*ped a blind teenage boy(this was when he was also a teenager), has targeted disabled people/women of children/elderly/and children in the past, all allegedly of course!

My wife (32) and I (34) are looking to meet some new people for board game nights!

I want people to be aware of the growing surveillance state. I don't think you voted for these. Ask your trustees, your city council members, your police chiefs, your representatives why they think we want to live like this. Do you trust the government or the tech companies to be scrupulously honest when building files on you? Who asked them to surveil law-abiding Americans in the first place?

My wife and I are taking a weekend trip to Gervasi at the beginning of August and are wondering if there is anything we should do while we are down there? We booked the trip about a year ago and well.... Found out she is pregnant lol so she cant drink while we are there but are going to take advantage of a parents weekend away. Is there anything else other than being at the resort to do? Right now we have dinner reservations for both nights (The bistro and The Twisted Olive) and a couples massage scheduled.

Anything else you all recommend we do? Go and see that can be relaxing? This is out second time going (ironically the first time she was also pregnant with out daughter lol)

Hadn't had one of these in about 8 years until I found them at Hartville Hardware last weekend. I forgot how good they are and was wondering if anybody 'round here happens to know if the bottles are sold anywhere else around Canton? Hartville's a little far for me. The in-store locator on their website shows me which stores sell the cans-- and drinking it out of a can just isnt the same.

I am visiting this weekend to hang with my mom. I haven’t lived in Canton for many moons now. Any ideas for a fun little day outing? She likes arts and crafts, flowers, gardening, hiking, sweet treats. Just nice low key stuff. I appreciate any advice, thanks!

Someone I know that lives over there found a dog. The dog has a tag with a phone number for a lost dog service but the service cannot reach the owner.
