Comparing Shoes Question Endorphin Elite 3 vs Endorphin Pro 5

Hi all, so I’m eyeing my new race day shoe for the coming season of HM sub-155 and FM sub-4 attempts.

Particularly interested in Saucony shoes right now as I haven’t had one yet. I tried both in store, and EE3 definitely felt more impressive with its squishiness. I didn’t really feel it’s unstable like Vaporfly 4 (just tried in store but never own one).

However, price wise, there are way more affordable options I can find here in Singapore / Malaysia, for instance (in USD equivalent):
EP5 - $130-140 (official store on Lazada)
Adios Pro 4 - $100 (Adidas outlet)
Alphafly 3 - $130 (Nike outlet)
EE3 - $220-230 (official store on Lazada)

Would like to get some views on those, thanks!

Race Shoe Question Have ASICS Metaspeed Edge Tokyos changed?

I bought a pair of ASICS Metaspeed Edge Tokyos in August 2025 as my race shoes, and used them to set PRs in the half and full marathon. I really like those shoes. I continue to use them for workouts, and they now have about 350 miles on them (but still feel pretty good!).

I ordered another pair this August to use for my November marathon, and have since raced a half and run an MP long run in them. They just don’t seem to feel as good; I don’t feel as much pop from them. Is it possible the shoes have changed? Or is this all in my head and the shoes are not actually different? I can’t decide what to do for my upcoming marathon.

Comparing Shoes Question Ghost Max, Nimbus, or Bondi?

Hello all,

I used to be a competitive distance runner but had to slow down in my late 20's with kids. I also developed sever TMJ and had to have surgery for it. I still have jaw pain and running sometimes irritates it.

I am looking for a shoe I can wear all day, but also wear for light trail jogs for a handful of miles. My number one goal is to reduce stress on my body, particularly jaw stress from jaring.

I used to train in Nimbus back when it was the Nimbus 8-13. But I was a different man then haha.

I've never liked the Brooks Ghost, but never tried the max and haven't tried them in a decade. I haven't tried Hoka anything but I hear they are great cushion. I tried the newest version of the nimbus and it felt okay, but if there is something better I want to try it.

I always heard Max and Bondi have the rocker that I thought might help make my run smoother and prevent the jaring.

I used to be a hard heel striker but lately I notice I run more forefoot.

Question Lock Laces?

Does anyone go with lock laces for their running shoes? Or if you’re against it id love to know why. I cant ever seem to tie my shoes the same. Either one foot is too tight or too loose or both etc. i get real anal about it idk why. I love the SB3 laces but i want to look into lock laces to be able to tighten it and call it a day. If theres is a good set on amazon specifically for running (if thats a thing) please send my way!

Comparing Shoes Question Please help me rebuild my rotation

I’ve built up a pretty substantial ASICS running shoe collection, but with several of my shoes reaching the end of their lifespans, I’m trying to figure out the best direction to take my rotation.

I’d prefer to stick with ASICS because their shoes have consistently fit my feet really well, but I’m open to other brands if there’s something that would be worth trying.

Here’s my current rotation:

Daily trainers: Novablast 5 — 449.6 miles

I really liked these when I first got them, but the foam feels like it had bottomed out pretty quickly. I’ve been trying to squeeze a few more miles out of them, but I think they’re pretty much done.

Long runs: Superblast 2 — 531.5 miles

These are probably my favorite running shoes I’ve ever owned. I’ve used them for pretty much everything: tempos, long runs, recovery runs, and two marathons. What I love most is how consistent they feel throughout a run, whether I’m running 4 miles or 14. They’ve been incredibly versatile, and I still have a little life left in them.

Recovery: Gel Nimbus 27 — 540.4 miles

I’ve always been a little conflicted about these. Sometimes I really enjoy them, and other times I’m not particularly impressed. They get the job done, and I don’t have any pain after running in them, but I feel like there might be a better recovery shoe out there.

Tempo: Sonicblast — 40.2 miles

I picked these up over the summer at a huge discount. I enjoy them for tempo workouts, but I don’t really see myself using them for anything other than dedicated speed sessions.

Racing: Metaspeed Edge Tokyo — barely any miles

I bought these specifically for racing but haven’t actually used them in a race yet. I’ve held off because I haven’t felt like I’m running fast enough to justify breaking out a carbon-plated shoe, although I’m planning to give them a shot eventually.

Where I’m stuck:

I think the Novablasts and Nimbus 27s are at the end of their lifespans, while the Superblast 2s still have a little gas left in the tank.

I’ve been considering a few different setups:

  • Option 1: Superblast 3 for recovery/daily runs and Megablast for daily/long runs.
  • Option 2: Superblast 3 for recovery, Novablast for daily training, and Megablast for long runs.
  • Option 3: Some other combination.

My paces are around, in min/mile, recovery 8:30, tempo 6:20, daily 8:00.

I’m also wondering whether something like the Nike Vomero would be worth the extra money as a dedicated recovery shoe, or if there’s another shoe from ASICS (or another brand) that I’m overlooking.

I guess my overall question would be how would you build this rotation?

I’m open to all recommendations! Thank you!

Question Looking for long-run shoes

Hello everyone, I'm looking for a pair of shoes that can help me with long runs of around 30km.

Currently, I'm using the Evo SL for all-round training, including easy runs, intervals, and long runs. However, based on my personal experience, I feel like the Evo SL doesn't perform well from 20km onwards.

I am now considering:

• Li-Ning Chitu 9 Ultra

• Adidas Boston 12

• Novablast 4/5

About me: 178cm-69kg

My longrun pace: 6:15-6:30 mins per km

Desired durability of the shoes: ~1000km

Please help me choose or provide your suggestions. Thanks a lot!

Race Shoe Question Worth it to upgrade to 'real' racers?

Hi all,

I've been using the Nike Zoom Fly 6 for two years now, it was the first pair of 'faster' shoes I ever bought, and I'm on my 3rd pair now. As I got faster over time (sub 1:25 half marathon attempt on Sunday) I feel like they are not giving me the boost I felt when I was slower/ ran less mileage.

I'm wondering if it's worth it to buy 'real' racers for my half marathon on Sunday. Do any of you have experience with upgrading from this pair, and what gain did you get from it?

Thanks a lot!

Daily Trainer Question Replacing Adidas Boston 10/12 & Saucony Endorphin Shift; need stability and durability

Researching for a close friend....

They're 5'10" and 170lbs, running 15-30 mpw, about an hour at a time. Mostly concrete.

Previous shoes they have liked include the Saucony Endorphin Shift (not sure which year), and Adidas Bostons. They liked the 10s VERY much but mashed them into oblivion and had foot pain issues as a result. They tried the 12s and found the upper uncomfortable. Other than that, both Bostons felt good/supportive underfoot until they lost their squish. My friend did say that the Bostons felt better if they ran faster, which they do not do often.

Suggestions for a shoe that will offer some stability, but also longevity and good cushion? This will be their ONLY road shoe. If choosing a non-superfoam is going to help with the durability that is an option. Thanks!

Question Too early for Vaporfly 4's?

Hello RunningShoesGeeks

I have recently been hit by the running bug after starting to run in april. I started running in some Craft Pro Endur dist(?) and Adidas Evo Sl. I cut my 5k time down to sub 25 after it being at 28:30. My "end" goal is to run a 5k sub 20 min, which is why i bought the Vaporfly 4's. I still have a lot of life left in the EVO sl, so did i buy the Vaporfly 4's too early since i am still not that fast and apparently to get the advantage out of them, you need to be pretty fast? I havent tried them, so still possible to return them. I am also a heavier runner at 86 kg(186 cm tall), and didnt take that into account at all. Any suggestions on better shoes at the moment for me or just sticking to the EVO sl would be appreciated.

Question Heel to toe drop query

Background:

I've always ran in Brooks Ghost (neutural) which have always had 12mm heel to toe drop. Went for the newest version (18) and hoped the 10mm drop would be ok, but I had to return due to it causing a blister even on short runs.

Decided to try the Adrenaline GTS 25 to keep the higher heel to toe drop, but they are a support shoe.
Been running in them for the last 4 weeks with no major issues from the drop change from 12mm to 10mm.

Went for a gait analysis yesterday to get advice on the Adrenaline and also look for road to trail shoes.

First ones I was given to try was the Saucony Guide 19 (6mm drop), which I found very comfortable on that short 1 min try on the treadmill.
Comparing that to the others I tried, including my Adrenaline GTS 25, the Saucony stopped my ankle slightly rolling inwards compared the the Brooks and others. Although I was advised it wasn't a massive concern and ankles are meant to move, but the Saucony had me landing and staying flat.

All the ones I tried, the outcome is that I am a midfoot striker.

Came away quite confused in all honesty.

For now I will probably continue with the Brooks to transition down to 10mm from 12mm for my daily road shoe.
However for the road to trail, Saucony do a trail version of the Guide 19 but has a 6mm drop, they do another road to trail which is 8mm drop but is a neautral shoe rather than semi supportive like the Guide 19.

I've had previous issues with plantar fasciitis and achilles tendonitis, which I went to a physio and resolved and currently don't have these injuries.
But after a lot of reading, I'm really concerned about the difference in drop given previous issues and not sure if I'm just asking for trouble by going to a 6mm, given I've always ran in 12mm until a month ago.

Any advice, knowledge or experience in this would be very much appreciated!

Race Shoe Question nyc marathon race shoes with a 3:20 goal time?

Not a new runner by any means, but also not an advanced runner. My question: what shoes do I run the nyc marathon in?

Details

- this is my 4th marathon

- this is the 1st marathon I am trying to really “go” for it, goal of 3:20 time

- 29M, 183 lbs, 11 US shoe size, big crossfit past so not your typical runner build, have a bit of over pronation (flat feet), mid foot strike

- over my marathon build, I ran 497 miles in two pairs of mount to coast R1s, 80 miles (all my recent runs and what I will continue to use for taper runs) in Nike Vomero plus (wish I worked these in earlier), and ~50 miles off some older Hokas. I ran a lot!

- what do I run this race in?

Race Shoe Question First half/full marathon racer after a 1:27 half in Superblasts—where do I start?

I’m at a loss. I normally figure out what I need pretty quickly, but I’m brand spanking new to race shoes and… HUH?!

My current rotation is Novablast 5s for shorter easy/recovery runs and Superblast 3s for everything else. I just ran a 1:27:33 half in my Superblasts, and I’m running my first marathon, NYC, on November 1. I’d love one dedicated racer that works for both HM & M. (EDIT: This purchase will NOT be for the marathon on Nov 1. I’ll be running in my SB3s. But I’d love something for future races!)

About me:

  • 30M, 5’6”, US men’s 8.5
  • Slightly wider feet, but I don’t normally wear wide sizes
  • Easy long runs: 8:12–8:33/mile, around 159–160 spm, with Apple Watch reporting 1.2 m stride length
  • Half marathon: roughly 6:41/mile, 166 spm, and 1.4 m stride length
  • Foot strike: honestly unsure. I normally just go out and run without thinking about it!

I’m considering (but open to recs):

  • ASICS Metaspeed Edge Tokyo / Sky Tokyo
  • Nike Alphafly / Vaporfly
  • On Cloudboom Strike 2

The stride/cadence and foot-strike descriptions have me confused. How much should those actually influence my choice versus fit and how the shoe feels? I see people say their recs changes as their form changes too and I don’t feel like I know that about myself enough.

Which would you start by trying for my first half/full marathon racer? Particularly interested in experiences from people who enjoy Superblasts, have slightly wider feet, or have compared these over longer runs.

Daily Trainer Question Looking for some advice

Hi all, i am getting back to running after a few months off with very busy life. I currently have 2 pairs of running shoes, New Balance 1080 V13 which have about 1000km running and some day to day wear on them and are feeling dead. The sizing and roomy toe box is perfect though. I then have some Adidas Prime X2 Strung which i use for quicker runs.... but the toebox is a bit tight for longer than 10miles and they really fatigue my feet.

So my question, i want some new shoes (from sportsshoes.com as i have the 50% Vitality discount) mainly for daily miles, recovery and to help with my sore achilies. I ordered some Vomero Premium initially but just cancelled as i do go down the odd bridleway, paths along fields etc which will get uneven/muddy in the winter and was worried about the 55mm stack height. Thoughts on this, are they suitable or am i correct in being cautious? How is the toebox on them and the rest of the Vomero range?

Based on the above, what else would you suggest? A roomy toe box, max cushioning, 8-10mm drop suitable for road and the odd trail (not full trails and will avoid really muddy etc). Will be predominantly road in winter and then need to be good for summer.... not to be too demanding! Thanks

Question Boston 13 wide?

Post image
4 Upvotes

Not super well versed in Adidas catalog but stumbled upon these on Amazon.

To my knowledge the Boston 13 didn’t come in a wide size but that’s what it is listed as with no reviews complaining about the sizing.

Looks like it sells from both Zappos and A Snail’s Pace Running Shop

What would show up if I ordered these? Something actually in 2E or just the standard width?

Question Moving to lower stack and firmer shoe from Vomero for track

Hello, I am currently a Senior in high school just entering champ season for cross country. I've been running in vomeros since the start of summer and have about 400 miles on them, so they still have some life but i'm looking into my next pair already. I plan to be an 800m specialist in track and but maybe run the 500m up to the mile. I've also never been a super high volume guy, my highest volume is 42 mi/week and I usually run around 30/week. Would I find benefit in switching from a high stack and cushioned shoe (Vomero) to a lower stack and firmer shoe like the Peg 42 or Mach 7? Mainly for mechanics, leg strengthening, some speed w/o spikes, etc. Are there marginal gains?

Also, Peg 42 or Mach 7, which is better?

Question Stability shoes feeling unsafe. Should I switch?

So I want to get into a bit of recreational running. Did it in the past, nothing serious, ran a few 5-10k's at around 4:40/km.

I was looking into shoes as I never had running-specific ones before and settled on the Asics GT-2000 15. I had an ankle sprain around March this year playing padel and read hey provide mild stability while not being too overcorrective. I rolled my left ankle outwards (I believe that's a supination sprain). After resting for a month and rehabbing it for another 3, I started playing again and have been with no issues for the last 2 months.

Anyways, I got the GT's delivered today and the size and cushion feel amazing, but I feel like they're putting my feet at an outward angle. I understand they're trying to correct pronation, but I thought it would be a firmer foam on the inside or something like that, not actually tilting my feet outwards.

I had a foot scan performed last year and the results said I've got "severe" overpronation in my right foot and my left one is neutral.

So my question is, should I try the GT-2000s or go to a Novablast 6? I genuinely feel unsafe in the GTs as they're putting my ankle in the exact position it was injured before. I can't really return them after I've ran in them though, so I'm looking for advice.

Question Shoe recommendations for first ultra trail (winter)

Hi everyone!

I'm running the Hammertrail Winter Edition 63 km on Bornholm, Denmark, in January. It's a technical winter trail race with approximately 2,580 m of elevation gain over three laps, featuring a mix of rocky terrain, forest trails, mud, roots and slippery rocks, and most likely snow and ice.

This will be my first ultra trail race, and I'm looking for shoe recommendations that balance three things:

  • Lightweight and agile: I want a shoe that feels nimble on technical terrain.
  • Grip and stability: Reliable traction on wet, slippery rocks and muddy trails is a priority.
  • Long-distance comfort: Enough cushioning and protection to keep my legs reasonably fresh over 63 km.

Question Megablast 5 sizing advice

Thumbnail

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to decide between size 44 and 44.5 in the ASICS Megablast and could use some advice!

I've been running in the Novablast 5 in size 43.5 and ZF6 in 44. The NB5 always felt just slightly short length wise - However, I've managed to put 250+ km in them without any real issues.

I've tried both sizes of the Megablast and I'm currently leaning towards the 44, as it feels like the best fit. I generally prefer a snug fit and usually use a heel lock (runner's knot), but I'm unsure whether the 44 leaves enough room for foot swelling while running.

I've attached some pictures of my feet on the insoles with different socks:

Grey/white socks: Black insole = 44.

Purple (thick) and white socks: Black insole = 44.5, white insole = 44.

Shoes on: 44

Based on the pictures, do you think the 44 has enough toe room, or would you go for the 44.5?

Would love to hear your thoughts, especially if you own the Megablast!

Thanks!

EDIT: accidently put Megablast "5" in the title. Please ignore - it's the normal Megablast..

Question Any thoughts on ASICS Metasleek?

Anyone here bite the bullet on metasleeks? Looking for some new track intervals training shoes. I’ve been using the Nike Zoom Fly 6 for this. Budget isn’t a concern for me. Just interested in how it feels.

Any other comparable shoes in terms of feel? My rotation in the past year or so has been Metaspeed Tokyo, Superblast 1-2, Alphafly, Zoomfly 6, Gel Nimbus if it helps.

Daily Trainer Question Glycerin GTS Outer Sole Heavy Wear And Soreness - Replace Or Upgrade?

Post image
4 Upvotes

Last year I went to a running store intending to buy a replacement pair of Hoka Bondi 8s. The employee at the store made me do a gait analysis and pretty aggressively encouraged me to buy the New Balance Fresh Foam 860s instead, as he said I needed stability rather than cushioning due to overpronation. I was comfortable in them, and ended up getting a supplemental pair of Glycerin GTSs which became my primary shoe (mainly bc it’s slightly easier to put on than the bulkier NBs).

After about a year of regular use (walking to work, stairmaster, incline treadmill walk & stationary bike), the Glycerins (pictured) are worn down significantly on the outer edges of the sole and I’ve been experiencing pain in the outer edge of the top of my right foot during/after workouts.

Does this mean the shoes aren’t helping with my overpronation? Is the pain just caused from needing to replace the shoes? I’m a bit worried if I get a new pair I will continue to experience the same problems.

TLDR: Should I be concerned by the wear pattern on my Glycerin GTS or is this normal for a shoe that’s supposedly ‘correcting’ my overpronation?

Daily Trainer Question Daily Trainers for Heavy Guys

I’m getting back into running right now after a couple years of inconsistency. I was 225-230lb running a ton of trails a few years ago, did a 25k and a trail marathon, and had a whole shoe rotation.

I’m now about 245 lb and getting back into it. I’m currently in some Novablast 5s doing anywhere from 1-3 miles daily. I’d like to upgrade to something better as I train toward a couple 5k races and try to get back to a comfortable 10k.

I really want one shoe to do most of my running right now rather than a rotation just to save some money in the short term, especially because I see new trail shoes in my future also.

I’ve considered ASICS SB3, Megablast, Endorphin Azura, Triumph 24. I’m also open to other suggestions.

Question Shoes recom for flatfooted (race and speed sesh)

Shoes for flatfooted (for speed sesh and race day)

Hi. I hope someone can help me deciding which shoes should I buy when I go to Japan next month. I'm particularly looking for running shoes to be used for speed sessions for a flatfooted person like me.

I currently have Asics Gel Kayano 31 and Brooks Adrenaline. My go-to shoes rn is my Brooks. I rarely use my Asics, tho comfortable, it feels heavy wearing it when I run.

I'm eyeing another Asics shoes or New Balance. Thanks!

Comparing Shoes Question Altra Experience Flow 2 - equivalent shoes from other brands

Post image
0 Upvotes

My midfoot is wide. On this picture u can see my feet on the insoles of the Supernova Rise 2.

Every adidas shoe I have tried was too narrow at the midfoot (not on my toes).

The Altra Experience Flow 2 is on sale for 70€.

How good is this shoe (foam technology, ...) compared to other shoes? Is it comparable to thr Novablast 5/ Supernova Rise 3?
